ok, sorry if question is a bit long and if you have answered, please put the link for me to see please. Well... what are the names of the heroes? What was each heroe's first choice? (I mean the ladybug and cat holder). I know that Marinette is with the Fox and Ivan with the turtle, but for some reason I think that if they swap it would combine more (I speak more in symbolism, ivan who cannot lie with the "miraculous of lie"). What is the weapon of each carrier? About the turtle and Ivan, I think a purplish blue would match more (that leatherback turtle). What are the camouflaged forms of each miraculous? Do you have the reason why every person has every miraculous?
A big ask, but thats okay! I'd love to answer! Note that some answers like names and weapons are subject to change, im not great with names and im less familliar with some characters than others so, opinions and other ideas are awesome :)
Tumblr media
Names and weapons, left to right:
Aliase Rouges (red wings), Cartoony sledge hammer
Veilluese (night light), Grappling hook
Bison? Hyland?, Guitar- its electric but doesnt have to be plugged in..
Adora (play on Adore), Frisbee
Ouroboros, Mirror shield (play on the medusa myth)
Tack (to temporarily fasten something together), Big Needle
Captain Stinger (shortened to Sting), Cutlass
Jockey?, Reins? maybe a whip
Alectryon, rooster body (i guess?)
Jack Rabbit (shortened to Jack), Pickaxe
Ridley (a type of turtle), Detatched shields- Bonus purpley-blue version: honestly it works just as well.
Tumblr media
Tora (Japanese for tiger, i think), Sythe
R.A.T (acronym for Rodent Assist Team? idk, funny bit based on pokemons F.E.A.R strat lol, also sounds like a dj name??. also based on his purpose being mostly assisting pedestrians), Glow sticks (almost like a pair of lightsabers, without the deadliness. Basically glowing battons)
Boar, Boomerang (shaped like boar tusks).
Cirrus (a type of cloud, Aroure and Mirelle share the name and the miraculous), Lightning rod/ wind sock
Caprix (Play on Caprine), Chunky roller blades
Gibbon? (a type of monkey), one of those silly stretchy sticky hands
Reasons for each holder are here!
First choices are also listed there, if there isnt an alternative listed, they either had the same idea or no strong preference for a different holder. Regarding swapping holders based on symbolism (i.e. Ivan with the fox, Mari with the turtle) that would be super cool and i may draw them at some point in the future, but wouldn't fit with my au. This is because my bug and cat holders choose them based on preexisting relationships, traits, and talents.
Camouflaged forms are these:
Tumblr media
Struggled with Alyas rabbit miraculous tbh, it doesnt quite fit with my au for it to stay a pocket watch anyway (the Rabbits power being swapped from Burrow in a time sense, to Burrow in a dig way) so i guess its normal activated form would be some kind of keychain? Alyas disguise currently is a tamogachi :)
Nino wears the mouse necklace wrapped around his wrist like a bracelet.
Max's snake bracelet turns into a smart watch.
Markovs claw connects to his existing claws, and mimics what claws he already has.
Mirelle and Aroure have similar chokers with the charm changed. Aroure has the lightning bolt, Mirelle has the rain drop. They have the chokers replicated by comission with Marinette so they can swap the actual miraculous between them when needed.
Sabrinas sunglasses are prescription. They could also be just normal glasses, no black tint, when appropriate.
Marcs ring, where rainbow, is iridescent!
The butterfly and peacock are still unavailable to our heroes.

It Starts With One
Characters behave recognizably canonically: No. It very AU. Not abandoned incomplete: Complete Engaging (Funny/cool/thoughtful/feels): Thoughtful/cool. Do I recommend it: Yes. It's my favorite. Curbstomp, Cuddles, Crack, Cyoot, Concept?: Concept
Premise: The author chose to summarize this as "Skitter goes into politics", and the first page shows a multi-billionaire cowering at her feet. This is not set on Earth Bet, most of the setting and characters consequently never show up at all, but Taylor is not messing around. It's 43 chapters and an Author's note. ..and (cackling) a brand-new epilogue. (I love you, Discreet.) But I swear, every time I reread it the chapters go so fast I keep misremembering it as half that long.
I've said enough already. I suggest you read it on AO3 now and don't open comments or even read more of this post. Plenty time enough for that when you inevitably come back to it some other time and reread. : )
This story started on Spacebattles but the mods and admins (for whom I have new-found contempt) permalocked the thread (almost halfway through the story) when it became apparent that it was possibly going to be politically engaging.
This is worse than absurd. It is hypocritical on every metric. But, as someone who is rereading the story for what is probably the fifth time, I decided to--for the first time--follow comments on both sites. I do not endorse that choice, but it's an option for a drama-lover.
(The very existence of Sufficient Velocity is allegedly due to some political drama. I was young and not aware or paying attention, but allegedly the SV folks schism'd off due to some right-wing shenanigans among the users and admins of SB. I do not know what I'm talking about, except that this is relevant to drama and perhaps the trigger-happy behavior of the mods of SB and similar sites was the petrified fear that maybe drama would again rear its head.)
At any rate, the people offended at the (false) idea that the story was advocating for old-fashioned guillotines (seriously, these people probably also think the author of Silence of the Lambs is a literal cannibal; I want the terms "Doylesian" and "Watsonian" in Wikipedia and taught in schools. (I can maybe make half of that happen, later.))
But I'm ranting. This story ...
spoilers
just go read it
spoilers
This story is not set in Earth Bet. Taylor's trigger is only implied. Danny's dead. There is no Watchdog (however the tortured acronym is spelled) and there aren't so many as five parahumans in the world as far as we know.
and the death toll on screen is negligible; fewer than ten, of whom only one or two even matter.
And off screen it's still smaller than pre-Leviathan Worm, or than pretty much any Worm fanfic of the curbstomp variety.
But some Spacebattles mods permalocked it because they're hypocrites and cowards (contempt for those mods and for those who agreed with them. The rest of the mods get a pass for now) and thank goodness for AO3.

Spoilers
Okay union-organizer Danny got killed, and Taylor is assumed to have died with him. Annette channels her grief or estrangement into doing community work. Taylor--who triggered with her bug powers and all the finesse and skill she had in late Worm--decides that the all-the-power-no-accountability-no-urge-to-help billionaire class needs to be made an example of. It's a flawed strategy. We know it. Taylor knows it. Her victims know it. But it's doing something. Which, pound for pound, is more than any of the de-facto mass murderers-by-inaction she aims herself at are doing.
And as she points out, having even one billion dollars is indistinguishable from having a superpower. Having that kind of power and doing nothing for humanity is shit.
Alas, once you've given Frodo a lightsaber there's a chance that Sauron has a Death Star. A high-level secret-squirrel spooky-ops agent named Andrea (but call me "Alex") who has too many skills and knows too much gets involved. And she has the powers from canon (though not the origin). And she's jaded, and thinks that all disruptive attempts to make things better are juvenile stupidity. Better to make slow gradual change and not jeopardize the status quo, right? Sure, she's on top, but that's not *why* she thinks this, right? Just, by disrupting the world via the unsanctioned execution of some major bipedal cancers, the protagonist is causing a LOT of trouble and some of that trouble will involve real human suffering of people in every financial class!
So Alex gets involved.
Here's part of why it's best to avoid the comments. Heck, it would have been best if you'd avoided reading MY commentary. Go read it!
...because the story isn't some Goofus and Gallant / Good Simon nonsense, and the story doesn't tell you "This person is on the side of the angels. This other person is evil boo hiss." The ending doesn't wrap it up for you with an added-on Aesop's Fables For Kids. It's just a story that runs its course, passes its final climax, and then wends its denouement away.
And leaves you changed.
Well, it left me changed. And also it left me appreciating what a great ride it was.
Aside from Taylor, Annette, and Alex, there are a few more (sometimes obvious (hi Aisha!) sometimes insanely subtle and plausibly deniable) cameos. I'm not smart or attentive enough to have caught them all. I'll enjoy looking again on my next reread.
I'm glad I reread it now, though. Not only was it some well-appreciated spirits-lifting, but the author added a new "final chapter" entry/line that gave me a loud and lengthy cackle.
