low-coherency rambling in the tags
#the thing about IPL is that‚ at least as far as i see it‚ they've essentially been propagating and encouraging an auteur myth regarding him#which is nothing new or unique to them; i think that people (audiences) naturally want to ascribe some Great Man Theory to everything#it's hard to conceptualize the fact that almost anything that comes from a ''studio'' will be the product of collaboration#people naturally want to personify things and attach a human face to what they like#and studios (whether game or whatever else) will indulge this by generally seeming to pick one or maybe two people (often men)#to essentially be the main ''face'' or ''spokesperson'' for the product. it's branding.#and it has an effect even if people obviously are aware that someone isnt the ONLY person who's hands touch a work#i see it in the way people take this very personal parasocial tone in how they talk about the creators they like#which is just a subset of the problem of parasociality in general but in this case i mean how they basically put these people on a pedestal#because they seem them as singularly responsible for creating Thing They Liked because of the aforementioned spokesmanship#i've seen it in how people talk about (and talk to) j sawyer and chris avellone as if they're singularly responsible for fallout#anthony burch and borderlands 2. christian linke and arcane#robert kurvitz and disco elysium (but to be very clear im not saying that makes cutting him out of his own intellectual property acceptable#fucking i don't know.... jeff kaplan and overwatch lmao#and very much with dybowski and pathologic. like the kind of memes i saw people make about him and the personal way they'd refer to him#BUT that pretty much all stopped after 2021 or so at least in the fandom spaces i saw#because i suppose people realized that whether those rumors and allegations were true or not that they did not really know this person#no matter how much they liked ''his'' game. and that he might not be a good person at all.#which is good. i think people should take that kind of ambivalence by default instead of getting parasocially attached to anyone#especially to one lead figure out of an entire studio#and then winding up distraught and disappointed when it turns out their fave did something bad#like be distraught for victims sure. but don't tell yourself you understand this person because their fiction spoke to you#and you won't wind up feeling personally betrayed.#i'm rambling big time but basically i hope people start taking this view more#because among other things. putting these people on pedestals and singling them out as auteurs gives them social power#which allows some of them to engage in the awful behavior that leaves fans feeling betrayed in the first place#and i hope that studios and creators stop leaning into it too#if it really is true that dybowski is barely involved with the IP anymore then IPL should say that.#don't prop him up as the face just because he's the one everyone knows#maybe they think it'll get backlash if anyone but him is said to be writing the game because of how much they leaned into him as the auteur

[ad_1] Shardul Thakur for Mumbai (PC: MCA/X) Outside Eden Gardens, a crowd gathers every day when the Mumbai players board the bus taking them to the hotel after the day’s play. Mostly, they chant the names of SuryakumarYadav, Shivam Dube and Ajinkya Rahane. Amid the noise, largely unnoticed, this player quietly makes his way towards the bus. Some recognise him. Most do not. Shardul Thakur chose the right moment to make his presence felt. With national selector Shiv Sundar Das watching from the VIP box, the medium-pacer dismantled Haryana in this Ranji Trophy quarter-final. Resuming the day at 263/5 in reply to Mumbai’s 315, Haryana were all out for 301. Thakur claimed all the wickets to fall on the third morning to finish with figures of 6/58. It helped his team seize the first-innings lead and the control of the match. At stumps, Mumbai were 278/4. This brilliant spell came at the right moment for the India discard. He doesn’t have an IPL contract this season and Ranji Trophy is his last opportunity to impress the selectors before the five-Test series in England starting in June. The team is desperate for a fast bowler who can bat. Although NitishKumar Reddy did well in that role in Australia, he can’t do what Thakur does with the ball. This pitch at Eden Gardens offered nothing to the fast bowlers after the first hour and a half on the opening day. The new ball was hardly effective during that period on Day 2 and it was no different on Monday. Thakur himself was below-par a day earlier and bowled incoming deliveries to the right-handers despite having four fielders in the slip-gully region. He was a different bowler after bagging a wicket with a bouncer in the first over of the day. The second new ball was taken as soon as it became due eight overs into the morning. Thakur was spot-on with his outswingers from the word go. His first ball with the new ball caught the edge and was taken by the wicketkeeper. Another edge was caught at first slip two balls later. The last two batters were trapped in front of the stumps by deliveries that moved back in. Outswingers, off-cutters and bouncers — Thakur displayed a wide range of variations and skills. More than that, he showed a big heart by giving his best for his team on an unresponsive pitch. After gallant nineties by Shams Mulani and Tanush Kotian, his role in Mumbai occupying the driving seat was immense. Such performances in knockout games carry additional value. Thakur has played 11 Tests and the last one was against South Africa in Centurion in December 2023. He was successful in England with the ball and the bat in 2021. With all the proper India all-rounders being spin bowlers, someone like Thakur is what any team would like to have in English conditions. He can be the ideal person in the role of a third or fourth seamer who can contribute with the bat. In fact, he saved India from trouble as a batter on multiple occasions. The 33-year-old is in form too. In the ongoing Ranji season, he is Mumbai’s fourth-highest run-getter with a tally of 396 from nine innings at 44.00 with a century and three fifties. As usual, most of his runs came when the team was under pressure. He also has 30 wickets at an average of 21.10. Thakur has done what was in his hands. Now, he will hope that this gets noticed.     The post Shardul Thakur sends reminder to selectors for England tour appeared first on Sports News Portal | Latest Sports Articles | Revsports. IPL Orange Cap 2025: Current Holder & Complete List of Top Scorers
Tumblr media
The Indian Premier League (IPL) is one of the world's most exciting and competitive cricket leagues. It brings together some of the best cricketers globally every season, competing for the coveted IPL title. Alongside the trophy, another prestigious recognition in the IPL is the IPL Orange Cap, awarded to the player with the highest run tally in a season. In this article, we will take a deep dive into the IPL Orange Cap for 2025, its current holder, and the complete list of top scorers. Additionally, we’ll explore the historical trends, the impact of the IPL Orange Cap on a player’s career, and how platforms like Indibet and 96in engage with IPL fans and players alike.
What is the IPL Orange Cap?
The IPL Orange Cap is awarded to the player who scores the most runs in a single IPL season. This honor is based on the cumulative total of runs accumulated over the course of the league's matches. The holder of the IPL Orange Cap wears the cap during every match they play. As the season progresses, the cap can be passed between players as their run totals change. The player who finishes with the most runs at the end of the season is officially crowned the IPL Orange Cap holder.
The Significance of the IPL Orange Cap
While the IPL trophy remains the ultimate prize, the IPL Orange Cap holds substantial prestige. It symbolizes individual excellence, consistency, and the ability to perform under pressure. Many of the best players in the world have worn the Orange Cap at some point in their IPL careers, cementing their place in cricket history.
IPL Orange Cap Holder for 2025
As we enter the IPL 2025 season, fans are eagerly awaiting the new winner of the IPL Orange Cap. While it is too early in the season to determine who will take home this honor, certain players are expected to lead the charge. Historically, players like Virat Kohli, David Warner, and Rohit Sharma have been strong contenders for the Orange Cap due to their consistent form in IPL matches.
One name that keeps coming up is the explosive opening batsman who can change the game in a matter of balls. His aggressive style of play makes him a serious contender for the IPL Orange Cap in 2025. The battle for the cap often revolves around players who can score fast, maintain consistency, and thrive in high-pressure situations.
Past IPL Orange Cap Winners
Over the years, the IPL Orange Cap has been won by some of the biggest names in world cricket. Players like Chris Gayle, David Warner, and Virat Kohli have been multiple-time winners. Here’s a quick look at the IPL Orange Cap winners over the years:
2016 – Virat Kohli (RCB) – 973 runs
2017 – David Warner (SRH) – 641 runs
2018 – Kane Williamson (SRH) – 735 runs
2019 – David Warner (SRH) – 692 runs
2020 – KL Rahul (KXIP) – 670 runs
2021 – Ruturaj Gaikwad (CSK) – 635 runs
2022 – Jos Buttler (RR) – 863 runs
2023 – Shubman Gill (GT) – 890 runs
Current IPL 2025 Orange Cap Holder
As of now, the IPL Orange Cap for 2025 is still up for grabs, but several players are making their mark early in the season. In the chase for the Orange Cap, some familiar faces will be seen at the top of the leaderboard, with players like Shubman Gill, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and David Warner already showing signs of great form.
Orange Cap List of Top Scorers in IPL 2025
As the IPL season progresses, we will see the top scorers battle for the IPL Orange Cap. Here’s what the Orange Cap list might look like as the matches unfold:
Player 1: Leading the pack with a dominant run-scoring streak, Player 1 has managed to consistently hit big runs, making him one of the favorites for the IPL Orange Cap in 2025.
Player 2: Known for his calm and calculated batting approach, Player 2 is another contender who could be at the top of the leaderboard by the end of the season.
Player 3: With a strong start, Player 3 is quickly becoming a consistent run-scorer, and he may be well on his way to securing the Orange Cap for 2025.
As the season progresses, the IPL Orange Cap list will continue to change, and fans will be eagerly tracking their favorite players' performances to see who can maintain their position at the top.
The IPL Orange Cap and the Impact on Players
The IPL Orange Cap not only brings individual glory but also boosts the player's career, often making them the center of attention in global cricket. Securing the Orange Cap is a significant milestone for any player. It enhances their marketability, boosts their confidence, and solidifies their status as one of the best in the game.
For young players, winning the IPL Orange Cap can be a game-changer, helping them secure lucrative contracts with top franchises in future seasons or even a place in the national team. For established players, the cap serves as a reminder of their continued dominance in T20 cricket.
Platforms Like Indibet and 96in Engage IPL Fans
As IPL fans eagerly follow the season, platforms like Indibet and 96in provide ways for fans to engage even further with the tournament. Indibet, for instance, offers a variety of cricket-related betting options, where fans can place wagers on match outcomes, top run-scorers, and even the IPL Orange Cap holder. This adds an extra layer of excitement for those who enjoy analyzing the game and testing their predictions.
Similarly, 96in offers a unique user experience with live stats, match predictions, and fantasy cricket leagues. These platforms enable fans to engage with the IPL in new and exciting ways, making the experience more interactive and enjoyable. From match insights to real-time updates, platforms like these enhance the viewing experience for fans worldwide.
IPL Winners and Their Orange Cap Journey
The relationship between the IPL Orange Cap and the IPL Winners is an interesting one. Often, the team with the highest run-scorer in the league enjoys a good chance of winning the IPL. Players who have consistently topped the run charts have often been part of championship-winning teams, though it isn’t always a guarantee. For instance, in 2020, while KL Rahul won the Orange Cap, his team, Kings XI Punjab, did not make it to the playoffs, highlighting how individual brilliance does not always translate to team success.
The balance between individual performances and team dynamics is a fascinating aspect of the IPL, and the IPL Orange Cap serves as a reminder of the importance of consistent run-scoring in the high-pressure environment of T20 cricket.
Conclusion
The IPL Orange Cap is one of the most sought-after individual awards in the IPL, symbolizing batting excellence and consistency. As the IPL 2025 season progresses, the race for the Orange Cap promises to be as thrilling as ever, with numerous players vying for the title of the league’s top run-scorer. Fans will be keeping a close eye on the Orange Cap list, tracking their favorite players’ performances.
Platforms like Indibet and 96in add a unique dimension to the IPL experience, allowing fans to engage more deeply with the tournament. The IPL Orange Cap continues to be a source of pride for players, and in 2025, the competition for this coveted prize will undoubtedly intensify, making it an exciting season to watch.

Top franchises likely to bid big for Rishabh Pant in IPL auction
Tumblr media
The exit of Rishabh Pant from Delhi Capitals ahead of 2025 IPL auction
Rishabh Pant’s journey with Delhi Capitals saw a significant turning point in 2021 when he assumed the captaincy in Shreyas Iyer’s absence. DC retained Pant as captain during the IPL 2022 mega auction, releasing Iyer, who subsequently joined KKR and led them the following year. Pant captained Delhi in IPL 2022 but missed the 2023 season as he recovered from several injuries that he sustained during an unfortunate car accident. After his recovery, Pant returned to lead the team in IPL 2024.
However, after IPL 2024, Delhi Capitals experienced major internal changes. Ricky Ponting, the head coach, moved to Punjab Kings, while Sourav Ganguly took a sabbatical following the GMR group’s takeover of team operations from JSW for the next two years. Speculation about Pant’s release began circulating after Ponting’s exit. Reports soon surfaced that while DC was willing to retain Rishabh Pant as a player, they wanted a new captain. Pant, however, was firm on retaining his leadership role. This misalignment led to his release, making him one of the hottest picks for the IPL 2025 mega auction.
Franchises likely to bid for Rishabh Pant in IPL auction
Punjab Kings
With the largest auction budget of Rs 110.5 crore, Punjab Kings have released their entire squad, barring uncapped players Shashank Singh and Prabhsimran Singh. The team is keen on rebuilding from scratch and is likely to make a strong bid for Pant in the IPL auction. Moreover, PBKS is in need of a captaincy pick following the retirement of Shikhar Dhawan. Punjab’s new head coach, Ricky Ponting, who shares a successful history with Pant from their Delhi Capitals days, is expected to champion the effort to bring him into the fold.
Royal Challengers Bangalore
Royal Challengers Bangalore, armed with Rs 83 crore, has the second-highest budget for the IPL auction. With Dinesh Karthik no longer in their squad, they are in need of a wicketkeeper-batter, and Pant fits the bill perfectly. While RCB hasn’t retained Faf du Plessis, Virat Kohli has expressed interest in reclaiming the captaincy, which could work as a middle ground for Pant. Even if not given the leadership, Pant may relish the chance to play under Kohli’s guidance.
Chennai Super Kings
Although Chennai Super Kings have a smaller auction purse of Rs 55 crore, they are rumoured to be considering Pant. Speculation arose after former CSK player Suresh Raina hinted at a possible connection between Pant and MS Dhoni. However, given Pant’s likely price tag of Rs 18–20 crore, CSK might find it challenging to compete financially in the IPL auction. Moreover, with Ruturaj Gaikwad only recently stepping into the captaincy role, CSK is unlikely to offer Pant the leadership position, leaving questions about whether they would prioritize signing him.

Not KKR, Rahul Dravid Set To Seal His IPL Return With This Franchise
After successfully guiding the Indian team to T20 World Cup 2024 triumph as head coach, Rahul Dravid is reportedly gearing up for a new adventure in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Since his tenure as the head coach of the Indian team came to an end, Dravid has been linked with multiple franchises in the T20 league. Earlier, reports suggested that the batting great could decide to join Kolkata Knight Riders, especially as the franchise saw their mentor Gautam Gambhir leave the team to fill the void left by Dravid in the Indian team as head coach. But, it has now been reported that Dravid is in talks with his former IPL side Rajasthan Royals.
Tumblr media
"Talks are going on between RR and Dravid, and an announcement in this regard is round the corner," Times of India quoted a source as saying.
As Dravid hunts for a new adventure, Gambhir has begun his stint as the Indian team's head coach. He flew to Sri Lanka with the other members of the Indian team ahead of the white-ball assignment. Before the team's departure, Gambhir did admit he has some big shoes to fill, considering what Dravid has done with the Indian team as head coach.
As India lifted the T20 World Cup 2024 title, beating South Africa in the final, Dravid did joke about being 'jobless' from the next month, and asked reporters if they had any offers. A man of the talent of Dravid, and the gold-worthy experience in Indian cricket, franchises are understandably lining up to rope him into the team.
Dravid didn't want to continue as the Indian team's head coach as he didn't want to spend 10 months a year travelling, keeping himself away from the family. But, the Indian Premier League is different. In the T20 league, Dravid only needs to be with the franchise for 2-3 months a year, a prospect he could fancy.
The former India captain has worked as a mentor and coach with IPL franchises in the past. Dravid was the coach of Delhi Daredevils franchise before leaving the job in 2017 over 'conflict of interest'. Since ending his IPL career, Dravid has worked as the coach of India's junior teams, including Under-19 and India A.
He was most recently working as the head of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru before taking up the India job in 2021.
Now linked with the Rajasthan Royals, it would be interesting to see on what capacity would the former India head coach work with the franchise.

"Love To Look At Things In Positive Manner": Sanju Samson Ahead Of ICC T20 WC 2024 Opener
Ahead of their opener against Ireland in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, India wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson said that he positively looks at things while reflecting on failures and successes in his career.
Samson, who made his international debut in 2014 in a T20I match, has had ups and downs, having played just 25 T20Is and 16 ODIs for India over the last decade.
His T20 stats have been disappointing as he has scored just 374 runs at an average of 18.70 with one half-century. a strike rate of 133.09 and the best score of 77.
Samson has made his way into the T20 WC squad after a career-best Indian Premier League (IPL) which helped take Rajasthan Royals (RR) to the playoffs. He scored 531 runs at an average of 48.27 and a strike rate of 153.46, with five half-centuries. His best score was 86*.
The Kerala-born cricketer asserted that at the time when a cricketer is young and successful, he tries to skip a few lessons.
"I love to look at things in a more positive manner. If it's a failure or setback, you learn through it. When you are young and successful, you skip a few lessons. I am blessed with my talent, which comes naturally to me as a batter" Samson said in a video posted by BCCI.
The 29-year-old further stated that right from the moment he arrived in the United States, he had taken out all the things regarding Indian Premier which is in his mind.
"Right from the moment I landed here, IPL has been away from my mind. I tell myself that I am somewhere where people dream of going. Then I was like, what else do I need to do? Mentally I did not have to motivate myself. Things happen automatically. When you meet Rohit and Virat, you get inspired and there is no looking back. How can Sanju help India win more games, what it is like to be a WC player for India? I am very grateful for the support wherever I go," the wicketkeeper added.
In the end, Samson said that he loves to change and adapt according to the conditions.
"The biggest lesson as a cricketer and human is that the change is constant. You cannot say that this is the only way to play. I love to change and adapt as per conditions. You can't be the same Sanju Samson," the right-hand batter concluded.
India will start their T20 World Cup campaign on June 5 against Ireland at the newly constructed Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.
The blockbuster clash between India and Pakistan will take place on June 9. India will later play tournament co-hosts USA (June 12) and Canada (June 15) to wrap up their Group A matches.
In the tournament, India will be aiming to end their ICC trophy drought, having last won the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013. Since then, India has reached the 50-over World Cup final in 2023, semifinal in 2015 and 2019, the title clash of the ICC World Test Championship in 2021 and 2023, T20 WC final in 2014, semifinals in 2016 and 2022 but failed to secure a big ICC trophy.

The IPL: Where Cricket Meets Big Business
Tumblr media
The Indian Premier League (IPL), a professional Twenty20 cricket league in India, has become one of the most popular sporting events in the world. With its razzmatazz, glamour, and big business, the IPL has been able to create a loyal fan following across the globe. After being postponed in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the IPL is back in 2023 with a bang, with rivalries and more business opportunities than ever before.
The IPL was first introduced in 2008 by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Since then, it has grown by leaps and bounds to become one of the biggest events in the cricketing world. In its first season, the league consisted of eight teams representing different cities in India, each owned by a franchise. Over the years, the league has expanded to include ten teams, with two new teams, Ahmedabad and Lucknow, joining in 2022.
The IPL has been successful not just because of its cricketing excellence but also due to its unique business model. The league is based on the franchise system, where each team is owned by a private company or individual. The franchisees invest heavily in their teams, buying players, and creating an atmosphere of glitz and glamour around the league. The league has become a massive money-spinner, with teams earning millions of dollars in sponsorship and advertising revenue.
The IPL is not just about cricket. It is also a platform for big business. With a huge fan following across the world, the IPL provides companies with an opportunity to advertise their products to a vast audience. From team sponsorships to television advertising, the IPL offers a range of opportunities for businesses to promote their brands. According to a report by Duff & Phelps, a global valuation and corporate finance advisor, the Indian Premier League (IPL), has recorded a 77% increase in system value to US$8.4 billion. With media rights sold for over INR 48,000 Crores (US$6.5 billion), the central pool of IPL revenues has increased more than 2.5 times for the 2023 to 2027 cycle.
The rivalry between teams in the IPL is another factor that makes the league so exciting. Each team represents a different city in India, and the players are selected from across the globe. This creates a unique mix of talent, culture, and identity that fans can relate to. The players are not just playing for their teams; they are representing the cities they come from. The rivalry between teams is not just about winning matches; it is also about representing their cities with pride.
The IPL has also created a platform for young cricketers to showcase their talent. The league has given many young players a chance to play alongside some of the biggest names in cricket. This has not only helped them develop their skills but also given them exposure to a global audience. Many young players who have performed well in the IPL have gone on to represent their national teams at the highest level.
In conclusion, the Indian Premier League is a unique sporting event that has captured the imagination of cricket fans across the globe. With its razzmatazz, glamour, and big business, the IPL has become a massive money-spinner for franchise owners and businesses alike. The league has created a platform for young cricketers to showcase their talent and given fans a chance to support their cities with pride. With the league back in action in 2021, cricket fans can look forward to another season of exciting cricket and fierce rivalries.

India ‘A’ Selection Is Good Opportunity For Upendra Yadav, Kumar Kushagra: Ajay Ratra
Tumblr media
With KS Bharat: With KS Bharat and Dhruv Jurel selected in the Test squad for the first two games against England at Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam, Kumar Kushagra and Upendra Yadav were recently included in the India ‘A’ team for the second and third four-day games against England Lions in Ahmedabad. While Upendra was a member of India ‘A’ team on their tour of South Africa in 2021, Kushagra has been handed a maiden call-up to the squad. Former India wicketkeeper-batter Ajay Ratra believes the duo are on the radar of the selection committee, resulting in their selection for India ‘A’ team. "India ‘A’ is your second-best Test team and with them being selected for those games, it means that the selectors and team management are keeping an eye on those two, based on their domestic performances for a long time. There’s a lot of cricket happening and it’s great that those two wicketkeepers are getting a chance to play in this format," he said in an exclusive conversation with IANS. With Rishabh Pant still recovering from injuries sustained in a horrific car accident in December 2022, India has fielded three different wicketkeepers in Test cricket since February 2023 – Bharat, Ishan Kishan and KL Rahul. Bharat had been in the ‘A’ team set-up for a long time before graduating to the Test level, while Rahul has been the primary wicketkeeper in ODIs and even donned the gloves for the Test tour of South Africa. Kishan has been on a mental health break from the game since December 2023 while Jurel was given a Test call-up, based on his good showings in domestic cricket and India ‘A’ games. Hence, the call-ups of Kushagra and Upendra to the India ‘A’ team have two aims – of expanding the wicketkeeper pool in senior men’s cricket and give the ‘A’ level exposure to youngsters like Kushagra and Upendra. When Kushagra’s India ‘A’ call-up came, the wicketkeeper-batter converted his overnight score of an unbeaten fifty into a fine 132 for Jharkhand in the Ranji Trophy match against Services at the Airforce Complex Ground in Palam, New Delhi. Last month, Kushagra had earned an astonishing INR 7.2 crore deal with Delhi Capitals at the IPL 2024 Player Auction in Dubai. Ratra, who played six Tests and 12 ODIs for India, recalled seeing Kushagra as a young keeper a few years ago at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. “I still remember about doing an U16 camp with Kumar Kushagra in Bengaluru. The way he showcased his glovework at the U16 level, it made for a very impressive look.” "The NCA has a lot of camps going on in a year and at that time, he was at the U16 level. Someone like Jayant Yadav was at the NCA for rehab or practice and he needed a wicketkeeper to do his bowling practice. "We then sent Kumar for helping him and even though it was a practice session happening, he was catching balls at ease and gathered the deliveries very well. Seeing that, I got a feeling that he would be a decent keeper and has now done well at the domestic level." On the other hand, Upendra is a big-hitting wicket-keeper who has kept wickets and got big runs for Uttar Pradesh and Railways in first-class cricket. "I haven’t seen much of Upendra, but have heard a lot about him and read about his scores too. So, the India ‘A’ selection is a good opportunity for them and the way Dhruv Jurel entered India ‘A’ setup before getting the Test call-up, they can take inspiration from it." "If an overseas series comes up and whether India would take KL Rahul as a keeper there, there’s some time to it. But India ‘A’ selection is a good opportunity for both Upendra Yadav and Kumar Kushagra," concluded Ratra. Read the full article

[ad_1] Washington Sundar. Image: BCCI Do you remember Salman Khan as ‘Aman’ in Karan Johar’s iconic film ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai?’ Salman was the quintessential charming lover boy. He makes a grand entry with song and dance and is all set to marry Anjali (Kajol). Anjali likes him too and things go according to plan until Rahul (Shah Rukh Khan) makes a re entry in Anjali’s life. Anjali is confused and torn. Tears are shed and hearts are broken before the inevitable happens. Anjali goes back to her first love and all Aman can do is let go and offer a smile standing in the background. Now, why did I tell you this story? Because Washington Sundar is the ‘Aman’ of the Indian Cricket Team. Imagine this, he last played in a test in 2021. He delivered with both bat and ball against Australia in the final test at Brisbane that saw India breach the fortress and clinch the historic Border Gavaskar Trophy series. Washington and Shardul Thakur formed a partnership for the ages. However, ‘Aman’ was soon forgotten. With the test regulars Ravindra Jadeja and  Ravichandran Ashwin deservingly coming back in the first XI and Axar Patel rising fast through the ranks, Sundar had to step back. He was written off for the next three years. Washi wasn’t even a regular in the IPL set up. The teams picked him and  soon realised ‘Aman’ was the easiest to bench. Injuries didn’t help Sundar either. Three years passed and all of a sudden ‘Aman’ was invited to be Anjali’s suitor again. India slumped to a big loss against New Zealand in the first Test of the three-match Test series. Panic button was pressed, a turner was prepared in Pune,  and  Washington was not only called back but immediately inducted into the playing XI. ‘Aman’ did not disappoint, picking up 13 wickets in the match. Such was his impact that he bowled way more overs than Jadeja in both the innings. Not only with the ball, he looked equally good with the bat. The team management backed him and subsequently he was promoted to No. 6 in the second innings ahead of Sarfraz Khan and Jadeja. The scoreboard might not show great returns but for us who watched the game, he looked in complete control on the turner till he was at the crease. He came good in the third Test at Mumbai too, where the team management decided to prepare another turner. The fact he was more effective than India’s leading spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, saw him make a cut in the playing XI for the first Test against Australia in the Border Gavaskar Trophy immediately after that series. Scores of 4 and 21 with the bat with only two wickets to show in the second innings didn’t help his cause. Ashwin returned for the day-night Test against Adelaide. For the Latest Sports News: Click Here Washington Sundar at the press conference (Source: RevSportz) Then came the shocking retirement announcement of Ashwin after the third Test at Brisbane. Poor performances by the Indian batting order saw Washington come back for the last two Tests. Captain Rohit Sharma came up with the ‘extra bowling cushion’ logic when asked about playing two all-rounders in Nitish Reddy and Washington Sundar. However Washington wasn’t trusted with the ball at all in any of those Tests. He bowled a total of only 20 overs over the next two Tests. The Boxing Day Test saw Washington grind it out with the bat against a relentless Aussie bowling attack. Nitish and Washington, the two so-called ‘extra bowling cushion’, not only took India to a respectable total, but also formed a crucial partnership of 127 runs at no 8. The team management rewarded ‘Aman’ and picked him for the 5-match T20I series against England. Here ‘Aman’ was back to his best when it came to receding in the background. Ineffective with both bat and ball, he was picked and dropped and dropped and picked. The team selections were sometimes too experimental, as a result of which Washington was unsure of his role. With the spinners Varun Chakravarthy and Ravi Bishnoi doing the job for India, Washington was used in patches.
The England batters took a liking to him, desperately trying to break the shackles. His bowling figures were dented and he was dismissed trying to swing his blade. But India still needs ‘Aman’ for the climax scene. So, Washington was picked in the Champions Trophy squad. With Varun putting in exceptional performances, it’sonly fair that he gets a look in the playing XI in one of the matches against England. So, what are the options you are looking at? Shami and Arshdeep are sure starters. That leaves you with two more bowling slots, preferably spinners, with Hardik Pandya performing the third seamer’s role. Head coach Gautam Gambhir has an obsession with all-rounders and it’s almost certain that Axar Patel will play at No. 8. Who plays as the other spinner? Varun or Kuldeep Yadav. So, there’s a clear toss up between Axar and ‘Aman’ now. Yes, Axar and Jadeja are like-for-like all-rounders but will you drop somebody who is a potential captaincy candidate in limited-overs cricket for your team? I doubt, maybe the team management doubts too. Life has not been fair to you ‘Aman.’ We hope you will grab your chances as and when they come. We know you will give it your all because another ‘Aman’ said –‘Kya paata, kal ho na ho!’ Also Read: Both Rohit and Kohli can make an impact in the format that suits them best The post Washington Sundar – The ‘Aman’ Of Indian Cricket Team appeared first on Sports News Portal | Latest Sports Articles | Revsports. Introduction: Major League Cricket
Major League Cricket (MLC) is an American professional Twenty20 cricket league. It started play on July 13, 2023, with six teams representing significant American cities and was run by American Cricket Enterprises (ACE) under a single-entity format only.
Major League Cricket’s inaugural season was played over three weeks in July 2023, with games at Grand Prairie Stadium in Grand Prairie, Texas, and Church Street Park in Morrisville, North Carolina.
In 2018, USA Cricket sought partners to launch a domestic T20 league by 2021, with the aim of engaging existing fans, growing new ones and developing cricketing infrastructure across the country. In 2019, USA Cricket accepted a $1 billion investment from American Cricket Enterprises (ACE) to support the league and the U.S. national teams. American Cricket Enterprises (ACE), a group of investors led by Satyan Gajwani and Vineet Jain of The Times Group and Sameer Mehta and Vijay Srinivasan of Willow TV will handle commercial activities for T20I and ODI matches hosted by the United States.
In October 2020, USA Cricket announced that it would launch Major League Cricket in 2022, as part of its “foundational plan” for 2020–23. The following month, the IPL’s Kolkata Knight Riders (co-owned by Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan) announced that they would invest in American Cricket Enterprises (ACE), the company behind Major League Cricket.
Minor League Cricket Youth and Major League Cricket Youth leagues, coupled with an MLC Jr. Championship and player development program would serve as a development structure for younger players to advance toward Major League Cricket and the national squad. These leagues were announced by the MLC in February 2021. Major League Cricket’s debut was postponed to 2023 in May owing to COVID-19 and to give more time to build facilities.
It was announced in November 2022 that the inaugural MLC season will take place at Grand Prairie Stadium from July 13–30, 2023. Six franchises will play 15 league matches in a single round-robin format during the competition, followed by a four-match play-off phase.
