Is there a Tommy Wiseau or Ed Wood of videogames? There are lots of notoriously bad game designers, but I’m not talking about people who make blatant asset flips or other kinds of dull, soulless Extruded Videogame Product. I’m talking about people who seem to love the medium and have some kind of artistic vision in mind, their work is just... memorable for the wrong reasons.

#the literal 'Ed Wood of videogames'#is probably a she/they tranfem who makes self-published #point-and-click adventure games #with plots that are basically f/f homages/ripoffs of cold war era hammer horror #and graphics that alternate between uncanny valley photoshop #and middle-school-weeb-phase-caliber faux-anime #her repertory company of voice actors encompasses: her wife #her wife's pathfinder DM who wants to branch out into Actual Play podcasts #some theater kids from the local community college #a self-published-audiobook reader who is thrilled to be doing Real Voice Acting #a backyard wrestler with dreams of youtube stardom #the cool goth girl from the weed store #and a stoned italian baby boomer #who has an actual imdb page!#but his career as a professional creeper in b-list gialli #ended before its time due to drug and health troubles #he voices most of the Big Bads #on some level he knows he's making cheese #but it's good to feel like a real actor again #and the young people all treat him like a proper Legend of Horror #and goth girl's cannabis knowledge has genuinely helped with pain management
