Of course she knew better than to allow things to seep into the early hours of the morning, but here she was, tiptoeing through the halls, messy red hair framing her face as she buttoned up her shirt, trying to get out before anyone caught her and give her away.

She had a rule about not sleeping over, but she wasn’t thinking clearly when he pulled her into his bed, and when she woke up, his arms were wrapped around her and it was already dawn. But when the sound of another door opening caught her attention, she panicked, and that was the story of how Sutton found herself on the floor, trying to hide behind the hallway console table only to be met by a pair of young eyes, ones that mirrored the same ones she had been gazing into while she fell asleep.

It took her a minute, but the gears started to turn and though she was more than thankful that it wasn't her lover's wife, it was still his son and that was enough to make her nervous. "Shit," she breathed out, knowing she was already discovered before she was fully behind the table, but she couldn't just stop now.

"I'm...I'm sorry." she said, crawling out from behind the table, raising to her feet, and trying to act natural as she ran her hands down the front of her shirt. "I'm just... I'm just leaving. I didn't... —actually, never mind, I'm gonna go."

a chuckle left her lips at the way he quipped back, her grin broadening. "thanks for looking out for the dishes here." her face was red, but it could've been from the wine, or maybe from him. probably from him. standing up, she lifted both her plate and her father's and brought it back to the kitchen. "here, just put everything on the rack, i'll start throwing the rest out and cleaning." her hand found its way to his arm for just a moment, a fleeting touch as she kept herself up from the dizziness that came from the wine. "oof, i definitely drank a little too much... guess i gotta watch it there. but my dad's stories about classes and some of his students... well, sometimes i just need a little bit of alcohol. you ever get that from him? i can never tell if people actually enjoy him as a professor or not."

was it wrong? of course. caesar and her had been friends for awhile now, and so he was right, he didn't deserve to be used as a pawn in her games. but, all that rage and all the fury had jade's mind spinning, and by no means was she in the mood to play nice with anyone, or do the right thing. all she wanted was a drink, a smoke, and a way to make jamahl's life as miserable as hers was, and then some. "save it, caesar, you'll only be wasting your breath," jade replied coldly, not bothering to turn around and face him. the last thing she wanted was for him to see how upset and distraught she was, and how hard it was for her to keep her emotions in check. "take it up with your brother if you have a problem, but at this very moment, i do not care. i'd do it again if it meant he'd be pissed, too. so sorry, not exactly concerned with your feelings right now."

she wasn't surprised he hadn't expected her. hell, she barely expected it as well. but when she heard about mason being released her mind started racing, and she of course thought of willa, their daughter. willa needed to meet her father, and tessa knew he deserved to be in willa's life. and the truth was, tessa still cared about him. not that she was ready to spring all of that on him right this second, but she'd get there... eventually. "guess i'm just easily bought," she teased, her arm slinging around and pulling him into a tight embrace. "no, your mom just needed a little extra help. and, ya know, i figured why the hell not, right? get to see a familiar face and hey, if you play your cards right, we can stop for some way better food than what they've been serving you in there." kicking off her heel she moved back from him, her body slowly inching toward her car in the parking lot. there was a sick feeling growing at the pit of her stomach, the fact that he never reached out because of her words -- those very words her parents forced her to say. wanting her to focus on her career to remain having a roof over their heads. there is a moment when she asks why he never reached out to her about how he felt, and he feels his heart sinking into the pit of his stomach. " because you asked me not to ivorie. you said that you couldn't focus on your career and be with me. and i didn't want to get in the way of you getting everything you want and deserve. " even if that meant doing it all without him. that was how strong his feelings for her went. finn would swallow his own feelings if it meant she got everything she wanted. there is a pause and he swallows, feeling a lump in the back of his throat as he looks into her eyes.
