If you can say one thing about Zoro and Sanji, they know exactly which buttons to push to make the other lose their cool completely.

the new one piece chapter goes so unbelieveibly fucking hard. however. i genuinely think that was the meanest thing sanji could have ever called zoro ever

#and let’s be real Zoro was not taking that fight seriously #or at least he was treating it like an exercise in the middle of a crisis #he wasn’t even fighting with three swords while the buster call to end all buster calls was kicking off nearby #Zoro doesn’t have a HUGE character arc #it resolves pretty early #he goes from his entire pride being in his swordsmanship #to his pride being in his crew #and his swordsmanship being the means to protect them #he goes from ‘I’ll slit your throat if you get in the way of my dream’#to ‘I am renewing my promise to be the best in your name’#to ‘actually I don’t deserve my dream if I can’t keep my crew safe’#which is of course the nothing happened moment #and I feel like him refusing to fight Lucci with three swords out of pride #is a throwback to cocky pre-mihawk Zoro #where his pride in his swordsmanship came first #and Sanji in the grand tradition of giving each other zero inches ever #correctly clocks this #and throws a knife he know will hit between the ribs #and it works because Zoro absolutely snaps out of it and gets to fucking work
