for a guy without a reflection he is pretty insecure about his appearance

hes actually really upset about not resembling is brother much anymore

a lot of vampires can shapeshift a good amount to look older, younger, less or more human, as well as more feminine or masculine physical traits, but luigi doesnt have the stamina/health to do this

i am gonna go ahead and say that he could turn into a bat though he hasnt tried yet

i have already designed his bat form (as well as charlottes adorable bat form, sense charlotte is younger, well like physically/ sorta mentally younger her bat form is a lil baby bat <3)

daisy is the most accidentally insensitive about luigi's condition

some of them make luigi uncomfortable (specefically when she romanticizes it / expresses she finds vampires hot) but he knows she means well and at the least he does like how she doesn't make him feel like, othered/dehumanizing, like ultimately she doesnt treat him any differently (which is sometimes a problem on its own sense she'll forget things like luigi shouldnt go into the sunlight)

bowser is supportive but in like a passive somwhat passive agressive way, like he is just completely unfazed and nonchalant about it all

i cant wait for charlotte debut so bad cause i want to make mario that uncle/dad/older brother kinda character towards her (like sans and garry from ib, that uncle/dad/big brother vibes combo ) i want to make it so wholesome and silly

i know most people tend to depict mario as like,more vengeful ormore angry especially in bowuigi content ( i have nothing against this! wrtiers depicting him this way you a rad i enjoy your work and i hope your enjoying making it >;DDD) but i do personally prefer to write him as just very silly and carefree

like very much the "yeah bowser kidnaps princess peach but also mario babysits his kids jokingly no homo style flirts with him and they have fun playign golf and karting "

princess peach is litterally so sweet and considerate without even needing to be told which both helps and hurts luigi alot sense he worries about hurting her in particular a lot but also he feels supported and even somewhat normal sometimes

like immediately adding welcome sign at the castle entrance, removing a lot of decorative mirros and replacing them with paintings and flower vases etc.

i really want to get into luigi's idenitity issues at some point, he's struggling a lot with that sense it's a lot easier to think of himself as somebody with vampirism vs a vampire, this loss of humanity is something i really want to explore more

♡  Ishikirimaru is a very calm and friendly guy, he would understand very well how scary social interaction can be for some people. He would never push you too far and make sure he knows your limits. He would offer you to have tea with him or help him clean just so you both can bond together and let you know what he does want to be around you. He doesn't mind if you don't talk much because you are shy! Ishikirimaru doesn't talk too much in general but doesn't mind starting the conversation and having a short discussion about things that may interest you or your thoughts on things.

He cares a lot about the people around him and even the people he doesn't know, he prays for all of their well beings. Even yours. As long as the two of you talk it out and apologize to each other, he will forget it even happened. He wouldn't let one slip of the tongue to ruin the relationship.

♡  He tries hard to make sure he never upsets anyone and thinks over his words carefully, but even he makes mistakes and words don't come out how they planned. He will make the most effort to apologize and make sure his words didn't hurt you badly. ♡  As you can tell, Ishikirimaru is a very good listener. His whole life as a sword was to listen to those of the pained and give guidance. Even if he couldn't exactly do that in his sword form, he can do that now! He will listen to everything you have to say. Don't be shy to ramble to him. He will give you a happy smile as he listens. Tell him about the things that make you happy, what make you angry, what makes you laugh, and what makes you sad. Ishikirimaru will be right by your side, offering tea and a shoulder if you need it. You aren't alone and he will make sure you know that you don't have to face these thoughts alone.

♡  Just as how you are see through and can't lie, Ishikirimaru has a similar issue. He has a very hard time ever lying and chooses to never lie. The only time he will lie is if it is to protect others. He will often put himself in the painful position in missions so others don't have to face the hardship. He tries to not do it often because he knows that people care about him and he doesn't have to face things alone, but he would rather not see anyone sad if he can help it!

♡  He finds your embarrassed face the cutest thing in the world. Don't be scared to tell him to stop if the compliments become too much for you to handle! He will laugh it off and apologize for going too far with his comments. As stated above, he doesn't lie. So just know that every compliment he gives you is a very sincere comment that he means with his whole heart. Ishikirimaru doesn't need much affection, as long as you show that you simply care about him, he is happy. He would like to hold your hand from time to time but otherwise, he wouldn't force you to do anything you don't wish to do. Go at your own pace in the relationship, he won't rush you!

♡  Ishikirimaru will tell you anything you wish to learn! He might not have a library of knowledge of the past due to being stuck in a shrine for most of his life but he had also studied and learned about the history he came from. If you take an interest in his prayers and religion, he would gladly tell you all the tales he is aware of and teach you the cleansing sermon he often does to give positive spiritual energy. ♡  He understands very well the appeal of getting work done to the best of your ability and making it look the best you can. He will assure you that it's okay to not like loud noises but he will make sure that nothing hurts you. He will even try to lead you away to somewhere that may be a little more quiet. Giving you a distraction to get your mind off the noise. He wants nothing more than you to feel comfortable and safe.

♡  Depending on the game, he may want to play with you! He tends to like card games even though he is very easy to read and often loses. He tends to laugh about it after when he realizes that he was accidentally showing his hand every time he set down his cards to get a sip of tea. If it's video games, he would prefer to just watch you play and talk to you while you enjoy the game. He isn't the biggest fan but still enjoys to watch! Ishikirimaru is a pretty good teacher! So if you wish to study with him, he would be flattered that you wished to study with him out of everyone. He is very understanding that some material is hard to memorize out of no where. He would just softly correct you and tell you to work on it a little more. He rewards you with sweets every time you do really well on any test he gives you to test how much you remember.

♡  Ishikirimaru would be the most understanding and gentle partner. He wants nothing more than you being comfortable and happy. Fruits Basket, SE02, Ep22

I was pleasantly surprised that this was one of the best balanced eps concerning tohru as of yet!! They touched upon her being mom-figure in the first half but proceeded to humanize her afterward, depicting her as normal girl!, frustrated, vulnerable & somewhat silently struggling. I was right in my prediction that the moment yuki lets go of mom-tohru image, the show will too!! I’m happy!! finally, No more angels in the sky. But only real tohru with flaws, ugliness & humanity.

-Yuki’s acceptance of past feelings & change towards new ones:

The show is aware that they’ve been using the fake love-triangle initially but it actually has an explanation within the story. Yuki is attracted to tohru, so much, but it isn’t romantic at all. his attempts in “correcting” how he perceived her didn’t set right with him & he felt weirded out more! The show brilliantly depicted these “flirty scenes” with a hint of uneasiness. Yuki’s lines/ moves felt cringey & artificial “do you like my act, princess”,”I’ll kidnap you”, being encouraged by Aya to compliment tohru as a boy should. The signs are all there except not in your face, & the writer deserves praise!! Yuki, being perceptive, was able to reach such conclusion, not only by looking into himself, but by also at looking how kyo interacted with her, differently from him. Kyo sees tohru as a woman & is attracted to her romantically & altho kyo’s words & interactions with tohru lacks princely smoothness & have a hint of awkwardness, it was natural, genuine & spontaneous. Kyo didn’t put on an act or forced himself to flirt or deliberately chose words to impress tohru. Yuki was able to notice tohru only looked romantically towards kyo. Yuki used all his observations to reach another conclusion abt himself too!!! What he wants in a relationship is sth similar to kyo/tohru!! Mutual & equal relationship. He won’t be satisfied by one-sidedly giving or taking.

-The Author’s brilliance in writing traumatic-based behavior ( Kyo/yuki’s best interaction!! ) :

-an anon cryptically warned me that I’ll be disappointed in kyo this ep cuz of a certain scene with yuki. After watching it, I can tell you without a doubt I’m not disappointed at all!! Rather I’m beyond satisfied that I’ve decided to trust the author. Ms. Takya is genius in depicting traumatic-based behavior! Any other writer, would write the scene less raw, yuki would still shine defeating his inner demos, but kyo would only grunt, or say sth mild. cuz the writer might fear that it might risk showing kyo as the stupid guy behind in his growth compared to the successful yuki ,or annoy the readers/viewers who are so eager for these boys to reach mutual ground. Only a great writer will be brave enough to write kyo as his trauma/ faulty copying mechanism logically dictates!

-We spent an entire season with yuki, saw him yell at kakeru’s insensitive hurtful remarks, cry knowing he was saved cuz a friend risked freeing him, it took a locked dark room, paint fumes, PTSD, tons of monologues before yuki finally let it all out! & you want such brilliant writer to make kyo turn around & be nice to yuki all of a sudden after episodes of fights & no perspective insight? You bet such amazing writer will give kyo’s perspective its time & his development the logical progress he needs. This writer is all abt logical & realistic progression! whether positive or even negative, the characters will come across human, raw, realistic & real during & after their journey.

- Going through kyo/yuki’s dialogue, it will tell you that furuba is NOT abt friendship saving the day, or abt successful growth. It is abt the journey these traumatized children are undergoing now that they are nearly becoming young adults. Yuki’s journey was amazing not cuz he succeeded (as amazingly as this is) but cuz it made sense from his perspective, was realistic, logical, matched his coping mechanism & character traits & it took the needed time. Now for kyo, all his reactions should match his perspective, & make sense giving his coping mechanism. He wasn’t given time yet. so, he won’t grow much yet. “Making a fool of me?” kyo didn’t see yuki’s perspective abt the hat. he thinks yuki did it on purpose to taunt him.That HE saved tohru while kyo fails as always. “Praised by others, needed by them” Kyo like everybody in school, always thought yuki is a prince, loved, & admired. Kyo is not the audience, he didn’t see yuki’s struggle.”surpass me easily while I struggle” kyo may train for years with tears & blood, but the rat will beat him always cuz he is superiors. “an idiot that never gets anything, wants an idiotic impossible thing” “if only I gave birth to the rat, I’d ve been happier” kyo’s mom wished or the impossible. So did kyo. He wished that he’d prove to her that he can be the rat’s equal. She shouldn't have died becuz of him. An impossible wish.

-I personally think that kyo’s journey will take a different path from yuki’s. Unlike yuki, kyo’s been accused & proved to harm others somehow, intentionally or unintentionally. Some not even in this world anymore. So there are things in kyo’s journey that can’t be fixed. Nothing will bring his mom or kyoko back to life. He can’t apologize to them. There is NO forgiveness here as kyoko said!. Hence, the writer will brilliantly make kyo fall so hard & reach rock bottom so bad before he stands up again!! It matches his personality too!! He’s a person who struggles in expressing himself verbally, gets overwhelmed with emotions, stubborn, hard on himself & fiery in nature. Moreover, due to his trauma, he harbors very low self-esteem & due to his guilt, he is drenched in self-loath.

-The addiction of destructive coping mechanism ( Writing Brilliancy):

Kyo has one of the most destructive coping mechanism in the show. Similarly to what his father did by illogically dumping all the blame of the mom’s suicide on 4 year old child, which resulted in hurting kyo, kyo adopted his dad’s ways & dumped it all on yuki. Illogical. wrong. but it works!! it numbs this tingling sense of guilt, it puts the voice that goes “ you’re unforgivable” temporarily to sleep. All the hate is on someone else. not me. I’m not a monster. does it work all the time? NO. cuz NO drug does! All drugs has this temporary effect, that unless you break away from, will end up destroying you. “don’t you want it that way? you wouldn’t want to have anyone to hate?“  I’m still confused if this is kyoko or his mom. It has kyoko’s hair, the words are very harsh. Kyoko from kyo’s perspective shifts between extremely kind & cruelly harsh! but regardless, the truth has been spoken. Kyo’s eyes are opened. He can’t force blind himself anymore. he does NOT hate yuki. he “ acts like hating yuki is sth you needs to do”, as shigure said! hating yuki is his way to escape from his destructive self-loath. He hasn’t been hating or fighting yuki for a long while, he tries now, one more fight, one more dose of the drug, let the pain go away! Nope. Yuki is not participating, yuki is in the light now. You are drenched in the darkness, as unforgivable as you are. Monster eyes & all. Kyo breaks the window to break away from the memory. from this point on, it escalates to rock bottom as the drug is no longer working & hating himself with no escape is all he’s left with.

-Protecting leading to hurting:

yuki brings kyo attention that while he’s been hard on himself & resisting change, he is hurting tohru. Sth kyo chose confinement in oder to NOT do. Kyo being distant from class activities “life” is his choice. Tohru suffering is a consequence to that choice. Kyo, once again, overwhelmed by tohru’s desire to include him in their activities “ life”. Helplessly & painfully looking at her & acknowledging yuki’s words. Kyo in one of his most vulnerable moments, matched only by true form hug scene, is desperate for a hug. Not only cuz he loves her, but cuz he needs her, cuz he’s so tried of himself, cuz she’s so endearingly stupid waiting for him all by herself when she could’ve easily caught him home!! Ugh! tohru! T_T. Except this time, kyo is aware of his surroundings, it’s school, no place for transformation. As kyo decides to change his position from hug to head rest, he stares so intently in her eyes. Embracing her with his presence. For a moment there I felt weird. Like I was intruding on a personal moment between two ppl. XD. This moment was this excellently weird mix of tenderly romantic, bittersweet cuz they cant be together hug, & sexually tensed! one of the most successful kyoru moment that truly depicted emotions visually without needing much dialogue!

Side Notes:

kyo/yuki interaction was their most honest, filter-free & raw moment! each said what he really felt. yuki’s directly telling kyo to complain to him, which kyo did. yuki urging kyo to see that punishing himself hurts tohru.

I appreciate that Yuki won’t tell tohru now, cuz it will ruin their progress towards a better balanced relationship. Tohru’s lid hasn’t even been touched, so she would be cautious interacting with him. But once she opens her lid, her self-worth increase & her desire to focus on herself more is ignited!, she’ll listen to him without taking his burden as hers. just like kakeru did. Equal friends.

I wanted to talk deeper abt machi & yuki, but didn’t want it to be overshadowed by kyo’s analysis. Next time for sure!

I love how the writer included the most spontaneous flirting moment between kyo & tohru right after yuki explained that he saw her non-romantically. The writer wants the comparison to be clear cutting ties to any love-triangle misunderstanding that might linger from previous scenes. Moreover, it showed yuki fully & genuinely accepting kyoru!!

I’ll never be over tohru acting like normal teenager & chasing kyo, trying to catch the script!!!! These small moments while having not much effect on the grand plot, help depict tohru with her own feisty style of stubbornness beyond the one-sided kind image we always see.

This ep has well-written & visually appealing scenes. Visual imagery were well-implemented in kyo/yuki scene & kyo/tohru last scene.

Thank you anime for drawing tohru older, pretty & more mature in the final scene. She looked like a woman in love & silently in pain. My baby is growing!

(as always feel free to call me out [ie explain why im being stupid, please dont actually make a callout post, i dont want anon hate-] if im being a stupid white cracker, I’m mostly just venting abt something ive had on my mind for a while now and wasnt able to express to my parents during a debate/argument early bc i was worried my dad would call me a dirty liberal or something along those lines and ive already made him not listen to me enough, i dont need to push him away further if i ever want to get through to him)

The problem most white people who arent straight-up evil racists (including myself until somewhat recently) dont get about racism, and in fact most people of majority groups dont get about minority groups in general, is that like...its not about how you feel, its about being respectful when you make the other person uncomfortable.

On the surface, to a white person, and honestly to people of any race that it isn’t directed against OR even to people of the race that it /is/ directed against, there isn’t really anything wrong with the confederate flag, or wearing a Dia de los Muertos costume on halloween, or having a native american icon/term as a sports teem name.  “I dont have any problem with people wearing pilgrim costumes, or using other white terms/icons as sports team names or costumes, so why should you?” they think.  “I know I’m not flaunting the confederate flag for (implied intentionally/known) racist reasons, because I dont see black people as lesser than white people, so how could being proud of it be racist?”

But the issue is not that you hate black people, or whatever other racial minority you’re being culturally insensitive to.  The issue is that to those people, you’re reflecting decades of on-going oppression and bigotry.  Every time you proudly wave your confederate flag, you remind black people of the people who waved that flag while brutally oppressing them, you remind black people of the people who still use that flag alongside the nazi flag and call for extermination of blacks/other racial minorities, you remind black people of the fear they experience every time they’re pulled over.  Every time you dress up in a culturally insensitive culture, you pull the wig over every culture that white people have fucked over and attempted to assimilate into their own culture.  Every time you defend the Redskins, you’re repeating centuries of disrespect and discrimination and downright torture that native americans have had to go through.  The problem is not your intention - its how others interpret your actions.

And if you’re thinking “but then its their problem, not mine; why do I have to change my actions to atone for their problem?” well first off fuck you, its not their problem, its the problem of the people who did that to them/their ancestors - but even then you arent directly to blame, so I’ll accept your point.  But I have a good analogy for you:

You’re hanging out with an acquaintance in a room.  Neither of you have anything to talk about, so you decide to put on your headphones and turn up your music real loud.  The person in the room with you says “hey, can you turn your music down a little? It’s hurting my ears.”  Obviously, you apologize and comply - or if you dont, then you’re a fucking asshole and nothing is going to break through your thick skull so you might as well stop reading now.

My point is that being culturally sensitive to others’ culture is basic human respect.  You shouldn’t be doing it to prove that you’re a great ally, you shouldn’t be doing it to be “woke”, and you should be doing it because otherwise you’re being insensitive to others.  It’s just...its barely even a matter of race when you get down to it; it’s just being respectful to others.  Obviously race has a hand in it, the whole reason you have to be sensitive to it is because of race.  But the principal that should be guiding you not to support these things is basic human respect, not the idea of being racially woke.

And about what I said where white people dont see a problem with doing the same things to pilgrims - that’s how I saw it for a while, but I tried to stay relatively quiet about it because I wasn’t sure of it and it wasn’t really my business to tell someone not to be offended over a concept that my stupid white ass can barely comprehend (if this seems like I’m understanding racism at all - nope all I’m doing is paraphrasing things I’ve learned on the internet from people who actually experience racism, and adding in my own personal experiences to flesh it out.  But that’s what understanding racism SHOULD be for white people, because we ourselves do not experience it.  But I digress, I’m still a dumb white cracker when you get down to it, but im trying)  But see, that’s not a fair analogy.  Here’s a fairer analogy; think of north korea, or ISIS, or [insert another country/organization that a lot of westerners hate, preferably with reason (ie a terrorist organization or a country that is ruthless towards its civilians), here].  Now imagine that for some reason, North Korea or ISIS was concerned with sports.  Now imagine that they had a team called “The Christians” or “The Americans”.  The idea’s making you a little uncomfortable, right?  Even if the country/terrorist faction didn’t do anything bad with the team, the fact that it exists would be a little concerning, knowing their history.  ...Now take this and apply it to the natives (native americans AND mexicans) who were brutally murdered, culturally brainwashed, and generally abused by white people - even if its not the same generation of white people we have now.  Take this and apply it to the black people who are descendants of slaves.  And add in the fact that this oppression is on-going, whether you want it to be or not.  Now do you see where they’re coming from?

So just.  Try being respectful and seeing it from someone else’s perspective.  Listen to what I’m saying but more importantly, listen to what they’re saying.

And ps, for everyone and not just white people who are okay with cultural insensitivity: not every black person hates the confederate flag.  Not every native person finds issue with culturally insensitive costumes.  Racial minorities are not a unified body of people.  You will find someone of those races saying these things are fine, guaranteed.  And you know what?  Good for them that they aren’t bothered by things like that.  But like I said before, the problem isn’t your intention or the content itself - the problem is that it reminds some people of centuries of systemic abuse.  Just because a few people aren’t bothered by it doesn’t mean it isn’t disrespectful towards others.  I am NOT trying to say that all black people are offended by the confederate flag.  The problem is that /some/ of them are, and understandably so.
