Carrying it all on your shoulders (Daniel Ricciardo)
Juggling two kids without Daniel proved to be harder than you thought
Note: english is not my first language. I don't get requests for Daniel that often, and dad!Daniel is very fun and cute to write!
Thank you so much to everyone who likes and reblogs, your feedback is appreciated 🤍 and I'm taking requests so if you have any ideas or concepts you want to share, feel free to do so as I'll try to get to them the best I can!
my masterlist

"Y/N, are you sure you want to do it? I'll do it no problem", your colleague assured you, "even one of the interns can do it, Y/N! Seriously, go home earlier!", she offered.
"I can do it", you added, crossing over the task you had completed on your post it note and writing two more down, "Sophia just started her ballet class and Alice's nursery had a pantomime today so they're keeping the kids for a little longer", you winked at her, gathering the documents and getting ready to complete the task.
Lately, this was your routine. Drop the girls at school and nursery, head up to work, pick the girls up and drive home before homework, playtime, dinner time and then the bedtime routine. When Daniel was still home, it was usually him doing the school and nursery runs so it wasn't like it added a lot to your routine, but it requires more juggling than you initially thought.
By the time you finished the tasks, you were the only one left, shutting down your laptop and closing all of the doors once you had your belongings all packed into your bag, finally calling it a day and heading to your car.
Picking a very sleepy Alice from nursery and then a pouty Sophia from her ballet class, you tried your best to not bother the youngest one, "how was your class today, princess?", you wondered once you stopped at a red light, turning around slightly so you could look at your daughter's face.
"It was okay", she stated, remaining unusually quiet all the way back home as she looked outside the window.
"I'm going to put Alice down for a little nap and then I'll go and help you with your homework, okay?", you said to Sophia as she set her backpack down near her desk, "I don't have any today", she said, closing the door behind her as you walked to Alice's room, laying her down on the mattress and kissing the top of her head, feeling it warmer than usual.
"Oh, babygirl", you cooed, grabbing the thermometer from the medicine cubby and putting it on her ear, silently hoping it was just you.
A minute later, the result showed she was beggining to develop a fever. Sighing, you stored the thermometer in its box and got the medicine from your bathroom, grabbing the syringe to put it in her mouth when you managed to waker her up without a big fuss.
"I know you don't want this, baby", you cooed as Alice stirred in her sleep, big brown eyes looking up at you with tears welling up on them, "take this for mummy, okay?", you pleaded, "you'll feel better, my love", you said, holding her on your arms so she could fall asleep again.
The tiredness came over you pretty quickly, making you sit on the rocking chair, closing your eyes for a little bit and taking a deep breath. Because she was your second child, you didn't feel like the first time Sophia got sick. While in the first time, you ran around like a headless chicken, ready to bring her to the emergency room and messaging her pediatrician until both your parents' and Daniel's parents assured you and your husband you were doing just fine. So far, she didn't seem to bothered by it, just sleep, so you allowed yourself the moment to rest with her, rubbing her back and showering her with kisses and a good cuddle.
"Mummy?", Sophia asked, knocking on the door of her sister's room to announce she was coming in, "what are we having for dinner?", she asked, taking in the sight of you and her sister.
"Oh", you noted, not having given it much thought until that moment, "we can have spaghetti bolognese, I'll just have to boil some pasta - I think we still have some of those heart shapes pastas daddy brought home the other day -, or we could have some chicken nuggets and rice if you prefer that", you offered, thinking of the meal plan meals you had in the fridge as you didn't feel like cooking everything from scratch tonight.
"The spaghetti bolognese is fine", she whispered, coming closer to you and kissing her sister's hand, "is Alice sick?", she questioned.
"She has a bit of a fever, it's probably something she picked up from in nursery, you used to get these every now and again, too", you explained, brushing the curls away from her eyes, "she'll be fine though. Are you feeling okay, beautiful girl?", you checked with her, wanting to be prepared in case both kids came down with this bug.
"I feel fine", she assured you, kissing your cheek before she saw you get up and grabbing the sling, wrapping her sister against you, "do you want to help me with the pasta then?", you smiled, stretching your hand so she could grab it and you both could head to the kitchen.
"I'll set the plates", Sophias offered, making you kiss the top of her head as a thank you and going back to stirring the pasta while the sauce warmed up in another pot.
You ate the food in a quieter environment that usual, and while the reasonable voice in your head told you that it was due to the fact that everyone was a little tired, the snarky and mean one made you feel guilty.
As you washed up the pots and plates from dinner while Sophia spent some time watching cartoons on TV, your mind took you to the mom guilt feelings, rewinding back to all of the times in the last two weeks where you didn't spend time with either of them separately, all of the times where you had to rush to get out of the house all in one piece and all of the things you weren't doing well.
"Soph", you called, "I'm going upstairs to put Alice down, is there anything I can do for you before I go?", you wondered.
"Can I have your phone so I speak to daddy, please?", she asked, "he hasn't called today", she reasoned, "take it from my pocket, bub", you said, tuning your back to her slightly so she could retrieve the device from the denim material, "call me if you need anything, okay?", you checked with her, "okay, mummy! Night night, Alice, I love you", she waved at her sister who blew her a sloppy kiss.
Sitting down on the sofa, Sophia pressed Daniel's contact, smiling at the love heart on the contact despite having seen it many times before, "hey!", Daniel said, a little surprised to see the little girl's face instead of yours.
"Hi daddy!", she smiled, "mummy is putting Alice to sleep so I thought I'd talk to you for a bit", she said, "I have something to tell you".
"Oh, okay, tell me then", Daniel concerned, sensing that what your daughter wanted to tell him was something troubling her.
"I'm confused", she began, "do you remember that book you and mummy read to me and Alice? The one with the monster who is now doctor?", she tried as Daniel nodded.
Anna Llenas was one of your favourite authors for kids' stories and you always read them to your family. The way they spoke about their emotions and how to deal with them became a great tool to get them to talk openly about how they felt and Sophia seemed to be getting it.
"Yes, baby, what about it?", Daniel asked.
"I feel confused, because today I didn't really want to go to the ballet practice but I did it anyway", she said, "so I was really quiet and my friends noticed it, the teacher, too. And mummy, I think she's upset with me, too", she admitted.
"Well, do you remember what the turtle nurse did in the book?", Daniel questioned, "she had her first aid box full of things that make her heart feell warm and good", Sophia mumbled, "go and get it then, princess", Daniel urged.
Sophia pulled the box from under the sofa. The premise of the activity on the book as simple: the kids had to make a box full of things that helped them regulate their emotions and feelings when they felt confused, sad or anxious. While Alice was still too little to make one, Sophia loved the arts and crafts aspect of it and spent the whole afternoon with Daniel making her perfect first aid kit.
"Do you remember what we do with the bee drawing?", Daniel guided, "we take a big breath in, and then a big breath out", he exemplified, doing it three more times with her before speaking up again, "do you feel better?".
"I do, daddy", she said, fishing out something out of the box, "this is the pillow we made with mummy, she sewed it with my favourite soft fabrics", she smiled at the memory, rubbing it on her cheek, "and a picture of us, look!", she showed Daniel the frame with the picture of the first race Alice attended, the four of you in front of the motorhome with big smiles.
"That's right baby, we can also dance it out a little if you want", Daniel offered but she shook her head, showing him the empty bottle of medicine, "this is the 'No medicine', right?", she checked with him. The bottle was of course empty, but the idea was there.
"That's right! Sometimes we have to say no when we don't want to do some things", Daniel advised, remembering the story well enough without having the actual book in front of him, "to adults, we have to be more careful because there are things that we can't run from, but for your ballet classes, for example, you can say you don't want to go if you don't want to, sweetie", he told her earnestly.
"Okay daddy", she whispered, taking another deep breath with her finger following the wavy bee line on the drawing.
"Promise you'll tell me or mummy whenever that happens?", he asked, "I promise, daddy", she smiled, seeming calmer and happier now.
"That's great, Soph. I'm very proud of you for telling me that", he complimented, "Can I ask you about mummy, princess? Is she still upstairs?", he checked with her, not wanting her to think he didn't care about her anymore.
"Yes, daddy", Sophia smiled before pouting, "she's a little tired, and yesterday I think she was crying. I know I wasn't supposed to be up, but I forgot Snuggles by the door", she explained, mentioning her stuffed teddy that she loved to sleep with, "and when I went to pick it up, I heard mummy sniffling, she was doing it quietly but I heard it still", she told him.
Your daughter confirmed his suspicions. Before he left, you spoke about how you were going to handle two kids and your job, and while at the time it seemed good, the practical side of the conversation looked to be otherwise. He called everyday and he noticed you looking more tired each day, but he justified it on the adjustment. Eventually, there would be a day that you finally adapted to the routine, but that was wishful thinking.
"Soph, are you still on the phone with daddy?", you called from the corridor, loud enough for her to hear but quiet enough that it wouldn't disturb Alice in the sleep you worked so hard in getting her to.
"Hey, gorgeous", Daniel said as you appeared on the screen as Sophia handed you your phone back, "I'm going to get ready for bed, mummy, I'll wait for you when you can read my bedtime story", she smiled, kissing you cheek and saying goodbye to Daniel.
"How was your day?", he asked, "busy busy, but it's over now. Things are going at full speed. Sophia was a bit quieter when she arrived, but she seemed better - no need to rub it in that she's a daddy's girl -, and Alice has caught the bug that has been going around", you shrugged your shoulders, "her temperature is slowly cooling down, and other than that, she's fine", you sighed, "and yours?".
Daniel told you about his meetings, not wanting to pester you too much as he could sense the tiredness you felt, "I'll let you go rest, though. Have a good night, gorgeous", he blew you a kiss before your face disappeared.
Opening his laptop, he looked for a flight that would make him arrive just in time for school pick up, "I can't stay for the rest of the week", Daniel said to the members of the team on the meeting room, "Y/N and the girls need me back home, so if that's okay with you, we'll do these remotely", he half stated, looking for any signs of discontentment or disagreement.
As soon as he got the green light, he couldn't wait to finish that sponsorship content meeting, filming everything he needed to as quickly as possible before bidding goodbye to everyone, going back to the hotel room and pack everything up so he could go to the airport. A long flight away from his wife and kids and all would be well.
Alice didn't sleep all that well, and in turn neither did you, so you called in to work to let them know that you would be working from home as best as you could since your little girl was staying home for the day. Sophia seemed well that morning when you dropped her off at school, soothing your heart from the worries that had plagued you.
"It's me and you, baby girl", you said, kissing the top of her head as she slept on the sling, her fist grasping the fabric of your cardigan as you walked around the house, hoping to really settle her when you heard a car outside.
"Why does that look like daddy?", you mumbled out loud as if Alice could give you her opinion, focusing on the man walking up to the front door and giving you enough time to open it.
"Before you say anything, I had to do it and I won't go back", Daniel raised his hands once he set his luggage inside, closing the door behind him and kissing the top of your head and then Alice's as you stood there surprised.
"Danny, we didn't- I-", you tried, and as if your mouth wouldn't let you lie, the words didn't seem to come out of you.
"I came as soon as I could, and I should've come sooner", he said, "I want to be here for you as much as I can and I need to make sure my girls are okay - all three of them", he looked at you, "Soph told me she heard you crying", he stated as he got you to sit on the sofa in the living room.
"Another point for the greatest mother of the year award", you chastised yourself, taking a deep breath to level out your emotions.
"No, none of that", Daniel offered sternly, "you have been juggling everything on your own and it's harder that we originally thought it would be. I'm sorry it took me so long to come", he apoligised, hands undoing the sling so he could get Alice to rest against his chest instead.
"It's been a lot - and frankly, I haven't been very good at delegating at work", you chuckled, smiling at the delicious sight of a sleeping child on Daniel's chest.
"You also need the 'No medicine' Soph has in her box", he giggled despite the seriousness of the conversation, "I can see that you haven't slept all that much, so why don't you go and have a good sleep?", he suggested, "we'll talk a little bit more about this afterwards, but you need to rest first", he said, "I'll go and pick up Sophia, so you just stay here and take care of yourself, okay?", he said, tapping your butt playfully to get you to get up and head to your bedroom.
While you caught up on sleep, Daniel tidied the house as much as he could before picking up Sophia, who excitedly ran up to her father when she saw him and his sister on the parking lot, "Is mummy with you, too?", she wondered, "no, mummy is resting at home. We are going to get some food for dinner so we can all have a cosy night in, how does that sound?", he questioned, earning cheers from her and her sister who qas thankfully feeling much better, giggling in delight as she clapped her hands.
"Who's that? That's mummy, isn't she looking pretty today, Alice? Yes, she is!", Daniel said as you walked into the kitchen, Sophia's notebook open on the table as she wrote on it, "she didn't want to leave the kitchen and I wanted to make pancakes for their snacks, so we found a middle ground", your husband justified himself.
"It's okay", you smiled, kissing everyone's cheeks and tapping Alice's nose, "well, I'm glad you're feeling better, little miss", you said.
"Also, I'm in charge of dinner. I spoke to the people on your team - I'm their boss' husband so I sort of have some power too", he joked, "and they're going to delegate the work these next few days so you can stay home to rest and just work a teeny tiny little bit. I also plan on doing the school pick ups and cooking", he smiled, proud of his plans.
"I'm okay to help, too, Daniel, really", you tried, "no need for that, like I said! I'm going to take charge of the next few days, there's no reason why I can't and it's going to be great", he giggled, "we're in this together, darling, and there's no way you're carrying this all on your shoulders".

There we go !! So the "new" au isn't so new but it's just villain Mic in a different setting :D since he likes to juggle between different jobs I just thought I could take it much further because HONESTLY, he has one of the most OP quirks ever and I wonder why more hasn't been done with that.
Anyway, so in this AU, tenko was found by All Might before AFO ー which means he is NOT the leader of the LOV. I 100% believe that if AFO was weakened enough, Mic could have EASILY killed him with the sound of his voice (blew up his internal organs before he could even regenerate).
In this case, I think Mic would've definitely made a GREAT leader for villains, one, because he's known to be very smart, and two, very strong so CAN be feared / respected.
I based his design on a snake because I already had the headcanon that villain Mic has two tattoos : a cockatoo on his right arm, and a snake on his back (a snake because he slowly kills his victim, the association with the devil, and just the sneaky, hypocritical behavior)
So this Mic's villain name as the leader of villains would be Sibilus (thank you Majuki for coming up with the name <3) He'd be entirely capable of creating an underworld organization which operates independently and from the shadows. Recruiting villains would pretty much be for the same reason, bringing chaos onto the hero world; Mic never cared much about either side, he only really cares about being the center of attention. So whatever anyone wants to achieve, he'll help them, as long as he gets to be the "savior" (hence the crown) So the design has more snake references like the cane, the boots, as well as the long veil that trails behind him like a snake tail
He'd also be the type to just pull whoever is waning to the dark side, duping them into believing they just belong I don't have much more about this au other than what I've mentioned already + Mic is STILL a traitor, still pretending to be a hero at UA, still using "MV/Emvy" as a cover identity to commit petty crimes for the hell of it + find new recruits. "Sibilus" is an appearance / name he keeps secret and only shows to the very close members of the league he'd create

Power Meets Prescription

Summary :- You work as a doctor in a hospital that caters to high-maintenance patients. And your newest patient- the head of the Italian mafia, Alexei Belmonte- is obsessed with you and is trying to take you out on a date.
Pairing :- Mafia boss!OC x Doctor!Reader
Warnings :- Mentions of getting shot and stabbed (nothing graphic).
Tumblr media
Working in a hospital that caters to high-maintenance patients can be exhausting. These include actors, actresses, models, mayors, senators, politicians, and even members of the mafia. Interestingly, almost every patient is listed under an alias; it would be unwise not to do so.
You are on your way to see your last patient for the day, the notorious Italian mob boss, Alexei Belmonte. A few days back, he narrowly escaped a bullet, sending shockwaves through his organization. Managing his security detail and handling his top associate was quite a balancing act, akin to juggling flaming swords, but that's just another typical day on the job, isn't it? After patching him up, he was quickly escorted to a luxurious suite, because, of course, he expected nothing less than VIP treatment.
You see the expensive doors to his room, a number plate done in intricate detail on the door. Few guards are stationed in front of it, and they open the door with a nod to you once they sight you. Walking inside, you're met with Alexei on the bed, leaned against a few pillows, his phone in hand. Cameron D'Angelo- second in command, first in brooding- is seated on the sofa opposite the bed. His expression screams: “I’ve seen things, doc. Things that would make your medical license curl up and cry.” You could see the faint outline of a gun under his jacket, though it dosen't faze you much these days. Similar to Alexei, he too is on his phone. The latter's eyes lifts to yours at the sound of the door closing.
"If it isn't the pretty doctor," he grins, his voice smooth and velvety. He's wearing a plain black button-up and sweatpants, and his normally slicked-back hair is now tousled as if he's run his fingers through it several times.
You let out an internal sigh at his words, not really paying attention as you flip through the pages of the clipboard with his information. Taking the cap off the pen and getting ready to write, you sneak a quick glance at him.
"How are you doing?"
"Good, a bit of pain, but overall good," he answers, although his eyes are fixed on how good you look in your doctor's coat. You jot down some notes before checking his vitals.
"You'll be good to go within two days," you tell him.
"Perfect." He looks at his second-in-command and nods. Cameron gets up from the couch and walks over to the door, opening and closing it quietly, most likely to deal with his boss's discharge.
"So doctor," Alexei's velvet voice draws your attention back to him. "How about I take you out after I'm discharged?"
"Take me out as in murder?" You respond dryly, not really in the mood for his charm.
Alexei laughs, a genuine one; not one of his unhinged or mocking laughs. "You're funny, doll."
"If there isn't anything else Mr. Belmonte, I'll be going."
Alexei can't take his eyes off you as you walk away, a little smirk playing on his lips. Since you became his doctor, he's been totally fixated on you. He's been trying to charm you into going out with him, but let's just say it's not going as smoothly as he'd hoped. You've been pretty good at brushing him off, but he's not giving up that easily. After all, a Belmonte always gets what he wants.
-----
Alexei had been discharged several weeks ago. You have not seen him or any of his associates since then. Your own schedule was hectic, especially after one of the politicians was stabbed and the aftermath that followed.
Finally done for the day, you step out of the hospital's automatic glass doors. Your plan was to get into bed and sleep for the next twenty years, but your attention was drawn to a familiar figure leaning against a black car.
What is he doing here, you think as you walk closer to him.
"My favourite doctor!" Alexei grins, straightening up from his leaning position.
"Alexei," you acknowledge, your voice tinged with surprise and a hint of caution. "What brings you here?"
"I couldn't stay away," he says, his grin broadening.
Right, because hospitals are such romantic hotspots. Forget candlelit dinners; give me fluorescent lights and sanitized hand gel any day, you think.
"I thought you might need a ride home. Consider it a thank you for patching me up." Oh, great. A ride home from the guy who probably has a secret compartment full of weapons. But hey, your feet hurt, and your Uber rating could use a boost.
You glance at the sleek black car, its polished surface reflecting the hospital’s lights. "I appreciate the offer, but I can manage."
"Come on, doll," he insists, his tone playful yet persuasive. "It's just a ride. No strings attached."
You hesitate, weighing your options. It's been a long day, and the idea of a comfortable ride home is tempting. Plus, refusing him outright might not be the best idea. With a resigned sigh, you nod.
"Alright, but just a ride," you emphasize. "No detours."
"Scout's honor," Alexei says, placing a hand over his heart in mock sincerity. He opens the passenger door for you, and you slide into the plush leather seat. Once he’s behind the wheel, he starts the car, the engine purring smoothly.
The ride is surprisingly silent, the city lights whizzing past as Alexei drives like he's in a Fast & Furious movie. You half expect Vin Diesel to pop up in the backseat. You steal a glance at him; his usual air of danger seems subdued, replaced with an almost relaxed demeanor.
"So, doctor," he breaks the silence, "how's life been treating you?"
"Busy," you reply curtly, not willing to divulge too much (and because “chaotic” and “caffeine-fueled” don’t fit on the medical forms). "And yours?"
"Complicated," he admits with a shrug. "But that's the life I chose."
You nod, understanding the weight behind his words. Probably deals with mob drama and existential crises on a daily basis. Despite the stark differences in your lives, you both navigate high-stress environments filled with their own unique dangers.
As the car approaches your apartment building, Alexei pulls over and turns to you, his expression earnest. "I meant what I said in the hospital. I want to take you out, show you a good time. Just one date."
You sigh, contemplating his request. He’s persistent, you’ll give him that. "I'll think about it," you say finally.
"That's all I ask," he replies, a satisfied smile playing on his lips.
You step out of the car, and Alexei watches as you walk towards your building. Just as you reach the entrance, you turn back to see him still there, waiting. With a small wave, you disappear inside, leaving him with a glimmer of hope.
As you close your apartment door behind you, you can't help but wonder what you’ve gotten yourself into. One thing’s for sure: life just got a lot more interesting. And maybe, just maybe, a little dangerous.
The next morning, as you prepare for another demanding day at the hospital, your mind lingers on Alexei’s unexpected visit. You shake off the thoughts, focusing instead on the tasks ahead. Saving lives and navigating the chaos of the emergency ward leaves little room for distractions. The daily grind of hospital life—the fluorescent lights, the smell of disinfectant, and the constant battle against paperwork. It’s like Grey’s Anatomy meets Office Space. But hey, at least you're not dealing with alien invasions.
However, as the days pass, Alexei’s presence becomes a constant, albeit subtle, thread woven into your routine. An occasional bouquet of flowers arrives at the nurses' station, always unsigned but unmistakably from him. A cup of your favorite coffee appears on your desk during your busiest shifts, the barista's note simply reading "From a grateful patient." His gestures are persistent yet respectful, making it harder to ignore the enigmatic mob boss.
One evening, after a particularly grueling shift, you find yourself at a small, cozy café near the hospital. As you sip your tea, you notice a familiar figure entering the café. Alexei scans the room, his eyes lighting up as they meet yours. He makes his way over, a charming smile on his face.
"May I join you?" he asks, and you nod, gesturing to the empty seat across from you.
"To what do I owe this surprise?" you inquire, your tone light but curious. Translation: Did you follow me here, or is this just a coincidence?
"I was in the neighborhood," he replies, though you suspect he had planned this encounter. Because mob bosses casually stroll through neighborhoods, humming the Godfather theme. "Thought I'd grab a coffee and maybe some good company."
You can't help but chuckle at his relentless charm. "You don't give up, do you?"
"Not when something's worth it," he says, his gaze unwavering.
The conversation flows more easily than you anticipated. You talk about your work, your interests, and he shares glimpses of his life, carefully avoiding the darker aspects. Smart move. You don’t need to know about his rival mob’s cannoli recipe. Despite your reservations, you find yourself enjoying his company.
As the evening progresses, you realize that beneath the dangerous exterior, Alexei is a man who values loyalty, family, and those who make his world a little brighter. His world is complicated, but in this moment, it feels strangely simple.
When it's time to leave, Alexei insists on walking you home, and you let him. The night air is cool, and the streets are quiet. As you reach your apartment building, he pauses, looking at you with a sincerity that catches you off guard.
"Thank you for tonight," he says softly. "I know my life isn't easy to understand, but I hope you'll give me a chance."
Before you could respond, he leaned in, his lips brushing against yours gently. Alexei steps back, a grin on his lips, after pressing another soft kiss to your cheek.
You hesitate for a moment, your heart thudding against your chest, before nodding. "I'll think about it," you say again, this time with sincerity. However, you intend to Google 'how to date mob bosses without dying' the moment you enter your room.
He smiles, a genuine, heartfelt smile, and you feel a warmth spread through you.
As you close your apartment door behind you, you feel a mixture of anticipation and uncertainty. Your life is already filled with enough challenges, yet something about Alexei intrigues you, drawing you in despite the risks.
One thing is certain: your life is changing, and you’re not sure where this path will lead. But for the first time in a long while, you feel a spark of excitement, a sense of adventure that had been missing. And maybe, just maybe, you’re ready to see where it takes you.

Hiii! What have you been up to now that you're done with college? I'm starting my last year in september and already feeling suuper nostalgic
hello! we have an obligatory one year professional internship for clinical practice in pt that we have to look for autonomously so im currently building up my resume and contacting entities that id like to work with (in my case foster care homes and associations that intervene with neurodevelopmental or functional diversity in childhood/adolescence). i loathe the concept of clinical work thats not accessible and i trace my practice towards community so im also trying to contact local orgs that provide therapy work (individual or group) for people who struggle financially and cannot afford it other way.
not really interesting but thats what ive been up 😶. last year of masters in clinical psych for me was especially tiring because we juggle internship w/ thesis (in pt's others master programs normally you either choose to write a thesis or to intern, i dont know if it's the same internationally, but i really struggled combining everything with my part time job) so i didnt get to feel nostalgic. im also preparing my admission to the phd program next year and i never feel like i stray away from academia too long to feel sad about it! i literally have to go back in september because i have an oral communication in an international congress to prepare with my professor and colleagues for october.
besides getting-a-job and academia related stuff, ive been @ the studio making ceramic pieces to sell locally! will post about them when i have the batches done. im also really invested on learning more about linoprinting. im waiting for response to a volunteering opportunity with people who are in the justice system and people who have been released but are alone and need a friend to grab coffee with. ive quit antidepressants (thank you all for your help once again). i havent been reading enough nor doing enough for myself but its a little-by-litte process. burnout fucks you up
i hope you get to enjoy your last year, friend. but also mentally prepare for how lost you feel after finishing a degree because.............. im not gonna even tell you anything. its the blackest hole. on an happier note you can always make learning / teaching your job.. you know 😉

Personal Statement
I started my career as a monitoring and evaluation associate at NICE Indonesia in 2019. We provide a 5-year grant to 12 CSOs in Indonesia to develop their organizations. During those 5 years, we evaluate their performance annually based on the training and financial interventions provided. Some of the organizations I directly supervised include Yayasan Gerak Bareng, Yayasan Munashoroh Indonesia, and Yayasan Gema Insani.
In addition to the annual reviews I conducted, I also took on side jobs to measure the impact of several organizations. My team and I have measured the impact for Schneider Electric Foundation Indonesia, Yayasan Infra Digital Indonesia, Perkumpulan Ibu Pembelajar Bahagia (Lab Belajar Ibu), Komunitas Happiness Family, and wrote impact reports for the SMK Pusat Keunggulan assistance program in 2023 on behalf of the Directorate of Vocational High Schools, Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia. Apart from working in monitoring and evaluation, as a registered nurse in Indonesia, I am also active in several health education initiatives, particularly regarding the impact of the environment on health. My friends and I founded the Emcekaqu Sehat Berdaya Foundation, which campaigns for open defecation-free zones in Pandeglang, Banten. We observed the impact of poor sanitation on children's health, especially given the high stunting rates in the area, and we actively campaign for behavior change to eliminate open defecation. From this work, I had the opportunity to participate in several fellowships related to the environment, such as the Young Water Fellowship in Belgium in 2017, the Young South East Asia Leadership Initiative in Environmental Management in the USA in 2018, and the International One Health Camp in Vietnam in 2019.
Besides my professional life, I experienced a turning point in my personal life when my first daughter died during the delivery process. As a nurse, I know it's not just me but thousands of mothers in Indonesia who have experienced this. Since then, I pledged to contribute to reducing neonatal mortality. I decided to become a breastfeeding counselor, and now I have more than 50 clients, both online and offline.
Pursuing an MPH at the University of Melbourne, I blend my interest in planetary health and maternal and child health. Last semester, I took nutrition policy and politics as my elective because nutrition issues are currently rising in Indonesia, and I wanted a broader perspective beyond health. This semester, I took Planetary Health and Women’s and Global Health as my electives to accommodate my interests. As an Australia Awards Awardee, I know my studies are not just for me but for the greater good of Indonesia.
My grades might not be very good because the first semester of my MPH was the first time I lived abroad with only my family of three. I juggled academic life, being a wife, and being a mother to a 2.5-year-old daughter. Therefore, this semester, I strategized to take courses with shorter durations, so I can better balance my work and life. Thus, being involved in evaluation studies in maternal and child health excites me greatly. Furthermore, 1000 Days Of Fund is one organization I keep an eye on because they address issues holistically, from cadre training to providing growth blankets to parents.
ceritanya bikin personal statement untuk ngelamar jadi research assistant gitu di kampus, hwaa bismillah ya Allah dengan panduan dan pendampinganmu :" laa hawlaa walla quwwata illa billah

I LOST THE ASK IM SORRY ANON BUT HERE
REGINA
favorite thing about them
heheeeeeehoooo i’m a lesbian but honestly she has so much like depth to her in a way that’s not immediately obvious and it’s really interesting as a writer getting to explore that beyond canon
least favorite thing about them
i don’t like that i relate to her!!!! i don’t like the idea of being mean and she is and i’m entirely convinced she and i have the same personality disorder and i am terrified that i’m like her. some people have said it and i just hate that it might be true
but like as a character in and of herself it’s how she uses people for her own gain. that’s not cool boo
favorite line
“boo, you whore” from the movie
“that’s what i keep trying to explain to the president on twitter but he blocked me” from the show
i can’t remember enough of what she says in the new movie rn but i’ll find smth later i’m sure lol
brOTP
damian. she and damian both love taylor swift and they listen to every song together and fangirl together and also damian gets her into musicals. regina likes the dark gritty ones with good music like les mis and little shop and damian likes the classics (obvs)
OTP
post redemption arc i ship her with like every woman in this. like any combo of gretchen and karen, i’m an absolute SUCKER for cadina (like i’m literally on my knees begging for cadina fic prompts please), rejanis is. it has potential not my fav but i do partake from time to time.
but like aaron would just turn out bad nobody really likes shane or kevin and damian. is gay. so none of the men lol
nOTP
this woman is GAY so again any of the guys lol. also if it’s done wrong rejanis can be real icky and i don’t like that
random headcanon
she can juggle. cady is the only one who knows and regina will absolutely kill her if she lets it slip
unpopular opinion
she is a victim who made the wrong choices and not the monster a lot of people make her out to be. she is not the villain of the story she is the villain of her own life by fault of her own mind which is the fault of her upbringing and she is making the only choices she knows how which just so happen to hurt a lot of people. she absolutely can be redeemed and she deserves it. which is why the bus doesn’t just straight up kill her.
song i associate with them
i think i said this for janis but monster from frozen has very much internal regina vibes to me that she like is terrified of letting anyone else see. also i know it’s about something VERY DIFFERENT but all grown up from bare seems like it would really speak to her. and also just all of renee’s songs bc duh
favorite picture of them
it’s a gif and this is how i lost the post last time but uh
Tumblr media
like. holy shit.
DAMIAN
favorite thing about them
i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again but that boy drinks his loving janis sarkisian juice every morning as part of a balanced breakfast. he knows they’re each others person and i think he navigates their admittedly strange relationship really well.
and also i love that this ~17 year old fat openly gay kid has SO MUCH confidence in himself. could he be overcompensating and actually have a lot internally that he doesn’t like about himself? yes absolutely . but the way he chooses to handle himself with such grace and confidence as he navigates such a complex web of social issues is really admirable to me and i don’t think he gets enough credit :))
least favorite thing about them
some of the stereotypes aren’t like super cool but like they had to come from somewhere so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
favorite line
damian is what got me into this show tbh i have so many
but i thiiiiiink it’s gotta be either “and they are more addictive than opioids and girl scout thin mints combined” (also hot take but i’ve been a girl scout for 18 years and thin mints SUCK)
OR
“did she just leave while i was actively caring about her? no. / she’s leaving! just like my DAD.”
honestly just like all of stop all of cautionary tale just him i love him yes
brOTP
besides the obvious answer of janis again i would say regina. but also he and gretchen get coffee at least once a week and bond over dances and choreography and whatnot and he and karen are joined at the hip whenever they’re together and you cannot tell me otherwise. and cady is basically his little sister
OTP
THEATRE BOY FROM THE NEW MOVIE OMGGGGG but also like. i don’t really know lol
i usually write him as being with aaron but that’s bc when i was writing like three months in i asked and all my (four) readers at the time said they wanted damiaaron it was not my first pick. but it has grown on me a lot and i think they’re super cute together
nOTP
i am terrified of the amount of romantic fic out there for him and janis?? like y’all ran face first into the point and hit ur heads so hard u still couldn’t see it huh
random headcanon
he kicked janis’ front teeth out in tap class when they were five and janis still has a small scar on her lip
unpopular opinion
i know i write about it a lot and stuff but making him trans feels really reductive of his personality sometimes. we need more trans rep obviously and i love people being able to take characters like him and feel seen but i question it with him in particular a lot. similar vibes to people who make matilda trans i just dk. lots of complicated feelings about it
also that he is the best goddamn character in the whole thing
song i associate with them
uhhhhhh for whatever reason 9 to 5 by dolly parton?? and jolene are the first two to pop into my head lol idk why
oh and also better work bitch by britney spears (i think??)
favorite picture of them

RP Starter: Project Hallmark
Project Hallmark. It's the cheesy nickname you've given to circumstances that have led to this--December 20-23 at a local hotel.
I step into the lobby and take it all in. I can count on the fingers of one hand, with fingers to spare, how many times I've actually stayed in a hotel in my lifetime. My family wasn't big on travel, and even when we did travel, there'd usually be a family member or friend at the destination willing to let us crash under their roof. Carpet, sheets laid over linoleum or tile, and nests made of winter jackets were what I got used to. It's 'cuz of this upbringing that I see hotels, no matter how grand, as some pinnacle of luxury. Even now, in my late-twenties with enough funds to afford a couple of nights at a hotel, I've never been able to justify blowing half a month's rent on two nights at a hotel.
There's a coffee shop to my left across the lobby and the scents coming from it are divine. My stomach rumbles and I gently rub at it over my felt coat. I debate whether or not to stop for a hot Mocha and maybe some pastry with chocolate in it.
Juggling three jobs has resulted in 'meals' becoming a pipe dream. Odds are, I grab something quick just to keep me on my feet. Most of the time, that's a simple breakfast sandwich--an egg and maybe a piece of bacon shoved into an English muffin or bun about the size of my palm. It's not much, but it's affordable and convenient enough to eat while on-the-go--rushing to catch a bus or while getting my uniform on for the food-job. My current jobs are at a fast-food restaurant (aka food job), a glorified intern around 4 days a week for a community service association (aka 'Office job'), and an unofficial side-gig doing crafting stuff for friends and acquaintances. Due to my hectic schedule and the crafting gig taking every moment not spent at either of my official jobs or in transit we keep missing each other. During the rare hours we're home together, I'm either super concentrated on some craft, or I'm asleep at my sewing machine. The lack of significant couple-time led to you working on Project Hallmark--basically, a romantic get-away. Hotel, good food, and spending intentional time together.
My stomach grumbles, reminding me that the last thing I ate was a fried egg on a piece of bread that I had put together around midnight the night before, having found my growling tummy too uncomfortable to allow me to sleep. It's currently just passed 5PM of the next day and I left the office after a day of giving impromptu presentations and getting projects and planning sorted out and down for approvals in the new year. A fussy sponsor for a project our office is spearheading decided to show up and act like a big shot and I spent 4 hours listening to him shout irrelevant buzz words and basically trying to suggest 15 other initiatives we should have been working on rather than the singular initiative we've been funded for. All in all, a frustrating and annoying day. I got out of the office just in time to make a mad dash for the bus that was fast-approaching, only to receive a text from you telling me to get off in downtown rather than take the bus to the other end of the city to go home.
As hungry as I am, my watch flashing 5:40PM at me makes my decision for me. Room 815 awaits and as divine as coffee and pastry sounds right about now, I'm actually excited for whatever it is you have planned for us.
---
Well then, send me your best responses.

Anyone else struggle with going from a cool beige in the winter to a warm brown in the summer?
Like I get an identity crisis when the seasons change 💀
I mean not only do I need to change the way I dress and apply makeup but also I go from white passing racially ambiguous to very obviously not real MaYoNnAiSe
And idk it’s just a weird way to exist? From white people who know me grabbing me randomly to freak out over how tan I suddenly got and/or asking if it’s real, to the up tick in people wanting to play the “what are you game”
And because of my curls a lot of people make the assumption that I’m part Black or Hispanic/Latinx and that feels weird cause I’m being assigned like complex weighted social identities that I don’t really have anything to do with while never having the ones I actually do be recognized?(I’m Athabaskan, Alaskan native)
I honestly don’t know how to word all the feelings around that or if it’s even worth trying for or if it’s more just internalized issue that I need to work on personally and not worry so much about other peoples perceptions
Which is a bit of an identity crisis in its own way because being able to clearly articulate nuanced ideas in a meaningful way is something I’ve had grafted to my idea of self since I was a child
And I mean struggling with the reverse of this when the sun leaves and my melanin recedes with it is also really hard because instead of being conflate with the wrong minority I start to wonder if I still have one at all
Which is weird because it’s not like I turn ghost white or my hair is turns straight so it’s not like everything disappears but also those aren’t even really things that I associate at all with my native identity at all, in fact the curls are from my Irish side of the family, they’re simply things I know others use to gage my otherness
I guess I just feel I’m constantly trying to juggle having cultures that aren’t mine handed to me and then exchanged for another while never getting to really hold my own, I wanna be so careful because if either I drop or hold anything I’m handed I can easily hurt and offend people
even holding the white culture I’m actually kind of a part of feels not only disingenuous but dangerous
But there is one thing growing up like this has taught me, if all that I am can appear subjective, then why would I ever take anyone’s appraisal of my beauty as written in stone?
If all the pain, love, and knowledge passed from my ancestors to me can be mistaken for blood sweat and tears of another with the passing blase of small talk then how on earth could I take another’s word for what is or isn’t beautiful about me?
You can’t tell me my features aren’t beautiful if you don’t know who’s beauty they were born from

Why Outsourcing is the Smart Move for Cost-Efficient Business Management
Why Outsourcing is the Smart Move   In today’s competitive business landscape, controlling costs while maintaining efficiency is a constant challenge. For many businesses, the traditional approach of hiring full-time employees is no longer the most economical or practical solution. Salaries, benefits, office space, and other overheads can quickly add up, putting a strain on your budget and resources. That’s where outsourcing comes into play—a strategy that allows businesses to access specialized skills without the hefty price tag of full-time hires.   The True Cost of Full-Time Employees   Hiring full-time staff involves more than just paying salaries. There are numerous hidden costs, including: - Benefits and Perks: Healthcare, retirement plans, paid leave, and other benefits significantly increase the cost of full-time employees.   - Training and Development: Continuous training to keep employees up-to-date with industry standards and technologies can be both time-consuming and costly.   - Overheads: Office space, equipment, utilities, and administrative costs add additional layers of expenses.   - Turnover Costs: Recruiting, hiring, and onboarding new employees take time and money, especially when turnover rates are high.   These costs can be a heavy burden, especially for small to medium-sized businesses that need to allocate resources wisely.   The Outsourcing Advantage   Outsourcing offers a flexible, cost-effective alternative by allowing businesses to delegate specific tasks to external experts. Here’s how outsourcing can benefit your business:   - Access to Specialized Skills: Outsourcing gives you access to a vast pool of specialized skills that might be difficult or too expensive to hire in-house. Whether it’s accounting, marketing, IT support, or graphic design, you can find professionals who excel in their fields.   - Cost Reduction: Outsourcing allows you to pay only for the services you need when you need them, eliminating the ongoing costs associated with full-time employees. You can scale up or down based on project requirements without the long-term commitment of a salaried position.   - Focus on Core Business Activities: By outsourcing non-core tasks, your team can focus on what they do best—growing the business. This leads to improved productivity, enhanced focus, and ultimately, better business performance.   - Increased Efficiency and Speed: Outsourcing to experienced professionals can lead to quicker turnaround times and higher-quality outputs. External experts bring industry-specific knowledge and can often complete tasks more efficiently than an internal team juggling multiple responsibilities.   - Flexibility and Scalability: Business needs fluctuate, and outsourcing provides the flexibility to scale operations up or down without the hassle of hiring or laying off staff. This adaptability is particularly valuable in times of market uncertainty or rapid growth.   How to Get Started with Outsourcing   If you’re considering outsourcing as a strategy for your business, here are some steps to get started:   - Identify Tasks to Outsource: Begin by identifying non-core activities that are time-consuming or require specialized skills, such as accounting, social media management, or IT support.   - Find the Right Partners: Research and vet potential outsourcing partners. Look for providers with proven expertise, good reviews, and a clear understanding of your business needs.   - Set Clear Expectations: Define the scope of work, deadlines, and performance metrics. Clear communication and well-defined contracts are essential to a successful outsourcing relationship.   - Monitor and Evaluate: Keep track of the performance of your outsourced tasks. Regularly review the quality of work, cost savings, and the overall impact on your business efficiency.   Conclusion   Outsourcing isn’t just about cutting costs—it’s about optimizing resources and creating a more agile and efficient business model. By leveraging the expertise of external professionals, businesses can reduce overhead, improve focus on core activities, and adapt quickly to changing needs. As the business world evolves, so too should the strategies we use to manage our operations. Outsourcing offers a flexible, scalable, and cost-effective solution that can drive your business forward sustainably.   Have you tried outsourcing in your business? The Rise of E-Learning Training Companies in Dubai: A Spotlight on HNI
In recent years, Dubai has emerged as a global hub for innovation and technology, leading the charge in various sectors, including education. The rapid advancement of digital technologies has transformed traditional learning methods, giving rise to e-learning. This shift has created a significant demand for e-learning training companies in Dubai, and among the leaders in this field is Human Network International (HNI).

How Much Can a Student Earn in Germany Per Month - Maximizing Your Earning As A Student in Germany?
Tumblr media
Studying in Germany offers a wealth of opportunities, but managing finances can be a significant concern for many international students, especially those from Nigeria and other African nations. Understanding potential earnings, job types, and the cost of living is crucial for successful financial planning. This guide provides insights into how much you can earn as a student in Germany, the various job options available, and practical strategies to help you thrive financially while studying.
Earning Limits for Students in Germany
When it comes to earning potential, there are specific regulations that students must adhere to. Knowing these limits can help you navigate your financial landscape more effectively. Tax-Free Allowance As of January 2024, the tax-free income limit for students in Germany is set at €522.50 per month. This amount represents the threshold below which students are not required to pay income tax. If your earnings exceed this limit, you will need to pay taxes on the excess income. This tax-free allowance is particularly important for students who may be juggling part-time work alongside their studies. Understanding this threshold helps students plan their work schedules effectively. For instance, if you’re aiming for a part-time job, knowing the limits can assist you in calculating how many hours you should work to remain within this allowance. Minimum Wage Regulations Germany’s minimum wage was recently increased to approximately €13.50 per hour as of January 2024. This increase reflects the country's commitment to ensuring that workers receive fair compensation for their labor. For students working part-time—up to 20 hours per week during the semester—this translates to a potential monthly income of around €540. However, because this amount exceeds the tax-free limit, students must be mindful of their total earnings throughout the year to avoid unexpected tax obligations. Earning Limits for EU vs. Non-EU Students Understanding the different regulations governing EU and non-EU students is crucial: - EU Students: Generally face fewer restrictions regarding work hours. They can work part-time alongside their studies without the same limitations placed on non-EU students, making it easier for them to secure job opportunities in Germany. - Non-EU Students: These students must adhere to stricter regulations, typically limited to working 120 full days or 240 half days per year. This restriction can impact their ability to earn sufficient funds to cover living expenses, emphasizing the need for careful planning.
Types of Jobs Available for Students
Finding the right job is essential for balancing academic responsibilities with financial needs. Here’s an overview of common job types available to students in Germany: On-Campus Jobs On-campus positions are often ideal for students, as they typically offer flexible hours and a supportive environment. Common roles include: - Research Assistant: Students can work closely with faculty members on academic projects, which not only provides income but also enriches their educational experience. - Library Assistant: Assisting in managing library resources and helping fellow students can also be a great way to earn while studying. These roles allow students to stay engaged in their academic pursuits while earning money, often with minimal impact on their study schedule. Retail and Hospitality The retail and hospitality sectors are among the largest employers of students. Common job options include: - Waitstaff: Many restaurants hire students for part-time work, which can lead to flexible schedules. Tips can significantly increase overall earnings. - Sales Associate: Retail positions often allow students to work varied hours, making it easier to juggle work and study commitments. These jobs also provide valuable customer service experience and help students improve their German language skills. Tutoring and Freelancing If you possess skills in specific subjects, tutoring can be both a rewarding and lucrative option. Common subjects for tutoring include: - Languages: If you’re fluent in English or another language, consider offering tutoring services to local students. - Math and Science: Providing assistance in subjects like mathematics or physics can attract students seeking help. Freelancing opportunities in areas such as graphic design, writing, or programming are also excellent choices. These roles offer the flexibility to work remotely and manage your schedule effectively. Internships Internships play a crucial role in career development and often provide paid opportunities. Students can benefit from: - Professional Experience: Gaining relevant industry experience enhances employability after graduation. - Networking: Internships allow students to build connections that could lead to future job opportunities. Utilizing university career services can help students find internships aligned with their career goals, making this a valuable option. Delivery and Gig Economy Jobs With the rise of the gig economy, students can find flexible job opportunities through platforms like Uber Eats, Lieferando, and others. These jobs often allow for: - Flexible Hours: Students can choose when they want to work, making it easier to fit into their study schedule. - Earnings Potential: Many delivery jobs offer decent pay, especially during peak hours or busy weekends. Such roles provide an avenue for students to earn extra income without the constraints of traditional job hours.
Requirements to Work as a Student
To work in Germany as an international student, certain requirements must be met: Visa Requirements Your student visa must explicitly permit you to work in Germany. It’s important to familiarize yourself with the terms of your visa, as they can vary based on nationality and the type of visa issued. Ensure you comply with all conditions to avoid complications. Enrollment Confirmation Most employers will request proof of enrollment at a German university before hiring you. This document serves as verification that you are a student, which is often required for obtaining a work permit. Health Insurance Having valid health insurance is mandatory for all students in Germany. This requirement ensures that students have access to healthcare and are covered in case of emergencies. There are various options for health insurance, including public and private plans, and it's essential to select one that meets the local requirements.
Cost of Living for Students
Managing living expenses effectively is key to ensuring financial stability while studying. Here’s a breakdown of the typical costs students might incur: Rent Rent varies greatly depending on the city: - Major Cities: In cities like Munich and Frankfurt, rent can range from €400 to €800 for shared apartments or student housing. - Smaller Towns: In less populated areas, rent might be more manageable, averaging between €250 and €500. Finding affordable housing is essential for budget-conscious students. Websites like WG-Gesucht and local university boards can help find suitable accommodations. Food Food expenses can significantly impact a student’s budget. On average, students might spend €200 to €300 per month on groceries. Cooking at home is a cost-effective strategy compared to dining out. Students should consider: - Meal Planning: Preparing meals in advance can help save money and reduce waste. - Shopping Smart: Buying in bulk and taking advantage of student discounts can lead to savings. Transportation Public transport is generally reliable and efficient in Germany. Monthly transportation costs can range from €70 to €100, depending on the city and frequency of use. Many cities offer discounted student passes that can help reduce these costs. Walking or cycling can also be viable alternatives in urban areas. Leisure Activities It’s important to budget for leisure and social activities, which are essential for a balanced student life. Allocating €50 to €100 monthly for outings, entertainment, and travel can enhance the overall experience. Exploring free or low-cost activities, such as university events or local festivals, can also be a great way to socialize without breaking the bank.
Strategies to Maximize Earnings
To make the most of your earning potential, consider the following strategies: Networking Tips Building a network can significantly enhance your job search. Here are some effective ways to network: - University Events: Attend career fairs, workshops, and social events organized by your university to meet potential employers. - Student Organizations: Joining clubs related to your field of study can connect you with peers and industry professionals. Utilize University Resources Most universities have dedicated career services that can help you find part-time work or internships. They often host job fairs and provide resume-building workshops. Take advantage of these resources to enhance your employability. Finding Flexible Jobs Seek out positions that offer flexible working hours. Jobs in tutoring, freelancing, and certain on-campus roles often provide the adaptability needed to balance studies and work.
Tax Management and Financial Literacy
Understanding Germany's tax system is essential for managing your earnings effectively. Here are some tips: - Track Your Earnings: Keep detailed records of your income and expenses to prepare for tax season. - Consult Financial Advisors: Many universities offer free financial advice services to students. Utilize these resources to understand your obligations and manage your finances better.

Case Study 1: Aisha from Nigeria Aisha is a master’s student from Nigeria who successfully balances her studies and part-time work. She secured a job as a research assistant, working about 10 hours per week at a rate of €15 per hour. This allows her to earn approximately €600 monthly. By strategically managing her schedule and prioritizing her studies, Aisha covers her rent and living expenses while gaining valuable experience in her field. Case Study 2: Daniel from Kenya Daniel, an undergraduate student, works in a local café. He averages 15 hours of work per week at €12 per hour, bringing his monthly earnings to around €720. By budgeting carefully and cooking meals at home, Daniel effectively manages his expenses and even saves a little each month for leisure activities, enhancing his overall student experience. Case Study 3: Fatima from Morocco Fatima, a language student from Morocco, found success as a private tutor, focusing on teaching English to local high school students. She charges €20 per hour and typically conducts about 8 tutoring sessions per month, earning around €160. In addition to her tutoring, she works part-time in a retail store for another €300 monthly. This combined income of €460 allows Fatima to cover her living expenses while having enough left over for social activities and saving for trips around Europe.
Tips for Balancing Work and Studies
Successfully managing both work and academic responsibilities requires effective time management and prioritization. Here are some practical tips: Create a Weekly Schedule Establish a weekly planner to outline your classes, study time, and work hours. This will help ensure that you allocate sufficient time for both academic obligations and your job. Use tools like Google Calendar or physical planners to visualize your commitments. Set Realistic Goals Set achievable goals for both your studies and work. For instance, if you aim to study for a specific number of hours each week, ensure your work schedule allows you to meet these study goals without overwhelming yourself. Prioritize Self-Care Maintaining a healthy balance is crucial. Make time for self-care activities such as exercise, relaxation, and socializing with friends. This balance will help prevent burnout and keep you motivated in both your studies and work.
Understanding Your Rights as a Student Worker
As an international student working in Germany, it’s essential to know your rights. Familiarizing yourself with labor laws can help you ensure fair treatment and safeguard your well-being. Labor Rights Under German law, student workers have rights that protect them from unfair treatment. Knowing your rights in this area is vital for ensuring your safety and well-being.
Navigating Challenges as an International Student
While working and studying in Germany can be rewarding, there are challenges to navigate: Language Barrier For many international students, language can be a significant hurdle. While many Germans speak English, especially in urban areas, fluency in German is often preferred by employers. To overcome this challenge, consider: - Language Courses: Enroll in language classes offered by your university or local community centers to improve your German skills. - Practice with Locals: Engage in conversation with German-speaking friends or participate in language exchange programs to enhance your fluency. Cultural Differences Adjusting to a new culture can also present challenges. To ease this transition: - Participate in Orientation Programs: Many universities offer orientation programs that help international students acclimate to life in Germany. - Join Student Groups: Connect with other international students who share similar experiences. This can provide a support network and make it easier to navigate cultural differences.

Finding the Right Fitness Trainer in Sligo Your Path to a Healthier You
Tumblr media
When it comes to achieving your fitness goals, having the right guidance can make all the difference. Whether you're just beginning your fitness journey or you're an experienced gym-goer looking to refine your routine, the support of a qualified fitness trainer can be invaluable. For those in Sligo, a town known for its stunning landscapes and vibrant community, there’s no shortage of fitness trainers eager to help you meet your health goals. But how do you find the right personal trainer in Sligo? This comprehensive guide will help you understand the benefits of hiring a fitness trainer and provide tips for selecting the best one for your needs.
Why Hire a Fitness Trainer?
Personalized Workout Plans
One of the primary advantages of hiring a fitness trainer is the personalized attention you receive. Every individual has different fitness goals, physical capabilities, and preferences. A fitness trainer will assess your current fitness level, discuss your objectives, and create a customized workout plan tailored to your needs. Whether you're aiming to lose weight, build muscle, or increase flexibility, your trainer will design a regimen that maximizes your results.
Proper Technique and Form
Executing exercises with proper form is crucial to preventing injuries and ensuring that you're getting the most out of your workout. A fitness trainer in Sligo will provide hands-on guidance, ensuring that you're performing each exercise correctly. This is particularly important if you're new to fitness or if you're trying out a new exercise that you're unfamiliar with. With a trainer by your side, you can focus on your workout knowing that you're in good hands.
Motivation and Accountability
Staying motivated can be one of the biggest challenges when it comes to maintaining a consistent fitness routine. A fitness trainer acts as both a motivator and an accountability partner. They will push you to reach your full potential, providing encouragement and support along the way. Moreover, the commitment to regular sessions with your trainer helps you stay on track, making it less likely that you'll skip workouts or lose sight of your goals.
Efficient and Effective Workouts
Time is often a limiting factor in our busy lives, and it's essential to make the most of the time you have for exercise. A fitness trainer will optimize your workout sessions, focusing on exercises that deliver the best results in the shortest amount of time. This efficiency is particularly beneficial if you're juggling a tight schedule but still want to see progress in your fitness journey.
Nutritional Guidance
Many fitness trainers in Sligo offer nutritional advice as part of their services. Proper nutrition is a key component of any fitness plan, and having guidance on what to eat can significantly enhance your results. A trainer can help you understand the balance of macronutrients (proteins, fats, and carbohydrates) you need, advise on portion control, and suggest meal plans that complement your fitness goals.
What to Look for in a Fitness Trainer in Sligo
Qualifications and Certifications
The first thing you should check when looking for a fitness trainer in Sligo is their qualifications. A qualified trainer will have certifications from recognized fitness organizations such as the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), the International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA), or the European Institute of Fitness (EIF). These certifications indicate that the trainer has received formal education and training in fitness and exercise science.
Experience
While certifications are essential, experience is equally important. An experienced trainer is likely to have worked with a variety of clients, each with different fitness levels and goals. This experience allows them to adapt their training methods to suit individual needs more effectively. When considering a trainer, ask about their experience, particularly if you have specific goals such as training for a marathon, recovering from an injury, or bodybuilding.
Specializations
Some trainers specialize in particular areas of fitness, such as weight loss, strength training, yoga, or rehabilitation. If you have a specific goal in mind, finding a trainer with a specialization that aligns with your objectives can be incredibly beneficial. For example, if you're interested in improving your flexibility and balance, a trainer with a background in yoga or Pilates might be the best fit for you.
Client Testimonials and Reviews
One of the best ways to gauge the effectiveness of a fitness trainer is to look at what their past and current clients have to say. Testimonials and online reviews can provide insight into the trainer’s approach, professionalism, and ability to help clients achieve their goals. Don't hesitate to ask a trainer for references or check online platforms like Google, Facebook, or local directories for reviews.
Personality and Communication Style
Your fitness trainer should be someone you feel comfortable with and who communicates effectively. During your initial consultation, pay attention to how the trainer interacts with you. Are they attentive and responsive to your questions? Do they explain things clearly? It's important to choose a trainer whose personality and communication style match yours, as this will make your training sessions more enjoyable and productive.
Availability and Flexibility
Consider your schedule and how it aligns with the trainer’s availability. Some trainers in Sligo may have packed schedules, making it difficult to find a time that works for both of you. Additionally, consider whether the trainer is flexible with session timings and cancellations, as life can sometimes throw unexpected changes your way.
Cost and Value
The cost of hiring a fitness trainer can vary widely depending on their experience, specialization, and the length of the sessions. While it's important to find a trainer within your budget, don't make cost the sole determining factor. Consider the value you're getting – a slightly more expensive trainer with a wealth of experience and a proven track record may be worth the investment if it means achieving your fitness goals more efficiently.
Where to Find a Fitness Trainer in Sligo
Local Gyms and Fitness Centers
Many gyms in Sligo have in-house trainers who offer personal training sessions. Visiting local gyms can be a great way to meet potential trainers, see them in action, and discuss your goals face-to-face. Some of the well-known gyms in Sligo include Sligo Fitness, Arena 7, and StudioFit Sligo. These gyms often offer packages that include both gym access and personal training sessions.
Online Platforms and Social Media
In today’s digital age, many fitness trainers have a strong online presence. Platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn are excellent places to discover local trainers, see their work, and even read client testimonials. Additionally, websites like Thumbtack, Bark, or Fitternity allow you to search for trainers in Sligo, read reviews, and contact them directly.
Referrals
Word of mouth is still one of the most reliable ways to find a great fitness trainer. Ask friends, family, or colleagues in Sligo if they know of any trainers they would recommend. Referrals are often based on personal experience, which can give you a more honest and direct insight into what you can expect.
Community Boards and Local Events
Sligo is known for its tight-knit community and active lifestyle. Community boards in local cafes, community centers, or even health food stores often have advertisements or business cards from local fitness trainers. Additionally, attending local fitness events, classes, or workshops can be an excellent way to meet trainers and get a feel for their style and expertise.
Maximizing Your Experience with a Fitness Trainer
Set Clear Goals
Before you begin working with a fitness trainer, take the time to clearly define your goals. Are you looking to lose weight, build muscle, improve cardiovascular health, or simply stay active? Clear goals will help your trainer design an effective plan and track your progress.
Communicate Openly
Communication is key to a successful relationship with your fitness trainer. Be open about your preferences, any injuries or health issues, and your level of comfort with various exercises. The more your trainer knows about you, the better they can tailor your workouts to your needs.
Be Consistent
Consistency is crucial when it comes to fitness. Make a commitment to attend all scheduled sessions and follow through with any homework or additional exercises your trainer assigns. Remember, progress takes time, and staying consistent will yield the best results.
Track Your Progress
Work with your trainer to set milestones and regularly assess your progress. Tracking improvements in strength, endurance, flexibility, or body composition can be incredibly motivating and help you stay focused on your goals.
Stay Open to Feedback
Your trainer’s feedback is invaluable for your growth. Be open to their suggestions, whether it’s tweaking your form, trying new exercises, or adjusting your diet. Remember, your trainer's goal is to help you succeed.
Enjoy the Journey
Fitness is as much about the journey as it is about the destination. Celebrate your achievements, no matter how small, and enjoy the process of becoming stronger, healthier, and more confident.
Conclusion
Hiring a Personal trainer in Sligo can be a game-changer in your pursuit of health and fitness. With personalized workout plans, expert guidance, and unwavering support, a fitness trainer can help you reach your goals more effectively and efficiently. By considering factors such as qualifications, experience, and personality, you can find the right trainer who will motivate you, hold you accountable, and help you enjoy the process. Whether you find your trainer at a local gym, through online platforms, or via word of mouth, investing in professional guidance is an investment in your health and well-being. So, take the first step, find your fitness trainer in Sligo, and embark on a journey to a healthier, happier you.

Underpaid, Overworked, But Not Out of Options: Bengaluru Techies Explore New IT Hubs Amid Proposed 14-Hour Workday
In the bustling tech landscape of Bengaluru, a looming proposal to extend daily office hours to 14 hours has sparked significant concern among IT professionals. As the Karnataka government considers amending the Karnataka Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1961, tech workers are evaluating their options amidst the possibility of a drastic increase in work hours.
Tumblr media
A Day in the Life
For many tech employees, the proposed changes could disrupt an already challenging work-life balance. “I wake up at 6 am, manage household chores, and leave for work around 8:30 am to avoid Bengaluru’s notorious traffic. After a 9-10 hour workday, I return home to exercise, have dinner, and unwind,” shares one employee. “If the new proposal goes through, working 70 hours a week would leave me with little time for daily responsibilities and personal space.”
Proposed Legislation
The Karnataka government’s proposal aims to extend work hours for IT and IT-enabled services (ITES) employees to 14 hours per day, with a cap of 125 hours over three months. This potential change has stirred unease among workers and stakeholders, raising fears about the impact on their health and personal lives.
Dhruv Rohira, a recent BITS Pilani graduate, points out the difference between voluntary overtime and mandatory extended hours. “Working extra hours occasionally is different from being compelled to work 14-hour days,” he says. The proposal is seen as a potential strain on employees already facing unofficial after-hours work from home.
The Personal Toll
Employees like Neelam Acharya, who juggles work with childcare, are particularly worried. “With a toddler at home, an increase in work hours would force me to either quit my job or find additional help, which raises concerns about safety and trust,” she explains. Mental health professionals also warn of the risks associated with longer workdays, including increased stress, burnout, and deterioration in physical and mental health.
Dr. Kriti Vyas, a consultant counseling psychologist, underscores the importance of maintaining a healthy work-life balance. “Extended work hours can exacerbate physical and mental health issues, leading to burnout and affecting overall well-being,” she says. Dr. Vyas advocates for reduced working days and regular mental health check-ups as countermeasures.
Global Perspectives
Comparatively, working hours vary significantly across the globe. While countries like the UAE, Gambia, and Bhutan have high legal working hours, developed nations such as the UK and the US impose limits to protect workers. In the UK, the maximum average weekly working hours are capped at 48, while in the US, the Fair Labor Standards Act mandates overtime pay for work exceeding 40 hours per week.
Shifting IT Hubs
Amidst these concerns, Bengaluru may face competition as a leading IT hub. Cities like Hyderabad, Pune, and Gurugram are emerging as viable alternatives. “Ahmedabad is also becoming an IT center, offering more options for tech professionals,” notes Dhruv.
Sanya Keshari, who recently completed an internship in Bengaluru, reflects on the mixed experiences of living in the city. “While some locals are welcoming, others exhibit hostility towards non-Kannadigas, which can be disheartening,” she says.
Looking Abroad
The proposal has also prompted some tech professionals to consider opportunities abroad. A 28-year-old from Kolkata now views international job prospects as more attractive, given the potential for better work conditions and recognition. “If the proposal passes, it might be more beneficial to seek opportunities abroad rather than endure extended hours and limited personal time in India,” she adds.
Conclusion
As Bengaluru grapples with the prospect of longer workdays, tech professionals are exploring their options, from relocating to emerging IT hubs within India to seeking opportunities overseas. The proposed changes highlight ongoing debates about work-life balance and the need for sustainable working conditions in the tech industry.
