After the last time Stephen went into the mirror dimension to fight the latest villain away from civilians and got hurt much more seriously than anyone had anticipated, it was decided that he wouldn't go back there, not for a long time. And yet he did. He thought he needed to go back and confront the growing fear inside of him. Surely, he couldn't be Sorcerer Supreme if he was afraid of hopping into another dimension?

A week, an entire set of seven days he got lost. Tony's been worried out of his mind and when Stephen finally reappears at a gala Pepper forced him to go, they both know what they need to make it all better.

Tony's always been one to give is all to others - his time or money, his attention or his sleep, pleasure too, his own derived from the sole satisfaction of seeing his partners take pleasure from him and what he could do to them. Until he met Stephen, until he let his guard down and let Stephen take over.

After his accident, Stephen withdrew from the world for months. Christine eventually managed to get through to him and show him his life was far from over. There were setbacks, true, but Stephen was determined to get his life in order once again which is how he found himself accepting a teaching position miles away from New York, in a high school near Boston.

That's where he met Tony Stark, and where the last of his reluctance to live seemed to vanish.

Tony and Stephen have an announcement to make. It's always fun to debunk other people's assumptions, isn't it?

They're different in the way they enjoy being handled. Where Tony revels in praise and restraints, Stephen needs to feel used and played with, almost ignored except for the complete overtaking of his body and mind. Pepper makes it her mission to pull at each of their individual strings in turn.

"They eventually made their way back to the others, Peter ducking to avoid tickle attacks the whole way there. It was easy to sense the change in his dad’s mood the second they reached the room though. One moment Tony was laughing and teasing Peter to no end, the next his mouth was set in a hard line, his eyes in a black glare of anger. 

Peter followed his dad's gaze up until he found with exact certainty the reason for Tony's change of attitude."

Tony had come home to the penthouse to find Stephen not exactly kneeling for him but sitting kneeled in the center of the bed nonetheless, once, twice, until he stopped pretending it was just a perfect position to sit idly by himself, until Tony could stop hiding his faint smirks, not buying it for a second. 

It was a beautiful show to witness, that of such a strong-willed man with such a clear idea of who he was, or so he thought, battling with himself for weeks on end before he let go.

Or when Tony and Stephen find the perfect balance.

When Tony overworks himself to the point of not realizing he's injured, Pepper, Friday and DUM-E plot to get him the comfort he needs and will never ask for. It takes the form of one very worried Stephen Strange. It's soft and it's snark and it's them, a new beginning they both deserve.

The relationship tying Peter to his Daddy, from the youngest age to his teenage years, seen through Tony's eyes. And to think Tony was worried.

“Hello,” Tony breathed against Stephen's lips, the word gentle and the kiss it led to even softer. It left the both of them heavy-lidded already, Stephen’s lashes batting a little to regain some semblance of composure. 

“Happy twenties, Anthony,” he brushed their noses together, delighting in the hitch in Tony's breath before he took a step back, a hand still resting on the other man's hip. 

It took a moment of gazing into each other's eyes for Tony to shake himself enough not to let go of all his plans and have Stephen right there and now. Instead, he squared his shoulders a little, not missing the faint flush on Stephen's cheeks nor the way he couldn't help looking him up and down as he answered, “Happy anniversary, gorgeous,”

After his accident Stephen disappeared on Tony and this is the fallout.

He breathed so much more easily now, so much more freely knowing he could just come here, in Stephen's house like it were his, wandering down the hallways - with caution still, he didn't want a repeat of the last time he opened a door and found himself on another continent, no thanks - and eventually finding the master of the house.

O4, Curse, Red Dust (T | 800w)

Even as he knows the Snap’s been reversed, that his son is safe and sound in his very own bed and his husband is lying right next to him, Tony can’t seem to make himself let go - every night brings him right back to this one day he’ll never be able to forget, none of them will.

It's a lazy afternoon in the Stark-Strange household wherein two brothers enjoy some quality time with their Dad, painting and snacking and telling Nick Fury to please back off and thank you.

prompt - angst.

I said I wouldn’t write any post-Endgame fic because i was in pure denial. I did this anyway.

Stephen and Tony’s ghost.

“I’m sorry.”

The ghost smiles at his apology, a slightly confused, gentle smile. “You have nothing to apologize for,” it says, and then it’s...it’s really Tony, Tony Stark.  Not a ghost, not a memory, but the man that he had known for thousands of years and fell in love with over millions of lifetimes. “Stephen, I promise, you don’t…”

“I tried to find another way.”

Tony nods and takes hold of his hand. He’s insubstantial, no more than air, but Stephen can feel the touch on his aching flesh. “I know,” he assures. “I know that if there had been any other way, then you would have made sure it happened…” “I could have...I could have let it lie,” Stephen admits, the words a deep, cutting shame. “There were outcomes where we died, where the vanished never returned, but...those weren’t entirely losing outcomes. You could have survived. Thanos would have stayed away, no longer a threat until a time when there were ways… You could have lived on with your family.”

“It wouldn’t have been winning,” Tony assures him. In an instant, the spirit is sitting down in his chair, legs crossed. It’s such a human gesture for someone who is gone. “There would be billions of people ripped out of their lives. You didn’t have to see what the world became after you were taken…”

“What do you mean?”

“Natasha worked with this foundation,” Tony murmurs. “The Lost Children… They were still, five years later, trying to place millions of orphans into homes. They’ll still be working at reuniting families for years to come.” 

“I know…”

“And the suicides,” Tony points out, a sad look crossing his face. “It’ll be decades before we find out how many we lost. He took half the population and they’re back, but we’ve still taken a huge hit. Suicide, accidents…”

“I wanted…”

He blinks and Tony is behind him. Arms wrap around him and he feels them, even if they’re not there. “I don’t regret it,” he promises, leaning slightly on Stephen’s shoulder. “I hate that I had to go, but...I don’t regret it.”

“Your family.”

“They’ll survive. They will move on and thrive eventually. The pain will pass and they’re gonna be great. I believe in them.”

“They deserved more. You deserved more.”

“Maybe,” Tony admits, the word soft. Even though he’s gone, he acknowledges the truth, the fact that he deserved a life that he never got. “I did, yeah. So did you. I know that you saw so many possibilities…”

Stephen turns so that he’s facing the ghost, a spirit that is getting less and less tangible by the moment. He’s never really understood the scope of those who were gone, spirits who visited and left and returned to the world of the living. Tony knows all of the things that he saw. Of course he does.

Tears fall, tears for Tony and for the lives lost. 

Tony wipes at his cheek lightly, but the tears don’t go anywhere.

“I’m sorry too,” he says. “In another life, you and I could’ve been something wonderful.”

“What do I do now?” Stephen asks, as Tony leans down and presses their lips together. 

The kiss is momentary, but it means everything. When he pulls away, Tony says one word before vanishing.

“Thrive.”

So for the IronStrange bingo card, I have an idea for the candle one. I don’t know if you’ve watched Merlin or are catching up but there’s an episode in season two where Merlin finds Freya who’s cursed to become a beast every night and one of the things Merlin did to make her feel less alone and loved and accepted was showing his magic by making the flames of the candle float from the wick or something. It was an awesome scene to me.

I hate this with the passion of a billion of burning suns, but I’m working on it since forever and this is the version that I like the most, so here we are. And blue is Stephen’s colour so that’s why he’s blue. 

So, this goes for my “monochrome” square in the @ironstrangebingo and itì’s also inspired by @stark-raving-strange  ‘s beautiful fanfic “Cue up, Don’t stop me now...”. I’m sorry this isn’t a masterpiece but I can’t draw masterpieces. Also, Columbia University apparently has something like 5 different logos, but I liked the crown better and I feel like this would have been college!Stephen’s choice.
