The impact of these acts whether the violence is physical, sexual, or psychological affects not only the women that have to stand bravely and rebuild their lives and their minds, but also their loved ones that share the emotional repercussions of the trauma. A rather grim reminder to keep in mind during the holidays season and beyond that, to create visible change in the world around us starting with what your attitudes are, what you will not tolerate, and what you chose to say and do in the coming months. To not just watch the women in your world respond to the #MeToo hashtag with heartrending accounts of how they stand up to the injustices done to their lives, with effects that other people can’t know what it is to go through, but to understand that everyone has to do something to change this awful reality that plagues campuses, offices, local arenas, supposedly safe spaces and reaches into the first space anyone knows, their homes. Make the effort to change your world for the better, otherwise don’t bother being surprised when you are perceived as something of a monster that you don’t seem to recognize by the entire other half of the population, because that monster is there, and not fighting it makes you complicit. The pains and sorrows will come back to you in some way or the other, and mercy will be as silent and still as you once were when faced with basic human decency. What is love without respect. You are made of what you act on and truly hold in your heart known only to yourselves, not the outward constant striving for fleeting glances that is put on daily promenade in the insufferable, inane immaturity of some menfolk that are nothing more than a grandstand of boredoms while women still also have to work through the emotional pain from when it change their life. I ask you then, what is love if someone won’t care for the treatment of women and honor the gifts of love that should always be nurtured. 💖
