Wentworth Miller was born in 1972, in England to American parents. The family moved to America when he was one year old. At the age of 23, he moved to LosAngeles to pursue acting.
“There were a lot of upsets and a lot of failures and roadblocks, but I couldn't walk away from it. I needed it like I needed air, it was just something I had to do."
He got a break in 1998 playing a teen-turned-sea-monster in an episode of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”. Then his first starring role in the 2002 miniseries “Dinotopia”.

His first major film was “The Human Stain” which starred Anthony Hopkins. He played a young version of Hopkins’ character when it was reveal he was a African man passing for white. At this time Miller revealed that although his mother was white, his father was of African descent.

Most people probably know Miller from his iconic television series. He played Michael Scofield in “Prison Break” 90 episodes across 5 seasons. The character broke his brother (played by Dominic Purcell) our if prison using plans he tattooed on his body.

His second major TV role was on the CW’s “The Flash” where he played the super villain Leonard Snart (aka Captain Cold). This led to a co-starting role on “Legends of Tomorrow” where he was reunited with Dominic Purcell who plays the villain Heat Wave.
Rumors arose because Miller was frequently seen in the company of actor Luke MacFarland. InStyle magazine asked him in 2007, "There are rumors that you prefer men." Wentworth replied:
“I'm not gay, but that rumor can't be killed. I'd like to have a girlfriend... (but) until then I'm focusing on my job. I had to wait so long for this chance I savor every second on set even if it means 14 hours of shooting a day."
(Luke MacFarland came out as gay in 2008.)
By 2010, Miller wrote the screenplay for “Stoker” under an assumed name because it wanted it to be judged on it own, without the influence of his celebrity. The script was voted to the 2010 "Black List" of the 10 best unproduced screenplays in Hollywood.
The script (a psychological thriller) was produced in 2013 staring Nicole Kidman and Mia Wasikowska. Because of the film, Miller was invited to attend Saint Petersburg International Film Festival. Miller declined and used this moment to reveal he was gay. Russia had enacted a law that banned “propaganda of nontraditional sexual relations". Miller said in an open letter on the GLAAD website:
“I cannot in good conscience participate in a celebratory occasion hosted by a country where people like myself are being systematically denied their basic right to live and love openly.”
The same year, Miller also revealed that he had suffered from depression since childhood, including considering suicide. People had made fun of his weight gain in 2010. He explained his weight gain was a result him finding comfort in food as he was suicidal.

On Facebook he later elaborated:
“(I have) struggled with depression since childhood. It's a battle that's cost time, opportunities, relationships, and a thousand sleepless nights."

He provided links to suicide prevention hotlines him hopes of helping other who felt the same desperation.
