Idek if it matters anymore, bit of a personal rant but all of the customer service people I've interacted with this past year just don't do the niceties anymore.

I don't blame them. I mean I'm sure they're burnt out, but idk it feels kinda...weird? Cause I worked customer service for years, and now when I go to a store and act standard customer service nice, it feels like I'm doing something wrong.

Maybe it's burn out, maybe it's that "being nice is manipulative" thing, maybe I'm doing stuff that makes me an asshole and I don't know it, at this point who knows.

Being nice to someone you don't like is not manipulation btw it's being civil

#like i straight had a sales lady interrupt me what like 4 times during our interaction?#and i dont mind being interrupted usually but she kept interrupting me to say stuff like 'so do you want this product?'#like im not talking just to talk im trying to tell you things about what youre offering and why im hesitant #at another store i was trying to ask a clerk about a bodywash scent that was discontinued to see if they had anything similar #i got as far as 'theres a scent that was discontinued and' then i got caught off and told they dont carry it #like yeah i know if youd just let me speak you would know what im here for.#is it maybe karens? like karens ruined everything? made everybody burnt out?#either way im a little bummed about it. just a little though #and this probably hasnt even been happening to anybody else but it feels like im being chided or treated like a child when i shop.
