Final thoughts:

Ok, buckle up, this is gonna be a long one, because I have so much to praise about this movie. From the soundtrack to the imagery to the characters to the plot, everything about it is just so good.

First of all, I like how this is a less magic centric movie. Sure, Ro talks to animals, but that's as far as it goes. For the most part, this movie gets its magical feel from all of these subtler everyday things, like the beauty of nature, dreams about love, and the desire to find yourself, instead of relying on the more shiny magic we see in other Barbie movies. That makes the movie feel very unique, in my opinion.

I also really love the characters in this movie, especially Luciana, who's honestly the love of my life and one of my favorite Barbie characters. I think it's great that the movie didn't pit her and Ro against each other and had them fight over the guy, and also didn't portray Luciana as nasty/unlikable/inferior to Ro. Both of the characters get the chance to shine in their own way, and both of them deeply respect and appreciate each other, which I think is a great attitude and a really good thing to be showing kids.

Speaking of Ro, I really like how the movie didn't do the whole "she grew up away from society, so she's super clueless and naive and basically a child" thing with her. Like, sure, Ro isn't used to being around people and feels inadequate in human society sometimes, but she's smart enough to pick things up on her own, kind enough to make friends who can help her out when she needs it, and confident enough to still be true to herself all the way.

I also like how Antonio doesn't look down at her for not understanding his world that well. I feel like in this type of movie, the love interest is usually some guy who pats the protagonist on the head and teaches her how to do everything, almost like a parent, but Antonio's not like that. He trusts that Ro is smart and capable, values her unique abilities, and sees her as an equal, which I think is so much healthier for a romance. I gush a lot about the possibility of Ro and Luciana being together, because again, Luciana's little crush on her is adorable, but if I'm being honest, I think Antonio and Ro are one of the best Barbie canon ships, and I don't actually want to break them up.

So yeah, there's a lot more that I could gush about in this movie (namely the amazing soundtrack, the well structured plot, and Azul and Sagi's relationship), but I think this is getting long enough already. I'll just wrap things up by saying that this movie is genuinely amazing, and I think it deserves more love.
