Same dog, different car boot. More room to turn and lie down but less room to stand or sit. It'll be interesting to see if Shadow can make it to Tipperary next week.

I'm not sure if you have much experience in the topic but if I'm looking for an """assault rifle""" and I'm not sure if I want to build an AR or if I want to get something else. Right now I only have a bolt action 308, so I have no bias one way or another. I have in mind a desert tech mdr but it's $2000 and I know I could build a kick ass ar for that price. I know this is really general but I want to look at other options first. Anyone is more than welcome to make suggestions!
For a first AR I wouldn't build one from the ground up unless buying special tools and the tuning process doesn't intimidate you. I would reccomend buying the upper and lower seperately (from reputable manufacturers) if you want to get something very specific to your interest. Consider brands like BCM, Aero, MI, Hera, and the hundreds of others with good reputation for AR parts. You can build a fantastic budget rifle for under 1k right now.Decent AKs are kinda expensive right now. Arsenals, DDI, and Vepr conversions are hovering around $750-1k Wasrs and PAPs are scarce but available for lower prices but should be inspected before purchase. Avoid IOinc like the plage.HK33 pattern guns are for the person who wants to be the odd one out that also isn't afraid of expensive mags.Consider the Z43 and Century C93, but as with any century gun, inspect first.

Starting a Startup - Day 41 (BOD)
April 2nd 2017
Ionic 2 and SEO
The first MVP for my todo list app was completed almost 10 days ago, but I haven't been doing mush with that. Yet.
I've been procrastinating. (Yes, I'm a procrastinator, and, I mentioned, that's why I'm working on productivity apps.) I have a lot of excuses. I'm busy building 'infra'. I'm already working on the next MVP. I really need backend/server apps before I can continue. I am not sure what would be the optimal way to get beta users. etc. etc. But, at the end of the day, I know this is a priority for me. A prototype is useless unless you test it against real users. Besides, as the Lean Startup movement preaches, customer development preceeds everything else when you try to build a startup, when you try to find a product-market fit.
So, how do you get beta testers?
I have a few ideas, but I am not sure what I should try first. The first prototype ("MVP1") has a few limitations (besides it being a prototype). The data is currently stored on a browser, which makes it rather useless as an actual Web app. The user cannot create persistent data (unless the user religiously uses a single browser on a single computer). Given this limitation, we are pretty much limited regarding where we can deploy this "beta app".
One thing that I already knew and I now realize again and again is that dynamic apps based on Ionic 2 is not good for SEO. This is generally true for all SPA type apps not just Ionic 2. Search engines cannot generally read dynamically generated content. It's not really a problem if you are just building a mobile app with Ionic 2. But, now that Ionic 2 "supports" building for the Web, and I'm thinking of using it as a "truly cross-platform" framework, SEO becomes an issue.
I "deployed" my first MVP prototype to mvp1.todocanvas.com over a week ago. If it was a "real" website, it might have been indexed by now. It's very unlikly it would have shown up in any keyword search results, but at least there is a comfort in knowing that it has been indexed. And, in theory, a random user could have serendipitously stumbled upon the site. Currently, that's not even a remote possibility. The site displays an empty content (when viewed by a search crawler).
If I had used a server-side technology to build my webapp, it could have been more SEO-friendly (even if I created a JS-heavy app). Even with Angular 2, you could do server-side rendering, as an optimization. Unfortunately, Ionic 2 (currently) does not support it. And, I don't know how to heck it.
Ioinc 2 promises a lot of things, but it delivers very little.
Or, maybe I'm just one of those very "demanding customers" who will not be satified with anything. :)
