Inuyasha & Kagome crumbs from the latest chapter! 🤍

The thing I’m really loving about ranma 1/2 (2024) —besides the color, the queerness and the silliness— is how it’s basically a teenage boy(girl) who’s been raised with toxic masculinity learning the importance of consent.

He learns this both from watching Akane being harassed to then experiencing the same harassment when in girl form. Ranma’s seeming lack of his own gender awareness clashes perfectly with how differently Akane treats people based on gender. He might have learned to be sympathetic towards Akane’s hatred for men but that very quickly turns into empathy.

(Spoilers for episode 8 under cut)

I feel like this was perfectly illustrated in the most recent episode (#8). When he and Akane are fighting and she dares him to kiss her, his growth really shows. He takes a step back from his pride and the goading to think about how he felt in the moment that he was forcibly kissed. The sort of position he was put in simply for being a girl.

So far we’ve seen all the ways that Ranma is impulsive and very easily goaded into things. This is sort of the first time he *doesnt* give into that. Obviously he cares about Akane, and obviously is not against kissing her.

However he now knows the negative experiences she’s had with men and that she is also not one to back down from a challenge. Of course his “maybe we should only kiss people we want to” got misinterpreted as rejection, but was a honestly attempt to not make her feel the same way he had in that moment. He’s seeing how other boys are acting and actively deciding to not have that effect on people, especially the girl he now cares about.

If this love story goes anything like Inuyasha did, I expect a lot of parallel learning. In this I think Akane will more reflect Inuyasha’s growth.

Inuyasha learned that he was allowed to accept happiness, to choose life. To feel his emotions without seeing them as weakness. Just because he can fight alone doesn’t mean he has to and that he is lovable despite not conforming to what society views as desirable.

Akane in turn I think will also learn the value of trust. Allowing herself to be loved by someone who isn’t going to view her personality as a conquest or thing to be tamed. She’s already accepted being herself rather than trying to be like her sister so she’s got a good start!

That leaves Ranma and Kagome.

Kagome ultimately learned how to sit and cope with her negative emotions. She gave them time but refused to let them interfere with her principles on how to treat people. She used this as a way to provide support for her loved one while takeoff care of herself. She would meet him where he was at. Even if he didn’t choose her in the end. (Thank fuck he did)

I think Ranma will have a somewhat similar role, but rather he needs to learn how to stop saying shit he doesn’t actually mean. He’s sort of dug himself into a hole as far as communication goes.

My concern with MAO translations..

Recently came a creative ad campaign for the "Stop Pirate Edition" program,to combat the pirating of manga ran in the Asahi Shimbun today. It has a number of panels from manga such as Ranma 1/2, Maison Ikkoku, One Piece, Banana Fish, Bleach, Golgo 13 and many others. See below:

Why was it a disraceful move of VIZ media?

Because she had legally purchased the MAO raws,straight from the source,doing every week her best on translating each MAO chapter,since DAY One literally ! VIZ media began the translations of MAO a year after its debut.

Why did VIZ did treat awfully our fellow @ka-go-me ?

I guess due to envy on her,for her splendid,consistent MAO-translations.And everyone could compare between the two teams of translations,thus detemining:Their translations would look inferior to hers. @ka-go-me had made a Truly Wondrous work:)

a list of my rin okumura headcanons 💙

(in no particular order) (also there are spoilers)

ok smart fellas and fart smellas i have so many headcanons that i have finally decided to share today. this isnt gonna be like romantic stuff cause thats an oversaturated market. most of these headcanons are gonna about rin's life and stuff that i feel hasnt really been expanded upon :3

on that note, i love this man so much so here we go

-rin isn't used to his body after he first awakens. for the first few weeks, his tail causes him to have trouble balancing. at first, he finds that tucking it around his torso helps him find balance, but it becomes really uncomfortable after a while. basically the same feeling as one's back being hunched over for a long time, since his tail is connected to his spine. as he grows more comfortable with himself, he finds his center of balance and feels a lot better to have his tail free.

-as well as struggling with his new tail, rin constantly (and accidentally) bites his lips with his much sharper teeth. ouch

-rin's body temperature is slightly above average. he doesnt have to wear thick clothing during winter because he's already warm enough. when touched, his skin has a similar warmth to a hot cup of tea <3 or a pumpkin spice latte

-when he has leftovers he doesnt microwave them, instead he breathes a little bit of fire, just enough to heat the food up

-each time his hair turns white, his black hair ever so slightly gains white strands. when he notices it for the first time, he's insecure of it and plucks any white strands he sees. eventually it becomes too much so he starts dying his hair black.

- (this one is basically canon but whatever) rin's second awakening causes him to have 2 split personalities. like its not even demon related, he just straight up has a personality disorder now. after kurikara first breaks and he almost hurts his friends, and his big fight with yukio, he is constantly worried that his other self will come out at any time.

-hes embarrassed by his horns and doesnt like that theyre so small (go big or go home right?)

-if he practices, he can control any demonic element, like how satan fought everyone during the main fight.

-he has a strong relationship with the spirit element, due to being related to an azazel clone. he also has an affinity for time and space, as shown when he rips open the space where mephisto hid his heart

-he really loves making indian food and curries

-big fan of shonen jump, reads bleach, one piece, and tegami bachi

-pretends he doesnt, but he likes romance manga. favorites include: kamisama kiss inuyasha, blue flag, and many others

-thought his confession to shiemi would be like a romance manga

-he doesnt like wearing shoes

-since fully awakening, his body doesn't age. he will outlive his friends as well as yukio.

-he likes fishing

aaaand thats about it FOR NOWWWW! i have some other headcanons tucked away that i'll save for another post and ill also come up with some more. hope y'all like them 🦅✨

The old theory above stated how I believed onigashima was Kaido ancestor. Honestly we still haven't gotten his full Flashback especially regarding the Oni so I can't say if it's been debunked. But recently Kuma was revealed to be apart of the Buccaneer race. Which is special because they have Giant blood. My updated theory is that the Oni race is the same except they have the blood of Ancient giants like Oars/Oars 3rd

I gotta theory about kaido & that giant skull on onigashima. I've been rewatching inuyasha & remembered how Toga who is inuyasha dad was a giant oni. Seeing as to how we still don't know of Kaido true race[whether he is a dragon,oni,or human hybrid] I speculate the giant skull could be his father or his ancestor. Their being a sword there also correlates with inuyasha who found the tessaiga there. In my vid in the link above I mentioned that the ancient giant race may have been exterminated by another tribe who invaded wano. Let me know your thoughts

ramble-y post incoming:

tldr: is the inukag to izanori pipeline real, and am i falling headfirst into it? yes, yes i am.

[This post does contain spoilers for Kanata Kara and Inuyasha.]

recently (and by that i mean two days ago) i decided i wanted to start a shojo manga that wasn't too long, something I could read in between lectures. i checked some of my saved manga on the website i use, and found one that i had saved purely because i'd been enthralled by the cover art, which looked like this:

...that, and it was 14 volumes, so I thought i could finish it within a week or two, reading a few chapters every day.

i was wrong. i'm on volume ten and it's been a day and a half.

i haven't finished and I'm making this post (partly because i've been rambling about it in ballistic keysmash-consistent twitter posts) to say that Kanata Kara is good. very, very good. damn that one-star review on the site i'm using, because that shit has to be an accidental click. I love the world-building, the diverse cast of characters, and the art is magnificent. I think my favorite thing of all has to be the themes represented so far in the manga, perpetuated by our titular characters noriko and izark. I may make a future post about that when i finish the manga, but there is one thing i noticed while reading that struck me as really interesting: the dynamic between izark and noriko, and the characters themselves, remind me a lot of inuyasha and kagome.

now i'm gonna preface this by saying i'm not trying to say that these are the same dynamics or something, because they aren't - I just want to point out parallels i thought were really interesting, as someone who loves both relationships in their respective mangas. i also want to establish that Kanata Kara predates Inuyasha by three to five years*- so what I really should be saying is that inuyasha and kagome remind me of izark and noriko, but you get the picture. you could argue a number of things with this in mind, but i'm not here to discuss any of that. this isn't meant to be some sort of dumb gotcha; both series are good in their own ways, and some of the similarities i'm highlighting can be attributed to similar tropes being at play!

*(sources vary, some say 1993, others say 1995)

izark/inuyasha

demons - inuyasha is half inu-youkai, whereas izark is the sky demon from a prophecy that makes up much of the manga's internal and external conflict for him. an interesting contrast i found was that while inuyasha's half-demon features are present for the majority of the manga and his human side shows up only a handful of times, it's the exact opposite for izark, whose "human" appearance reigns for the majority of the manga.

both characters were shunned by their respective communities (and humanity at large, though inuyasha had his mother for some time, and izark's mother tried to kill him). when both parents died, they began living on the fringes of society, never interacting with anyone and, according to them, "preferring to be alone."

both share moments where their demon sides take over and they are unable to control themselves - unless, of course, their loved one is present to help them. otherwise, both are trapped in a violent, bloodthirsty state of mind that makes them lose parts of their identity each time transformation is undergone. both try to avoid this part of them out of fear of losing themselves, but when occasions rise where they are in those forms, their respective loved ones pull them out of it/help them ground themselves.

powerful fighters willing to quite literally put everything on the line for their respective loved ones - i'm talking half-dead-dragging their-bodies-across-the floor and thinking "well, at least she's okay."

one interesting difference to me is how izark and inuyasha approach their humanity. izark is constantly shown in his "human" form and is only in his demon form a handful of times, and the exact opposite is true for inuyasha. izark's earlier (brief) plan of doing away with noriko is spurned from his desire to avoid the tragic fate tied with his demonic form, whereas inuyasha's earlier actions are motivated by his desire to become a full demon. izark relates his demon side to inevitability, to the idea that he might just become the monster everyone prophesied him to be; inuyasha (in the beginning) views his humanity with scorn and associates it with weakness. he wants to embrace the possibility of achieving full demon status, and why? is it just because he wants power? in my opinion, no - I think it's a way of finding a place; being free to go where he wants. inuyasha is already powerful in his own right, and even when he's given the opportunity to claim a formidable weapon like his father's sword, he says he has no interest in it (until, of course, kagome mentions he could try to claim it just to spite sesshomaru, and only then is his interest peaked.) inuyasha seeks freedom by assimilating into a full demon identity, izark seeks freedom from that full demon identity, and only then will he feel in control of his life.

kagome/noriko

both from modern era japan and get isekaied into another world - kagome's instance is time-travel, though - noriko is transported to a whole other world with different culture, geography, and language (noriko having to learn the language of the people there and taking part in their customs is one of my favorite things about the manga!!)

the beacon of light in their respective groups/found family, bringing everyone together

key players in a "Prophecy of Doom" - kagome's "destiny" is to continue the cycle of the shikon jewel; noriko's "destiny" is to awaken the Sky Demon (izark). both girls, and their loved ones, change their futures.

damsels? maybe, but never in distress:

and, of course, the most prominent parallel for me: their acceptance of their lovers and the ripple effect that love has on their lovers' relationships and life:

"i'm not leaving you no matter what happens, no matter who you are - I will stay by your side":

"you changed my life for the better":

"i've opened up and become more vulnerable":

there are a ton of other examples i could use for this bullet, since it has a pretty broad spectrum of events that could fall under it, but these are my favorites.

i also want to draw attention to the way noriko deals with feeling powerless - both she and kagome are surrounded by powerful, experienced individuals, but unlike noriko, kagome has a reign on her archery and spiritual skills pretty early on in the manga, so she contributes in battles one way or another. one of noriko's longest internal conflicts is that she feels guilty that she can't do anything to help and that people are getting hurt on her behalf:

i absolutely love the advice given to her, and how it ties into the themes of the manga. noriko feels like she isn't helping, but even a simple thank you helps - even if it's just thanking one person for a single deed, everyone is intricately tied, and that goodwill spreads. it grows. it becomes a part of everyone. you don't have to be a fighter to spread good.

conclusion: the parallels are neat and READ KANATA KARA!

Takashi Shiina Blog Translation - First Chapter Completed

The first chapter is completed. Regarding this blog, it will have notes and advertisements before the chapter is released and when the manuscript has been finished, with a cut image at the beginning, and I’ll write about this and that, but this time I won’t post spoilers.

I think this project of me drawing “Yashahime” is interesting in terms of matching itself. I’d laugh too if I was told “Takashi Shiina will draw a Rumiko Takahashi manga” (laugh). Well, you could certainly say that this is an original anime project that uses “InuYasha” as its base. 

I think those who saw the announcement (of the manga) and have interest in it feel expectation and suspense like “what is Shiina-sensei exactly going to cook and how is he going to wrap it up”. That’s why I want you to taste that until the moment you pick it up and read it (laugh).

(The first chapter) went over well for those in the staff who checked the storyboard and Takahashi Rumiko-sensei also praised it, so I think the result wasn’t bad. My self checking function is often broken, but if it passes Takahashi-sensei’s standards, it’s okay (laugh). I sat down and drew more than (the usual number of pages) expected for weekly publication. It’s okay if you look forward to it… I think… probably. At least I hope you guys enjoy it as it turned out to be “a comicalization of my liking” for me.

Therefore, please wait a little bit longer until the Weekly Shonen Sunday S (Super) is released around 09/25.

00. INTRODUCTION. this is an independent mutuals - only tendo akane roleplay blog written by berry ( they / she / he ).

01. MANGA BASED. i've fully watched the anime + ovas + movies ( dubbed ), read the manga and i'm planning to watch the remake yet my akane will be entirely manga based. akane and ranma are equals and the 80s manga has been the only media so far reflecting this so i'm sticking with it.

02. FOLLOWING. this is a semi selective mutuals only blog. open to other fandoms, multimuses, ocs, and even doubles. having a rules page is a must for me, i won't follow without one. i have the right to unfollow and block at any moment. if i follow it means i'm interested in interacting ! feel free to send an ask, like old starter calls or approach to plot.

** be aware that i'll eventually soft block blogs that only interact with a limited group of people or those that i haven't interacted with at all in months. feel free to refollow later on if you do wish to interact. ** i don't support the use of ai ""art"" to make icons, edits or anything really. i'll softblock anyone who does so and won't follow back blogs using such tools. ** i will block personal blogs. i have had enough bad experiences with them so i would prefer if no personal blogs followed me or interacted with this blog or else i will block.

03. DNI. the basic dni criteria. i won't follow blogs with muses of the following fandoms unless they're a multimuse and the appearance of said characters isn't the main focus : voltron, hazbin hotel, helluva boss.

** i won't follow back rp blogs from the inuyasha sequel : 'yashahime: princess half-demon' unless there's a heavy divergence from canon. i don't acknowledge this anime and the outcome ( not to mention how it ruinied the inuyasha characters ) makes me incredibly uncomfortable, sorry

04. TAGS. ( # TW. EXAMPLE ), will tag ranma leaks and remake spoilers under : #TW. 2K24 RANMA SPOILERS.

05. IMS. open to mutuals. there's a little detail to have in consideration though: i suck at consistent messaging. i either reply right away or take weeks, months even, but that doesn't mean that i don't care about you or our plot, i'm simply forgetful and a general mess. i got a busy life so giving me reminders are pretty much welcome. with this said, feel free to reach out whenever !

** have in mind that if we have a plot or ship ( platonic, familiar, romantic ), i'll be sending you random images and musings that may remind me of our muses. i tend to spam messages whenever i owe a lot of things, if this isn't your cup of tea please feel free to tell me so can act accordingly.

ACTIVITY. sporadic, mostly lurking. during midterms and finals my activity will be almost nonexistent. reminders are welcome but pushing me to reply nonstop is something i won't tolerate, after all my irl responsibilities come first and this is a hobby i come to have fun. i do have another account i'm active on so if i'm not here find me on @/shungyo.

08. MULTISHIP. this is a multiship account, chemistry and plotting are a must. i won't jump straight away into a romantic relationship. i only practice exclusivity if my shipping partner does the same, if your rules specify this then i'll follow through.
