Ferrari 308 GTB LM Evocation
Ferrari released the 308 GTB and GTS models in 1975 to replace the Dino 246 GT and GTS in 1975. The new 308 used a similar tubular steel frame to the Ferrari 308 GT4 with a version of the same engine – the Ferrari F106 AB V8 with double overhead cams per bank, two valves per cylinder, four twin-choke Weber 40DCNF carburetors, a swept capacity of 2,927cc or 2.9 litres.
The LM (an abbreviation of Le Mans) was a significantly reengineered version of the road car with a wider track, wider wheels, a body with considerable aerodynamic changes, and an uprated drive train for competition use.The car you see here is a more recent creation that has been built to 308 GTB LM spec with changes including uprated Intrax adjustable suspension, a four-tip sports exhaust, upgraded brakes, and an 80 kg weight reduction thanks to that stripped-out interior. The car’s appearance has been considerably changed thanks to the fitment of that front bumper and grille conversion, with a wider bodykit and a set of PLS wheels, clad with Pirelli P Zero Asimmetrico tires. The engine now breathes through a set of velocity stacks capped with grilles to keep larger debris out, this coupled with the sports exhaust resulted in notably improved performance.

can i ask what it was like working as an au pair? ive been interested in it lately 😅
yes sure! I will say that everyone's experiences are very different and while I had an overall good experience, many of my friends didn't.
firstly, I really recommend you pay for an agency that helps you take care of the bureaucratic side of things like visas, taxes etc and that assigns you a mentor in the states who can help if things go bad. I used Cultural Care, other ones I know are Ayusa Intrax and Au Pair in America (in my experience it doesn't really matter which one you choose). These agencies can be pretty shitty and you're bound to read about negative experiences with them but without them you are completely on your own and very easily exploited! I can't stress enough how much you need a support network aside from your host family.
the host family itself makes or breaks an au pair experience. there's no formula for finding a good family unfortunately, I was very lucky with mine but some of my friends had to switch families and one was even kicked out. a few basic tips I can think of:
- talk to their previous au pair if they had one!
- the most work-intensive ones are the families who have a baby and a toddler
- ask them about their expectations regarding household management. it's not your job to clean for them or cook for them or buy groceries for the whole family. it's important you stick to these boundaries when you first arrive even if you don't mind helping them out because many families will get used to your support and exploit it
- ask whether they work from home, personally I would never choose a family in which one parent is always home
- ask them for an estimate of how many other au pairs live in the area, it sucks when the nearest one lives 40 minutes away
- ask about whether you'll have a car available and what public transport looks like, nothing sucks more than being stuck at home during your time off
the kids are usually by far the best part about being an au pair, if you like working with children I think you won't have to worry about that. as a general rule the fewer kids the better just because you only have to keep one schedule in mind, and the younger the children the stronger the bond. I had one 3 three year old girl and I wouldn't change it for the world, I have rarely loved someone the way I loved my host child and leaving her behind after a year really broke my heart :(
one good thing about going with an agency is that you can switch families if it doesn't work out. I'd say about half of my friends switched families during the year and they all were far happier after. my biggest fear was having to go into rematch because I thought only bad families want a new au pair but that's absolutely not true, a lot of times the au pair is the problem and the host family is just fine. and I REALLY recommend you go into rematch if you're unhappy, one of my friends stuck with her borderline abusive host family for a year and it almost broke her.
for the most part I really liked being an au pair, I loved my child and I got along well with my host family, I had a car available at all times, and I lived only 40 minutes from nyc so I could always go into the city during my time off. one thing I found difficult is living with your employers but I'm afraid there's no way around that as an au pair :( it really helped me grow up, I was depressed and insecure when I graduated from high school and I really became a whole new person during that year lol, I gained so much confidence and knowledge and people skills etc
this was kind of a broad overview of everything I could think of, if you have more specific questions feel free to ask!

Quarantine Journal
Log for 5/27
woke up, tried to basically just hold it together bc I was VERY nauseated and I felt like I was over-producing saliva.  Ugh.  No coffee this morning, ate some, hoping it'd go away by midday.  It did not... waves of nausea over the day
watched the great for a bit.  It's a lot, but it's also very fun
logged onto school-wide zoom call to find out that stafford house is officially not reopening (fuck you trump, fuck you covid).  I'm... sad.  Extremely sad.  I've been working for them since 2008.  I was still regularly updating this when I got that job.  Pretty sure there's a journal entry here from when I got it.  Just.. fuck, man.  Literally Intrax/SH was a... home.  It's the place I learned to teach, really.  It's the place I went back to when the only REAL professional, paying job I ever got in this field was ripped from me.  It was my safety net.  I knew this was coming.  I knew it, I knew it.  God this industry fucking sucks.  This is why I had to go back to school.... I have three degrees and yet I cannot fucking find a goddamned job that pays me above 30K a year.  Fuck this, man. I just... sigh.
Walked down to the postal place to return some rental books from school
flea dipped Suki -- poor baby peed himself and shivered the whole night
Transferred the sourdough starter to a much better permanent home
still fighting waves of nausea throughout the day -- basically survived off saltines and gingerale and soup
Watched more ToS with Karen

COURT ORDERS PRELIMINARY INJUNCTION IN FAVOR OF CHAMBER AND TRADE ASSOCIATIONS AGAINST PRESIDENT H, L, J VISA BAN
U.S. District Court has ordered a preliminary injunction against President’s Proclamation (10052) which banned a new issuance of H-1B, L-1, J-1 and H-2B work visa and banned the entry of these workers and their dependents. This order was made on a case, National Association of Manufacturers, et al. v. U.S. Department of Homeland Security, et al. (4:20-cv-04887-JSW), by U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California in favor of National Association of Manufacturers, Chamber of Commerce, National Retail Federation, Technet, and Intrax, Inc. (collectively “Plaintiffs”) and members of the Plaintiff associations.
TechNet member companies include large technology companies including Google, Microsoft, Apple, etc.. Intrax is major J-1 sponsor. National Association of Manufacturers is a trade association and its membership is across the country and in variety of industry within manufacturing. ), and Chamber of Commerce is a nationwide body with local chapters and Chambers. This is not a nationwide injunction, therefore, only members (and their employees) of the Plaintiff associations can benefit from this lawsuit. Other companies and trade associations can perhaps bring their own lawsuit.
United States District Judge Jeffrey S. White made the order and found that:
Congress’ delegation of authority in the immigration context under Section 1182(f) does not afford the President unbridled authority to set domestic policy regarding employment of nonimmigrant foreigners. Such a finding would render the President’s Article II powers all but superfluous. See id. at 592-93 (“[T]he text of Article I and more than two centuries of legislative practice and judicial precedent make clear, the Constitution vests Congress, not the President, with the power to set immigration policy. If the fact that immigrants come from other countries inherently made their admission foreign relations subject to the President’s Article II power, then all of this law would be superfluous.”). Indeed, there must be some measure of constraint on Presidential authority in the domestic sphere in order not to render the executive an entirely monarchical power in the immigration context, an area within clear legislative prerogative. Such unrestricted authority would be contrary to Congress’ explicit delegation of powers in foreign affairs and national security… The Congressional delegation of power “does not provide the President with limitless power to deny visas to immigrants based on purely long-term economic concerns” or “purely domestic economic problem[s].” Id. at 1065, 1067. Because the Proclamation at issue here as well “deals with a purely domestic economic problem,” the Proclamation does not implicate “the President’s foreign affairs powers” and “his power is more circumscribed when he addresses a purely domestic economic issue.”
The judge further Orders:
The Defendants (U.S Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and U.S. Department of State (“State”)), their agents, servants, employees, and all others in active concert or participation with them are enjoined, pending final judgment, from implementing, enforcing, or otherwise carrying out Section 2 of Proclamation 10052 with respect to Plaintiffs and, with respect to the association Plaintiffs, their members.
Defendants, their agents, servants, employees, and all others in active concert or participation with them are enjoined, pending final judgment, from engaging in any action that results in the non-processing or non-issuance of applications or petitions for visas in the H, J, and L categories which, but for Proclamation 10052, would be eligible for processing and issuance, with respect to the Plaintiffs and the members of the Plaintiff associations.
This preliminary injunction shall take effect immediately and shall remain in effect pending trial in this action or further order of this Court.

Radical SR10 First Look: One Radical Track Toy
Easy to operate and cost-effective, the all-new Radical SR10 aims to keep drivers on the track for longer stretches at faster speeds, whether dicing it up at the local club track day or racing in the Radical Cup. Expanding on the architecture of the Radical Motorsports SR model line, which includes the SR3 and SR8, the SR10 offers the next level of Radical performance, incorporating some aspects of the marque’s larger RXC range of cars.
Manufactured in Peterborough at the Radical Motorsports United Kingdom production facility, the mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive SR10 is powered by a turbocharged 2.3-liter inline four-cylinder rated at 425 hp and 380 lb-ft of torque. Developed by Radical Performance Engines from the Ford EcoBoost engine, the SR10’s four-pot features a bespoke Garrett G-Series turbocharger and a dry-sump lubrication system. Radical claims the in-house turbocharger provides reduced lag and better throttle response.
Also new is a Hewland GT3-based six-speed gearbox mated to a Hewland TMT transaxle. The SR10 is the first Radical to use the TMT transaxle, which was first developed for the 2009 FIA F2 race car. Built on a lightweight spaceframe chassis to FIA specifications, the SR10’s priorities are centered around durability and maximum performance. A fully adjustable Nik-link suspension system, interchangeable anti-roll bars, Intrax triple-adjustable dampers with anti-roll control technology, and forged center-locking hubs provide chassis control. A paddle-activated gearshift system with automatic throttle blipping and a torque-sensing limited-slip differential round out the performance kit. Radical estimates the engine’s rebuild interval at 80 hours of use, or more than 6,200 miles of race-pace action.
The two-seat open cockpit features an ergonomic dashboard (waterproof), an AiM Formula steering wheel, lightweight paddle shifters, a wheel-mounted LCD multi-page display with loads of real-time data (like on the SR3 XX), and a dash-mounted brake bias adjuster. In another first for the SR model line, the Radical SR10’s controls include adjustable steering assist for the optional electric power steering system, as well as engine and gearbox mapping options. Other optional features and upgrades include a set of carbon-composite high-downforce dive planes, a central-position single-seat layout, and an air jack system.
Targeted at endurance racers, track day enthusiasts, and motorsport country club members, the track-only Radical SR10 promises electrifying performance, outstanding grip, and real aerodynamics. Ready to order now and sold worldwide at £105,000 (about $137,000 at today’s rates) excluding delivery fees, the first SR10s should reach customers in October.
Radical SR10 Specifications:
425 hp
380 lb-ft
Curb weight of about 1,600 pounds
20.3-gallon fuel cell
Peak lateral force: 2.3 g
L x Wx H: 160.5 x 70.8 x 43.0 in
Radical Motorsports Fast Facts:
Radical Motorsports formed in 1997
Partners include Hankook Tire, Aim Technologies, and PFC brakes
Made first appearance at Le Mans in 2006 with the SR9 LMP2
Car number 1,000 was produced in 2010
The SR3 XX and SR10 were launched in 2020

Radical Sportscars, the purveyor of track-focused machines, has introduced its latest creation at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed. Called the Rapture, it’s the company’s new flagship, road-legal sports car that continues to delivers an “unapologetic assault on the senses.”
Don’t let the cool demeanour of the models in the photo fool you, the Rapture comes with very little creature comforts to deliver as raw a driving experience as possible. Without a roof or windscreen, your exposure to the elements is rather high.
At the core of the Rapture is a lightweight spaceframe chassis, which features an FIA-compliant safety cell and crash structure. What little bodywork fitted is made of a composite material, with an adjustable bi-plane rear wing and double-tunnel diffuser for real downforce.
The chassis also gets an enhanced version of the firm’s proven Nik-link suspension system with Intrax Racing adjustable ARC dampers, and the company says these items have been optimised for both road and track use. Stopping power is provided by 300 mm (front) 280 mm (rear) disc brakes with four-pot calipers.
Motivation comes in the form of a Ford EcoBoost 2.3 litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that you’ll also find in the Focus RS and Mustang, albeit reworked by Radical’s engine division to push out 350 hp and 434 Nm of torque. Mounted midship, the mill sends drive to the rear wheels through a six-speed sequential gearbox and Quaife ATB differential.
The Rapture is predicatably a light car, tipping the scales at just 765 kg, allowing it to accelerate from zero to 96 km/h (0-60 mph) in just three seconds, and up to 161 km/h (100 mph) after another 5.4 seconds. The top speed here is 265 km/h.
What about the interior? Well, you get two moulded racing seats with integral headrests and multi-point harnesses, an AiM MXS LCD display with data-logging functions, heating and buttons on the steering wheel. Oh, there’s a 12-volt power socket and a fire extinguisher system too. Neat.
Radical Rapture revealed – 765 kg; 350 hp and 434 Nm Radical Sportscars, the purveyor of track-focused machines, has introduced its latest creation at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed.

I think we get lost in the numbers of a build, one too many times. We want the highest horsepower, the most boost, just a little more lift in the cam, more displacement… the list goes on. We’re all guilty of it in one way or another. But there’s a sweet spot with every car. A sweet spot that the internet often ignores. That perfect balance that exceeds anything numbers could explain. That point where you get the wondrous gut feeling of controlled chaos….. while still having a reliable, functioning machine that you know won’t shit a piston at any second. Something that’s not naive and wildly unpredictable like an angsty teen. It’s aged fine, mature, strong, stable, and wise… like an OG in flannel who’s homies with his old enemies.
So, while some are out there, rippin’ about for another month until they’re bricked in a garage for the next year. While others are changing through wheels and trying to be the next loudest, flashiest and most flared. Mark will still be there, slowly mastering his machine. Teetering on that fine-tipped point of perfection & balance. This is Mark Leake. This is his 1990 Toyota Celica All-Trac Turbo.
*lights corn cob pipe while wearing velvet robe*
When I think of Celica All-Trac, I think of the white, green, and red Castrol livery WRC Celica. The Celica entered right after Group B WRC closed. Toyota could only offer production cars to the continuing rally team. In a little over a year, Toyota Team Europe converted this street car into a dominating WRC machine. Between the Celica GT-4’s three generations in the sport, it won 30 WRC series. This generation, the ST-185, won 16 of the those 30. Arguably, Toyota Team Europe’s domination of the early 90’s WRC put Japan on the top of the sport. If you know anything about Rallye, you know this car.
In 1995, the FIA ordered mandatory turbo restrictor plates on competing cars. TTE didn’t want to lose its edge on the competition and meticulously designed a restrictor that disengaged once installed. That meant when it was taken apart to inspect, everything looked normal and law abiding by the FIA. It’s all about interpreting the rulebook lol. Unclear on how they caught the extra 50hp from the 25% additional airflow, the FIA had no choice but to disqualify & ban the team for a year. However, they could not ignore the totally clever innovation of the plate saying, “It’s the most ingenious thing I have ever seen in 30 years of motorsports.” By the time TTE came back, teams like Mitsubishi & Subaru had followed their path and furthered the movement of Japanese WRC domination.
See, Toyota did something amazing. After Group B was closed, they took this model off the production line and made it into a strong, mature, and stable monster. TTE showed the world that they can find that perfect balance in their curvaceous sport coupe, even if it wasn’t meant for WRC, and crush the competition. They built something unique… and built it to handle anything you could throw at it. They built a movement. A movement that I believe helped lead to the scene that blew up in the early 2000s.
*snuffs out tobacco pipe*
In love with all that’s behind the Celica All Trac, Mark had to get one. He drove all the way to Texas in hopes to buy one, but after inspection, came back empty-handed. Back home at a local Toyota meet, however, he got a lead on a good ST-185 shell a couple hours east of home. It was the one.
But Leake’s work was cut out for him. He picked up a Celica GT-4 front clip from Jarco Inc. and got to work. Like most of us, he began the swap with little knowledge of what to expect. However, thanks to practical Toyota engineering, patiently taking everything apart from the clip taught him all he needed to know about dropping the 3SGTE with 5-speed AWD transmission into his shell.
From there-on, staying true to the Celica’s engineered limitation was the goal. With today’s technology, turbos, and tuners, it’s easy for us to blow way past previous ceilings. But Mark trusted that Toyota had it right in the early 90’s. He could make it faster, but that wouldn’t stay true to the era.
Mark’s ST-185 begs questions… the types of questions that carry the brand’s heritage. Mark’s preserving a moment in time & motorsports.
