i understand now the appeal to hate on ao3 even having an underage tag.........like sure blah blah it lets ppl avoid content they dont want to see, as opposed to not having warnings for it at all and ppl accidentally stumbling across rly gross stuff. but also consider: why have we just accepted that some ppl write rly gross stuff and, instead of their writing being swiftly taken down, they've been given a space & the argument of "well just hide the tag!!!"

like obviously talking abt what is/isnt ok to write + post can be tricky and is NOT black and white, but i feel like its obvious when someones writing, say, plotless porn abt characters that're a) kids b) from something AIMED at younger audiences and c) often significantly younger than them, for no other reason than its fun to do smth that feels wrong, but has been made acceptable. and then they can get mad at teenagers in the fandom for saying "hey it makes me uncomfortable u think abt characters my age like that wtf" bc "i put minors dni/be warned/the right tags on it so you would avoid it!!!!!" (it, again, being explicit sexual stuff between characters that are KIDS)
