How to Use a Personal Loan as an Emergency Medical Loan in 2023?
India has an alarming rate of emergencies daily. A study by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the National Crime Records Bureau and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways found that 300,000 contingencies occurred in India daily in 2007. Out of this, 80% were medical emergencies leading to death within the first hour. 2020 saw the COVID-19 pandemic, which was the worst in US history surpassing the Spanish flu deaths. This was one of the deadliest medical crises and has not yet been officially declared ‘over’ by the WHO.

big respect to all of you fellow leftists who very morally and self-analytically say things like "if i came into wealth my lifestyle wouldn't even change, i would still eat instant ramen every day and watch tv" like that's very noble of you but could NOT be me. if i had endless money i'd be throwing that stuff around. paying off my friends' medical debts and student loans and donating to charity yes, but i also want a waterslide in my house and a ridiculously decked out home cinema and a fully staffed petting zoo and a LAN party computer lab. does this align with my beliefs about how excess wealth and assets should be distributed? absolutely not. do i get childishly excited over the idea of a backyard rollercoaster regardless? yes. i want a loop de loop with fireworks and sound effects.

How is it that I work in healthcare, yet can't afford my own health care?
How is it that I have a 401k, yet can't borrow money from myself to repay to myself?
How is it that a bank can lose an instant transfer, and refuse all accountability, including replacing the money that never reached where it was supposed to go?
How is it that 1/4 of my paycheck goes to health insurance that doesn't cover any of my day to day medical expenses?
How is it that in spite of my health issues making it difficult to function at even a minimal level, I continue to work full time, yet I'm perpetually cash poor, no matter how carefully I spend my money?
The answer is relatively simple... I was born into a low-income family, and the cycle of poverty is alive and thriving.
In spite of the fact that I had finally gotten to a point of relative financial security, garnishment by a loan shark dragged me back into the red, and has kept me there.
I'm unable to get any sort of personal loan because my credit is terrible - because when I was a young adult who had lived a life with very little material comfort, credit card companies swooped in and promised me things that I couldn't afford, and I was too young and stupid to think to say no.
Our country is very much invested in the concept of "the rich get richer as the poor get poorer." Those with money can get financed with lower rates, buy more reliable cars and afford repairs, buy newer homes, etc., while those without money are charged exorbitant amounts for any type of credit, when they can get it at all. And that's not even getting into the cost and availability of healthcare, preventative care, etc.
Our system is absolutely fucked, y'all. "If there is hope, it lies within the proles," yet we are beaten down and down and down to the point of despair. No matter how hard we try to claw our way out, some fucker in a suit is waiting to kick us back down, while saying "You just aren't working hard enough."
This is some legitimate fuckery, and why I'm a socialist. Capitalism only works for the people who were born ahead to begin with; the rest of us are merely expendable cogs in the machine that keep this shit going so that the people with money can continue to enjoy the spoils of a system carried on the backs of the multitudes of people that it turns around and shits on.
There's no freedom in this - not for most of us.

The Robe and Crown: 4
Summary: Joel and the lovebirds return with a bit of theatrics. Series Masterlist.
Tumblr media
Content Warning: Again, all of the same warnings as earlier, but extra? Basically, if any of the last chapter was too much for you, this chapter will be, too. Shouldn’t be much more than that.
~~•~~
Dinner was venison again.
Not that anyone was going to complain about that—food was food, and it wasn’t like the meat was bad by any metric. You’d found a can of mixed vegetables in the kitchen stash and decided to make the closest thing to shepherd's pie that you could manage in your situation. After sitting for three years, the instant potatoes had a bit of a tough time forming together, but they would fill your stomach just the same.
Or rather, fill Tommy’s stomach. And Joel’s and Colin’s and the lovebirds’ stomachs. The simple smell of the food had you white-knuckling the counter from nausea.
You let the stewed meat and veggies cook slow, not knowing when the other half of your group would return from their expedition. The stove was electric—for better or worse—so you didn’t feel bad about setting the burner on low and focusing on other tasks while it slowly braised. The solar panels ensured that you weren’t wasting any fuel or wood, and there was no electricity bill, of course.
Of all the things you’d lost in the end of the world, the sun wasn’t one of them. It still rose and fell every day, regardless of who was left to see it.
The group returned shortly before dusk. For the most part, the trip had been a bust, but they managed to find some sleeping bags and other camping supplies, as well as some clothes for you that were designed for warmer weather. You’d take what you could get, though, considering all you had now was a robe and a few pairs of socks. The biggest find they had managed was more ammunition for everyone, but they hadn’t gotten it without a fight.
Joel and Isabelle were all but dragging Mateo inside as he clutched a wound on his thigh. It wasn’t deep, but it was broad, almost spanning the width of his leg. Someone had managed to wrap it tightly with scraps of cloth. Blood seeped through the cotton, though, and it was clear that he needed stitches before he passed out from the loss of blood.
“Get him on the table,” Tommy instructed as they came through the door. You were glad you hadn’t set it up like last night, only having to clear off a few utensils to make room for him. Matt groaned as his wife hoisted him up against the wood. More than worried or pained, he seemed disappointed. Tommy scrambled his way to the basement steps. “There’s a first aid kit in my pack. I’ll be right back with it.”
“What happened?” Colin asked. He seemed genuinely worried, much to your surprise.
“Damn runner came out of nowhere,” Mateo hissed. He threw his head back while Iz unwrapped his wound. “It was either get bit or jump a barbed-wire fence. Didn’t realize the fence had just as much bite as the infected.”
“Hold still,” Isabelle griped at him.
He grumbled. “This is as still as I can get.”
While you ran a clean rag under the sink to give to her, Joel let out an annoyed, breathy chuckle.
“I would’ve thought that a nurse would make a better patient than this.”
“You’re a nurse?” You heard yourself ask. It didn’t often occur to you anymore that people did things before the outbreak.
Being winded didn’t stop Mateo from brandishing a toothy grin. He made a show of glancing over at his wife. “Yeah, well, that’s not that impressive. Considering I never got accepted to medical school.”
“Should have partied less in nursing school, baby.” Isabelle rolled her eyes. You handed her the towel and Matt hissed when she started cleaning the blood from his gash.
“It was worth it in hindsight, though, wasn’t it?”
Iz chuckled. “You got me there. At least I don’t have to pay back my loans.”
Mateo looked up at you, distracting himself from the pain in his leg. Tommy appeared again wordlessly with a medical kit in-hand.
“Isabelle was in medical school at LSU before everything. Lucky thing we got a doctor here to patch us up, right?” He laughed, humorless.
Iz smiled. “I’m not quite a doctor.”
“The shit you’ve pulled us out of? I’d say you’ve earned that M.D. by now,” Joel quipped. Everyone in the room seemed in agreement with his comment.
You decided to leave the kitchen when she pulled the needle and thread from the bag.
Your appetite was already weak enough.
Trying your new clothes out, you layered up and headed outside in hopes that the cool, fresh air would calm your nerves. It started to work, too, as you leaned against the exterior wall and soaked in the sunset that had nearly lost all its color. Your chest lightened a bit with each slow, deep breath. You closed your eyes and let the wind whistle through your ears. The sound of branches tangling was like a tickle in your mind, the smell of nature keeping the cold from becoming biting.
You had no idea how long you stood there.
It was almost working. Until the knob of the door turned behind you, and you intuitively knew exactly which member of the group had decided to join you outside.
“Too queasy for the blood, huh?” Colin’s tone was amused. You hoped that dusk hid your flustered expression.
“Not the blood, I’m fine with the blood.” You tried to project your voice. “Just the needle.”
The grin on his face was patronizing. You elected to stare at the ground instead of him.
“The lovebirds are taking the downstairs bedroom tonight, on account of Matt’s leg. Tommy wanted the couch again, but Joel convinced him to go and sleep in a real bed.” His expression turned serious. You didn’t know why he was explaining this to you. What did it matter where people were sleeping?
Then it hit you, about the time that he spoke again.
“Look at me,” he said calmly.
You didn’t.
He tried again. “I said look at me.”
The next time, you got the feeling he wouldn’t ask nice. You slowly raised your head to meet his eyes. Even in the dark, you could see how they were frenzied.
“You might be a way for Joel to get his dick wet, but I’ve been around a lot longer than you. You get that?”
You swallowed. “Yes.”
He only stared at you.
Right.
“Yes, sir.” Your mouth was dry.
Colin huffed, bringing a steady hand underneath your chin. He held your head up, ensuring your eyes were on him.
“When I come upstairs tonight after dinner, I don’t wanna hear the begging and whining. The pity party won’t work with me like it does with him. You get on your knees and you wait for me, you understand? And you’ll do what I say—whatever I say—and you’ll keep your mouth shut.”
Your bottom lip felt slack. “Yes sir.”
“You wouldn’t wanna hurt his feelings anyway, right? Joel wouldn’t be too happy if he knew you were lettin’ us all use you like he does.”
Keeping your eyes open was all you could focus on. His gaze was seering and your clothes were too thin for the cold.
“Maybe hell come around. He seems to want to keep you, but I wouldn’t test him just yet.”
Shakily, you nodded against his grip.
“Now, be a good girl and put dinner on the table, just like you did before. Joel might even eat with us tonight.” He dropped his hand, making way for you to walk back inside.
You held your breath when you did.
“Is she alright?” Tommy called to Colin as he led you inside with his hand on your waist.
“Just lightheaded from skipping breakfast,” Colin smiled. You supposed that was as good of an excuse as any for the lack of color on your face. “Supper should help, I think.”
The table had been cleaned off and set with plates and forks. You looked confusedly at Isabelle, who was wrapping Matt’s now-sewn wound as he splayed on the couch. Clattering in the kitchen alerted you to the stove, where Joel was assembling the pie haphazardly.
He cleared his throat when he noticed your eyes on him.
“Figured I’d save you the trouble,” he said flatly. He lifted the serving dish in his hands, heading for the table. His voice was low. “I don’t much like watchin’ her do stitches either.”
“Thank you.” Your voice came out weaker than you wanted. He didn’t look at you again as he placed the food on the table.
When everyone settled in their chairs again, you bowed your head toward your plate. Maybe it looked like you were praying, or maybe everyone was too hungry to question you. Tommy sat beside you and he scooped a serving onto your plate when he noticed you hadn’t moved to do so yourself. A shared glance between him and Joel made your stomach twist again.
You pondered taking your plate and fork and running downstairs, hiding away from everyone like Joel had before.
The last thing you wanted was to be alone right now. All you wanted was to be alone right now.
Numbness crept in your fingertips, working its way up.
Joel’s expression was unreadable. He glanced around the table before settling on you again. “You know, the food won’t do you any good unless you eat it.”
You pressed your lips together in an awkward smile.
“I, for one, am gonna be liking my plate clean.” Mateo offered, more as an apparent effort to encourage you than a genuine rave review. Isabelle and Tommy tried not to stare.
You knew they must be getting concerned. They weren’t supposed to know that anything was off. You swallowed hard before dipping your fork into the food and bringing it up to your lips. A bit of tension visibly left Joel’s shoulders as you began to chew.
Eventually, a casual conversation sparked about the work Tommy had done on the roof. Lighthearted chuckles erupted around the table as he explained his fall from the roof. He was defensive of his choice to attempt to crawl inside the upstairs window. Everyone was slowly loosening up, filling their bellies and winding down after a stressful day for… well, almost everyone.
The numbness crawled up into your lungs. You realized you’d been staring a hole through Joel when he cleared his throat again, his plate empty.
“I think tomorrow we can all stay here,” he explained. He seemed decisive and on edge all at once. “Matt needs to recuperate. We can’t go anywhere with two injured people, or at least we shouldn’t. As unbelievable as it sounds, we could get away with doin’ absolutely nothing tomorrow, save for stoking the fire and keeping watch in rounds. We’ve earned a fuckin’ day off.”
Soft murmurs of agreement rang around the table.
Tommy shifted in his seat. “I don’t know if I remember how to do nothing. Been such a long time since we could just sleep through the night, let alone take the day off, too.”
“I don’t have a problem with doing nothing,” Colin countered.
Joel was still staring at you. You pretended not to notice. Surely he wasn’t meaning to, right? Even through the static feeling of nothing, your heart pattered unevenly with his eyes on you like that. You noticed that they were softer than you’d thought. Warm and dark and round… and soft. Maybe you were imagining it.
You were almost back to that place again. Your eyes hardly focused on anything, but you’d managed to eat your food at least. Not that you tasted any of it.
“If my leg wasn’t duct taped onto the rest of my body right now, I’d take another hot shower.” Mateo had finished his food by now, too.
Tommy scoffed. “Daily showers are another thing I’ll have to learn to feel normal about again.”
“I hope that you’re a quick learner,” Iz muttered, crinkling her nose. “That goes for all of you.”
Mateo smiled. “Time for Iz to bust out her hair routine again. I don’t miss waiting an hour for her to get out of the bathroom in the mornings.”
“I still think you would benefit from some curl cream, my love.”
He smiled before pecking her cheek.
You could feel it now, you were almost gone. There was no telling how long you had now before everyone turned in for the night. Tommy and Isabelle were scraping at the last bits of their meal. The urge to fill the sink with soapy water crept in the back of your mind. Habit. Maybe the routine would keep you away from the feelings.
“Are you gonna take a shower tonight then, Tommy?” Colin asked in passing while he stood from the table.
Your eyes followed him absently, and Joel’s eyes followed you. The ex-marine picked up the empty plate in front of him, as well as Joel’s. He rounded the table.
“I probably should after climbing the roof all day.”
Colin picked up Mateo’s plate, too. Iz was still eating. You squeezed your eyes shut again when he took another step. You were almost gone.
His voice was far away even though he stood right behind you. “Are you done with that?”
You were too far gone to think about it. When you answered him though, you knew what you’d done. Your eyes snapped open, and no one had noticed. Except for Joel, of course. There was no reason for anyone else to have noticed.
The words echoed in your head. So simple, so unassuming. Colin picked up the plate and continued to the sink without a second thought. The eyes that had lingered on you were now glancing wildly from you to the vet and back. Joel’s jaw tensed, and your blood ran cold.
“Yes sir.”

Will
If anyone asked Will Halstead what the best day of his life was, he’d answer the day he worked up the nerve to talk to Stevie Hammer. He was eight years old, and she’d been in his class for a week, scruffy and openly hostile towards everyone. She was also the prettiest girl he’d ever seen, and the fact she didn’t care about being rude to anyone was awe inspiring.
He watched her from the other side of the classroom for a week before he spoke to her. They were the last two kids in their grade left on the playground, and he knew one of the big girls from the dance school would be there to walk him and Jay over any minute. But Stevie would be left alone. So he invited her to dance class with him.
She joined in with the ballet, his little brother showing her the steps while Will prepared for his upcoming exam and got distracted by watching her. At the end of the class he saw her smile for the first time, and that was when he knew they were going to be good friends.
And they were. Rosie Halstead took the little girl her boys had taken an instant shine to under her wing, and the three kids were inseparable from there. Will helped her with dancing and she helped him with school, because as much as she hated it, she was good at it. Will watched as Stevie adopted his little brother as her own, and decided he wanted to be a doctor just like she did so they never had to leave each other’s side. They were so close they were practically the same person, sharing everything.
They probably shared a little too much. Some of his clothes were worn as frequently by Stevie as they were by Will himself and she spent almost as much time at his house as he and Jay did, but there was nobody he’d rather have shared any of that with. Nobody else he’d have wanted to have his bisexual crisis in tandem with when they were both sixteen. He couldn’t imagine the two of them ever not being so close.
And then Will got into college. So did Stevie, but she didn’t get the full ride she needed and while he could get loans, her mom’s circumstances meant she didn’t qualify. He almost didn’t go, but she pushed him, told him he had to for the both of them, that she’d work and do community college for a bit and transfer later. So, against his better judgment, he went.
The first two years at school were miserable without her and Jay, and he spent way too long counting down the days until they would next see each other. His one saving grace was that it was only two years until Stevie would transfer and he and his best friend would finally be properly reunited.
Only, she never joined him.
Right as she was supposed to, his brother joined the army and his mom got sick, and Stevie met someone at her community college. And Will started acting like someone he didn’t recognise so he didn’t have to think about any of it.
He partied and drank and had a series of ill advised hookups. Will’s mom got sicker, his baby brother fought a war, and he walked Stevie down the aisle to a man she’d known for six months.
He was just about accepted to medical school, his mom passed away, his brother came home changed, Stevie was married and his world was falling apart. Will lost the little composure he had from there. So he went out more, he drank more and partied more and scraped through his first year of med school by the skin of his teeth.
Then Stevie saw his transcripts, punched him in the stomach and told him he had to get his head out his ass and become a doctor for the both of them. Things got better from there. He drank less, called her and his brother more, especially after they both managed to get jobs in the same dance company.
Then Jay and Stevie’s company needed a resident doctor right as he was finishing med school. He’d done rotations in sports and emergency medicine, so he wasn’t surprised when an application was put in on his behalf. He was pretty sure Stevie and Jay bullied whoever was responsible for hiring into giving him the job, but he didn’t care. He was good at it. He learnt a lot from the mentors at the local hospital he was set up with, and he was back to spending every day side by side with the two people he loved most in the world, and everything felt like it was moving from better to okay. He was home.
He made pretty good friends with the company’s artistic director (who he did not have a crush on despite how objectively hot he was thank you very much Stevie) made some bad dating choices that weren’t quite as catastrophic as the hookups he’d favoured in college. He continued to work in the same building as three of them without any major issues, even managing to be good friends with one of them. He let Jay crash on his couch after his little brother got dumped, and rearranged his entire one bedroom apartment to accommodate three people after Stevie finally left her husband. They did both eventually move out after the three of them established that being close did not have to mean all sleeping in the same room like when they were kids.
Will was good. He had friends. He had his brother, and he had his Stevie. He was always good when he had her.
Unlike most of the other company staff, Will was actually excited when they were informed of the arrival of a new choreographer. That might have been because Will was a little bit of a fan of Ava Bekker’s, to the point where he had been watching the livestream of the performance where she had had her accident, and was looking forward to seeing what she was going to do with the company.

y'know i watch a lot of dave ramsey on my fb feed, ever since my parent sent me the video where a young couple had $750,000 worth of student loan and other debt. but like. although most of their advice is relatively okay/good for saving up and getting out of debt, the one piece of advice i take issue with today, mostly bc i feel like being pissed about something is "just get any job before you get THE job! you need work and money TODAY and also a side hustle if you have free time to watch netflix between 3 other jobs!"
like. i have been TRYING to just get ANY job for a year now, ever since i left my shitty and toxic asf traineeship/cadetship..... that made me so fucking anxious and stressed that i crashed my car so bad that i bashed in my back windscreen, my boot/trunk and knocked off my back wheels and exhaust pipe (and i also destroyed their multilevel parking.... and i refused to follow up on their building insurance to fix. ALSO my car is actually fine. my insurance fixed it lmao. it took like 3 whole months).
i've been trying for the past year ever since my shitty overly critical, controlling and micromanaging boss completely ruined my chance of a good stable job where i got BUMPED UP from trainee to a full admin assistant during the interview process..... all because i REFUSED to listen SPECIFICALLY to her and hr to be a disability/community support worker bc "tHeY'rE sOoOoOo DeSpErAtE fOr WoRkErS wHy DoN't YoU cArE!!!!????" and "SHE HAS THE WRONG PERSONALITY FOR ADMIN!!!!!" et al.... that she called me to demand to know EXACTLY what jobs i was applying for directly after she gave that bullshit reference report so she could guilt me to "use your (my) giving heart." *enter every tag rant i've made about this sitch on this hellsite here*
where people, performance and culture told me to get assessed and medicated for anxiety and depression. where one of the course coordinator ladies of the cert IV in housing course i did as part of this program told me to "hurry up and get assessed and medicated for ADHD bc it's ruining your KPIs and business performance!" bc i went too fast through my assessments for her to help me..... and "YoU'rE NoT fIgHtInG fOr YoUr CaReEr HaRd EnOuGH!!!!" whenever i got told both by my manager and my mentor that any chance for me to move up or do anything for my assessments was "not relevant to you" (even in TEAM MEETINGS!) and "just accept it's not in YOUR journey with us!!!". and finally where another coworker kept asking me if i had some undiagnosed disability that i hadnt told them about.... on the way to one of the very seldom inspections that i was SUPPOSED to be doing by myself, by the end of the program. but they continually barred me from doing. how the fuck was i meant to stay here and do anything successfully and healthily in this toxic ass workplace???
i've tried for a fucking year to get "just any job". be it from kmart to fucking heavy labouring shift work at the local steelworks.... bc i am fucking desperate.... to even a support worker in the last couple of months. that i didnt have good ref reports for (and quite understandably so this time bc this job is basically like rudimentary nursing which i've NEVER been interested in). but again i was desperate. and i wanted to test shit boss's/shit HR's hypothesis that it was "an instant job! it'll be so easy for you! bc you're so nice, and giving, and down to earth, and friendly!!! all it is, is making friends all day with your interests!! what the perfect job for you!!' ma'am i am NOT 18 like your son that you keep referencing whenever we talk about this. i am 27/28 (at the time). why the fuck are you SO condescending, belittling and supercilious?
i have been trying for a fucking year to get any fucking job possible.... when it's literally impossible.... when even rudimentary/entry level jobs like working at kmart or woolies or even as a door greeter/customer service person at a local bank; come with test after test after test after test...... that give you results like "you have big dreams and we can't help you achieve them!" or "you have NO emotional regulation and intelligence, and resilience skills whatsoever. why did you even apply to work for social services?! goodbye." or "you don't know what INNOVATION means bc you're too scared to try or come up with new ways to do things." shitbot.AI for social services. you're a government agency. you're the LEAST innovative fucking business in the ENTIRE country.... for personality readings. batshit insane multi-tasking tests like this one:

i NEVER pass these tests, whether they're the standard personality test or the psychometric tests like the one pictured, or the system thinking ones... fictional staff IM chat ones; etc etc etc. FOR A FUCKING SEWING/ARTS/HABERDASHERY SHOP. the list goes on and on. where you only have 30 seconds to get every little bit of it right in 20 questions. i failed that screenshot test big time for the local bank. bc i can't math and i felt way too rushed.
there's so many job descriptions you have to dodge bc they don't list salary properly (eg monthly figures i've seen for writing jobs or one for working for influencers i saw last week) OR even AT ALL..... instead sometimes they just "profile salary match" bc they don't want to pay jack fucking shit. overly presumptuous and fucking patronizing as all fuck small business owners who are SO FUCKING sanctimonious about the supposed importance of working in a FAMILY OWNED small business as opposed to a MuLtInAtIoNaL where apparently "you can just go home and forget about work! not HERE!" that's such a massive red flag. since they think that, from the outset, they have the RIGHT to treat APPLICANTS like they have shit-for-brains for 85k a year...... and begging for this specific attribute in the JD from applicants:
Tumblr media
that hey. maybe it's not fucking worth applying for that and losing my sanity over ANOTHER god-awful boss and a 2hr commute to work (ie it was in southwestern sydney which is a 2hr commute for me where i live). also, as a caveat. who the fuck has had stable employment since 2020???? since the worldwide fucking pandemic??? where so many industries have laid off droves and droves of employeess??? and it's still happening?? like ok given this was as a HR admin support position and i assume a lot of HR people had career stability during the last 4 years. but also. what the ACTUAL fuck.
i am TRYING to get any fucking job possible. but it's hard to take some jobs seriously. these are the attributes of some influencer advertising/marketing firm and one of their "KPI's/company values was "honor" and was like "honor the vibes and the company" or whatever the fuck i found on indeed last week:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
it's also hard to take some admin jobs seriously. for example, a local wealth management firm DOESN'T list the salary of a customer service/admin/whatever the fuck else they called it "rockstar/superstar"position..... that DEMANDS the desired candidate does the job of the equivalent of 6 other people in their branch whilst ALSO doing the admin work of their two other regional offices. what the fuck is the pay for this position??? why won't you list it??? is just THAT GOOD AND HIGH???? or just THAT LOW AND AWFUL???? fucking list it, you dumb cowardly bastards.
again, i've been trying to get any job for the past fucking year, that i've finally started to slightly dumb down my resume by finally deleting my advanced diploma of marketing. it's a daily fucking struggle to not go feral and start bitch-posting on my linkedin about how fucked up the job market is. but obvs i can't do that when have Shit HR and other people from my first job lurking on my LI feed. or start a tiktok parodying the goddamned motherfucking mindfuck tactics of the useless fucking job market before throwing my 12 year old laptop out the fucking window. "just get any job" is NOT possible anymore when that "just any job" in retail or call centres (although rip me for leaving after barely a month bc a shitty call centre i worked for in feb/march this year REFUSED to fix a backend issue on THEIR END but kept blaming it on me and it ruined my training period).... are just so mind fucky and tiring that it's straight up NOT even worth applying.
it's straight up not worth applying to a job that some local social service org sends you directly on seek (or maybe another job site) bc they think you fit the profile for a traineeship in business admin. only then, when you apply you're marked "unlikely to progress" bc you decided to list your desired salary at the higher end (apparently) of the trainee pay grade in australia (50k) bc you believe you shouldn't be expected to stay at 45k for TWO MORE FULL YEARS during that traineeship (with a vain hope that hopefully, HOPEFULLY, they'll keep you on at the end of it)... bc you NEED to start paying off your student loans automatically through your pay. BUT. oh no. that was too high of an ask for your quals/experience apparently. they WANTED you to low ball at 45k (or even lower) and be happy about it. so they reject you. when THEY sent YOU the job.
it's not worth trying to get "just any job", when famously even food chains in the US, like i think it's panera bread (and also walmart) are using 2 hour avatar-esque personality tests to screen ABSOLUTELY EVERYONE out of the pool except for like 2 people. every second job i get suggested on linkedin is just applicant pooling websites (or straight up scams where the pay is ONLY listed in US $$) where businesses just straight up ignore your applications bc they forgot they even made an account on it (imo) so you HAVE to make an account on THEIR actual site..... when some dumb-ass career-advice-fluencer on my fb feed (and the tik of the tok) tells you that's exactly how you get your application ignored, while flogging THEIR applicant pooling and job searching/resume writing AI advice software website.
"just any job before you get THE job", my fucking ass. this no longer fucking possible. and also cut the shit about overworking yourself to death with 10,000 different side hustles. bc that's exactly how i i nearly fucking died in 2020 at 20 fucking 5 in hospital with a stomach tumour..... after TOO MANY years of uni where the supposed importance of "innovative systematic entrepreneurial flair go-getter thinking of the future" was being espoused to me on the fucking daily. like dgmw, i know people are doing side hustles in these fucked up high cost of living times (and also im actively thinking about doing door dash since NO ONE is bothering to hire me)... but god the "if you have time to have down time with netflix why arent you filling your time with 15 side hustles to get your net worth to 1 million bucks??????" is fucked up. let people NOT work themselves to death outside of the mandatory 2 full time and 1 part time or casual or any other mix of jobs that people just need to fucking SURVIVE today.

If u are earning a 5-digit salary here, less than half of it goes to repaying loans, u got no dependents, high recurring medical expenses, then idk how u manage to not save anything at all. prices are a lot higher than they used to be but if u are struggling to save with that sort of lifestyle, my hunch is that ur food and drink expenses are positively insane. either that or ur splurging too much on games/collecting watches/something. just get an instant pot or an induction cooker and make a lot of beehoon soup son.
