He could understand that. While he had been around quite a few power hungry people in the past, there were few that bothered to think about those under them.... at least when it came to ones that he worked for. It just made the assassin more sure that he was making the right choice aiding her.
Natsumi may be power hungry but she's not needlessly rude. Botan has done so much for her these last few months so she has no problem doing what really feels like a small gesture in comparison but means alot.

kokichi as part of the kuzuryu family
so i learned that my kaede post is actually hidden in my account because i never put it in my masterlist
gosh i am so horrible with my account upkeep
i also learned i kind of absolutely adore this au ??? like more than i adore the kaede post - mod kokichi
- the moment kokichi found out that his actual parents were the leaders of the biggest mafia organization in japan
- the first thing he did was,, well, get excited
- because maybe it / wasn't / a lie that he's the ultimate supreme leader of an evil secret organization with over ten thousand members
- and then the second he thinks about it, he gets scared
- i mean, there / was / a reason that he was sent away to be adopted
- what if they didn't want ? what if it was more dangerous than he thought it was ?
- the anxiety in him started to freak out, but he kept a calm and chilled presence around anyone
- no one was allowed to know that he was scared out of his mind of getting shot
- he, in reality, hated violence
- pranks and jokes are meant to share laughs and a few scoldings, they're not intended to hurt anyone
- the day he came to visit his biological family, he felt hella out of place
- everyone looked at him as if he were a piece of trash
- his own biological mother, who looked much more like him that his father actually did, didn't rejoice in having her son back
- the second he came in, he was rushed into more " fitting " clothes than his tattered clothes from the orphanage
- and he was swept away into the work, without a briefing of his actual duties
- the person he met that guided him through everything was peko, who seemed a little too used to showing newcomers their job
- he felt a little bad for her, because it was obvious she'd never genuinely smiled for longer than a few minutes
- and then he met his two brothers, mondo and fuyuhiko
- mondo was the leader of the bikers, and his personality showed that
- and fuyuhiko was the heir to the mafia throne
- natsumi and fuyuhiko looked like twins to kokichi, but in fact, they weren't
- the ages went mondo, peko, fuyuhiko, natsumi, and then kokichi, the youngest
- fuyuhiko, upon meeting his brother, treated him a little kinder than the rest
- he cursed, yes, and warned kokichi not to get too buddy-buddy with anyone here
- but he was nice enough to help kokichi understand what he was to do
- and that was,,, nothing
- kokichi wasn't there to participate in the mafia, but rather to appease their mother, who'd missed her son greatly
- even though,, it did not look like she missed him very much
- perhaps it was because he didn't satisfy her after all ?
- mondo was a little colder, warning that if he made one wrong move, he would be dead in an instant
- he wasn't very fond of outsiders just suddenly showing up and proclaiming blood
- even though kokichi did look like his mother
- he wasn't born into this life, therefore he could have no idea what it was like to live in it
- kokichi could have been softhearted and ratted them all out to the police, for all mondo knew
- and he didn't want to take that chance
- natsumi was arrogant, laughing that kokichi was lower than even the underlings of the mafia to the family
- he had no official title, nor did he have the small tattoo on his body that bonded him to the family
- she thought that, until he took off his bandana from his neck to reveal the marking that was given to him at birth, small on the side of his neck
- she shut up after that, and treated him more as a colleague from school than an actual family member
- perhaps that was because she didn't want him to be involved with all of the mafia's mess, after all
- peko disliked him originally
- she wasn't too big of a fan of his antics
- he was loud, and wasn't arrogant but acted as if he knew everything that was going on when there was no possible way that he did
- she didn't understand him, so she didn't like him
- it would come to pass that he was acting in such a way because he felt so wrong about the situation
- peko would immediately sympathize with his position, because in truth, they were almost int he same place
- no official title, just sort of a part of the family without meaning to be
- peko was the tool, kokichi was, in essence, the pet of the clan
- they were both disposable, and she understood that her way of dealing with things wasn't his way
- they wouldn't bond per say, but they would mutually understand each other as time passed
- i don't actually think that kokichi could form very strong bonds with his family members, and instead opted to find a few friends
- fuyuhiko, mondo, and natsumi would grow to be compliant with his addition to the family, and treated him as such
- they were rather protective of their brother, just in their own way
- it's not that they didn't care, they just didn't come to be very good " friends " with him because he still had a choice in his life to leave the mafia one day
- at least, that's what they thought
- but the blood flows through him
- and the tattoo rests on his neck, forever etched into his skin
- he would never be able to escape, no matter how hard he tried as he got older
- even when kokichi thinks he ran, he cannot hide away from them
- the family will always control his life
- there's really no escape until he dies

Happy Birthday to my wonderful Husband!
He blushes a bit, happy that she remembered even if it wasn't a surprise at all. With how long they had been together, it seemed impossible for either to forget.
"Thank you, Natsu. I appreciate it."

@twilight-blonde-beauty asked: It was a day Botan knew was coming and had been hinted at subtlety before. Natsumi Kuzuryuu's birthday had come again. This was the third birthday they would celebrate together of hers. Natsumi herself was asleep in bed, not one to get up early on her birthday so it was up to him to wake her up.
He got up at his usual time, and while he would normally be immediately out of bed doing warm up exercises and taking care of what he needed to, he spent a few moments debating on getting her up before carefully getting out of bed to make sure everything for the day was prepared. For her birthday, he had made some reservations earlier in the year for a hot spring and a nice restaurant for later that day, so he was fine with letting her sleep in while he did some chores.

"In some ways... the parts where I tend to the dead instead of studying them is certainly rather busy at times."
There was always someone dying, and whether it was autopsies or funeral work, she had something to do outside of her research.
Hey, someone's gotta do it. It's necessary work. Personally, after my own brush with death around two years ago I try not to think about it. I bet your services are in high demand...well because they would be naturally, right?
Natsumi asks, she doesn't see anything wrong with it really.

@twilight-blonde-beauty continued from here
He blushes a little at that. While he didn't normally allow himself to have any, leave it to her to see right through him, the only person that was able to do that was Masao...
"I see, thank you, Natsu."

Happy Valentines day my beloved Botan~
The samurai had just gotten done with lessons for the day when she showed up. He paused a moment before setting aside the supplies he had been putting away.
"Ah, happy Valentine's day to you as well, my princess."

Angst starter for @twilight-blonde-beauty
Of course, the news of Botan and Natsumi's wedding was quick to reach the ears of Naosuke Yamashiro. The head of the clan didn't send word of congratulations to the happy couple, of course not. It was more of summons to visit their family home in Kanazawa. While he was happy to go back to the city for their honeymoon, he was less than pleased that they would have to go to his ancestral home. The threat of being disinherited weighed heavy on his mind, and while he didn't necessarily need the money that was guaranteed with his grandfather's death, it was a matter of pride that he attained it despite the odds that were against him from the beginning.
Masao agreed to take the two, of course, though instead of falling asleep on the way there as he normally would, anxiety clawed at him in a way that not even the presence of the two people he cared for the most could make go away, and as they arrived, the florist reaches out to him, making Botan sigh deeply and squeeze his hand back before getting out with Natsumi. The mansion is utterly beautiful, a perfectly intact piece of history that was the pride of their family, something that he would inherit once his grandfather passed as the only child of the main family.
As he stares at his home, he looks over at his wife. Were it up to him, they would never come here, but he couldn't run away from it forever, as much as she loathed it.
"Are you ready to face my family, Natsu?"

He could be persuaded to at the very least, though where his thoughts would be is an entirely different story, though. That said, though, he was glad that he got to be less emotionally repressed when he was with Natsumi. The only other person in his life he was allowed that with was Masao, so this was rather precious to him.
Natsumi follows as she also smiles, there is something about seeing him excited that really resonates with her. His grandfather might push him to be emotionally distant but with Natsumi he can live as his true self. Perhaps they could do something cheesy like lay in the grass and look at clouds? Would he even be into that?

@twilight-blonde-beauty sent in: It was the day of Natsumi and Botan's wedding, it was a nice little event without some of the usual fineries of the larger weddings. There wasn't thousands spent on catering or an event space, the wedding was taking place in an open field.
It had taken a lot of planning, but he was pleasantly surprised with how it had turned out. Some of his classmates, namely Amai, Ayane, and Masao, had offered to help out with some things just to make sure they would have everything stay within a reasonable price and just because they got rather excited when they heard there was going to be a wedding.
With the few classmates that he invited there as his guests along with Misaki, there was really no one else on his side there for the wedding, but he was rather excited, either way, to be marrying Natsumi.

“Heh guess you do. Congrats.” He chuckles finishing his own.
After such a long night, one thing Fuyuhiko knew was that he was exhausted. He wipes his eye with a yawn when he wakes up before turning over to North and suddenly going red realizing what happened the other night. “Oh..r-right..” he mumbles not wanting to wake him.

The reminder makes Kokichi smile a little.
"Awwwwww... That's my Dammy for you..."
"Then he better not put his disgusting fucking hands on any kids. Got it, Kokichi?!"
"I've got two kids of my own! Why would I hurt them?"
Event: Killing Game
It had been almost a month since the Warriors Of Hope had been last seen. It was as if they had completely vanished into thin air, and no one had seen or heard from them since. That was until…
One morning, your muse(s) woke up in a room. They vaguely remembered being kidnapped the previous evening, but their head hurt to think of it any further. But when they made their way out of the room, they were greeted by sixteen other faces. Not all of them looked very friendly, but five stood out: the missing Warriors Of Hope whose faces had been all over the news were there, arguing with some of the adults and each other, yet they could all seem to agree on one thing: an adult was to blame for this.
“Which of you Demons is to blame for this?!” the fiery redhead of the bunch shouted. He seemed very agitated, his looks and personality identical to that of Masaru Daimon. The former Li'l Ultimate P.E., who had revoked his talent in order to give the Demons a taste of their own medicine. Of course, by now, most people were aware that the group had split up. “I’ll kill you all! I swear to god, I’ll kill you all!”
“Wait, Masaru,” the calm and collected voice of another young boy sounded. His words seemed to temporarily stun the athlete, who turned to scowl at his former friend. Nagisa Shingetsu, the Li'l Ultimate Social Studies, another who had been grossly mistreated and whose abusers had paid the price in blood. “That’s exactly what they want. You don’t think this place resembles some of Fath… of Mr. Monokuma’s stories?”
“Uu… I don’t wanna be here…” the softer boy moaned. He started rubbing his sleeves together, desperately hoping that it could take his mind off of it. “I want to leave…”
“We’re not going to get to leave,” the pink-haired girl stated harshly. She started to twirl her hair between her fingers anxiously, breathing a sigh of anxiety. “We’re stuck here. Best we can do is avoid these Demons before they try something. We all know they will.”
“GAAAAAH…!” the small green-haired girl screamed. She started to bang on the walls with her fists, hoping the walls would cave or someone would hear the commotion outside and come to let them out. “Open! Open! OPEN! Or else Monaca will kill everyone here!”
The people around, staring at the group of kids were also quite easily identified. Ryoko Otonashi… Ryota Mitarai… Sonosuke Izayoi… Miaya Gekkogahara… Seiko Kimura… Ruruka Ando… Sato… Aiko Umesawa… Natsumi Kuzuryuu… Mirai Maizono… Kaori Akamatsu…
What do you do?

It isn't needed, though he does appreciate her consideration towards him. There aren't many people that he had that in his past, though he was glad that... she was different.
Natsumi doesn't want him to be uncomfortable so she scrounges together blankets and pillows for him to better sleep. Natsumi takes them out and places them on the couch not saying a word before she leaves knowing he'll make himself comfortable.

"Very well, I'll be on the couch. If you need something, don't hesitate to ask."
He says before starting to leave the room. It seemed like the best place to keep watch along with giving her privacy. Though, if she wanted him to stick around, then he would do as she asked.
Now, yea, I think i should sleep or something. I don't have no grand plan, i'll think on my feet and improvise shit.
Natsumi replies, she still couldn't help being drawn to Botan; probably because he's the first guy to treat her decent in this whole affair and that's something she likes.

"I see, that would be the more likely scenario should the former head still be alive, though you have escaped that fate... and now, you have options for the future."
Admittedly this new situation was one that he could relate to, but due to his involvement, he was stuck with her, even if he hadn't already planned on staying.
Natsumi wouldn't have made him if she knew of it preferring him to be comfortable most of all. Once she finishes with her son she lays him in the crib she brought with her to rest up.
To be honest, i really never thought i'd be in these shoes. I thought i'd be toiling away in obscurity aside from another 3 or 4 Yakuza brats popping out of me.

Slightly uncomfortable as it was to get fully dressed after a shower, he had put on his clean clothes after getting out just to ensure that he would be decent when coming out.
"It was enjoyable enough."
While he had ensured that his employers were gone, he wouldn't put it past those that used their services or were still loyal to them to take the opportunity, but for now, he was content to merely keep his guard up in general rather than seeking out a specific threat to them.
How was it?
She goes to make small talk, he's really the only person she can talk to right now. Botan is right to keep his guard up now that tensions seem to be at an all time high. Just as he has settled scores with his previous "employers" many have scores to settle with the Shizuoka clan and may use the opportunity provided by the two of them to do so.
