Man, I still remember when in 2015 and 2016 larries...(or I should call them harries) kept repeating every single day how irving azoff was going to sign 1D 💀💀💀 they called him grandpa azoff. “Grandpa will save 1D from Simon cowell” they were crazy for that ugly old sock. 😭 they had whole tags and posts about him. They really believed he was the 1D savior. They used to say that Louis was bff with Jeff. Or that he always had dinner with harry and the azoffs. The amount of lies they told their followers...and for what? How sad!!

it was so crazy. they even claimed that the way harry wouldn't interact with any of them was sony/cowell trying to keep them apart.

or any obvious behaviour harry was doing for his solo career was also just stuff being put out to make harry look bad, because sony/cowell were trying to sabotage the azoff's from saving one direction and having louis/harry come out of the closet together so were trying to turn the fans off them first.

as if that made any fucking sense lmao. but i guess what do we expect from the louis gave birth to a fake doll baby people.

what's wild is there are harries who came up with all those crazy theories who still to this day believe harry and louis are together and that everything that happens is part of harry's own plans to free louis and run away together. when in reality all they did was spend years making harry look like a victim so that all the larries/harry's own fans felt bad for him and didn't believe any of the solo rumours until the day he released his first single.

So like, disruption is not in and of itself bad. We need disruption! But let's consider what disruption larries are attempting with their conspiracism.

The industry they deem to need disruption is the music industry. Now, I don't disagree with them, generally, but I was in college when OK Go got "put on the shelf" as Chester Bennington put it in Artifact, the documentary that larries in 2014 touted as evidence that Irving Azoff was going to "save" One Direction. Anyway, the record label decided that after their debut album, OK Go wasn't going to get the $$$ to promote their second album.

So they took it into their own hands, renting some equipment and filming their own music video. They distributed it on a new video platform since they didn't have access to the traditional avenues of distribution.

It went viral. They disrupted the industry. Today, OK Go are on their own label and are still known for their innovative music videos.

Larries, however, live in a world where Harry and Louis are unable to do anything to better their own situations (which they view as them being forcibly closeted by ... Whomever). Harry and Louis have tens of millions of dollars, much more than the $700 or so OK Go dropped on treadmill rentals to change their own fortune, and yet, that's not enough to do anything.

Instead of larries themselves taking action to disrupt the music industry in the way they want -- by, IDK, supporting out queer musicians to show that they can be profitable to labels -- they fake!disrupt by concocting narratives that excuse their own inaction.

Seeing Harry practically glow, when telling a full stadium of people that he loves performing for a stadium, got me thinking about his agency again.

I don’t think he is being “forced” into anything, advised probably, but I still think most of his decision are his only. Obviously these are all just stories I’m telling, but to me it seems like he wants to make it big. That he wants to explore other creative fields, without the possible difficulty of labelling himself. I wonder how much his anxiety and perfectionism plays role in all of this. And how much of his self expression through clothes, movie roles etc. is helping him navigate this difficult path of self reflection in the era of judgment and cancel culture.

I have also been thinking about the expectation people ( I mean fans) have from him and how much people project onto him. After all he is an entertainer and if you’re not entertained you don’t have to support him.

Of course I have a soft spot for all members of 1D anon! Look at what harry tweeted on 8 April 2013 and I'm currently rewatching ONO live. The only explanation is the softest of soft spots.

I totally agree that he wants to make it big and that he's not being forced. I doubt there's anyone around him in his professional life who creating spaces where it's possible to imagine alternatives to being a fantasy boyfriend and playing stadiums. But I think that's a result of his choices as well. I think he knew what he was doing when he chose to work with Irving Azoff's son.

And we do live in a deeply homophobic world where there would be real consequences for his options and opportunities if he came out. I do think the expressive creative opportunities he would lose should be taken seriously and not dismissed.

And yet....

The many anons I've got saying super fucked up things about queer culture, have made me think a lot about Harry's affinity for queer culture based on celebrating outness. And I think there's something I've touched on and not fully articulated yet.

The pride flag is very much a symbol of being out and visibility. It's origin is very much steeped in the out and proud queer liberation movement of the 1970s. And while a lot of the liberation aspect to that has been lost, the connection to be out hasn't. Harry isn't out, but he really consistently engages with queer symbols of outness, and doesn't show much interest in queer symbols associated with the closet. And I do think that's quite an odd approach to take.

It makes me think that Harry thinks that he should be out and that Harry agrees with at least some of the discourse that I'm so busy railing against.

I does worry me that Harry might think he should be out, while consistently making decisions that take him in the other direction. And I particularly worry in the context of the discourse that does exist and a possibly cancelled Late Night Talking video.

Baby larrie here, I don't believe in any of the stunts so I guess I'm not a 'twarrie.' however, I don't understand the whole closeting thing-specifically who is closeting L & H (yes I'm aware it's mm/Simon/Syco but who exactly?) I know that sounds contradictory but I really want to get a better understanding of who exactly and why? Also, isn't Harry besties with Jeff and Irving and Ben Winston? Aren't they also supposed to be the bad guys? Is he cool with hanging out with the villains? HELP

Hi baby larrie! 😌 So first of all, welcome! Second of all, I’m unfortunately going to burst your bubble lol with the news that their closeting is definitely not a fan fic, meaning that it doesn’t consists in bad guys/villains and heroes. I highly recommend you to take a look into my closeting tag for the answers. But a brief explanation for why the closeting happened in the first place: you have to simply look at their targeted audience during One Direction and how the band was always sold. The idea of boybands like 1D essentially appeals to young heterosexual females, they fantasize about it, that's the whole experience. So if we take this interview down below as an example, you can understand why Harry and Louis being anything less than available for their fans would be career suicide:

Around 17:12 when they're trying to (unsuccessfully) deny "larry rumors", we can see basically the confirmation of their closeting. Louis says that if he was a fan he wouldn't like the idea of Harry and Louis together. Fans only like the idea of them with one of the boys. And you can literally see the honest confusion on their faces when the interviewer argues against that idea. Here's full post about it. So bands like 1D, NSYNC, Westlife, Backstreet Boys and so many others relied so much in the fans sexual interest on them, that's the image being sold. If you exclude H&L interest for women altogether, that would kill the experience for a lot of people, they would be a completely different band. Would they be so profitable if that was the case? Here's an interview with Lance Bass (from NSYNC, he came out in 2006), not only he talks about how being gay in a boyband would be completely unthinkable and ruin everything, but they even mention One Direction:

Contracts like x-factor ones allow full access to your image to the public, meaning that the record labels are willing to hide, lie or change the truth about their artists so they can have a more extensive targeted audience and therefore be more profitable. And what was extremely profitable for One Direction, was being heterosexual.

As for who is closeting them specifically, I don't think we have this one bad guy here to blame for everything. I think is much bigger than that. I do think Simon Cowell had a lot of control over 1D, he was definitely the "mastermind" behind it, but in my opinion the label and the industry all have massive parts on this too. Everyone does it, closeting is everywhere in this industry, it happens all the time because being openly queer is risky in terms of making money and being a huge artist. And labels want money, they want big artists. As for the Azoffs and Ben Winston, yes, Harry seems to have a great relationship with all of them, but they're not the people keeping him in the closet at all… so I don't really understand why they would be the "bad guys" in the situation. They're just people that the fandom don't really appreciate that much and a few people love to put the blame on them for some reason, but I don't think they have anything to do with their situation as closeted artists.

I noticed in that Lorna post that Larries are moving on to blaming BMG for the evil closeting of Louis. As if he would have signed yet another illegal contract specifying that he fake fatherhood! The Larrie version of Louis really is a hopeless sap who doesn't know his own human rights - very different from the real Louis who is smart and savvy.

Yuppp. When I was a Larrie I remember everyone saying that 2015 was gonna be the year of coming out, Irving azoff was going to save us all 😅😅 1D would no longer be trapped by the 1D contacts they had made when they were young and impressionable blah blah. Larries constantly shift the goalposts and honestly just tell constant contradictory lies. Eg,

- It was Harry and Louis’ 1D contacts that closeted them that they signed when they were young. They’d sign new contracts and would be free and they would never sign such a contract again. / Harry and Louis have signed new contracts with new management who are also participating in this illegal closeting because of reasons.

- Louis wasn’t talking about or being seen with Freddie because he’s doing the bare minimum and the plan is to phase babygate out. / Louis is now being seen with and posting about Freddie because they are ramping up babygate before they end it.

-Harry’s doing dwd as part of a stunt involving Olivia to boost his straight image as this is all that matters to his team./ Harrys doing my policeman because he’s allowed to explore his queerness because his teams ok with that but Louis’ isn’t, again because of reasons.

See where I’m going with this? They just make up new shit all the time then have the audacity to snap at any fellow Larries who question things and insist ✨it’s all going to plan✨

i'm curious about your thoughts on the whole jeff and harry relationship.

as someone who feels uncomfortable at how that relationship began (as an adult, i side-eye any other adult who decides to strike up a close friendship with a teenager, though i think in this case it was more greed and less creep), but sees that harry does seem to genuinely like and value jeff, but then has also picked up on some of the more recent tension that seems to be between them, one thing i've been thinking about a lot lately is that they have both a professional and a personal relationship, and while they're definitely twisted up together, they are still separate. fandom i feel like usually falls into either the camp of "harry and jeff are clashing over career stuff (residencies, holivia, merch issues, etc) and harry doesn't like jeff anymore" or "harry and jeff are still besties and harry is fine with all of the career stuff". i think it's possible that harry still values jeff as a friend but is maybe at a stage in his life and career where he disagrees with jeff's approach to certain things as his manager and is comfortable and confident enough to have that disagreement. and that could be anything from a serious tension to still being fairly confident in sticking with jeff and just more openly or strongly disagreeing about certain things lately.

This excerpt from this article has defined the entire way I see Jeff, mainly because it seems to have defined the way Jeff sees himself:

The younger Azoff got his first industry job at 21, as a “glorified intern” working for Maroon 5’s then-manager Jordan Feldstein. After a week of filing and fetching coffee, he called his father and complained that he was bored. According to Jeffrey, Irving responded, “Listen carefully, because I’m going to say this one time. You have a phone and you have my last name. If you can’t figure it out, you’re not my son.”

“Direct quote,” Jeffrey says. “It’s one of my favorite things he’s ever said to me. And it’s the spirit of the music business, by the way. There are no rules to this. Just figure it out.”

My opinion:

When the Azoffs swooped in, I think Harry was lonely because Louis was embroiled in the Zayn drama. I think he was unhappy because he couldn’t express himself or his queerness in the way he wanted. And in addition to wealth and an illustrious career, I think the Azoffs offered him friendship and what seemed like a more forgiving closet. And part of me thinks Harry feels indebted to the Azoffs for that reason.

But I can understand why people think the Azoffs inserted themselves into Harry’s life and his family’s life. People in the Azoffs’ circle, like Xander, became friends with Harry - and then business partners. And I’ve always felt like the humor of the “who is Jeff Azoff…” shirt was lost on me. Harry wearing that shirt seemed very demeaning, and he wore multiple versions of it on multiple occasions. But it’s a sticky situation because as much as the Azoffs and their friends (who became Harry’s friends) benefit, Harry is benefiting, too. I mean, I bet Harry is making more money from Pleasing than Xander. I think Harry and the Azoffs are genuine friends. I think they trust each other. And I think they share a common goal and vision. And as an outsider, there are aspects of their dynamic that have made me uncomfortable.

I agree that this is a studio/hollywood thing rather than the closeting we're used to with them and that's what's making this harder to understand. He might be more 'resigned' to this stunt because of it and therefore seem more willing to try etc. Even if it's not convincing in the slightest. I thought you were an actor Harry? 😉 (jk, I know he can act) but yeah.. this is new territory. Hopefully they know what they're doing and going w this mess. Also to Hollywood: it's 2021, for f sake 😒

Agreed 100%. I think Harry is too big a client for Jeff/Irving to not protect fully. Also, while the Azoffs are primarily music industry managers, Irving has produced a number of films. And like anyone good at their job, if you aren’t the expert in a certain field, you go find the experts. This whole thing may leave a bad taste in our mouths, but I’m not necessarily “worried” about Harry’s career. But man do I wish no one felt it was needed. I look forward to the day where the studio feels a movie with Harry is a movie they can bank on, without resorting to this nonsense.

Vamos a hacer memoria de quién es Harry y quién es Harry Styles.

Bien, hoy tuvimos mucha controversia frente a la imágen de Harry, frente a lo que se quiere vender como marca, hubo varías personas hablando del tan famoso y aclamado 'queerbait' pero ¿Qué es? El queerbait o queerbaiting, es una técnica de MARKETING que se 'utiliza' para vender a un público puntual, suele ser usado por artistas y en ficción (pantalla), esto suele llamar la atención pues incluye puntualmente a la comunidad LGBTIQ+, ¿Pero Harry, la persona que hemos visto, lo hace? ¿O es toda obra de management?

Harry ha aclarado varías veces que para él, la ropa no tiene ni color y mucho menos género, sin embargo, a pesar de la comodidad de él con todo tipo de prenda que le guste, obtenemos una expansión masiva de esto, alabandolo y aclamandolo como 'rompe estereotipos', a mucha gente le incomoda está imagen, porque sienten que H lo hace por números.

Sin embargo, tenemos bien claro que desde el 25 de septiembre de 2016, Harry no es más quién maneja su cuenta

Esto no quiere decir que Harry no tenga libertad creativa o que tengo 0 control, sin embargo, él dejó sus cuentas al público, incentivando su marca:

No es sorpresa para la mayoría de nosotrxs ver la diferencia entre HSHQ y lo que fue Harry con sus redes sociales hace unos años. Vimos pasar un cambio abrupto. Sabemos que el cambio no es por Harry es porque sus cuentas son manejadas por los Azoff (Jeff) . Pero,

¿Quiénes son los Azoff?

Azoff MSG Entertainment es una full stop management, es decir, manejan artistas y los representa, quiénes más suenan es Irving Azoff y su hijo Jeff. Irving Azoff ha trabajado durante años en la música siendo nombrado en 2012 entre los 100 hombres más influyentes en la industria musical, en 2013 fundó Azoff management, dandole una nueva imagen, a manejado artistas como:

Stevie Nick, Christina Aguilera, Bon Jovi, Maroon 5, 30 seconds to mars. Artistas con gran renombre dentro de la industria musical. En opinión personal Irving es un manager centrado, a logrado hacer triunfar a sus clientes de manera constante y tiene un manejo impoluto sobre sus clientes. Sin embargo, tenemos a Jeff....

Su hijo Jeff es un 'manager' musical, reconocido principalmente por ser el manager de Harry Styles. Jeffrey nos ha vendido a Harry de una manera extraña, haciendo entrevistas por él, contestando por él y hasta llamándolo "unicornio", pública y hace una constante aparición en proyectos y entrevistas, además de incentivar meter la 'marca' dentro de temas serios (tenemos el BLM, votaciones de EUA, entre otros), no sólo lo hace en las cuentas que maneja de Harry sino desde las suyas.

Constantemente da una imagen a Harry, tenemos a un Harry es un Crystal Closet, donde lo siguen enlazando con modelos, actrices y le dan una imagen 'queer' AUNQUE eso no es lo que nos vende Harry, eso no los vende su marca, quién autoriza artículos enlazandolo con toda mujer que hace parte de su vida, creando un sex symbol sin etiquetas, usando ropa que lo pone como un 'rompe estereotipos'.

¿Cuál es el verdadero problema aquí?

Autoriza entrevistas que le da una mala imagen a H, lo sigue vendiendo a un target juvenil cuándo estamos hablando de un hombre de casi 27 años, lo asocia con causas donde no debería estar Harry (como votaciones de activistas), autoriza artículos de su cliente con rumores de mujeres, da a Harry una imagen, vendiendola y usándola, sobre explotandola para vender como 'break stereotype' cuándo este tipo de imagen debe ser aceptada y tomada como lo normal, Harry lo dijo, LA ROPA NO TIENE GÉNERO y el día que lo entendamos lo tendremos claro.

Claramente está ropa es del agrado de H, se le ve cómodo, pero Azoff la está utilizando de una manera netamente de negocios, que Harry este usando un par de vestidos, y pueda levantar la bandera no lo hace libre y mucho menos lo hace un activista o algo parecido.

Lo único que nos están VENDIENDO es una imagen mal diseñada de Harry Styles™️ y no de Harry Styles. Viendo este post y analizándolo podemos llegar a estás conclusiones:

1. Harry no es dueño de su imagen, no maneja su imagen, su estilo vendió tanto que lo están usando de otra manera para llegar a más, y esto lo hace SU MANAGER y su equipo de PR.

2. Azoff no es amigo, él se encarga de seguir con el closeting de H, de vender una imagen paupérrima de Harry, además de darse pantalla a si mismo y ser el que le da un diseño de marca.

3. Azoff no está para cuidar a H sino para generar dinero.

every time a person, term, concept, place, stunt, song, etc. is talked about specifically, i put it as a tag so you can also search for that specifically. i have more tags, but these are the ones i use normally.

la I’ve been thinking about the hazoff loop fic all day... I WANT IT

OH BOY i can’t stop thinking about this fic either! hold on, let me catch up the rest of the class…

The premise of this hockey fic that you and @helenahjay got me to read is that the first time someone touches their soulmate they both go into a Loop in which they live that same day over and over again, Groundhog Day style, until they finally kiss and break the Loop. Couples use their Loop to get to know each other and get their first day absolutely perfect before they finally end it and launch the rest of their lives together. Obviously this setup is GLORIOUSLY PERFECT for hazoff. To wit:

Sometime in 2014 Harry goes to LA with 1D on some kind of business trip. Not to perform, but to meet with their American label people or marketing or something, blah blah blah. So Harry spends the day shaking hands and charming the world, meeting all sorts of new people, and that night someone from the label takes him to a party at the Azoffs’.

Harry knows who Irv is, knows Irv’s storied history, knows what Irv can do for him. This is the party that could change things for him. It’s important. And he nails it, of course. Charms Irv, charms Shelli, charms every aging rock star in the vicinity. Meets all sorts of people. Talks to Jeff, maybe incidentally, certainly inconsequentially. Maybe even cuts the conversation a little bit short because that’s Kendall Jenner across the room and he might just have a shot, the way tonight’s been going. The world’s opening up before him, and he feels invincible.

When he wakes up the next morning, he’s a little surprised to be alone in his own hotel bed. He can’t remember how the night ended; he hopes he didn’t fuck anything up. He hadn’t had that much to drink, he doesn’t think. He slouches into the bathroom, and on the way past the closet he notices last night’s shirt hanging neatly in exactly the position it was when his PA steamed it out after the flight.

Definitely not that drunk, he thinks, if he got his shirt hung up. He glances toward the chair, expecting to see his jeans draped over the back. They’re not there, and they’re not on the floor. They’re still in his suitcase, folded flat in a big ziploc bag with a post-it from Harry Lambert that says “Party Thursday. w/ YSL blouse, brown boots”

 Harry grabs for his phone. Yesterday’s date is today’s date. He’s in a Loop.

Initially he’s elated. Harry loves love, after all, and this is proof that true love is out there for him. He’s got a soulmate! He’s seen them! He’s touched them, somehow. Somewhere in all the handshakes and air kisses and bro hugs, he met his soulmate yesterday. They’re in LA, which is… weird. LA doesn’t feel like a place that belongs to him. Yet. Maybe it will.

But his excitement is mixed with irritation. He’s 20. (This is 2014, right?) It’s been a good few years of having a lot of no strings attached sex with a whole lot of people. He’s not quite ready for that to be over. And it doesn’t really have to be over yet, he reasons. He’s in LA. He can have some fun. Until his soulmate spots him, he can do anything he wants.

So he goes about his day just as he did yesterday. Coffee, workout, lunch, meetings. And then, the party. Harry lives it up at the Azoff party for quite a few loops. Always has to start by making the right impression on Irv and the rest of the industry presence, just in case he inadvertently snogs his soulmate and has to live with a day he can’t reset. But after that, he’s at his leisure in a room full of beautiful people, and he’s doing his best to sow his wild oats while he can. 

Kendall’s a good time and he strikes up a bit of a recurring friends with benefits arrangement with her, to the extent a friendship is possible when every day’s new to her. There’s definitely some xarry potential here too, although I’m not sure how angsty that part of the plot is. Maybe Xander’s an ideal hookup while Harry’s making the most of his Loop, or maybe Harry hopes for a few days that Xander might be his soulmate, and ends up disappointed.

Anyway, eventually there’s a day where Harry ends up talking to Jeff in greater depth, and likes him. Like Harry, Jeff’s got big dreams; unlike Harry, Jeff’s got plans. Jeff’s got a specific vision for where his career is going, and it’s incredibly compelling to Harry, who only has a big sprawling vague sense that he wants to perform, forever, and he wants to make music that makes him feel like the music he grew up with, and he has absolutely no concrete sense of how to make any of that happen.

Harry wakes up the next morning and calls someone from the label and asks them to get him Jeff’s number. He calls Jeff and asks if he can come by. Sure, Jeff says, any time you’d like (as he frantically recalendars to open up his morning). Harry shows up at CAA, and of course Harry’s welcome wherever he goes and especially in that setting, but there’s something particularly comfortable about being in Jeff’s office.

Harry’s tested Jeff and Jeff hasn’t given him any reason to think that he’s in a Loop, so Harry assumes that Jeff isn’t remembering any of this from day to day, which means that Harry fully opens up and says all kinds of candid stuff. Over multiple days, he tells Jeff everything, starts to put all kinds of things into words that he’s never expressed before: the things he wants to do, the ways he wants to make people feel, the fear that he’s not good enough dueling with the secret shameful sense that he is that good, or at least that he’s got some indefinable thing that his bandmates don���t.

Jeff listens, and asks thoughtful questions, and gradually helps Harry start to prune and direct and shape his unruly sprawl of ambition into a more focused five, ten, maybe fifty year plan. Harry decides that once all of this is over, he’d like to work with Jeff. And as they create the hazoff master plan, Harry starts to get more and more impatient to get on with it. With a clearer view of what his future might look like, he’s ready to end this Loop and start the rest of his life.

Which gets back to the issue of his soulmate. None of his suspected candidates have panned out. As Harry gets impatient, he gets more reckless, striding through the Azoff party announcing that he’s in a loop and he’s looking for anyone else who is. (This results in at least one person faking it in order to spend an evening with the full attention of Harry Styles.) He kisses absolutely everyone; he wastes loops doing dumbass stuff like stripping and jumping in the pool.

I have decided that a quirk of this verse is that the loop always resets at midnight, whether or not harry falls asleep. It takes him a few go-rounds to figure this out, after his initial assumption that he’s drank too much and forgotten how he got to bed. Does he confirm this conclusion by trying to slice his way past midnight with cocaine acuity? Possibly. Increasingly it wears on him that he never gets to see how the night ends. Maybe there’s even a day where he’s about to have a breakthrough but midnight cuts it off?

I do know for sure that there’s a day where he drinks too much at the party, or pretends to, and Jeff puts him to bed in a spare bedroom. (Or maybe even Jeff’s childhood bedroom?) He tugs Jeff down with him and convinces Jeff to stay until he falls asleep, because Jeff’s not going to remember this anyway, and Harry’s lonely and he just wants to fall asleep with somebody. He’s tired of relationships that only last a day. He’s tried to follow up with every single person he possibly could have touched on the first day of his Loop, and he still hasn’t found his soulmate. Why is his Loop going so wrong? He rubs his cheek against the shoulder of Jeff’s sportcoat. It would be easy if Jeff was his soulmate, wouldn’t it. At least he can find Jeff when all this is over. They’ll be friends, no matter who his soulmate is. They’ve got plans.

I don’t know how the reveal happens, whether Harry starts to suspect something or whether Jeff screws up or whether Jeff comes clean, but eventually it’s revealed that Jeff is in the Loop too. He’s kept quiet the whole time because he saw Harry at the start of the Loop, going after every pretty young model at the party (and/or every hulking lax bro), and he didn’t want to see the disappointment on Harry’s face when he realized his soulmate was Jeff. He just thought… if they got to know each other… eventually it would unfold naturally? (This was a terrible idea.) And then they started building this working relationship, and he’s loved that, and he’s been too scared that confessing would ruin everything, and it didn’t seem like there were any right words for it anyway.

Jeff is focused on explaining himself and trying to do damage control and he completely misses that this is exactly the wrong way to go about this conversation. What Harry needs to hear is that Jeff has been learning him all this time, drinking in every bit that Harry’s shown him, and every day of the Loop, every piece of Harry, has only drawn him in more and more. That love is a paltry word to describe how badly Jeff wants to wrap his entire being around Harry, body and soul. That he can’t believe how impossibly lucky it is that the universe has brought them together. And that of course he’ll live through it if Harry doesn’t feel the same way, but god, he’s all in, and he’s going to spend the rest of his life doing his best to make Harry happy, whether that’s as a colleague or a friend or a business partner, whatever Harry wants, Jeff will do it, Jeff will be it.

Jeff doesn’t say any of that.

And Harry feels utterly betrayed. He looks back in horror at all of the highly personal things he’s told Jeff with the expectation that Jeff wouldn’t remember. He can’t trust him, he can’t trust any of the plans they’ve made, how has Jeff just let him talk business at him for weeks and weeks when they were supposed to be falling in love? Above all else, Harry wants to be taken seriously, and Jeff’s proven that he doesn’t consider Harry to be a viable soulmate, let alone anything else.

Cue montage of Harry looping aimlessly through LA, trying to plot an alternate path forward. He knows he’s got to kiss Jeff eventually to end the loop, but he wants to have some idea of where he’s going after that. But of course none of the other managers or agents he talks to are Jeff; nobody else listens like Jeff does or understands what Harry wants the way Jeff does or seems like they’d be a true partner they way Jeff describes.

Anyway I’m not too clear on how Buttercup finally realizes that when Wesley was saying “as you wish” what he meant was “I love you,” but obviously that’s where this is headed. All I know is that at the end of the fic they watch the clock pass midnight and they finally get to end the night together.
