Do you have any behavior facts on Hanan & Akali or anything about their relationships with others?

Akali (the one who looks more like a leopard) is very shy, but she tries her best to make friends and be brave despite it. Akali is much more immersed in the world of literature and folk stories than conversation however, and enjoys her free time alone. She gets along best with her “cousin”, Solana and older brother, Baal.

Hanan (the one who looks more like a sheep) is the opposite. She loves attention, being rowdy and loud and causing trouble with her “cousin” Ender that her older brother Aym typically has to take them out of. Despite her need for attention and destruction, she refuses to interact with any other cult children from how much she and her sister have been mistreated and ignored by the mortal populace.

Not to bring out the ol' reliable Irelia rework dialogue (i'd consider her the Gold Standard of League of Legends audio dialogue alongside Akali) but like - she was interacting with Xin Zhao, Bard, Orianna, Janna, flirting with Fiora even. And Riot couldn't manage to manage to have Ambessa interact with Caitlyn? Really are dropping the ball every way possible smh.

Making your autistic character become obsessed with 8 in a very unhealthy way doesn't look pretty

Hi there! Can you tell me what about I've written about my character, off anon? I've spoken to autistic individuals and I haven't had anyone tell me that it's "problematic" to write the character in the way I've written, but welcome general discussion in how to improve my portrayal of my autistic character.

With all due respect, I genuinely don't know what you mean by "Problematic," and I'm sorry to hear that my portrayal is considered to be unhealthy and ugly. I'm not trying to make a Big Bang Sheldon knockoff here, that's not my intent, and I apologize if that came off as offensive.

I wrote Akali with the intent of portraying an autistic individual who's fresh to the idea of love, and is learning how to process romance as a whole. Akali is meant to by a shy individual, one who wants attention but lacks the know-how on the right way to go about it. Both three and eight are good friends, but Akali (my three as you know them) are learning the idea of boundaries, which is also something that I had explained to me by an autistic friend of mine. (Caveat here: I know I made my agent 4 say that Akali is weird. This is because Bella has never interacted with an autistic person before and is learning what it's like to have autism. I wanted Bella to go through their own learning of what autism is, through a neurotypical lens. I'm also having an autistic friend of mine help me with writing and understanding this. I myself do not have autism (only suspected at the moment), but I am seeking advice and help with character development and portray when it comes to my agent characters.)

TLDR: I'd appreciate it if you were to come off of anon and inform me what mistakes I'm making with writing my autistic character if possible. I'm willing to grow as a writer, and I'm willing to hear the perspective of other autistic people, not just my own autistic friends. I'm unsure as to what mistakes I'm making here, and want to rectify them so I may have a better portray of autism with the symptoms I've given my character.

If you guys are unwilling to point out what I'm doing wrong through DMs and take the mask off, I understand. But please keep in mind that I'm doing the best I can, and can only do the best I can with what I'm given from those who are autistic. Thank you.

Yesterday I watched Arcane season 2. I had many thoughts and opinions about season 2.

But the biggest thought that went through my head was: How did Arcane shape shipping?

Specifically how Arcane has shaped what ships Fanfic writers have predominately written about.

So using Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine, and taking the data from AO3, which was literally me clicking on the relationship tab and seeing what the top fics were, I made some discovery��s.

The results should not surprise you, but I’m still compelled to write about it anyway because it’s been driving me insane.

There are disclaimers at the bottom that I find interesting, and add context, but are minimally impactful to what I’m going to write.

There may be some spoilers for who the most popular ships are, but I'm not going to actively discuss why those characters are the most popular ships, nor talk about the canonicity of said ships. Still, if you don't want to know anything at all about Arcane at all, especially which characters share a bond that could be described as romantic, then I'd advise you don't continue reading. Particularly for season 2, where I discuss a particular pairing. (I only mention that they get close/closer/meet/interact in season 2, not any specifics). I also mention that a character does not appear in Arcane.

Let’s start with a baseline:

As of Janurary 27, 2025, the League of Legends most popular ships are:

Not really surprising.

On January 14, 2021 League of Legends shipping looked like this:

Now the big things to note here is A) Akali/Evelynn is the top of the chart. B) Caitlyn/Vi is the second most popular pairing. C) Neither Jayce/Viktor, nor Ekko/Jinx are popular enough in the LoL community on AO3 to warrant enough fics to make this list. There is a little bit of interesting history here. Sometime between July 25th and December 11th, 2019, Caitlyn/Vi had gone from the most popular pairing to second most popular pairing behind Akali/Evelynn.

Next date October 16, 2021

This was the closest date I could find before Arcane released (there is a date that is closer after Arcane released, but I'll talk about that in a moment). This shows a very interesting: Over ten months: Akali/Evelynn had added 177 fics, Ahri/Kai'Sa had added 132 fics. Ahri/Evelynn, which hadn't been on the list had added at least 62 fics. Caitlyn/Vi had added 26 fics. The K/DA group was winning the shipping. Caitlyn/Vi had been relegated, and likely Ahri/Evelynn was looking to take it's place in the (relative to pre Arcane fic production level) near future.

Then Arcane Season 1 released on November 6th, 2021.

On November 11, 2021

Caitlyn/Vi had added 17 fics in a one month time frame. Akali/Evelynn had added 5 fics, Ahri/Kai'Sa had added 0 fics. Now, by this point, Caitlyn and Vi hadn't even interacted. (This was after the release of Arc 1, the first three episodes of Arcane). But there is a notable shift from, presumedly from information about future episodes such as trailers, that invigorated (or reinvigorated old fans of the ship) to create new fics of the two.

The next available date on the Wayback Machine is November 27, 2021, after the end of Season 1.

I would have loved to see the information at the end of Arc 2. How long did it take the Cait/Vi writers and Jayce/Viktor (who, unlike Cait/Vi had interacted in Arc 1) to get going. After Arc 2, or did it wait until the end of the first season? In any case, it's clear by now that Arcane had done two things: Reignited a ship that was starting to fall behind, and turbocharged a new ship.

Not much to say here, except the supercharge for both continue.

December 7, 2021

Return of the Queen(s). Honestly, at this point the trend is clear. Jayce/Viktor was clearly going to overtake Akali/Evelynn soon from this point. So, we're done. Cait/Vi and Jayce/Viktor are at the top, and probably anticipate to stay there for quite some time.

But.... isn't there another pairing who was completely absent from the original list on January 14, 2021? Who's popularity is almost entirely surrounded by Arcane?

Well... Jinx/Ekko clearly was a season 2 thing. So there shouldn't be any shock about the fact they don't make the cut after season 1.

Here is the list on October 10, 2024.

One month before Season 2 is released, Ekko/Jinx is in 9th place. Now it's popularity is clearly inflated by the presence of Season 2, adding 380 fics, more than doubling. Still, why is it on the list in 2024 before season 2, but not in 2021, after season 1?

But, Ekko and Jinx interacted in Season 1. Maybe it was a bit of a delay. Fics aren't instantaneous, and maybe it was just right behind Malcom Graves/Twisted Fate? The 11th most popular pairing that was going to eclipse them soon.

This is... sort of the case. Somewhere between January 29th, 2022 and March 4th, 2022, Ekko/Jinx would become the 9th most popular pairing.

So... there we are. Arcane has clearly changed the landscape of LoL shipping, in the same way that I imagine K/DA did, (though on a much more intense and broader scale, as seen by the pure number of fics).

You have some clear older pairings that have remained somewhat popular. LoL has clearly been doing other things in the background that isn't Arcane that has also shaped shipping. Ezreal/Shieda Kayn appears sometime between March 4th, 2022 and October 10, 2024 and outperforms Ekko/Jinx until Season 2 of Arcane.

But by far, the biggest driver of shipping has to be Arcane. Six of the top ten most popular 'ships' (including three friendship tags for characters), are full Arcane ships (in which both characters appear in Arcane), and an additional ship is a half Arcane ship (involving a character from Arcane, and a character not from Arcane.) Compared to prior to the show being release, where only one pairing of the top ten would be considered today a full Arcane ship, and another would be a half Arcane ship, this showcases how much the shipping landscape has changed.

This wasn't a project I intended to do. It started with a thought. I wonder how popular Jayce and Viktor were before Arcane. I then lost about three hours of my life.

Damn.

Disclaimers:

1) This is not a thoroughly researched paper, nor should it be considered as such. This took me an hour of research (and two hours writing), and honestly most of it was doublechecking the dates. Because of that:

1a) I only use AO3. If I was being serious and doing a more in-depth research, I would have also done research on at least Fanfic.net, and a more general search online of where LoL fics are located. But AO3 is honestly the easiest to navigate, and as the most popular one should show enough of the pattern to make a generalized statement on my non academic post. 

2) As anyone who has used the wayback machine can tell you, the wayback machine are ‘screenshots’ of a particular moment in time. It is not updated constantly. Particularly for something a bit… niche like this. For example, the first sceeenshot I could find for LoL fics on AO3 is November 7, 2012, which has 7 fics: one labeled maybe romance, one gen fic, two M/F but no ships attached (though one fic does have Morgana and Katarina as the only two characters listed, so I’m guessing them, the other has Jarvan Lightshield IV, Pantheon- The Artisan of War, Hagurashi Kagome as the tags), one Miss Fortune/Twisted Fate fic, one Garen/Katerina fic, and one Ezreal/Shyvana | Jarvin IV/Shyvana fic. The next date is November 9th, same fics. After that is January 24th, 2013, with 15 fics. So some dates are used not because they make the most sense, but because they are the closest date I could find to the date that would make the most sense. 

This brings up an interesting point:

2a) Fics disappear. One of the fics I mention no longer seems to exist on AO3. That means that, especially as we approach the more modern day, a lot of fics may have disappeared. So if I say: there were 100 fics about Vi/Cait, that means when the screenshot was taken there were, at that time, 100 fics about Vi/Cait on AO3, and not that there were only 100 Vi/Cait fics ever posted on AO3 before that point. 

3) I am not a LoL fan. I enjoyed Arcane, but beyond Arcane and some TB Skyen shorts I’ve watched, I know nothing about LoL and its world. If you had asked me before December 2021 (when I first watched Arcane season 1) I could have identified: K/DA (though I would not have known they were related to LoL), and Jinx. My knowledge has only improved based entirely around Arcane. (And TB Skyen shorts)

4) I touch upon this briefly, but Jinx/Lux is an interesting case. Similar to Caitlyn/Vi it appears in the top ten list the entire time I check, so it had some popularity before Arcane came out. But... Lux isn't in Arcane. I can't speak to the appeal that Jinx/Lux has in the same way that I could for Cait/Vi, Viktor/Jayce, or Ekko/Jinx. I have theories on why it's popular, and why it became supercharged in it's popularity since Arcane, but that is well outside the scope of what I actually researched and am presenting, and would require much more research than I want to do. I'm looking into: Did fics involving pairings increase after show began, not why did certain pairings become much more popular instead of others.

Last Note:

I don't use Tumblr much anymore. I stopped opening the App on a daily basis 5-6 years ago. I check maybe every few months. I had one 'viral' post. The email attached to this Tumblr account is one I never use anymore.

I always told myself that once I became an author I'd return to Tumblr. Realize my dreams. That's not progressing the way I'd hoped. And I'm honestly probably happier for it.

I do publish fanfics of my own, but honestly not that much. (Check out Madwolf023 on AO3 if for some reason a demon possessed you while reading this and is now forcing you to read my fics.) When I started using Tumblr I thought I'd be writing fics every day of my life. Spoiler Alert I did not. As with most people, my focus changed. I still love writing, and still I'm more focused on fun research now that I do for myself, and is like this: Scientifically and Academically dubious, but enough to satisfy my itch.

The reason I say this is as a bit of a swan song to myself, an admittance to myself that maybe work in the creative fields isn't for me.

I'll still write, I'll still do the world building I love, which I have done in the years since I stopped using Tumblr.

But... for myself. Not really for the perceived audience I once hoped for.

Id imagine the comics probably go more in depth about Logans feelings, Jeans, and Scotts since its a thing happening since the beginning, and I havent read the comics so i cant fully comment on that since idk how fleshed out that whole thing is. I WILL SAY that i think it does bad to logans character bc i think it makes him seem creepy and weird towards jean sometimes when she explicitly says no. At least from the stuff ive seen.

SO BUT i will comment on the movies bc while i havent watched the 97 xmen and like i said havent read the comics either, i feel like the movies did such an extreme disservice to her. Her character is constantly described as super empathetic and caring and friendly, and yes shes supposed to be super mature and intelligent, but really i just got the intelligent part. I dont want to use the word "bitch" to describe her bc her charater analysis goes deeper than that but anyway. She just seems cold and serious. Ororo takes up the whole "super kind and nuturing lady" who she is but anyway.

When it comes to jean and logan interacting they barely have any type of convo or connection that I felt like worth the drama between them. You can always aknwoledge that more theres background knowledge that you dont see in the movie. Logan flirts with jean (alright shes pretty so hes just gonna be flirty) and she immediately gets irritated (pushes him in the xray). Should tell you no, shes not interested. Then later she shows him his bedroom, he flirts again, and she immediately shuts him down by mentioning scott- but then she goes to look at his memories and honestly the moment becomes super intimate. Very random. But i guess if you were looking into someomes traumatic pass youd get intimate too.

Honestly you dont really see much happen between them after. They fight magneto, logan saves the day AND THEN when jeans checking ovee logan in the x mansion and shes all like "rogues smitten with you for saving her" and logan says well she better move past it "my heart belongs to someone else" AND LOOK ITS A SUPER SWEET LINE BUT WHAT?? HOW CAAN YOU SAY THAT YALL BARELY HAD A CONVO???? Now you could say that my thinking from the post this all came from could connect that logan knows when hes got feelings for someone and maybe he feels them strongly but HONESTLY i could not see any connection between them. Logan spends more time being concerned over rogue, and his own past and youre gonna suddenly imply hes in love with her AFTER A WEEK?? No. I love a good love story but this aint it. Give me something between jean and scott that shows the stuff their relationship endures together and how much they love each other. Let logan figure his life out.

Thats when the next movies get super frustrating. In X2 jean is so mean to logan. First she acts so flirty towards him and gets his hopes up. Then when he tells her he likes her and he kisses her she LETS HIM and i honestly cant decide if she did it because she felt bad for him or if she did it bc she was truly interested. She tells logan girls flirt with the dangerous girl but they marry the good guy. The guy you can bring home to your parents. When logan suggests he could be the good guy (so sweetly) she says the good guy STAYS. Impying shes angry at him for leaving to go figure out what happened at lake akali?? Also implying maybe something couldve happpened between them if he did stay even though her and scott are still a thing?? Hello?? There could be several ways to decipher this but since this is going on long enough im not gonna add those.

I think if jean did have any feelings for logan, its as she puts it. Maybe hes dangerous and new, and that gives her some sort of excitement. She grew up in suburban middle class neighborhood. Got powers and went to a super school. She got with scott and her life was pretty set. Maybe logan gave her some excitement? She liked the attention from him but knew it was wrong? Idk. In the end though she knew she would pick scott. Perhaps jean was having complicated feelings for logan? If she was, that wass the only time you truly saw ANY sign of it. It felt more like she was leading him on, and then shutting him down quickly. And to her credit she did always shut him down in the end (when shes not possessed)

Im gonna add i dont think logan is fully innocent either. He pushes himself onto a woman who maybe she was giving him mixed signals but she still is commited to another guy (who was also missimg in most of the x2 movie??) Logan should have respected the boundaries but i suppose feelings esp romantic can be hard to deal with. While logan and scott had their qualms i think logan did have respect for scott in someway.

(Dont get me started on how they butchered my boy scotty in these movies btw. They gave him NO screentime)

So thrn the rest of the movie goes on and jean dies (death #1) and obvs everyones devestated. When x3 goes on logan doesnt seem all that upset. Scott was rightfully grief stricken. You could say that logan maybe pushed that stuff away, the grief and sadness, or mayb hes so used to it he can move on. He tells scott she wouldve want him to move on. (Sorry lo but he JUST lost his gf/fiance??)

When jean comes back and kills scott and logan and ororo find her, jean then comes on to logan and they have that intense makeout session EXCEPT it isnt jean its the phoenix, and idk much about the phoenix but its possible that it was displaying jeanss inner emotions and its described that her emotions when charles met her was powerful and sporadic. Jean wass literally about to kill logan the way she did scott and I think logan sensed something and thats why he stopped, he remembered scott and asked where he was, and to logans credit i think he knew jean wouldnt have really wanted that.

The rest of the movie happens and logan ends up killing her after they lose charles. He tells her he loves her. Bro, you knew her for maybe 1 week, left for idk how long a month? Came back and knew her for a couple more days- KISSED HER- she told you no anyway, she dies, comes back, and now you tell her just as shes having a full power break down being posessed by some immortal space bird that you love her? I mean, do you even know her favorite color?

I feel like their whole "love story" (both comics and movies) is some sloppy attempt to have romance and drama and to make logan seem more complicaated and add to his personal struggle (as if he isnt complicated enough) if youre going to do a love triangle, actually build up a relationship between people bc tbh we barely saw scott and jeans relationship either. If you want logan to have romance try Ororo (which FINALLY is happening btw). I mean, im always open for logan romance but i suppose storm deserves a chance.

I mean maybe its me, maybe im just a sucker for true love, a building of friendship/relationship first before finally realizing that you love them (or been in love from the start). There was no romantic devlopement of any sort and honestly any feelings logan and jean may have for each seemed more physical than anything else. I could prob write an essay about how wrong it all was, how it destroyed jeans character by forcing logan on her and making her seem like she was into it and made logan look pushy and disrespectful.

I dont mean to slander jeans character so hard. I think her character when done right is actually wonderful (and honestly someone i could relate too) but the movies didnt do right by her. Jean and scott didnt get very good development the way storm and logan did and honestly logan is the top contender in character development against everyone.

So yes thats my essay im sure you werent expecting me to answer all this but I REALLY wanted to get this out there. Its just my lil thinking about thesee movies

the obvious answer is Xolaani x Naafiri (xolaafiri or bloodhound if you're feeling fancy), especially pre Darkin era! I wrote an one-shot about them, and my naafiri playlist also mentions my delusions (songs that come to mind rn are Howl and Go To War) that actually do make sense if you think about it long enough

other than that, probably, I don't know, Seraphine x Akali (serakali to me, but I've seen some people calling them starryblade) but exclusively in the Musicverse. the k/da harmonies comic is actually pretty gay! plus their photos together and that tiny interaction in the more music video are cute, too

“I guess we should get started then.” Barbara announced from her spot at the head of the table, her gaze focused on the ten Dioles that sat before her. Everyone was silent as she continued, curiously listening in as to why this meeting was called so suddenly.

“Well, a few of our friends went on a mission earlier today. Felix, Maddox, Nyssa, Tindra, and Borislava all went to Paradise to try and find Reagan, but they haven’t come back yet.” She said, turning to look at Una, who gave them all a nod.

“They’re all alive but it looks like they’ve been thrown in a prison instead of killed.” He said. “The prison is always guarded. I was able to get a couple of my clones close but then they got murdered.” He added rather casually. He didn’t seem to be too stressed, despite the fact that five of their companions - and three of their most valuable fighters, no less - were currently being held hostage by Paradise. “They either actually don’t wanna kill them, or they’re using them as bait for more of us to show up!”

“So our plan is?”

“We’ll just need to assemble a master team to go get them back!” Una grinned.

“Me and Shehani for sure.” He said, pointing at himself and then the girl seated beside him. “The rest of you can volunteer yourselves.”

“I’m going.” Wilder declared.

“Okay that’s three!”

A hoarse voice spoke up for the first time in nearly a week. “I’ll go too then.” Akali, who had not so much as shown his face since the attack, was the last person anyone would’ve expected to come on this mission. Yet here he was, volunteering himself.

Ilona side-eyed him for a second, almost looking like she wanted to interrupt, but stayed silent, allowing Una to continue.

“Four of us should be enough, considering there’s also one more person we gotta convince.”

Speak of the devil and he shall arrive.

There was a faint ding at the back of the room as the sleek silver elevator doors slid open, revealing Haru Gansukh in all his disheveled glory.

Although none of them had seen Haru ever appear to be happy, the man looked downright miserable as he stepped into the meeting room. His long, lanky black hair spilled down past his shoulders in clumps, for once not in the messy bun that usually rested atop his head. His clothes fit around his muscular frame in a wrinkled mess, like he had haphazardly thrown on the first thing he had laid his eyes upon. He glanced around, eyebrows furrowing as he took in the expectant look everyone was giving him. “What?”

“Haru, we need you for a mission.” Una told him, speaking in a much less enthusiastic tone now.

Haru was instantly reminded of his last interaction with Felix. If his memory served him right, he had chased him down the hall, demanding he take him to Paradise, before screaming something along the lines of “KILL YOURSELF!” and disappearing through a portal.

He promptly turned on his heel. “I’m not going.”

“But Haru we need you!”

“Then I guess you’re not getting anyone back.” Haru stepped back into the elevator, pressing the button to return him back to the medical floor. He watched them with a blank, uncaring expression as the doors slowly closed shut, cutting off anymore protests at his complete refusal to fight.

The room was filled with a deafening silence.

“…….Well that blows.” Una huffed, slouching back in his chair, eyes watching the elevator as it disappeared back upstairs.

“When are we going?” Wilder asked, completely ignoring Haru and his (frustrating) stubborn nature.

“When we can convince him.” Una replied, gaze still on the elevator.

“So never?” Wilder deadpanned.

“Three days.” Akali cut in. “If Haru doesn’t turn around in three days then we go ourselves.”

“Sounds good to me!” Una said, glancing around to find equal looks of agreement. It was decided: three days, and they’d break into Paradise to get the others back, with or without Haru to help them.

K/DA Lore pt.3

It took me a while to decide on how teen Evelynn would look like. So I held off my last post until I could finalise her design. Yes I heavily based her off Maddison Beers look at the 2018 worlds. Its a shame I wasn't able to showcase her fashion I had in mind. Perhaps I'll try drawing a full body reference in the future.

Time for Kai'sa! KDA's most shallow member! (I love Kai'sa guys I swear. It's riot that ruined her potential.)

As a child Kaisa would travel a lot because of her father's work (military) She would grow up as a model student fluent in many languages and educated in geography and history. Kai'sa is socially underdeveloped due to her "really moves around" upbringing. She also is the "Broken Ace" type (nomadic life), always striving for perfection in her grades and career but in turn suffers socially. This makes Kai'sa very awkward and oblivious to social cues when interacting with people outside of a professional manner. Because of this, she was typically outcasted throughout the many schools she attended. Others feared her like she was some sort of monster. A creature too mysterious and focused on achieving to be understood. School became a hunt to survive mentality to kaisa and nothing else mattered in her world. Yet the longing to belong was still there in her heart. After discovering dance in her teens Kai'sa would start to evolve. She never had hobbies or any indulgences in her life. All she knew was how to survive an ever-changing environment as she constantly moved with her father's tours and deployments around the world. With dance, she finally opened herself up to the idea of living over surviving. From ballet in Russia to hip hop in the Americas Kaisa would find the universal language to feel herself and to connect to those around her no matter where in the world she was. Kaisa grew to have a passion for the arts, she discovered she was diversly gifted in creativity. Her hardworking attitude and serious studying nature helped her achieve many degrees. As an adult, she would make her own studio the Firefly Collective (located in America) where she would share her passion and teach others the wonderful world of dance and would go on to create a popular youtube channel for her studio (think 1MILLION Dance Studio). She was happy being a teacher and was astonished to have been visited by Ahri and Evelynn. Kaisa wasn't too aware of K-pop artists so she didn't recognize them as celebrities but her students did. They freaked out when popstars Ahri and Evelynn entered their dance studio. Seeking out someone to be their choreographer. Kaisa's students urged her to take this opportunity and so Kaisa became the third member of kda.

*in 2018, one year before KDA debuted she won Hong Kong's "Can you dance?" competition. This success was what put her on Ahri and Evelynn's radar. (Kai'sa was 21 at the time)

*Kai'sa had a complete personality overhaul when she discovered dance. She went from the recluse, studyholic to the hippie, free spirited type.

*In her life Kai'sa has lived in 10 countries: China, South Africa, South Korea, France, America, Australia, United Kingdom, Russia, India and Argentina.

*She was born in south africa (as a omage to her default voice actor)

── The relationship Robin feels towards Akali stems from their daily work interactions so most of his emotions towards her fairly professional. However he is quite fond of her regardless of their limited relationship due to his connection to Evelynn - he understands how much she loves Akali and that has influenced his own actions towards her. That being said Robin's trust and loyalty costs far more than just being important to someone he happens to like, and it takes a lot of time for him to truly feel connected to anyone in any meaningful way. That being said - Akali does have a bit more than any other stranger or coworker he has, she can thank Evelynn for that.
