The airline-to-software conglomerate has been in talks with the factory’s owner, Taiwan’s Wistron Corp., for months, and is looking to complete the purchase by the end of March. The two firms discussed various potential tieups but talks have now centered on Tata taking a majority of a joint venture, the people said. Tata is set to oversee the main manufacturing operation. Wistron’s 2.2 million-square-foot factory is located just over 30 miles (50 kilometers) east of Bangalore. If the acquisition goes through, Tata will take over all its eight iPhone lines, as well as the plant’s 10,000 workers, including a couple thousand engineers. Wistron would continue as a service partner for iPhones in India.

Super slow day at work so I identified and labeled every recycled android we have in our parts bin.
Isn't it beautiful
#i color coded them by manufacturer so itd be easy to find a specific phone when digging around for spare parts#this shit is easy when i can actually hold the device for clues#used imei check for anything that still had one printed on it‚ anything half open i can find the model#number on a flex cable or something#and anything without those identifiers i just searched gsm arena for a visual match#like iding from images is hard cause i only have one image to go off of so one ID could take hours (if its obscure)#but this bin of like 80 or so phones took me like 3 hours tops#also i didnt id the iphones cause everyone in my store can id them on sight so it would be a bit redundant lol#also we have like a million recycled iphones#not id#work#smartphone

I’m sorry, but the fact that the U.S. government is treating Android users like they’re being discriminated against bECAUSE OF A GREEN FUCKING BUBBLE is objectively one of thee stupidest things and most colossal wastes of government regulatory authority I’ve seen in a good fucking minute
We can and should have meaningful discussions about Apple and whether or not it’s a monopoly (it’s not), or a monopsony (possibly), and yes, there is a discussion to be had on the accessibility and the predatory practices of the entire industry—not just Apple—but the fact that the whole “green bubble discrimination” framing even made it into the lawsuit is somewhere between funny and absolutely bizarro
I am convinced that that specific part of the lawsuit is something that Android loving tech bros (Linus Sebastian, Nilay Patel, Elon Musk, etc. etc. etc.) kinda talked up into being a serious thing ™
Listen, my father’s parents had 7 boys and 7 girls, and my mother’s parents also had 7 boys and 7 girls (yes they got married and had children; no, they didn’t all marry each other) — so my point is, I have a shit ton of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. We could probably start our own political party. We’re spread out all around the country, and we talk + text + FaceTime with each other ALL the fucking time. Literally never has anyone complained about being a fucking green bubble, and yes, many of my extended family are Android users and so are some of my siblings. It’s a non-fucking issue, a manufactured controversy
If we ever have problems with interoperability (rare) then someone just switches phones (because many people have both Apple and android devices), or we text, or we just talk (not every convo requires FaceTime or pictures), or everyone just switches over to Zoom. JFC, before Zoom, we all connected on something called ooVoo and stayed on that for hours the night that Obama was elected for the first time. This is not difficult people
Use whatever phone you prefer, honestly Idgaf
But I’m actually getting kinda mad the more I think about that foolishness being one of the things that the Department of Justice is wasting time arguing about
“The stigma and social costs of not having an iPhone”?
*blinks in Black Lives Matter*
There are multiple genocides happening around the world, American owned businesses are data mining and vacuuming up every scrap of our personal data, Black people + women + refugees + trans people are being, REALLY being discriminated against, and the Apple lawsuit has the audacity to use language that implies harmful social discrimination is happening? Because “poor” old android???
What’s next, will android users become a legally protected class?
Please be serious for 2 seconds
It’s a fucking insult to people who are REALLY experiencing true discrimination based on personal characteristics that we cannot change
This reeks of white people bullshit
Please GTFOHWTBS
#odin rants#apple lawsuit#iphone vs android#green bubble discrimination#white people problems#antitrust lawsuit#apple vs android#white people foolishness#blue bubble green bubble#manufactured controversies#dear white people#please get some real problems#please be serious#please#and i actually like lina khan

this is my old woman moment of the day and it's happening at barely 7 am but I have spent the past hour searching for clear rubber phone cases. with which to protect my device. I decided on rubber after bad experiences with other materials. I have firmly made up my mind I would like the case to be clear and made of rubber and suitable for an android. and I simply cannot get through the apple ads to find this item. I think it all should be less difficult
#i had to get a new phone my old one stopped making calls. so i purchased the upgrade of the exact phone i had which lasted for 5 years#so now i want to get a rubber phone case and a screen protector made of that sticky plastic stuff#the glass has a bad texture i do not like. i want the plastic#what manufacturers don't understand is i require extremely specific items every 5 years forever. the hard plastic will NOT do#i will NOT get an iphone#i will NOT use a glass screen protector

man wtf. i got this semi-cheap samsung galaxy like 2 years ago and it's been borderline indestructible (since i assume the screen is plastic and not glass) but now it's suddenly got a teeny little hairline crack across it. i don't even remember dropping it recently or anything. it just appeared. ghosts must be throwing it around my room while i sleep i guess
#i was an iphone girl b4 this and i do NOT miss those things#but i guess death comes for us all regardless of manufacturer#irrelevance

Is Your iPhone Battery Draining Fast?
An iPhone’s battery health depletes over time. Frequent charging cycles and heavy usage heavily affect the phone’s battery. If your phone lags and dies quickly, then the battery is possibly the reason for it. Many users notice reduced efficiency after two years. Apps may take longer time than usual to open. Sudden shutdown of iPhones frequently is a sign your battery needs expert service.
Apple offers a built-in battery health checker. It shows the maximum capacity percentage remaining. If your battery health is below 80%, then battery replacement is recommended. Visiting an authorised service centre for iPhone battery replacement is the safest option. They ensure genuine parts for durability and also offer a warranty after battery replacement. To save your iPhone’s hardware from permanent damage, trust only the reliable iPhone battery replacement store in Australia.
youtube
Battery replacement can improve the total functioning of your phone. Apps run smoothly and also extend battery life. You can use your iPhone without any interruptions and enjoy a more productive day.
If your iPhone is out of warranty, then fear not. Reputed mobile repair stores in Australia offer affordable repair and replacement for older models, too. Always check the pricing before committing to repair.
Replacing the battery of your iPhone will bring your old iPhone to life. It also enhances the performance of your device. Choosing battery replacement is a cost-effective and wisest option.
But before making any decision, asses the overall condition of your iPhone and consult with top iPhone repairmen in Australia for better advice. If your device is completely outdated, then battery replacement might not be worth it.
I recommend The Mobile Hub for its professional and reliable iPhone battery replacement service in Australia. Along with battery replacement, they also offer data backup and recovery services, so you don’t lose your valuable data because of battery issues.

[id: an image of a container ship at sea with superimposed text reading "Genuinely curious what's going to happen when a society that buys everything from Amazon, Walmart, and Temu realizes what a 60% tariff on Chinese goods looks like." attribution is @/EmmaScott /end id]
#perhaps a little mean but the supply chain obsessed part of me kind of wants to shriek and cheer a bit. PLEASE lmao let's see this. let's go#ofc it won't neatly and easily collapse all the things i personally think are the biggest problems in the ideal way i'd like etc etc#it's the shippers presumably who'll have to pay the tariffs (i assume?) which they'll transfer to consumers#which fine when it's temu and shein. otoh it's not just enjoyers of instant gratification hyperconsumerism who could take a hit it's like--#id love to fuck up the iphone supply chain but not the entire medical one. a shame#i do actually want to kill consumerism by any means necessary and i don't think there's any just world in which amazon walmart or temu exis#i just don't think there's any way theyll a) go thru w those tariffs or#b) stick it out once they realize you can't reshore jobs and manufacturing by snapping your fingers#c) ppl will get very mad if prices of consumer goods skyrocket#even if i personally think they should. yes caveat that it's v hard to only spike the prices of things i want ppl to live without. but stil#d) major retailers (amazon; walmart) have inordinate influence they aren't going to take this lightly#e) cynically one thing this could do is spur further outsourcing away from china to 'cheaper' countries w even worse working conditions etc#a trend that's already happening regardless#supply chains

law idea: products that are not currently and will not be purchasable from the parent company for the foreseeable future are not counted as "copywritten" in regard to the sharing, reproduction, and other "piracy" claims in court of law.
if you aren't selling them your customer doesn't have to buy
this is in regards to all copyright, if someone starts a factory producing clones of iPhone and iMac chips for the purpose of repairing devices, that's not copyright infringement, because apple does not sell those chips :)
if they want to keep their copyright they can put their repair chips on the public market, continue matinance of old products, etc
Nintendo will hate this law the most I'm sure.
widows is surprisingly robust to this law as you can actually buy every copy of windows ever produced right now on windows website, albeit you might have a hard time finding it because they'd PERfer you didn't.
streaming companies dropping original content from their service for tax purposes can expect to find it on YouTube the next day for free no ads
I think you all will be able to see how this will have a hotting effect on the market, where as now copyright holders have the power to delete content from the legal sphere, under this law they cannot do that. they can sell it themselves or they can give it away for free.
no more manufactured scarcity for the sake of inflating already inflated prices

Tata Group to Make iPhone in India
Tata Group closing on deal with Wistron become the first brand for iPhone made in India. Tata Group, not only ranks as fourth company to assemble iPhones made in India, but also as the first Indian company to do so.
By acquiring Wistron’s factory at Narasapura (located in Karnataka), Tata Group gets an added feather to its cap. Tata would join Foxconn, Pegatron, and Luxshare as Apple's fourth in-country manufacturer.
Tata Group is all set to become the country's first manufacturer of the iPhone. In addition to apparently conducting trials to construct next iPhone 15 models in India, Tata is planning to increase the present capacity of iPhone production in the Wistron factory.
This is the first time an Indian company is all set to make a big move into the assembly of iPhones.

do i have any followers or mutuals who have switched from iphone to android? what phone did you get? how did you feel about it? what were the biggest things that bothered you and biggest things you liked?
#i have hated every new iphone for years now but it's hard to switch#here's what android manufacturers should do if they were smart: allow people to 'trial' their phones for like 30 days and bring them back#if they dislike them no questions asked#my aversion to change and fear of the unknown are currently fighting my extreme disdain for apple products.
