Info about Silena!

General Description:

Silena is a young greaser who works to keep herself in the best shape possible. She has a confident walk and holds her head high. When speaking she is rather loud and loves to fit in a jab or joke whenever she can. Silena likes to socialize and is often always with friends.

Silena is 5’7 with an athletic build. She has a few northern Mediterranean features such as an olive undertone to her skin and a very defined face. Her hair is naturally wavy and is well kept and styled. Her eyes are a bright blue, and are often the first thing people notice when they see her. Silena also enjoys wearing very striking makeup, and always sports a red lip.

Interests and whatnot:

Silena LOVES makeup. She never goes a day without it. This isn’t out of insecurity, or a need to impress boys. Makeup is a way for Silena to express herself and boost her confidence. She loves bold colors and shimmers

Additionally, Silena is also very interested in hair care, styling, and hygiene. Her mother is a beautician and has taught her every trick in the book to keep nice, healthy, beautiful features. Silena will even pass her knowledge to other girls who ask. She’s happy to help.

There’s a certain boys she’s interested in. A lanky, brooding guy. Travis. (Travis is an oc that belongs to my partner.) She spends a lot of time with him, and I mean A LOT. It’s almost like he’s more of her boyfriend than her ACTUAL boyfriend. Hm. Strange. Great friends they are. Not like her boyfriend should be jealous, he goes after other girls all the time? What’s wrong with her getting even?

Silena loves Halloween. She goes all out for the holiday. She has Kate assist her in making her costumes and she goes to contests. Silena also works at a haunted house during the fall as a scare actor.

Beating up Earnest is a must.

Reputation:

Silena is liked amongst the jocks. As a cheerleader she pulls her weight on the team. She actually gets along with Mandy very well, and often worried about her due to Mandy’s self image.

She’s a well respected member of the greasers. Although she exhibits some of the same habits as Lola, Silena hasn’t yet brought her secret boyfriend around the greasers. She sees Lola as a blueprint of what not to do if you wanna cheat. She is close friends with Kate, and even views her as the twin sister she never had.

The press hate Silena and Silena hates the preps. She takes joy in egging their cats and tp’ing their mansions. Her favorite past time is watching the clique inevitably get squashed in rumbles. Although she does feel bad for Tad. He reminds her of Kate, just, really unbearable and rich.

Silena has gained enough respect with the greasers to mostly be left alone by the bullies. She can fend for herself against them pretty well. Bullying someone isn’t very fun when they give you back the same energy instead of cowering.

Silena hates Earnest, so she doesn’t like the nerds. She thinks most of them are smelly, unhygienic, and gross. Every once in a while she will either bully them or bribe them into giving her test or homework answers.

Okay yesssss!! There’s so Much Detail I put into that fic that I don’t know if people didn’t catch or just didn’t comment on but I’d love to talk about lololol!!! And basically just be like “look what I did” hahahaha

-for starters, I did put quite a bit of myself into it, such as: Jo hating AirPods (I think they’re so dumb) and Jo & Amy being really really into Duolingo and often doing friend quests together (literally me and my friend lololol we’re obsessed). A Cinderella Story and the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants were big movies for me growing up (I added Bend it Like Beckham for Jo cause duh). I even had John’s sinus surgery Meg references lol and Amy’s prized stuffed frog named Froggy is a reference to my prized stuffed bunny my mom named…Bunny. Like Jo, I think it’s horribly uncreative.

-I also used this fic as an excuse to dump my headcanons of who the March sisters would be as present day late 20-somethings (well Meg is 30 - Jo is 29, Beth is 27, and Amy is 26 (I think this matches their age gaps in the books) - I tried to subtly acknowledge all of their ages in the fic. Meg & John have been together half their lives since they were 15 - that’s also a little reference to George & Lemon from Hart of Dixie albeit more positive lol. Multiple references are made of Jo being almost 30. Jo makes reference to Beth not joining the 27 Club just yet. And Amy’s “revenge” of erasing all of Jo’s stories occurred when she was 13 & now she’s “twice that age”)

-Also getting to figure out who they would be in girlhood in the late 90s/2000s was a lot of fun as well! Like of course Amy had a Justin Bieber phase and Meg was a swiftie

-the March sisters group chat: I was very cognizant of how each sister would type. Meg types with perfect capitalization, grammar, and punctuation. Beth is looser but still has auto caps on. Meanwhile, Jo & Amy both have auto caps off (another shared similarity of course) (and Meg’s comment about Amy loading the car is a reference to Beth being sick)

-Meg buying her coffee from Blue Bottle (“basic and overpriced” to quote Jo) is my little reference to that scene where Meg buys the fabric she can’t afford in the 2019 movie. (Believe it or not, my only familiarity with the story is the 2019 movie which I’ve seen twice and read the script once) Basically, there’s still that girl who craves luxury deep inside her somewhere

-cancer obviously seemed like the natural modern equivalent to scarlet fever but a big part of why I’m reluctant to go deeper into this universe is that it bums me out to think of Beth dying but also…Beth is dying in this universe in the next few months or so. That is very very much a key element of Little Women I think, that Beth dies and the family has to find a way to go on living even in their grief, so no, Beth is not going to make some miracle recovery. She will die and that’s sad but it’s supposed to be. It wouldn’t be Little Women without grief.

-the headphones! When Jo makes her comment about not having headphones, she’s talking about herself, but Amy thinks she’s talking about Laurie! Which is why she reacts the way she does because she thinks Jo knows for a half second there

-Laurie grabbing an earlier flight was sooo cause of Amy. Also just want to point out that the third person narration only refers to him as Teddy cause it’s Jo’s POV and that’s what she calls him :)

-Amy of course refuses to meet Jo’s eye or hug Laurie for long because she’s trying to hide their relationship (as mentioned in the Laurie POV)

-the Bear article in Vulture about the one take episode is a real article published on July 29, 2022

-I decided halfway through writing it that the Marches would have a shit ton of cats they had taken in over the years but there was no natural way to fit a scene in about it so I just went back and started making a bunch of random small references to the cats whenever I could lol

-the avant garde letters bit is just a Julio Torres joke I stole lol

-this is very specifically set in August 2022 and as someone who still wears a face mask today, it was very important to me that I specify that they’re wearing face masks anytime they’re indoors in a public space (except only Beth is wearing one when they’re out at the strip club, because she’s immuno-comprised and can’t take a night off as Jo points out) also the rehearsal dinner takes place on the restaurants outdoor patio for that reason as well

-there wasn’t a lot of Marmee in this fic but anytime someone does a service for the family (tailors Meg’s dress, hosts the rehearsal dinner) you see her compliment them profusely which felt very in line with her character to me

-Beth is wearing a baseball cap at the Apple store…both to cover her bald head but also because as she mentioned earlier she burns easily

-of course, Laurie does not love the dig Jo makes at Amy because he’s in love with Amy!

-also, as discussed later on and in the Laurie POV, Laurie wants to talk to Jo to tell her about Amy

-also as mentioned in the Laurie POV, Jo is so surprised by the ooc bachelorette party Amy plans because it wasn’t her idea! It was Laurie’s!

-during their little fight at the rehearsal dinner, Jo thinks Laurie is noticing her sisters watching them fight, but really he was specifically seeking out Amy (and as you see in the Laurie POV, Amy did not walk home, she went out with Laurie)

-that part about Jo’s art consuming her in the big scene with Jo & Meg is very much inspired by Judd Hirsch’s scene in The Fabelmans

-heading over to the Laurie POV for a sec, the “very long intense conversation” they had about Amy having had a crush on Laurie growing up is of course a reference to the “I’ve been second to Jo my whole life” scene!

-the Marches having a backyard treehouse is a reference to my favorite Bones fanfic series Roots & Wings (specifically this scene)

-and finally, the ending: it’s of course a reference to the scene in the 2019 movie where Amy tells Jo to write something domestic. But it was also my attempt to be as meta as the end of the film was. “Who would want to read about that?” Well, millions and millions of girls over the past 150+ years have 🥹 And more personally, the reader of this fanfic just did as well ;)

I think about how we would look as a couple a lot because he’s like white passing but he’s gotta be mixed with something. His last name is French so honestly he could be mixed with anything.

As a black female, it’s something I think about a lot regardless of if I have a crush because you NEVER know who would even be into you or not! Majority of the time I just assume they don’t.

Men gotta show many hints/signs before I get a CLUE that you’re interested! Even black men themselves, I’m always surprised even they find something in me that they like?

I mean, I know I’m a nice person and being nice is a super attractive quality/trait in itself, but I always question what else attracted them bc skin is already against me if we consider society’s standards.

There’s always gotta be something I pick out physically about myself that I think stood out to a person and made them attracted to me. Usually, I think it’s my eyes.

I mostly get compliments on my eyes if I get a compliment on anything physical about me, so I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s what drew in certain people, including him.

But I always wonder SPECIFICALLY for him, what was it that he noticed first? What does he like about me? What does he physically like about me? Can he handle me? Bc I’m a lot more than just my skin.

But uhhh, yeah. I like our height difference. In terms of style, I definitely outdress him on most days I think, but he doesn’t dress in anything atrocious or hideous ever, like he knows what’s good.

And then his eyes are... surprisingly I can’t believe I even like him bc he has blue eyes and I don’t even like blue eyes... Until now! 🤷🏿‍♀️ he’s just so fine looking, couldn’t pass it up.

They’re not my preference, but I made an exception because he’s so hot/cute. LOL IK I sound like I’m trying so hard to bash blue eyes, but I honestly can say I don’t think I’ve ever really liked them!

Most of, if not, all of my crushes always had dreamy brown eyes 😍😍😍 so I guess I wanted to change it up for him 🥺 but remember! I wasn’t even attracted to him at first, it was more of a subconscious.

But idk our body types are different. That makes me nervous because he’s slim, I’m like average, with a little bit of fat on me. I always question can he pick me up if I need him to?

What if I want to be romantic?! He can’t just pick me up easily bc I’m not light at all! And IK men are built to be stronger but I don’t have trust that he’d be able to pick me up and carry me if wanted/needed!

Like I’m so hopelessly romantic and I feel like a lot of stuff that I’d want him to do if we were a couple would either be too hard to do, or impossible because of my body type and his body type.

I could also just be underestimating how strong he is, but he’s pretty.... as I said, slim, before. And I’d hate for him to get hurt bc of me looool. Yesss I think about these things.

Like the other day I watched a short video of Justin Bieber sooo simply and spontaneously pick up Hailey Bieber when she wrapped her hands around his neck and that got me in my feelings and daydreaming.

And like if I can’t have that... then ima be sad 🥺🥺🥺 bc IK I’m not a skinny little twig like hailey that I can be spontaneously picked up like that, but at least I want my man to be strong enough to do it

And idk if he can 🤔😬 sadly! I also think about family-wise is he a good fit? Like would we get a long. Would we be comfortable? Would HE? He’s coming into a black family...

I think it would take mad time just because of the way he acts... based on what I DO know about him. It would have to take some getting to know each other better to know for sure.

But my mom hasn’t necessarily disapproved of him when I talked about him. She just said, there are moments where she’s had to talk to him and he seems impatient, which wouldn’t be good for me.

So they technically already met/know each other, but just haven’t been formally introduced. And then I met HIS dad too, he just doesn’t know that yet! LOL. So I liked his dads vibes 🤷🏿‍♀️

There’s more to it than that, but for the most part idk I say it wouldn’t be the best, wouldn’t be the worst but depending on how we get along it could or could not be worth it

He seems like the jealous type. As if he’s not yet matured, or too insecure to feel completely trustworthy in a relationship ya know? So I feel like he would act territorial and stuff!

Like he wouldn’t want me talking to other guys/would try to limit me from speaking with people? Idk how that sits with me bc IK I’m friendly and nice but it depends on how hard he comes with it.

If he’s trying to CONTROL/MONITOR my every interaction and can’t handle even small talk with people and myself, then I’d probably have to just call it quits bc that’s senseless.

You ultimately can’t have control over a person and if you want to run wild with that power you think you have over me so badly, then it’s not worth it bc you’re saying in the relationship that you don’t trust me!

And that’s the point of relationships. If you don’t have trust, then what are you doing? Love doesn’t cut it only in a relationship, so you might as well not be in one if you don’t have trust.
