any of y'all into blind item gossip? basically, it's celeb gossip that is published without any names (hence the 'blind' part)

i've been dabbling with a fic idea centered around the prophet running blinds about Draco (Mr. Irrelevant) and Harry (Our Hero). just wanted to share a sampling:

This A-List War Hero that’s remained in the spotlight in thanks only to the recognizability of his name was caught canoodling with someone other than his C-List Quidditch Player Wife this week. Yes, it would seem Our Hero has dabbled in something much darker than his reputation would have you believe. Who was our Hero spotted with? Some may call him Prince of Darkness, others might call him Heir to Nothing, but we’ll call him… Completely Irrelevant. And yes, you read that correctly. Our Hero has taken to back alley rendezvous with another man. That would hardly be noteworthy in this day and age were it not for the continued existence of his Wife. Our Hero and Mr. Irrelevant have been spotted together on numerous occasions over the past several months, but only this week were they caught in an undeniably inappropriate act outside the Soho nightclub Vamp. What will his wife have to say about that? We wouldn’t know, she’s not been in the country for months. If anyone finds themselves in the States, we welcome them to find out and report back any juicy details.

i didn't want to have to make this post, but lately i've been receiving a lot of anonymous asks about a certain blog and unfortunately, it's gotten to a point where i feel like i have to address it. don't take this post as being hateful in any way—this is just something i just wanted to get off my chest. this isn't a big deal, so no reblogs either, thanks.

the bottom four asks all came within a span of five minutes, so i think it's a reasonable assumption to make that they were all sent by the same person. as for who that is, i'll get into that at the end of the post.

but first of all, i can say without a doubt that i have a personality of my own. case closed. nobody's actually said how we're similar in any way, so i'll assume these are all from no-lifes who couldn't find anything better to hate on.

second of all, my netflix banner was actually inspired by another blog, who i won't namedrop for the sake of their peace. and either way, our banners don't even look similar, nor do either of us own netflix. x x

and finally, those are actually the two most braindead asks i've ever received. are we copyrighting letters now? does anyone own the letter e?

don't compare blogs/writers—it's never ended well, and it never will.

even after getting these asks, i still didn't say anything about it because.. i don't really care. everyone's entitled to their own opinion, and what you think of me is up to you.

moving on, i think tee left tumblr sometime in between that time and now, and i was told by a mutual that i was mentioned within the post. if i'm being completely honest, i didn't read all of it because we have each other blocked anyways and it was a lot to read through.. so i skimmed over the bit about me, but didn't really see anything of interest, which is why i didn't address it.

i also had anons on at the time, and i did think it was interesting how i didn't receive a single ask about tee from then up until today, about a month later. up until a couple hours ago, i hadn't even thought about her because, again, i don't care. this is tumblr dot com, not my love life. most of the drama here is over pixels anyways, so i don't waste my day thinking about it.

neither of these are particularly interesting, but the fact that you weirdos are still associating me with someone who i'm not even mutuals with is.. not to my liking.

as for the idea that i'm jealous of tee, i'm perfectly fine with the amount of followers i have now. i've always been open about my satisfaction with my interaction rates, and that hasn't changed.

and obviously, tee's a good writer—when have i ever said otherwise? if it was based solely off of writing, i would say that she deserves every single one of her followers, maybe even more. i don't think anybody on this app would disagree with me when i say that she's genuinely one of the best fanfic writers i've come across.

however, i won't support someone just because i like their content. i've stopped listening to many artists because i didn't like who they were as a person, and similarly, once i read the reblogs on a certain callout post, i stopped consuming tee's content as well.

there's a reason i avoided making this post in the past—because i don't really have anything to say. tee and i have never had a directly negative interaction, as i'm sure you all can see in her archival post. the reason i don't support her anymore is because i didn't particularly like how she never spoke up about her followers sending death threats to other followers. that's it.

while i have my guesses as to who sent those anons, i don't care enough to find out. and i think it's better that way. this conflict's been dragged on for long enough, and this is my way of saying that i'd like to be excluded from this narrative from now on.

tee, if someone sends you this post at some point, feel free to contact me if you'd like to clear anything up. we're both adults, and i think we can agree that nothing monumental has happened between us to cause any of this. honestly, the only people dragging this on are the weirdo anons in my inbox.

If you have a pinned post or “Rules” / ”About” section where you for example write that those who are pro Uchiha don’t sit well with you as people, that pro Uchiha freaks should log of and go out or write other kinds of bullshit along those lines, then don’t interact with my posts.

People who send anonymous asks to others that they should kill themselves are unwelcome. 

I don’t care about particular fans picking fights. Anyone can be a fan of any character for all I care. (My post about anti tags regarding characters.) It’s their own behavior that counts. For example if anyone claims I lack reading comprehension because of their own lack of comprehension or denial or whatever reason, then I’ll block them. That doesn’t mean you can’t tell me if you think I got something wrong. Anyone can make mistakes. I only rarely make posts and I read most chapters awhile ago. Not to mention there are slightly different translations, which can make a difference. Adding to that, different cultures and different values can lead to different interpretations. Some things, like Tobirama’s racism, are certain facts though. To give an example: Tobirama fans who want to pick a fight with me on my post about Konoha’s (and Tobirama’s, etc.) racism while starting with “why are you still fighting over fiction...” and so on is reeking of projection. (I used the tag "anti tobirama".) 

!!! This doesn’t mean that people who like characters like Tobirama are morally inferior. The reason I used Tobirama fans as example is because me and a few of my friends personally experienced “verbal attacks” from individuals who came at us because of Tobirama. !!!

I will reblog/write about the Naruto manga, not the anime. Studio Pierrot screwed up the animation. I already see the first part of the Naruto anime critical, but Shippuden is just bad besides maybe the fighting scenes. There are a few good soundtracks and even good songs though. None of the filler episodes and none of the novels are canon.

I might be sometimes on hiatus. I'm busy...

I’m all for narrative-critical understanding. Kishimoto’s framing of the story leaves a bitter taste. For ex. “Endure oppression or else you’re evil.” is such a great outlook, don’t you think? *yeah, sure*

So... I used to think I might have a Snake secondary performance. And then I realized that no, it's just a thing Badger does. Except now I'm reconsidering because I'm realizing I do both.

This and @burnt-oranges 's post (which is now missing for some reason) are actually super relatable, and it hasn't really clicked up until now that actually, yeah, I kinda do have a set of "faces" I put on in order to get through social stuff, especially with new people or communities I don't 100% feel comfortable in. It isn't as natural to me as Badger reflection and it takes more energy, and all of my "faces" are actual genuine aspects of me (I don't think I could just make one up), but I do have them.

There's the one where I channel my social anxiety into coming across as shy and soft, for example. It's good for getting a certain type of person to like me, but I don't use it if I'm concerned about being taken seriously.

Funny story: I used that one when I first met my local writing group. After the middle aged ladies who made up the rest of the group had all decided I was adorable, they asked if I'd brought anything to read. I had. It was a weird experimental second-person short story I'd written a while back. The protag (who isn't the viewpoint character) is a Badger Lion girl, a PI and an enthusiastic street fighter. Half the story is an action scene with the viewpoint character fighting a pimp while sliding around on icy streets. It's not my best work, but it's fun and the group's reactions were priceless.

I also have the "serious/competent" face I wore constantly while I was actively studying programming. I hate being talked down to and tech has a huge elitism problem, and I entered as a teenage girl, so I kinda had to. I didn't realize that I was doing this, or how exhausting it was, until I left.

I don't have different social media accounts for different personas, but have you ever noticed how different the tone on this blog is from my main? My main is basically a crow's stash of shiny objects, and I'll rb spam it with 14 posts from the same comic artist at 3AM. It basically says "this person is a goblin who likes cats and art and food and writing."

But this sideblog is like... *just* my analyst mode, and 8/10 of the posts are longpost infodumps of analysis and theories and rambling. It reads as so much more serious and methodical. And like, that's a natural mode for me to be in sometimes but it's weird to see so much of it in one place? I'm not like this all the time, guys. I'm a dweeb in comfy clothes with too many plants. I have bread dough proofing in the fridge right now.

So like, a lot of my code-switching isn't really intentional. Some of it is. But it's less often "I will act cute so these new people like me," and more often a semi-conscious "oh shit my friend's upset, Therapist Mode Activated, time to validate some feelings."

Also, can I just comment that this has to be the most Birdy form of Snake secondary possible? Personas as premade tools? I have kind of a bunch of them, the more I think about it.

Badger mirroring is still a whole lot easier, though. Snake takes serious energy, and the less genuine it is the more energy it takes.

Okay, wait, correction, because I just figured it out. The situations in which I use Snake are draining, and that's why I'm using it: as autistic masking. (There it is.)

First of all, what being snakey *doesn’t* feel like (for me) : having an extremely solid, fixed sense of self. Having a deep confidence in asserting who I am because who I am is obvious to me. These are traits I see in other people but do not have myself. I experience myself as highly malleable.

An example, but it may overlap with my very loud snake primary: As I spend time around people, I absorb their opinions, and then I spend time away from them and their opinions fade away from me. This means I do not have a strong sense of clarity of my own opinions except as the summed average of the opinions of the kind of people I’m consistently drawn to. There are exceptions - things that speak to me so deeply they stick - but I am describing the overall gestalt.

I know with confidence that if I spend a week reading one viewpoint I will absorb it, and then I spend a week reading the precise opposite viewpoint and I’ll absorb it also, and then I can have both of those floating in my head and I can just… Slip into or out of them.

I sort of pick up on the vibe a person is projecting and end up shaping myself to it. This makes me feel safe. Having multiple layers of myself, and never showing all of them, also makes me feel safe. Being very bluntly open and bare and raw about myself is terrifying (I see lions doing this in a sort of casual way and it boggles my mind. I know that at least some of them actually put thought into it and are strategic about it, but they still have a way of self expression I couldn’t pull off in its honesty/rawness).

By the way I do think this is the difference between snake neutral vs lion. Snake neutral is not bothering to wear masks, but it is not the same as exposing oneself. I let go of the mirroring and reflecting, its not the same as opening up. (what it can be is letting go of the _fake_ opening up. Once there is real intimacy, the trappings of flatter-intimacy aren’t necessary)

I was once with a friend, and she was nerding out about something, so I nerded back a bit. And she said “you know, I completely forgot you had this side to you, although now that I think about it you do also hang out with the super nerdy group”. And this is because with each social group I join there are the specific ways people act within that group that I’ll adjust to. I do this so naturally I find it weird to be reminded that other people don’t do this. I keep most of my Internet accounts very separated from each other because the thought of their different “personas” crossing makes me cringe, and I just assumed this is what everyone does on the Internet until my brother was surprised I have some fifteen reddit accounts. “wait, you _don’t_?” I said, but really he has just one and he sticks all the aspects of himself in that single account, which is a bit crazy to me.

So as my post discussed I am conflicted between bird and snake, but I will say that when I’m consciously hyping up my snake, its sort of opening up this channel in myself of feeling/sensing the other person and reacting to it. I don’t know if it’s precisely an empathy? In an interview, it will be sort of mirroring the person’s energy, connecting to their humor…in a fight, its like, oh, they need this kind of interaction and communication for my point to get through, so then I’ll adopt that, I don’t know where the insight comes from but the ability to adopt it is because all interaction is some kind of presentation/acting, essentially, so it’s easy to switch, you just pretend to be another kind of person. (in the example I’m discussing, to be less vague, I realized she needed me to be much more direct and blunt and aggressive, because my efforts to de-escalate felt like abandonment to her, so I had to sort of make my voice more passionate even though by nature the more distressed I am the more colorless I get.) I don’t know, people do a lot of projecting what they want/need in their word choice and body language and tone and then you adapt to it.

When I’m not “on”, I’m just not deeply paying attention to that channel of information so I’m not really molding myself except for the generic molding I do with everyone based on what context we met, what level the relationship is at, where we are in the status hierarchy, etc. I don’t know how to explain that better because I’m not clear on how one would relate to people _without_ that, except for the neutral state where you don’t bother with it. Maybe other snakes can help me out here.
