[Rebis][Irene Marchesini][Carlotta Dicataldo]

Rating: 4.5/5
Book Blurb:
For fans of Nimona and Snapdragon comes an exquisitely drawn medieval story about the friendship between a runaway child and a mysterious witch.
Born with paper-white skin, Martino is an outcast. To the villagers, albinism is more than a curiosity—it’s a curse. Bullied and shunned, Martino seeks refuge in the deep woods—and finds it in Viviana. Powerful and beautiful, Viviana belongs to a sisterhood of outcast women. Martino is welcomed into the fold and, drawing on the magic of the forest, is reborn.
In Rebis, Italian duo Irene Marchesini and Carlotta Dicataldo deliver a medieval fantasy steeped in mystery—a haunting and hopeful tale of transformation and found family.
Review:
A sweet and beautiful story about the friendship between an outcast runaway child and the mysterious witch who lives in the woods. Martino was born an albino and seen as a curse by the village, not only being bullied and shunned but being blamed for everything that went wrong in the village. Martino finds solace in the woods where Viviana, the witch lives. Martino befriends Viviana and soon a sweet friendship grows. As Martino begins to grow and find a new family, the story shows the delicate and sweet progress of it all. It's a really charming story about found family, change, and acceptance. So beautifully drawn and charming, it's a great coming of age story and a really sweet one that deals with being an outcast and coming into yourself and embracing who you are.
Release Date: April 1, 2025

Ribes | Irene Marchesini & Carlotta Dicataldo
Eravamo considerate sbagliate. Io voglio essere come te. Irene Marchesini (testi) e Carlotta Dicataldo (disegni) mi…

MID YEAR BOOK TAG 2023
i've seen this book tag going around and since i'm reading a lot more than my usual this year, i decided to do this myself too!
best book you've read so far: The Witch's Heart by Genevieve Gornichec, Daughter of the Forest by Juliet Marillier and Nell Ruell va all'Inferno by R.J. Driscoll. for the latter book i don't know if the author has the intention to translate it in english, but if you read in italian and you're looking for a standalone fantasy with a dark setting and well written characters with also good queer representation, it's definitely worth a chance
best sequel you've read so far: The Dragon Republic by R.F. Kuang
new release you haven’t read yet but want to: i'm going to talk only about italian releases for this and the next question, so The Bone Ships by R.J. Barker, Fable by Adrienne Young, The Dance Tree by Kirian Millwood Hargrave and Clitemnestra by Costanza Casati
most anticipated release for the second half of the year: O mirto o morte by Titania Blesh, Il tredicesimo nume by Giorgia D'Aversa, A Day of Fallen Night by Samantha Shannon and Child of the Prophecy by Juliet Marillier
biggest disappointment: The Wolf Den by Elodie Harper. i found it kinda boring and right now i don't think i will read the sequels
biggest surprise: Detriti by Giuliana Leone. i bought this book knowing nothing about it except for the first little teaser the publisher shared and i end up loving it
favorite new author: Juliet Marillier, Genevieve Gornichec and Silvia Moreno-Garcia. manifesting for having more of their books translated here in italy
newest fictional crush: i haven't got any
newest favorite character: Fang Runin from The Poppy War, Nell Ruell from Nell Ruell va all'Inferno and Evie from Detriti
book that made you cry: The Poppy War by R.F. Kuang
a book that made you happy: Rebis by Irene Marchesini and Carlotta Dicataldo
favorite adaptation: i haven't watched any this year, but i'd really want to watch the Nimona movie
prettiest cover: Memorie di uno spirito felino by Marga Biazzi, Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia, The Keeper of Night by Kylie Lee Baker and Fable, not only its cover but the edition itself with sprayed edges is very pretty. to be honest i read and bought several books with covers i like this year and picking was a little bit difficult, but you can see these four under the cut
a book you need to read before the end of the year: besides the releases previously mentioned, The Burning God by R.F. Kuang, Son of the Shadows by Juliet Marillier and i'd also like to reread both Jurassic Park and The Lost World by Michael Crichton
i'm not tagging anyone, but consider yourself tagged if you're interested in doing this too!

HG/ Aural Sculpture(s) and Bad Seeds + ConiglioViola + Jadmx
Elenco artisti:
Karin Andersen, Luigi Mastrangelo, Nicola Micatrotta, GianLuca Parente, Christian Rainer,Georgeanne Kalweit,Nark BKB,Alice Pedroletti, Daniela Guerrizio,Roxy in the Box, Massimo Colizzi, Alessandro Rivola , Pino Rizzo, Sara Capatti, Claudia Attimonelli,Alessandra Mancini, Juan Carlos Ceci, Tony Robles, Alice Volta, Elena Rapa, Marc Giloux,Lorena Viale,Smush,Alfredo Ricci,Roberto Ratti,Massimo Lovisco,Fausto Colavecchia,Monica Condini,VRU,Massimo Giacon, Sawako Aramaki, Benjamin Altermatt,Stefania Perdetti,Valeria Borrelli, Mariagrazia Colasanto, Flavio Demarco, SquP,Jennifer Ramsay,Stefano Pasquini,Domenica Bucalo,Paolo Maggi,Roberta Fanti,Daniele Girardi,Michele Santarsiere,Tucha,Rafael Arrabal, Alessandra Traverso, Sergio Dagradi, Bruno Benuzzi, Annalisa Cattani, Fabrizio Rivola, Rachele Salvioli, Eva Sauer, Davide Coltro, Elisa Laraia, Sarah Paupardin, Angelo Paolosanto, Stephanie Portoghese, Fedra Boscaro, Sarah Paupardin, Elia Fabbio, Marina Bolmini, Stefano Marchesini, Paolo Bernardini,Dario Mercuriali, Andrea Facco, Katharina Dieckhoff, Irene Zangheri,Gomez Bueno,Roberto Cascone, Roberto Freak Antoni, Giuseppe Pietroniro,Francesca Grilli,Silke De Vivo, Silvio Giordano, gruppo Sinestetico, Uccibiondi, Cristina Pavesi, Giulia Mazza, Edo Grandinetti, Kai Zen, Maurizio Salconi, Giuseppe Satta, Maseda, Francesco Mestria, Felice Lovisco, Evilia Di Lo Nardo e Daniele Tito, Luca Pagani, Pino Oliva, Mimmo Rubino, gruppo Assocartoons, Andrea Romano, Jadmx, ConiglioViola, Raffaele Iannone, Sergio Perrotta, Luciano Appignani, Michele Somma, Francesco De Molfetta, Vito Palladino, Vito Pace, Marisa Santopietro, Marcello Samela, Antonello Faretta, Michael Rotondi, Antonio Adobbato.

ILF2 Is a Regulator of RNA Splicing and DNA Damage Response in 1q21-Amplified Multiple Myeloma
Publication date: Available online 29 June 2017 Source:Cancer Cell Author(s): Matteo Marchesini, Yamini Ogoti, Elena Fiorini, Anil Aktas Samur, Luigi Nezi, Marianna D'Anca, Paola Storti, Mehmet Kemal Samur, Irene Ganan-Gomez, Maria Teresa Fulciniti, Nipun Mistry, Shan Jiang, Naran Bao, Valentina Marchica, Antonino Neri, Carlos Bueso-Ramos, Chang-Jiun Wu, Li Zhang, Han Liang, Xinxin Peng, Nicola Giuliani, Giulio Draetta, Karen Clise-Dwyer, Hagop Kantarjian, Nikhil Munshi, Robert Orlowski, Guillermo Garcia-Manero, Ronald A. DePinho, Simona Colla Amplification of 1q21 occurs in approximately 30% of de novo and 70% of relapsed multiple myeloma (MM) and is correlated with disease progression and drug resistance. Here, we provide evidence that the 1q21 amplification-driven overexpression of ILF2 in MM promotes tolerance of genomic instability and drives resistance to DNA-damaging agents. Mechanistically, elevated ILF2 expression exerts resistance to genotoxic agents by modulating YB-1 nuclear localization and interaction with the splicing factor U2AF65, which promotes mRNA processing and the stabilization of transcripts involved in homologous recombination in response to DNA damage. The intimate link between 1q21-amplified ILF2 and the regulation of RNA splicing of DNA repair genes may be exploited to optimize the use of DNA-damaging agents in patients with high-risk MM.

Marchesini et al. show that in multiple myeloma the overexpression of ILF2, resulting from chromosome 1q21 amplification, drives resistance to DNA-damaging agents partly by modulating the interaction between YB-1 and the splicing factor U2AF65 to promote the processing and stabilization of transcripts involved in homologous recombination. http://ift.tt/2tw42aE
