STARTER FOR: @blessmylight LOCATION: A local grocery store. SETTING: Afternoon.
Oliver Stone was the only person on the planet who would cut their hand on a jar of pickles. He had dropped the damn thing, earning a shard of glass to come flying back at his hand. He yelped so loud you could hear it from a couple aisles away.Thankfully, someone’s come to his rescue. “Jesus, fuck, ow!” He spews out again, eyes narrowing. “Are you really a paramedic or are you lying? ‘Cause that’d be messed up and I’m married.” A part of him is joking, of course, which is something he did when he was in a state of panic. He hisses again, face scrunching from the pain. “Oh, God, it smells like pickles and blood. Gross. This is the worst, this is the worst.” Rough laughter escapes him, “Do you think a vampire would enjoy this? I think so.”

He was fucking furious with May but he decided that she was someone he would deal with at a later time because he had bigger problems now. Like the fact that he had still not been ready to talk to Gabrielle about her being his sister, but now she knew. When he was ready he wanted to ease her into knowing about her father but May had fucked it all up for him. He knew he had to fix it as quickly as he could though and so he went to Gabrielle’s house, knocking at her door and taking a deep breath as he waited for her to open up. @andthereweresparks

Projects that will shape the future of robotics win the euRobotics Awards 2018
http://bit.ly/2G8eiN1
The European Robotics Forum 2018 (ERF2018) in Tampere brought together over 900 attendees from robotics academia and industry. To bridge the two, euRobotics hosted the Georges Giralt PhD Award 2017 & 2018 and the TechTransfer Award 2018, during a Gala Dinner event on 14 March, in Tampere, Finland.
The aim of the euRobotics Technology Transfer Award (now in its 15th year) is to showcase the impact of robotics research and to raise the profile of technology transfer between science and industry. Outstanding innovations in robot technology and automation that result from cooperative efforts between research and industry are eligible for the prize.
The First prize went to Germany’s Roboception: rc_visard – 3D perception & manipulation for robots made easy team, composed of Michael Suppa, and Heiko Hirschmueller from Roboception GmbH, and Alin Albu-Schaeffer from the Institute of Robotics and German Aerospace Center (DLR).
“This award is a recognition of our institute’s continued efforts of supporting the go-to-market of technologies developed at our institute or – as in this case – derived thereof,” said Prof. Albu-Schaeffer. Dr. Suppa added that “since spinning Roboception off the DLR in 2015, a significant amount of thought, hard work and – first and foremost – unfailing commitment of our team have gone into bringing this technology from a research state to a market-ready product. And we are very proud to see these efforts recognized by the jury, and rewarded with this prestigious award.” The rc_visard is already in operational use in a number of customer projects across a variety of robotic domains. Prof. Albu-Schaeffer, an enthused rc_visard user at his DLR Institute himself, is convinced that “this product is one that will shape the future of robotics, thanks to its unique versatility.”
Watch the an interview with rc_visard filmed at Hannover Messe
The Second prize went to Germany, to the project Mobile Agricultural Robot Swarms (MARS), created by a team made up of Timo Blender and Christian Schlegel, from Hochschule Ulm, and Benno Pichlmaier from AGCO GmbH. The MARS experiment aims at the development of small and stream-lined mobile agricultural robot units to fuel a paradigm shift in farming practices.
The Third prize went to Smart Robots from Italy, a team made up of Paolo Rocco and Andrea Maria Zanchettin, from Politecnico di Milano, and Roberto Rossi, from Smart Robots s.r.l., Italy. Smart robots provides advanced perception and intelligent capabilities to robots, enabling new disruptive forms of collaboration with human beings.
The Finalist was the In situ Fabricator (IF), an autonomous construction robot from Switzerland, with a team made up of Kathrin Dörfler from Gramazio Kohler Research, ETH Zurich, NCCR Digital Fabrication, Markus Giftthaler and Timothy Sandy from Agile & Dexterous Robotics Lab, ETH Zurich, NCCR Digital Fabrication.

He had told her not to come to see him but she did anyway. Not that Stefan expected anything else from her. He had seriously considered getting away from his house just to avoid her but the truth of the matter was that she would find him and he didn’t see a point in delaying what was clearly inevitable considering all his friends have apparently decided he was incapable of doing anything right anymore. When he heard the doorbell he took a deep breath and opened the door. “Do we have to do this?” @qvietwhispers

It was a fair few minutes after Stefan got to his apartment and it was after a lot of thought that he texted Nessa. Not asking her to come to him, just letting her know that he was there. But he knew her too well and he knew she’ll be there to see him. He heard the bedroom door open not soon after, a soft sigh leaving his lips even as his eyes fell on her. He silently waited for her to get under the sheets with him, before he turned to his side. His hands wrapped around her pulling her close, and his lips pressed to hers. “Hey.” he murmured, his forehead resting against hers. “Did I upset you earlier?” @wcrstorm

The drink he lifted to his lips and took a sip of wasn’t his first for the night but Stefan had no intention of slowing down. Dom would take care of his daughter for the night, and since facebook had this weird way of stuffing memories of the past at his face when all he wanted to do was forget them, here he was, drinking the night away. Served him right for still having that app on his phone in the first place. The smiling pictures of his wife and the reminder that she was dead helped nothing. A sigh left his lips as he called for a refill just as someone took the seat next to him. It was the weekend and he was bound to run into some familiar faces -- and as much as he told himself he wanted to be alone, he would have stayed at home drinking if he hadn’t craves some company to distract him from his own thoughts that night.

It was late when he made it to Luv’s place. On a normal day he wouldn’t be bothering anyone this late but that day had been anything but normal. Ever since he met with May that morning everything had collapsed for him and he wished he could fix it. This was not how he had wanted his sister to find out about him and their father. He had fucked up badly and when Luv guessed over text that he wasn’t doing so well, he decided to stop by so he could talk to her considering he even knew the girl. “Sorry for stopping by now.” he murmured, as the door opened and his eyes fell on her. “Are the kids asleep?” @andthereweresparks

Since the last he had seen his cousin, Stefan was worried about her to say the least. And so after texting Lily and it seemed like she was happy to have both him and Flo over, (Flo more than him, but that was beside the point,) he went to the store with his daughter to get what was needed to make tacos and pick up the marshmallows Lily asked for along with it. He was soon at her place, a smile on his lips when she opened the door. “Well, Flo here got chocolates to last a year along with your marshmallows.” she informed her before Flo giggled. “But this one if for you, Tía.” said the little girl and handed her one of the many bars of chocolate much to Stefan’s amusement. @andthereweresparks

If his grandfather had been in, he probably would not have bothered about the young girl who stood afar from the horses staring in awe but after seeing her there for a while, and with it seeming like she really had no reason to be there Stefan couldn't help but walk over to her with a brow raised questioningly. “May I help you with something?” he said in his fake polite tone, he was more annoyed than anything. There was a reason he helped his grandfather with his finance and not with dealing with the people who came by to the stables. “Are you here to sign up for riding lessons? We have a couple of open slots.” he added in an attempt to not sound all too unwelcoming. @andthereweresparks

Literally everything seemed to be falling apart in the last couple of days. Stefan hadn’t felt this helpless in a long time and it felt like every step he took, he was making matters worse. Having had argued with Iva before, he didn’t think going to her was a good idea but he needed to go somewhere so as the dark thoughts from the day before didn’t come back and he had taken up enough of Celia time. “Sorry.” he said when the door opened and his eyes fell on her. “Can I just -- stay for a little while?” @qvietwhispers

It felt like hours were passing by with Stefan simply seated in the driver’s seat of his car staring at his phone when in reality, every second ticking felt like an eternity to him. He had been on phone with Ade till a few minutes ago having disconnected the call only after he had somewhat calmed down from his panic attack, and right now he was sending voice messages to people who were texting him because his hands were shaking too much to type coherently. He had fucked up, badly this time, and with something that could not be easily fixed. There were literally the lives of Luv’s kids on the line and the part of him which always knew to do the right thing, knew to solve problems seemed to have come to a halt and Stefan was simply blanking, feeling completely useless. It wasn't till the door of his car’s passenger side opened did he finally turn his gaze away from his phone, watching Celia get inside. “She lost her kids, they took Luv’s kids away and it’s all my fucking fault.” he told the other, his voice hoarse and tears threatening to fall from his eyes. @qvietwhispers

In all honesty, this was not a conversation he thought he would have on the phone or wished to. So when he had clearly already upset her by saying too much, despite having weighed every word before he said, Stefan checked on Flo and Val, let Dom know he was going out and went straight to his cousin’s place. Perhaps he should have warned her he was coming but something told him she would refuse and he knew that as much as she seemed to push everyone away, she was also in desperate need of people by her side. He texted her just as he got to her place and knocked, waiting for her to open up. @andthereweresparks

It was clear from her texts that Ivanna was a bit of a mess. Which he couldn’t blame her for considering she had come to town for a fresh start and yet his ex was somehow in here as well. He went back to the Inn and knocked at her door, a smile was on his lips as the other opened. It seemed like this little room at the Inn was quickly becoming home to Stefan. “Clearly you were very, very drunk last night so I brought you this. A lovely home cooked breakfast.” he said and placed it on the coffee table. “How are you feeling?” @qvietwhispers
