Beyond his on-field exploits for India and CSK in the IPL, Dhoni holds the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Indian Army. He also recently made a cameo in a Tamil-language film, bringing him closer to fans in Chennai and Tamil Nadu, who lovingly refer to him as ‘Thala.’   #4 Bhuvneshwar Edges Rahane for Most Underrated Player
In a sea of players, certain names tend to be overlooked when the discussion centers on the most popular and eye-catching stars. From the fans' perspective, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Ajinkya Rahane stand out as the most underrated players, earning 18% and 16% of the votes, respectively.   Both athletes have been unsung heroes of their respective sides' victories in the IPL, and the stalwarts now find themselves in the fray of the mega auction after their teams opted to move on and retain a younger core of players.   #5 Jake Fraser-McGurk: Rising star for IPL 2025 IPL 2024 witnessed several young batters throw caution to the wind and redefine T20 batting, with multiple totals exceeding 265 runs. Among the rising stars, Abhishek Sharma, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Riyan Parag, Tilak Varma, and Tristan Stubbs stole the spotlight, showcasing their range of shots with impressive strike rates.   Fraser-McGurk edged out Rinku Singh by 1% to top the list of players in contention for the 'Next Season's Rising Star' title, securing 40% and 39% of fans' votes, respectively. The Most Wickets In IPL History
The 18th edition of India's largest cricketing event, the Indian Premier League (IPL), is scheduled to take place in 2025. Particularly in the bowling section, the rivalry has reached new heights as ten teams aim to win the coveted crown. Even though hitters frequently take center stage, bowlers in the game's shortest format still treasure the Purple Cap, which is given to the player who takes the most wickets in the tournament. Due to the IPL 2025 mega auction, the franchisees will be under more pressure for the next season. All eleven teams will try to restructure their rosters by adding new players and keeping some of their old players. One lingering uncertainty is the Impact Player rule, which caused debate in past seasons. Given how it can impact bowling plans, a number of teams and players have expressed worries about its possible continuation.
The Sought-After Purple Caps and Its Seekers
Even though there were a lot of runs made throughout the 2024 season and new batting records were established every other day, teams know that bowlers are frequently the ones who assist them in winning games. Despite carrying a hefty price tag, pacers Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins, who were the most expensive players in the last auction, generously returned the favor to their respective franchises. Promising bowlers like Mayank Yadav, Harshit Rana, and Vaibhav Arora rose to the top of the IPL 2024 rankings and might be serious candidates for the Purple Cap in the IPL 2025 schedule. They will, however, have fierce opposition from well-known players, such as Harshal Patel, the Purple Cap winner from the previous season, who took an outstanding 24 wickets. Besides, there will be more elite players competing in the Purple Cap race in 2025, making it more competitive.
Bowlers - A Necessary Asset For IPL Teams
The importance of bowlers in the IPL cannot be understated. Although each side has a strong batting order, the bowlers frequently tip the scales. Some teams in the IPL have struggled in the league due to a lack of bowling skills. However, the league's top teams, like the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), and Mumbai Indians (MI), have established their dominance thanks to their pool of excellent bowlers. Even the Gujarat Titans (GT), the IPL's 2022 debutants, used their bowling arsenal to win a significant number of games. This suggests that in order for teams to succeed in the lucrative competition, bowlers are essential.
Tumblr media
Yuzvendra Chahal - The Best of The Best
While we are on the subject of successful bowlers in IPL, how can we forget about the phenomenal Yuzvendra Chahal who is currently the highest wicket-taker in the history of IPL. With 205 wickets in 160 games, Yuzvendra Chahal holds the record for most wickets in IPL ever. He achieved this position after dismissing Nitish Rana, the captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders, in the 56th match of IPL 2023 between the Rajasthan Royals (RR) and KKR. The leg-spinner, who played for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) from 2014 to 2021, took 139 wickets at an economy rate of 7.58 in 113 games. He played for RR in 2022 and took 27 wickets in 17 games, earning him the Purple Cap. When the wrist spinner held onto a return catch from MI's Mohammad Nabi in the 2024 Indian Premier League, he broke the 200-wicket milestone.

How PKL went on to become the biggest Kabaddi league?
Pro Kabaddi League or PKL is the biggest and most popular professional Kabaddi tournament hosted in India. Launched in 2014, PKL features top international men kabaddi stars, who go under the hammer every season in the PKL auction. The tournament is the second most watched sports league in India after the very popular Indian Premier League. While the league is broadcast on Star Sports, there are various online platforms that provide kabaddi fanatics with the PKL live score. The idea of PKL came into life after the popularity of the sport at the 2006 edition of the Asian Games.
Ever since the IPL has become popular in the Indian subcontinent, several sports came up with a league-based tournament, and PKL was no different. Like the cash-rich cricket league, PKL also follows a franchise-based model and was first hosted in 2014 with the participation of eight teams. Since kabaddi was less popular than cricket and had fans at grassroot levels in India, there were doubts whether the league would sustain or not. However, Indian fans as well as sports lovers across the globe adopted PKL and soon, the sport got fans in regions where the sport wasn’t much popular earlier.
The best part about PKL has always been the thrill it offers to fans and audience. Since its inception a decade ago, the league hasn’t seen one champion team every season. For example, Patna Pirates has won the tournament three times, consecutively. On the other hand, teams like Jaipur Pink Panthers have been crowned champions twice, while names like U Mumba, Bengaluru Bulls, Bengal Warriors, Dabang Delhi K.C and Puneri Paltan have won one title once.
The 2024 season of the PKL is set to begin on October 18 in Hyderabad. Unlike past editions, PKL Season 11 will have a three-destination format instead of the traditional 12-destination format in 2024. The first leg of the tournament will unfold in Hyderabad before the action moves to Noida Indoor Stadium and then Balewadi Badminton Stadium in Pune. The dates of the play-offs will be announced later along with their venues. Those who cannot travel but don’t wish to miss out on the action can rely on several media platforms for kabaddi live score. Earlier, League Commissioner Anupam Gosawmi expressed his excitement about the upcoming edition of the PKL 2024. He highlighted the potential of the forthcoming edition to elevate Kabaddi’s status further domestically and globally. He said, "After successfully completing 10 seasons, PKL Season 11 will mark a new milestone in the continued rise of the league. This would strengthen the growth of Kabaddi in India and elsewhere around the world."
PKL 2024 auction
In the auction for the next season, several players underwent bidding war in Mumbai, which shattered several records. A total of eight players secured bids of more than INR 1 Crore. Sachin Tanwar who was sold to Tamil Thalaivas, became the most expensive player with a bid of INR 2.15 Crore. Following him was Mohammadreza Shadloui Chiyaneh, who was sold to Haryana Steelers for INR 2.07 Crore. Other than him, Guman Singh (Gujarat Giants), Pawan Sehrawat (Telugu Titans), Bharat (UP Yoddhas), Maninder Singh (Bengal Warriors), Ajinkya Ashok Pawar (Bengaluru Bulls), and Sunil Kumar (U Mumba) secured bids of more than INR 1 Crore.

The mega auction for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 will be held in November end or early December, BCCI sources informed on Wednesday. The rules and regulations for the same will be released by Board for Cricket Council of India (BCCI) in a couple of days, they said.
The Indian Premier League has held two large auctions in the past ten years, with four-year intervals in between. The first major auction was held in 2014, then in 2018–when the Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings made their comeback after a two-year suspensions.

[ad_1] A pure batter almost never becomes the most expensive player at IPL auctions. One has to go back to 2014-15 and Yuvraj Singh. But even Yuvraj’s friendly left-arm spin had notional value. Players who bring more than one skill to the table generally invite bidding wars. We are talking about a very elite category of players who would be chased by at least three teams in the auction room. PREMIUM Players who bring more than one skill to the table generally invite bidding wars(IPL) With an additional purse of ₹50 crore – ₹5 crore per team – at their disposal and a long list of released players, teams have money to spend. The collective purse is ₹262.95 crore, whereas the 10 teams spent ₹167 crore last year. But only four teams have more than ₹30 crore and plenty of slots to fill. Despite the demand-supply imbalance, Sam Curran’s ₹ 18.5 crore record doesn’t appear to be under threat. Who would win the day from the 333 registered players in Dubai on December 19? The Impact Player rule opens up possibilities for a specialist. But gaps in playing squads and India’s batting-heavy T20 talent pool suggest England's Harry Brook and England's Rachin Ravindra may fall short of becoming headline buys. Like every year, the big Indian names and potential match-winners have all been retained or traded. For a paucity of Indian lower-order batting options, Tamil Nadu power-hitter Shah Rukh Khan may fetch a good sum. Among capped Indian players, Harshal Patel’s slower ball isn’t fetching him wickets anymore and Manish Pandey isn’t a T20 force. Shardul ThakurIt’s quite likely that one of the 30 overseas vacant slots will give us the most expensive buy. But don’t rule out Shardul Thakur. Don’t just look at his inability to justify his ₹10 crore prize tag last year. Or that he doesn’t bowl all that well at the death or powerplay. In a classic case of demand outweighing supply – Jaydev Unadkat took home big money in 2019 auction - Thakur for his all-round skills, wicket-taking ability, aggressive batting potential as well as international experience will again invite bidders. How far the bidding goes would depend on what franchises think about India’s domestic bowling pool. The other pace options include Harshal Patel, Umesh Yadav, Kartik Tyagi, Chetan Sakariya and younger all-rounders Shivam Mavi and Raj Angad Bawa. Travis HeadHead last played in the IPL in 2017. But the Aussie left-handed opener wasn’t the player he has become across formats in the last two years. He delivered crushing blows to India’s ICC title hopes this year - in the final of the WTC as well as the ODI World Cup. Head bats with a strike rate of 146 (in T20s) and can bowl handy off-spin. Given his batting position flexibility, Head will be an attractive buy when his name comes up in the first set itself. Mitchell StarcThe Australian left-arm pacer is looking at an IPL return after eight years, to prepare for the next year's T20 World Cup. With his left-armer's angle, toe-crushing yorkers and prowess at banana swing, the experienced pacer is hungry to prove a point. It presents a heady cocktail for any franchise in need for speed. Kolkata Knight Riders won’t mind having him after releasing most of their pacers. Pat CumminsHow far would you go for a bowler who earns his living by making the red ball seam to trouble batters? Cummins' crafty bowling towards the end of the ODI World Cup and his world class captaincy proved there’s no substitute for class and experience. Cummins can win matches with the new ball and bowl hard lengths in the middle. With his ability to use the long handle, he could become the surprise jackpot winner if more than one franchise sees an opportunity and can create a space. Wanindu HasarangaThe Sri Lanka wrist-spinner was surprisingly let go by RCB. While that may have been to make space for the expensive Cameron Green trade, other teams may be excited at the prospect of roping him in when the paddles go up in the second set. Hasaranga’s googlies are difficult to read, and more than one team is short of quality spinners. But he’s competing with plenty of overseas spinners like Tabraiz Shamsi, Keshav Maharaj, Adil Rashid and Ish Sodhi and that might bring his price down. Gerald CoetzeeGerald Coetzee had a breakthrough 2023 -- getting plenty of wickets in SA20 and following it up with an impressive World Cup in India. Sporting a bandana, Coetzee runs in with a true fast bowler's attitude, has the T20 smarts and also has batting ability. He is only 23 and plenty of franchises may want to invest for the future. In the beginning, Kolkata Knight Riders seemed to be at the losing end of the championship. The first three years found the team to be far from winning the cup. But in 2012, they turned the tables and emerged as champions of the Indian Premier League. Having repeated their success in 2014, KKR gained more prowess in the fields and a stronger reputation in the league. But it is over 5 years already, and they are yet to claim back the championship. Do you think the Kolkata Knight Riders team would make it this year?
In the auction, KKR claimed Pat Cummins for their team breaking the records for the most expensive overseas purchase. Led by Dinesh Karthik, the Kolkata Knight Riders players seem to carry considerable potential with a good batting line-up.
Audiences are looking forward to lots of action on the field with players like Sunil Narine, Andre Russel, Eoin Morgan, and Tom Banton. fore more contacts:- https://cricdaddy.com/tournament-cup/ipl/kolkata-knight-riders/
