Hi! Long-time lurker, here finally decided to make a blog to interact with the community!

My name is andi, or ANDI (Andy with capital A and ending in Y just makes me uncomfy for some reason, can't explain why) I'm 28 years old and go by she/her pronouns.

I've always loved whump, even before I knew there was a term for it. As a teenager, I'd spend hours googling TV shows and movies where characters got beaten up or tied up (something about bondage and restraints always scratched an inch in my brain).

At first, my love for whump focused on physical whump: restraints of all kinds, pain, kidnapping and a good beat up. But over time, the psychological aspect of it grew on me too: fear, crying, manipulation, etc.

Writing has always been a passion of mine, I've always been a writer, not an exceptional one, but a writer nevertheless. I even participated in NaNoWriMo (fuck them) every year when I was younger, I think I won 5 years in a row. I stopped doing it in my early 20s to focus on fanfiction. (again fuck nanowrimo!)

When I finally discovered the term whump, I started to read fanfics that contained some sort of whump, then I discovered that people were writing their own stories, in their own world, with their own characters. I was hooked. I followed a few creators and found the whump community super welcoming and supportive. I always wanted to be part of it but let fear and my chronic shyness hold me back.

With Whumptober approaching, I've decided to step out of my comfort zone and participate. I'm giving myself a chance to get out there and share some of my original work this October.

hey, i'm jude! i'm nineteen and use he/him pronouns. i'm autistic and torturing fictional characters is one of my special interests. i've been into whump for a long time, but this is my first time actually getting involved in the community.

‧₊ ๑ least favorite things: vomiting. i have pretty bad emetophobia irl, can't handle seeing puke, but i can usually handle reading about a character puking if it's not detailed. i think that's my only least favorite whump thing that i can still (usually) read about.

‧₊ ๑ absolute no-gos: actual rape/non-con, nails or teeth being ripped out, super young whumpees (i do have some underage whumpee ocs, but they're all at least teenagers. i cannot handle little kids being hurt). uhh ... i think that's it, actually.

Name is Zabe! I’m a 25yo girl and have no idea what I’m doing. Usually open to constructive criticism whether it’s about how the heck tumblr should be done or my writing.

My favorite color is red (probably not cuz blood is red, but I wouldn’t be mad if you said so). I play drums professionally and play guitar as a hobby. Favorite band is Twenty One Pilots. Favorite show is Grey’s Anatomy. Sweet tea has replaced half of my blood I drink so much of it.

(Editing to add: just watched Arcane for the first time and LOVE it. Every bit of it is so masterfully done and they even gave us some excellent whump content.)

About my blog:

The blog will be mainly whump content in writing form, but if art or gifs ever grab a hold of me I’m not opposed.

I write mainly original content, but have been slowly inching into fanfic territory, so we’ll see. I like hurting the heck out of characters, but I actually lean more towards the comfort/recovery side. If you see a ton of hurt, there’s probably even more comfort on the B side, so keep going.

In the past I’ve typically written in third person, but some first person had made its appearances. I’ve actually been reading some second person fics and liked them so those may also pop up. If I write in second tho, there will be an alt version in third because of how niche second person is.

I do not write smut ever, but I have written bits of aftermath of sensitive topics. Content warnings will be used appropriately as needed if those ever get posted as well as any other warnings that apply. If I ever miss any, please let me know- I want to make everything as clear as possible and keep everyone happy in that way.

Whumpblr Intro

Hey! I've gone far too long without actually making an intro, despite having this side blog up for a bit. So here we go!

I go by Tac when I'm interacting online (my main blog is calligraphic-tac, and that's my chaos-corner where I try to post things I like, things that inspire me, and my more general writing, when I can actually get words out). Pronouns are she/her, although they/them are good backups.

I've been into whump for as long as I can remember, but in my 33 years on the planet, I only learned last year that there's a whole community for it. I'd heard the term "whump" before, and kind of knew what it was, but never made the connection to the type of media I like.

There are some whump tropes that I'll always enjoy, but the favorite flavor of the week is usually on rotation from the following list:

Superhero whump

Kidnapping

Defiant/Stoic/Strong/Snarky Whumpees

Self-sacrificial Whumpee

Pushing oneself until collapse (especially for Heroes/Leaders)

Whumpers who feign rage, but are actually very calculated and careful in their treatment of Whumpee

Lab whump (especially testing the limits of a living weapon or attempting to forcibly manifest powers that may or may not exist)

I'm sure I'm missing some, but I suppose I can amend this post when I remember some more. Some of my whump tastes are also kind of specific, so listing them concisely can be a challenge.

Not going to list my squicks here. (As the saying goes: "If you don't want someone to get your goat, don't let them know where it's tied.") However, if you're looking for NSFW-type whump, I don't typically write that. (Not for other folks, anyway; I'm rather terrible at it.)

I used to write a lot as a kid, but was often ashamed of my affinity for whump, so any time I tried to write it, I chickened out and wrote something else. I still wrote plenty of action and peril, but the whump was usually not as heavy as I initially imagined.

I've also been in a bit of a writing slump for... oh, goodness... It's going on 14 years now. I really want to get out of it, so I'm hoping whump writing will help.

Fun fact about me: A lot of my stories are grown from a kernel of whump. I think of a specific scenario I want to put an OC through, and then a whole story grows out of it.

Esmeralda St. Luc has finally started to figure her life out. She broke up with her abusive ex. She got over her shitty mother's death. She stopped drinking. She got a job, and an apartment, and can finally imagine a future for herself, with the endless support of her best-friend-maybe-something-more Astrid and her family, who are convinced that Esmeralda deserves better than what she gives herself.

However, when her ex --- Heather --- abruptly re-inserts herself into Esmeralda's life, it threatens to destroy every single thing she's worked for; Esmeralda and Heather spiral, with each other's help, further into mutual self-loathing, and Astrid has no idea what to do when her best friend keeps showing up with new bruises. Eventually, she stops showing up at all; and Esmeralda's brutal crash out will give her scars she's not sure she can ever recover from.
