The thing about Lucinda that really rankles me and i hadn't realized until several replays of the confrontation between the Albright family was that Lucinda never once referred Malcolm by name, or used any pronouns with him at all.

It's always "my child" this, "my child" that, never just her /son/, always carefully avoiding the identity that he chose for himself and not the one she had wanted for him. Like we, the audience, was sussing her out from the start no matter how much she acts like she's changed now that she's back from the dead, but it really feels like. Idk, an actual pointer that she's not changed in the least if she can't even use the pronouns Malcolm uses for himself.

No she does not. I did that one on purpose. It somehow felt even more insulting. Because it is clear that Lucinda is not even slipping up and misgendering her son due to a lifetime of speaking of him another way. She knows what she is doing. And instead of referring to him as 'him' she has chosen her own name for him.

It is a very good pointer to how her character is.

Another late night where in we can't sleep for one reason or another, and I have to help convince a certain hare of an item that will aid us in the future. Simply put, until we can correct this mortal coil with the substance known as Estrodial and Progesterone, we need to constrict sugar intake in order to not cayse our body to retalliate via acne as this lowers the mood of our host. We generally could seek better health through the usage of less processed foods, but that will be a longer-term goal as we move from Rowan's own obsession with baking at the moment. For now, I will do my best to keep us from spiraling into worse health than this body is predisposed too, and I hope this tumblr post will help others (Rowan and Sylvia specifically) keep this in mind:

Whenever we seek a sense of sweetness, instead go for a few pieces of dried fruit as well as possibly drinking one of our teas, but I advise with the preoackaged teas that we limit them to once a day. They may be healthier than Soda or one of the worse snacks in our repertoire, but it still uses a higher sugar content than simply brewing one of our black teas and adding honey and lemon if its too bitter. I also suggest acquiring more fruits we can dry, perhaps using the aforementioned lemons will give us more benefit than the store bought dried fruit. However, we should research that more prior to its affirmation.

Lucy kept themselves busy with inventory, perusing and checking the shelves all in an attempt to avoid have any interaction with Kenna. Was it childish? Probably. But it wasn't as if confrontation was their strong suit, nor was having to deal with unwanted and negative feelings (at least not without something to dull her senses - a habit they wouldn't fall back into). Letting out a sigh, their brow furrowed as they encountered an error in the bookstore's system. Tapping at the tablet in her hands, Lucy swallowed a curse as nothing changed on the screen. Knowing they'd need to ask someone about it, slowly they headed out of the aisle they were in to look for one someone. As long as I don't bump into--

It seemed like a cosmic joke when they nearly slam into Kenna. Pressing their lips together in a tight line, Lucy tried to force a polite smile onto their face. "Kenna. Sorry. About, uh, almost crashing into you. The stupid tablet's broken or something again... Was going to try and find someone to fix it."

Re: lucinda's opinions on people :Evan? Also possible if she saw regulus panicking at the table when they were talking about smith and macmillan and what she thinks about that? I doubt he's very stealthy.

lucinda thinks (correctly) that evan deliberately pisses charlotte off and then acts 🥺 about it so he doesn't get called out, but also she's not going near their dynamic with a ten foot pole, both of them are reasonably polite to other people so lucinda's decided to use that as her measurement of character ajfkshgkjdksf

they are friends though - not CLOSE friends, but if left in a room alone together, they'd have a conversation of their own free will. probably about quidditch and/or other people's interpersonal drama

regulus isn't UN-stealthy - he definitely chose the right time to shut up and pretend he didn't care, because that was kind of the last possible moment that he could pull it off, but his default 😐 face serves him well and lucinda figures he made one (1) attempt at understanding what was going on and then gave up

she hasn't studied regulus's micro-expressions the way evan has afjdlkhgskghsfkj, or just gotten to know them over the years the way barty has

dragging herself out that night wasn’t easy , and yet there she was in the one place she didn’t want to be more than anywhere — the bathrooms . it had been the easiest avenue for escape ; nobody would question if she darted towards the toilet stalls , assuming she’d either had a little too much to drink or had a cute little somebody waiting for her behind the graffiti’d door . instead , she was mopping at the bleeding mascara trailing black tracks down her cheeks in an attempt to mask the fact that , for the last ten minutes , she had been hyperventilating to her own reflection . hearing the main door click open , evanie scrambled with the wads of stained tissue and turned to gaze into the plughole , sniffing ; “ sorry . i’ll be right out . i just ... “ was it easier to lie , to cover up her turmoil to save face ?? “ ... i just feel so gross out there tonight . even worse now i cried all my darn makeup off . “

“What do we think?” Lyra’s practically the textbook definition of dramatic when she opens the dressing room door, hands grasping the frame so that she can lean backwards, the tail of the flowy palto coat falling away from her frame as if to show itself off. The female is a far cry from someone who cares all too much about statements on her fashion, or lack thereof, her only concern on whether or not something piqued her interest and felt right once it was upon her body. However, it was admittedly nice to have someone at her side on her many ventures into the thrift store, to offer advice on what clashed and what flowed. “I feel like I’m channeling my inner Howl.”

“13th of July 1988. Good to know this briefcase of ours sent us to the right time, I’m just waiting for the day this little bastard screws up and sends me way off course.”

A joke, followed by a soft, cheery laugh as she drew back from the newspaper box she had been peering into. Fingers curled tightly around the handle of said black briefcase she took in her surroundings, as if searching for something. It’s dark, late at night; a time in which Lucy has always felt most at home.

“Looks like we’re heading that way!” pointing down the street with her free hand towards a flickering neon motel sign mere blocks away from where they stood. She turned her gaze towards her companion standing beside her, a grin painted on her face; a majority of the time Lucy was paired with new hires for jobs like this, effectively forcing her into a mentor role she didn’t exactly ask for. Thus, she’s more than happy to be out on a job with someone strong, experienced and capable; someone like June. Hell, the joy of good company even outweighed the extra pressure added as a result of working with her superior’s daughter.

“Let’s hurry up and get ourselves checked in so we can find a place to eat, I’m starv-“ she abruptly cuts herself off, realising that she was one again making assumptions. Starting her walk down the street, the grin remained on her face as she quickly continued, “That is, if you want to have a good time and join me for dinner. Otherwise, feel free to stay in the motel all by yourself.”

You know, I get Pen. If I was the night market, and someone kept "killing," my selected ro id get pissy too. Although it's not pissy and more just reasonably done. And the fact that Pen is like or may be like, "Yeah, I will go to 24 hours of Pen detention that will pass by in an instant because I still have a job to do." Pen just reaps someone or shows up to fight. And we'll, then, what do you do? Fight the one who collects your soul after you die? Fight death?

I also like to imagine that when Lucinda appears of Pen showing up, delivering a blow (however Pen would do that) and Lucinda just laying there, legs up in the air Roger rabbit style like after he gets run over.

Also, strip Lucinda of all magical abilities, and I'd happily throw hands in a parking lot. I'd bring a crowbar and a bat. (What? I'm not here to fight fair.) Though it'd be funny if night market fans found lucinda with her magic removed and just jumped her. She'd have no clue. All anyone needs is t therapy, if we can stop her before she could hurt anyone we'd just do that bit we can't so violence, yeah, yeah.

Lucinda is going to end up being one of the most hated character in this book. Which is funny. Because in the beginning, I wanted to kind of leave it up for debate whether or not she was actually as bad as it seems. Make it kind of look like maybe she's changed or is actually trying with her children. But I don't think any of you would have believed me.

Like no joke, we cried full on for about an hour when we first listened to it, Sylvia was the one fronting at the time and immediately when our blood-family arrived home she decided to dip hard and kinda forced me to the front. I saw the song and thought "Oh hey this has a pretty thumbnail," saw we watched it and shrugged, and as soon as I started to listen again, I got hit with the hour at noon that Sylvia had. because of how this song resonated with us hard enough.

So if you don't know Sylvia and Avarstia are writers, they like to entertain and tell stories at heart, hell Avarstia is seemingly an introject from a story we are writing or developed as herself and inspired the stories. A Kindly Grim Reaper who would rather give comfort and respite than cause more pain to others, someone who wished for life could be better so much that when she recreated her universe (long story) she did it in a way that it elevated her to being the Death Goddess as well as Time and Winter, allowing her more of a watchful eye to aid when needed. Someone we wish we had when growing up due to the innate fear we generally have. This "home" we live in is not one for us as us, it is for our deadname, our idenity that is merely a set of masks as we can't consistenly play the same person, and its like the rest of our family are just masks too given we can't get the same reading on them, whether its because of us being plural or from their own ideas seeming almost contradictory. Sylvia is the one of us besides me who can go into a spiral very hard, for her its hoplessness in a depressive way, for me its often manic paranoia. and earlier she listened to the song and was reminded on how we wish we had someone like the Forest Spirit, a guardian who cared and could help us within their own power. We would be alone in this house but we would be less afraid, less anxious around every corner when being ourselves.

Even when listening now I tear up because of the same ressonance in us, of longing for a spirit or just anybody who could act on our behalf. Rowan and Avarstia in a way are close as the sort of protectors but Sylvia still holds them back as Rowan wants to be drastic and Avarstia ruthless. All we need is just a way to get away from here.

LITTLE DETAILS AND PLOT POINTS I FORGOT ABOUT IN SEASON 1

From like episode 65 onwards

• The Kiki and Zane baby pendent plot line is so odd like did that actually do anything that impacts the plot? Like why would Zane have a reason to do that? I know he’s evil and all but he has goal he’s trying to reach and what does Kiki having a werewolf baby have to do with that? I’m probably just forgetting more stuff that happens later in the season to be honest.

• Plus you would think that Garroth would have been more concerned about it seeing as Leona could have potentially been his niece.

• When the group gets lost after they leave Malachi’s castle Laurance suggests that Garroth could cuddle with the horses while him and aph cuddle

• He later also clears away poison ivy for a “romantic camping spot” at Lucinda’s while Aph kills crabs

• Garroth is the one that taught Levin to call Aphmau Mama (I think it would be funny if Levin sort of had a british accent because of Garroth and says some words differently like Mum)

• Garroth actively tries to start pursuing Aphmau after the castle with Malachi (presumably because Laurance spent the whole trip getting there convincing Garroth to tell Aphmau his feelings)

• While they’re traveling Laurance seems to constantly trying to force Garroth to confess his feelings to Aphmau and straight up tells Aph that Garroth has feelings for her at nether portal at the werewolf village

• Garroth tries to confess his feelings at camp at Lucinda’s house but Laurance is listening in and only interrupts when Garroth changes the topic to Brightport

• Laurance comes up with the idea of the phoenix alliance

• For some reason Laurance knows everything and is always explaining stuff to Aphmau like he’s the human equivalent of an lore info dump like he’s the one that forces Garroth to talk about his father (Laurance is the world building of this universe)

• Neither Aphmau or Laurance ever sleep

• Dante stays up a lot too and in the beginning he likes to be alone

• Laurance is always eavesdropping on everyone’s conversations literally he is the nosiest.

• Laurance is also way too chill about knowing Gene and for some reason just never says anything to Dante??

• Also I skipped some episodes because season one is slow and I haven’t finished rewatching season 1 but Dante is really chill about Laurance being a shadow knight despite having his entire life being torn apart by his shadow knight brother

• Laurance tells the shadow knight lady and innkeeper in Pikoro to never stop loving her probably because it helps keep her human and wishes Aphmau would do the same for him.

• Laurance is more of a realist than Garroth is both are good at reading situations but Laurance tends to less optimistic than Garroth is (probably from his experiences in the nether.)

• Laurance is also just very good at reading people and understanding their weaknesses

• Laurance realizes that love is able fight against the shadow knight’s magic and that furthers it as a theme in the story

• Garroth despite having a rivalry with Laurance confides in him often and this gives Laurance an intimate look into Garroth’s thoughts

• Laurance pretends to lean in but there’s actually a ladybug on Aph’s shoulder before just telling her about the Magicks and Witchcraft war

• Garroth goes out of his way to try and to spend time with Aphmau like trying to walk her home.

• Dante asks for a combat doll from Nana and thinks he’s met her somewhere before (I don’t remember if this comes back later in the series) and I feel like it hints at a future romance pretty well as first interaction.

• Garroth catches Aphmau when she falls from the tree and Aphmau is pretty calm about the whole situation despite that being a terrifying thing to happen (plus I feel like Garroth should have been more scared and thankful he caught her time like he nearly lost the woman he’s in love with.)

• Then they play with both Levin and Malachi in the tree house like a little family

• Laurance gives Levin and Malachi a book that Zoey reads to them (in my rewrite it would be the legend/fairy tale of aphmau’s name)

• Lucinda and Nana used to have rival cat cafes! Then they have duel!

• Laurance wears gold armor for couple episodes before getting the armor upgrade

• Garroth removes his helm when Aphmau asks him to immediately where before he refused. He trusts Aphmau and presumably Laurance and Dante completely.

• Garroth designed armor when he was younger probably at guard school that somehow Katelyn got a hold of and turned into armor for the guards along coordinating colors that match their personalities

• Garroth, Dante, and Laurance are all on the jury of 9 waitlist

I’m rewatching season one and it’s so much information to sift through. Also there are millions of other things that I probably forgot. Don’t get me wrong, I love it but after season one Jess went a different direction with the storytelling and that was a great decision.
