the evidence and analysis is there but so is my crippling doubt
Questions to ask if ever you have Byler doubt:
Do people seriously think that a SHOW that is centered on nerds and social outcasts...
... shows how awful the popular kids can be...
... sides against anti-gay bullies...
... sides against abusers...
... supports LGBT+ people...
... has interracial romance...
... says to embrace being different...
... turns an expected hetero romance into a beautiful platonic friendship...
... criticizes moral panic/evangelism...
... shows that love can overpower hate...
... and whose characters don't want to recreate the nuclear family...
... do we think that show will let Will's love for Mike be the device for a conventional white hetero couple to be the show's "main relationship"?
Has the show even set-up Mike and El, who met through trauma and circumstance while they were children and have repeatedly lied to each other, for a lifelong commitment?
Who's actually delusional?
And who sees this show for what it is? And what it's clearly setting up?

#there is so much pro-byler analysis that is just so solid it makes it seem silly for it to not go canon#but at the same time#is one of netflix’s biggest shows and biggest money-maker really gonna risk breaking up a popular straight ship for it#like i’ve seen too many shows where the gay ship is so so obviously where the narrative wants to go#but it doesn’t happen. it just doesn’t.#(looking at you spn.)#im just trying not to get my hopes up. it should happen but it won’t that’s my prediction#ugh. anyway.#that concludes my byler rant
