(And at the end of the post: that's actually why you've never cleaned a sensor before.) 🧔 Few days ago I met a photographer who has been in the business as a "professional" for decades, yet he is a fungus denier. He argued that he had never seen fungus inside a lens in his life, so it was all nonsense. It’s almost more fun than the flat earth theory. ☠️ In connection with this, I would like to point out something about the margins of why "little" or "dead" fungus infected lenses are so dangerous. 📷 I got a Canon 350D with optics infected with fungus. The body is dead, so I can show you that over the years, not only the optics has fungus, but also the IR filter layer and the sensor protector glass! 🔧 It can be cleaned, but for this operation the whole camera must be disassembled, so do not wait until the machine has been pressed by a fungus optic. T mirror, the AF-mirror, the ground glass and OVF are also infected. 🛠️ Curiosity: when you say "sensor cleaning", you are actually cleaning the IR filter in front of the sensor, the part that is reflected red on the attached images (this only allows electromagnetic radiation in the visible range to the sensor - this part is removed during an infrared conversion of a camera). Behind it is a very hard, also coated (anti-reflective) layer, and then below it (combined with a microprism layer) is the sensor itself, which of course you can never touch with anything under any circumstances.
