admitting that he played a part in their downfall seemed to work somewhat to his advantage; he could practically see the gears turning in isabel's head, silence leading him to believe she was thinking of how to respond. and since he was already being honest... he figured now was as good a time as any, to say what was really on his mind. preston glanced around, remembering that they were, admittedly, in maybe too public of a place to be having this conversation, before he licked his lips lightly and glanced back at her, "i would've said it a while ago, if i thought it would have fixed anything."
isabel was silent for a long moment. it wasn't enough to erase all the feelings of injustice and frustration she had felt both before and after them breaking up, but it was something. he was at least admitting, finally, that all had not been well and taking some part of the responsibility. that, she could deal with. "thank you for saying that." she said eventually. "i appreciate it."

Journal 59
The preparations took weeks, but regiment by regiment the Brotherhood of Steel began the march home. Preston, Danse, and Valentine returned home long before, while I stayed in Cambridge to coordinate supply runs and as a gesture of goodwill. Paladin Brandis took it upon himself to act as a sort of liaison between me and the more stubborn soldiers. Proctor Teagan was just glad to have a willing source of supplies who wasn’t going to charge him an arm and a leg. I tried not to interact much with anyone else.
Preston and Danse came back to Cambridge on the final day of the Brotherhood’s departure. They claimed it was to escort me home. I believe that to be true, but more significantly I think Danse wanted to say goodbye.
We stood down the street from the police station, watching the final preparations. A Scribe hurried over to us, “General Holmes?”
“Scribe Haylen,” I greeted.
“When you see Deacon again, could you tell him I said thank you for helping me out? He distracted the Proctors when I was almost caught for jamming the communications array.”
“When you what?” Danse exclaimed. It was fortunate we were a distance away from the rest of the Brotherhood.
Haylen was offended, “It seemed like the only way to prevent the war was to stop the orders from coming through! How was I supposed to know no orders would be coming?"
Danse was astounded, “Why would you do something so foolish? If you’d been caught, your career would have been over, if not your life!”
Haylen stood tall and firmly stated, “Former commanding officer of mine always taught that I should stand by my principles, no matter what, sir.”
Danse was silent a solid two seconds as Preston and I tried not to smile. “Hmph. Well, he’s an idiot…” he softened with a small laugh, “a grateful and damn proud one.”
Haylen smiled. “Thank you, sir.”
“You don’t have to leave, you know,” Preston quietly suggested.
“Thank you, Colonel, but no. I need to go home.” She took Danse’s hand, “I'm glad to have known you, sir.”
“I feel the same.” He let go, “Take care of yourself, Haylen.”
“I will,” she said, and hurried off.
We watched in silence as the last vertibird took flight back toward the Capital Wasteland, the last caravan of soldiers marching south. The Brotherhood of Steel had left the Commonwealth.
Danse removed his helmet. “It’s strange, seeing them leave. I’m not as upset as I thought I would be.”
“You’ve a life to look forward to here,” I smiled. “A brave new world, all over again.”
Preston grinned, “Time to get back to work.”
After the Brotherhood's departure, the Railroad was free to spread out from the Boathouse as a less clandestine organization and more of a community service for synths. There are still plenty of people in the Commonwealth who are afraid of synths and react with anger upon their discovery, but without the Institute and without the Brotherhood to literally hunt them down, the Railroad has less and less reason to relocate them, and more and more reason to help educate the populace.
Liam Binet decided to move into the remains of Covenant, and turn the now overgrown and rundown settlement into a Minutemen Research Center. He was disturbed by the human remains littering the ground outside of town, and paled when I told him of the town's former purpose. Tinker Tom rigged an explosion to safely collapse the tunnel to the Compound; Liam wanted no part of that legacy of horror. Institute refugees were welcomed, along with any settler willing to apply themselves and learn what the scientists could teach. I insisted upon complete transparency, and Sturges and Curie both will make regular trips to see what progress is being made.
Isabel Cruz has thus far proven good to her word, working with Ada to design robots to defend settlements and assist with Minutemen patrols. As for the Minutemen themselves, Colonel Garvey plans on making regular trips to the Castle, though his office will remain in Sanctuary. Lieutenant Colonel Danse will also continue to oversee the training of the new recruits in Sanctuary. The current system in place works, and has even become a rite of passage for the new generation of recruits. The Minutemen grow stronger every day, and I can think of no two better people to guide them.
Two weeks after the Brotherhood of Steel left the Commonwealth, Valentine and I brought Shaun, Codsworth, and of course Dogmeat, on a trip to Sanctuary. Hancock and Cait escorted Piper and Nat at the same time, making quite the merry crowd on the trip north. We arrived at Sanctuary to see even MacCready and Duncan had been invited, and Deacon was there as well. Curie was bustling about the town, overseeing soldiers and townspeople alike as they decorated and prepared food.
I must admit, I was a bit nervous. Danse and Preston had asked me to perform the greatest honor I could imagine as their General, and more importantly, as their friend. I even dusted off my official uniform for the occasion. Valentine joked I should feel right at home, “seeing as how you’ve got experience impersonating a priest.” Oddly, it didn’t put me at ease.
Well, it was nearing time for the event, and neither groom was anywhere to be seen. Valentine went to check on Danse, while Sturges went to find Preston.
.......................
“Hey, Danse? You ok…” Nick trailed off into a quiet chuckle at the sight of Danse scowling at his reflection, a tie hanging twisted and undone around his neck. “Here, lemme do that.” Danse sighed and allowed Nick to help. “Never learned how to tie one of these things, did you?”
“Why would I?” Danse demanded, exasperated. “Neither of my uniforms required them.”
“Good point. Didn't want to wear your uniform?”
Danse looked down over his grey suit and blue vest, the same colors of his armor. “In a way, this is a different sort of uniform. I don't anticipate wearing this again.” Nick finished and stepped back. Danse looked in the mirror… and sighed, “Why am I doing this?”
Nick’s brow rose, “Thought this was your idea?”
“It was. I thought… clearly, I was malfunctioning on some level.”
“Hm. Can't say I've ever had a malfunction that made me propose to the fella I loved when I didn't want to.” Danse crossed his arms with rolled eyes, and then set to straightening his already straight jacket. Nick smiled, “Don't tell me you're nervous?”
“No. This is just,” he glanced at the window, “more than I thought.”
“You mean the party waiting? Hell, first marriage Sanctuary's seen, can't blame folks for wanting to celebrate.”
“I don't, but it's… uncomfortable. Valentine, why haven't you and Holmes married?”
Nick blinked. “You know, I think it just never occurred to us? Been living together, and Shaun became like a son to me so fast… guess I slipped into being married without stopping to think about it.” Nick paused a moment, “You wanna elope?”
Danse was confused, “What?”
“Skip all this, run out of town with your man down to Diamond City, have the reverend say a few quick words, honeymoon anywhere you want?”
Danse grinned, “Abandon my duties?”
That brought a warm chuckle. “Not even for love, huh?”
“Not for what is supposed to be a symbol of devotion and affection,” Danse clarified. “I know Preston would agree.”
“Suit yourself,” Nick shrugged. “Why'd you wanna do the symbol of devotion and affection anyway?”
Danse was quiet a long moment, looking off to the side but not really seeing what was in front of him. “It seemed like a good idea at the time. I'm not very good at telling him… it felt like something I should do.”
“He knows you love him, Danse. You've told him that much, at least?”
Danse chuckled, “Yes. But a wedding felt like a promise, with all the weight the ritual places on it. Something I can hold in memory, a…” he grasped for a fitting description, and when he found it he looked at Nick like he’d discovered something amazing. “It’s an initiation. Of sorts,” he faltered, sighing, “That sounds idiotic.”
“Nope,” Nick said.
“Really?”
Nick nodded with a smile, “Really. You ready?”
Danse took a deep breath and nodded. “Yes.”
Sturges hurried to find Preston. Danse was using their house, so Preston was in Sturges’s place. Why the hell the two people getting married couldn’t be in the same room he didn’t know, but Curie had been insistent that this was some sort of old tradition, and the two lovebirds had actually liked the idea. “Hey boss, you ready… oh c'mon, you ain't even dressed?!”
Preston stared at him, confused, “What do you mean?”
“Danse is in a suit.”
Preston looked at his uniform, “… shit. A suit? Fuck.”
“You didn't even look in the box, did you?”
“What box?!”
“The box with your name on it? Compliments of Anne Hargraves?”
Preston rushed to the box on the dresser Sturges was pointing to, opened it, and said, “…oh.”
Sturges rolled his eyes, “Man sees a custom made suit and he says ‘oh.’ Hustle, boss, the bride's waiting.”
“Don't let Danse hear you call him the bride.”
“Don't think he's gonna care, now hurry up. What the hell have you been doing in here?”
“Thinking. Pacing. Mostly thinking. Is he really waiting?”
Sturges glanced out the window, “He just stepped outside, folks are talking, you're not that late.”
“Late to my own wedding. Holy shit I'm having a wedding.”
Sturges smirked, “Sure are, boss. Kinda surprised Danse suggested it.”
“So was I. But it seemed important and… and yeah, I wanna spend the rest of my life with him. I love him.”
“This what you were thinking about when you should have been getting dressed?”
Preston laughed a little, sheepish, “Yeah. Still can't believe… any of it. That this is how my life is turning out.”
He looked in the mirror. The blue suit fit perfect, the grey vest reminding him of the Minutemen flag. He straightened the tie, it had been ages since he’d worn one, and Sturges put a hand on Preston’s shoulder.
“Glad you stuck with us, Preston.”
Preston smiled, “So am I.”
Sturges grinned, “C'mon lover boy, let's get you out there. Rest of your life is waiting.”
.......................
I’ve seen multiple weddings, some of which I was even invited to, and this one surpassed them all by far. The unbridled joy on their faces after the wedding kiss was a sight to behold. They didn’t leave each other’s side the entire evening. Preston even taught Danse to dance, a simple slow sway to a song on the radio, but dance just the same. Stories were told, multiple people produced packs of cards, the wine flowed freely, as well as some stronger substances courtesy of Mayor Hancock, but he also kept stock of who had had enough. The night was growing late when Preston suddenly interrupted Danse recounting a battle to a handful of recruits to kiss him, deeply. Danse’s expression completely changed, the recruits giggled maniacally, and set to ensure the newlyweds would leave the party immediately and unhindered.
“About time,” Valentine said to me as Danse and Preston hurried home. As I laughed, he put his arm around my shoulders, “Why haven’t we ever done this?”
“I am perfectly content to support my friends, but I can’t imagine being the focus of such an event.”
“We could always elope.”
I smiled, “Do you have a sudden desire to get married, Nick?”
He chuckled, “Not particularly, Sherlock. Just a question we never asked, is all.”
“I see. In that case, Nick Valentine, do you promise to have me as your partner, to love, comfort, and honor, in sickness and in health, as long as we both shall live?”
He smiled, small, and his eyes seemed to glow a little brighter. “I do.”
It is strange the emotion that so simple a phrase can elicit. “So do I.”
We left the party, made sure our son was sound asleep in bed, and followed the example of the newlyweds.
I am not so naive as to think the future will be easy. The Minutemen have made great progress, but there are still plenty of cold and bitter hearts and minds in the Commonwealth. Yet no matter what challenges we may face, no matter how strong the winds of conflict and war, as long as there are people who value compassion and justice before all else then a cleaner, stronger land will lie in the sunshine when the storm has cleared. We'll make sure of it.

Now that we have all the time in the world, filling it up with movies has become an organized quest, and lists of useful movies have proliferated online. Some of them seek to cheer us up - classic comedies, vintage musicals, all happier times, of course - or to put our desperation in perspective with dystopian exercises like 12 monkeys, Mad Max, The road, And so on.I want to offer something different: a list of bizarre movies that were underrated at the time of their release and that have remained undiscovered since. Some of these movies, like the 2009 Jennifer's body, have undergone a critical reassessment and are now considered to be adorable cult films. The others have also developed cults, of one size or another, but are still waiting for the large-scale love they deserve.Jennifer's body (2009)The critical indifference to this high school horror comedy was disconcerting. (He scored 44% rotten on Rotten Tomatoes.) Diablo Cody's script - a marvel of sexy sarcasm - was the sequel to his first script for the 2007 hit Juno (whose director, Jason Reitman, is one of the producers here). And the star, Megan Fox, of the mega-budget transformers franchise, delivered a luscious parody of its own image of sexual puppet. Fox plays incumbent Jennifer, a snooty cheerleader who falls into the clutches of an independent group called Low Shoulder, whose members are desperate to make it big and have decided to sacrifice a virgin in order to enlist Satan as their manager. Unfortunately, since Jennifer is not virgin in every sense of the word, the group's ritual attempt goes awry badly and a newly launched demonic Jennifer is soon embarked on a bloody rampage. Amanda Seyfried effectively cuts her own movie star look to play Needy, Jennifer’s geek friend, and Chris Pratt, Amy Sedaris and J.K. Simmons is also on site. (Now streaming on Amazon, YouTube, iTunes, etc.)Surveillance (2008)Going back after one of the most hated beginnings in recent film history: the oddity of amputation in 1993 Helena Boxing- director Jennifer Lynch (daughter of David) directed this really scary serial killer feature. Bill Pullman and Julia Ormond play a pair of FBI agents lured to a slaughter site in Nebraska's hinterland, where they interact with bent cops and young drug addicts and search in vain for reliable witnesses. (There is one, but she is 11 years old, and who wants to hear what a child has to say?) The film has a dark and sunny atmosphere and a most disturbing conclusion. He scored a lame 55% on Rotten Tomatoes and has yet to attract many second looks. It is never too late, however. (Now streaming on Amazon and Netflix)Fountain (2006)Some - well, many - Darren Aronofsky's masterpiece, which made time stumble, was a pretentious romance. But it is a film of spectacular beauty which has constantly accumulated new admirers. Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz play Tom and Isabel, a couple whose love never dies. In 16th century Spain, she is a queen who sends her on a mission to the New World to find the Mayan tree of life. 500 years later - now - he is a scientific researcher looking for a cure for cancer that kills Isabel, who in this incarnation is his wife. He learns of the existence of an ancient tree in Central America whose bark could be the remedy he seeks. In the year 2600 AD, we find Tom ascending through the heavens in a transparent bubble boat containing a large tree. The glorious effects of space in this film are large explosions of microscopic chemical reactions (the work of optical systems developer Peter Parks) and the magnificent score by Clint Mansell could become a permanent part of your life. (Streaming on Amazon, YouTube and Vudu)The midnight meat train (2008)Critics liked this horrible horror movie a little more than the audience, perhaps because Lionsgate emptied the image unofficially in second-run cinemas and few people could see it. Bradley Cooper is a stormy photojournalist named Leon, who tells of the inhabitants of the night in an unspecified big city (it's L.A.). He becomes aware of a mysterious subway train that does not operate until midnight, and naturally he wants to know more. It's an idea as bad as you imagine. Terribly horrible things hit the passengers on this train, all distributed by a brute swinging with a mallet called Mahagony (the naturally terrifying Vinnie Jones). Bloody violence is not lacking (the film is based on a story by Clive Barker), but the Japanese director, Ryuhei Kitamura, really excels in creating tension and fear, and also in the editing oh-my-God. (Streaming on Netflix and Amazon)The brothers are blooming (2008)This second feature by Knives out Director Rian Johnson is an eccentric fairy tale with boundless charm. A pair of conmen brothers (Adrien Brody and Mark Ruffalo) make the mistake of trying to defraud a wacky heiress (Rachel Weisz), who counts among his hobbies kung fu, power ping pong and chainsaw juggling (on stilts), and who would love to become a scammer herself. The image is floating all over central Europe, but even with the brothers bringing in an expert in daffy explosives called Bang Bang (Rinko Kikuchi), we feel that the big ass they planned in Prague will not work well. They should have felt something wrong when their brand observed: "The trick to not being cheated is to learn to cheat." (Streaming on Amazon and Vudu)Black dynamite (2009)A wonderfully crazy tribute to the blax exploitation films of the 70s. Michael Jai White is perfect as a holder of Black Dynamite, a CIA agent returning from Vietnam who intends to put an end to some bad villains who are channeling the heroine in the ghetto. There's also a disturbing new brand of malt liquor that has hit the streets, a range of pimps and slippers and vintage purple clothing, martial arts and very low-cost car chases, and a ridiculous crime lord. called Fiendish Dr. Wu. There are also a lot of nice lines (delimiting the comic strip luxury pad, a character says, "You must have an eight track in each room"). Director Scott Sanders made this film in three weeks (and then turned it into an animated series on Adult Swim). He should work much more than he does. (Streaming on Amazon, Netflix and Vudu)Hancock (2008)Released at the dawn of the age of the cinematographic superhero (the same year Iron Man inaugurated the MCU), Hancock seemed to confuse the critics with his relatively subtle combination of understated humor and real emotion. Despite the presence of Will Smith and Charlize Theron, the film bombed. It deserves another chance. Smith plays a super guy called John Hancock, who has the usual powers of flight, strength and immortality. John does a lot of good in the world, but he also causes a lot of collateral property damage, for which he is very unhappy. So he became an alcoholic living on the streets of LA. An admiring PR man named Ray (Jason Bateman) tries to help him and does so; but then John meets Ray's wife (Charlize Theron), and the film suddenly takes a wild and unexpected turn. It is definitely worth a try. (Streaming on Amazon, Netflix and Vudu)The fall (2006)Although he already made a feature film in 2000, the horribly distinctive sci-fi horror film The cell- Indian director Tarsem Singh continued to win most of his live commercials. He brilliantly decided to use the globetrotter required by this profession to make another film, at his leisure. This resulted, after four years, in The fall, an extremely outrageous and amazingly beautiful fantasy film shot in Cambodia, Italy, Indonesia, Bolivia and China, among other remote locations. It is a film about the stories and their stories and the heroes they need; but it is essentially a vast sea of surreal images in which the spectators are invited to plunge their heads. There is really nothing else like it. (Streaming on Netflix and Amazon)High sky (2005)Will Stronghold (Michael Angarano) is a teenager living in the shadow of his superhero parents. His father, Steve (Kurt Russell), is a successful real estate guy best known in super circles like The Commander; his mother, Josie (Kelly Preston), is the famous supersonic Jetstream. Will does not seem to have his own powers, so he is afraid of entering Grade 9 at Sky High, where the descendants of superheroes are classified into two categories: some will become superheroes themselves, others - the losers of the super-lottery of life - will make him become acolytes. It's a Disney film, so family oriented, but also witty and trendy (thanks mainly to Russell, a Disney veteran who made his first film for the company in 1968). Mary Elizabeth Winstead plays the villain Royal Pain and the principal of Sky High is, wonderfully, Lynda Carter. (Streaming on Amazon and Vudu)Where the truth lies (2005)Originally released with an NC-17 rating due to its unusually frank sex scenes, this finely blackish film by writer-director Atom Egoyan is a puzzle-thriller that deserves more attention than it has ever received. . It focuses on Lanny Morris (Kevin Bacon) and Vince Collins (Colin Firth), a famous comedy duo (think of Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis) who suddenly broke up in 1957, without any explanation, after the discovery of the body of a woman who died in Miami in the tub of their New Jersey hotel suite. Years later, a young journalist named Karen O'Connor (Alison Lohman) agrees to work with Vince as a negro on her autobiography, hoping to get to the bottom of the mystery of the breakup. Then she meets Lanny, and things get very, very complicated. The film has a wonderful retro perverse air, and Bacon and Firth are downright disreputable as they had never been before. "no..." preston began, all the energy and any fight he had in him suddenly draining out as she spoke. he couldn't pretend anymore that she just didn't care about it all, because she obviously had, and maybe still did. she had invited him out, and that was evidence enough for him. and he had agreed, which told him he still cared, too. "no, it's not your fault...not just your fault." he began, pressing his lips together tightly as he glanced at her. a moment of hesitation later, and he was taking a step closer to her, lowering his voice to not break the illusion that they were a happy couple. "i...i coulda been better, too. i'm not saying...i was perfect."
"so what, it's my fault because you wanted to stick your head in the sand and pretend that nothing was wrong rather than face reality?" isabel scoffed. "i tried." she repeated. "it is not my fault that you didn't notice until it was too late." by that point she had snapped, she hadn't been willing to put up with it any longer, and so she had left. perhaps it had looked as though she hadn't been willing to fight, but only because she had been fighting for months already and she had nothing left to give.

preston leaned back as isabel moved closer, but he couldn't help the small sense of pride that he had gotten a rise out of her. it was clear that she had been trying to compose herself all evening, and now that bubble was burst. he saw her lean away, try to regain some of her composure, but preston wasn't done. "you were the only one who thought anything was broken, isabel." he retorted, hand gripping tightly onto the shot glass. "my stupid ass thought everything was fine, until it clearly wasn't." he lifted the shot, downed it, then gestured vaguely between them with the empty glass. "and then it was obviously too late."
"i did try!" isabel hissed furiously, leaning forward, incensed by the suggestion that she hadn't. "for months i tried to fix what you refused to acknowledge was broken." she stared at him in disbelief and then, when she remembered where they were, she leaned back and attempted to smooth her features into something a little more neutral. she had a lot more to say, but this was not the time nor the place, and what difference would it make anyway? "but of course, blame me. as always, nothing is ever your fault."

his eyes flickered down to the glass in her hands, then watched as she brought it to her lips, before he cleared his throat and glanced away. her first comment had him rolling his eyes, and then he let out a scoff. "you wouldn't know how i acted, because you were out the damn door as soon as you could be." he tapped his hand against the counter, signaling to the bartender. "shot, please. whatever you got."
isabel fixed him with a pointed look that said yes, she did think he was that much of a dick. then she brought her glass to her lips and downed what was left of her drink. she was going to need a lot more if they were to get through the evening. "i don't know, because i wanted some privacy? sorry i didn't rush to let everyone know that i'm single, like i'm sure you did."

preston paused, but only for a moment, before he took another sip of his drink. "i'm not going to just leave you here to get hit on by some gross, old guy." he glanced over at her, raising an eyebrow slightly. "don't need to give you any more ammo to shit talk me to your friends. speaking of...weren't any of them available to come with you tonight? i just can't imagine i was your first choice."
isabel rolled her eyes and raised her glass so that she could take a sip. it didn't take a genius to work out why they had broken up -- they seemed to bring out the worst in each other. "be my guest." isabel retorted, plastering a smile to her face that contradicted her tone when she remembered they were very much in public. "nothing would make me happier."

"you know what? you're absolutely right." preston responded, fingers gripped tight around his glass as he looked at her. he was never usually this mean, this petty. he wasn't the nicest guy in the world, and he could certainly be rude, if provoked enough; but no one provoked him like isabel. "i will gladly leave your ass here, if that's what you want."
isabel raised an eyebrow at preston's retort, a mixture of irritation and resignation evident in her expression. their exchanges had become all too predictable. "you know, you didn't have to come. no one forced you into this." she bit back, against her better judgement. there wasn't any point in arguing, it never got them anywhere, but she couldn't seem to help herself.

"yeah fucking right..." preston muttered, picking up the shot glass placed in front of him, and throwing it back, before returning the empty glass to the bar. he gestured for a refill, before he turned his attention back to isabel, a sour look on his face. "can we please not pretend like you even tried to fix anything?" he shot back, knowing that addressing her questions would have been a bad idea. "you act like it was my choice." he shook his head bitterly, body turning away from isabel. he glanced to the refilled shot glass, but couldn't bring himself to reach for it.
isabel met preston's gaze with a sense of exasperation. "i didn't leave because i wanted to." she snapped, stung by the implication that she had been looking for an excuse to get out of there. "what choice did i have? we were over -- would you have wanted me to stay?" the fact that they couldn't get through a single evening together was perhaps evidence enough that breaking up had been the right decision, whether they liked it or not.

"if you can try to take that stick out of your ass." preston retorted, the insult flowing out of his mouth easily. conversations like this were basically like second nature to them both at this point; there had once been a time when preston thought they brought out the best in each other, but that wasn't the case anymore. he takes a hearty sip of his rum and coke, then shrugs. "if i have to smile at you? maybe."
open to: m/f/nb plot: our muses broke up but are attending an event together bc they don’t want to tell people yet
“can you at least try to look like you’re enjoying yourself?” isabel snapped through the facade of a smile. maybe attending the event together hadn’t been the smartest of ideas. it had seemed like a good idea at first, if only to ward off awkward questions, but given that they were unable to stand the mere sight of each other it didn’t bode well for the rest of the evening. “i mean, would it kill you to smile?”

"oh, c'mon --" he began softly, hand helplessly raising, "you can't really think i'm that much of a dick." he kept his gaze on her for a moment, before releasing a sigh and raking a hand through his hair. he began to open his mouth to speak again, when she beat him to it, and a scoff fell off his lips. "un...believable." he shook his head. "are you serious? why the hell not?"
"what do you care who hits on me?" isabel bit back, incensed by the seemingly nice gesture -- it was a lot easier to hate him when he was actively being a dick. she rolled her eyes but didn't confirm not deny that she had spent a considerable amount of time shit talking him to her friends -- and that was while they had still been together. "i don't know, i didn't ask them." she avoided his gaze. "i haven't...i haven't told anyone that we've broken up. if we hadn't come together tonight people would start to wonder and honestly, i just don't have the energy to deal with it right now."
