Invasion of Astro-Monster (怪獣大戦争, Kaijū Dai-sensō, lit. 'The Giant Monster War') is a 1965 kaiju film directed by Ishirō Honda, with special effects by Eiji Tsuburaya.
Invasion of Astro-Monster was theatrically released in Japan on December 19, 1965, to mixed reviews from critics. It was followed by a theatrical release in the United States on July 29, 1970, by Maron Films as Monster Zero, on a double bill with The War of the Gargantuas.
Extremely accurate Italian poster for "Monster Zero"

Invasion of Astro-Monster (1965).
This one is sort of another cheat because I vividly remember staying up late to watch it on Big Chuck and Little John (two late night movie hosts from Cleveland that were still doing their thing when I grew up in the early 2000s). Not as fun without Mothra, this is the first time we see Godzilla actually get to visit outer space, which is one more achievement he can boast over King Kong…I think.
My favorite fact about this movie is that Nick Adams, the actor who played American astronaut Glenn didn’t speak Japanese so he spoke his lines in English and was dubbed over by a Japanese voice actor. Then, when they dubbed the rest of the film for American audiences it looks like they just used Adams’s original audio.
