Vinyl
Since I have a Mac displaying my work, I have a space above the Mac that looks a bit bare.
I thought that a nice display of some of the shapes used in the animation could be a good chance to use vinyl because it’s something that I haven't used that much in the past.
So I made a display of all of the shapes using a stroke instead of a fill because even though they would be harder to execute, they would all be consistent as well as the fact that some of them really didn't suit of fill.
I’ll probably just have them in the order that I have here rather than doing them all separately. The lines are all quite thin but they should look good in a black vinyl.

above is the piece that I created. painting this piece was really difficult, because I’m the model in the image I wasn’t comfortable with it. removing my tattoos and hair colour I found that I saw myself less. I felt that I had to paint myself for the show because through this project I’ve been looking at body positivity and accepting how you look and it didn’t make sense that I’m trying to convince people to be happy with themselves if I’m not. I’m still uncomfortable with this piece however I don’t regret painting it.

The wall space for our interim show for Exodus, all measurements taken. All we need now is art to go on the walls. The only problem with this space is that all work needs to be 2D which can limit us a bit as we may need to make some work specifically for this. As some of my work has been mixed media or 3D fabric sculpture we don't want to risk any potential of work being broken or effecting out health and safety/risk assessment

Whole wall design mock up to see exactly where things will be within the space Ive been allocated. Also to see which text sizes work best for a title above the piece.

I took some pictures of my stand at the Grays’s Interim Show.
It was great to see all of the work that I had been doing on this project finally displayed.
It’s great making all of the separate parts that would lead to this display, but there is something so rewarding about seeing all of these put together in a show such as this.
This was the first time that I had used the desktop background that I designed. I was pleased with how it looked on a mac, because before this, I was just imagining how it would look. Then it was the cherry on the cake when the animation was perfectly placed onto the background. It was just as I imagined it in my head as the aim was to have the animation smoothly running as if it was part of the background.
Sometimes your image of what the final product might look like can be slightly different to the final outcome. However, I was really pleased with the final outcome. With the vinyl of the shapes also turning out well, I would say that overall I am pleased with my display for the Interim Show

INTERIM SHOW: STARTING POINT
Yesterday, I met with the peers on my course who will be curating my work for the Interim Show. I have been contemplating how I wanted to present my work, evidence of this can be found in my sketchbook and there are sketches in my studio space. I have been placed in the separate room that comes off of PS1. The curators (Laura, Sam and Kinga) have decided that I, along with 2 other students, would work really well as a bit of a collaborative installation. All of our work is fairly similar in the way that it can be turned into an installation of a living room installation (My photo album, a video piece on a TV monitor and possibly a video piece on a projector).
I am perfectly happy with the idea and it fits in so perfectly well with the presentation ideas I already had. I have been asked to consider subtly allowing Brandon’s work influence mine. Brandon is doing a video piece based around men wearing “women’s” clothes and vice versa. At this point, my photo album is merely exploring the notion of forgotten photographs but I could add a lot more context by subtly including KEY DATES of injustices against the LGBT community that were in the same timeframe as my found photographs (1950s - 1980s) - particularly events involving transgender individuals.
I thought this was a brilliant idea, particularly as I am a queer individual and have often researched around the subject area of gender equality and sexuality! I’m also going to see if I can make any extra pieces to put into the exhibition to tie it all together (i.e. a list of names of LGBT individuals involved in hate crimes) maybe in the form of something that may have been found in a traditional home. A telephone book, maybe? However, I don’t want to get too ambitious!
I am feeling REALLY excited about this and it is brilliant that I’ve received such useful feedback and ideas as a result of this group critique.
