When is a movie more than a movie? When does a movie feel like it has boiled down the most significant elements of life into the fine points to present on screen? What would this movie even be called? Someone entitled it La La Land . The movie brings joy to the spirit throughout and breaks the heart a thousand times over with its conclusion. Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling shine with the hope and the confusion of youth as they are navigating the twisting roads of life throughout the film, and they then lose some of their light as they age and mature and begin to understand that life works in weird ways and not always the way they want it to. The movie is dirty, fun, and true to life in an absurd way all while encompassing the 50's vibe of old Hollywood and jazz music mixed in with the modern day. After watching it I feel like a wide eyed child in a candy store. The familiar seems so new and tonight's snowfall has a touch of the magical to it. This movie deserves a score beyond a 10/10. I can't wait to see it again. I can only hope I can one day write a story or act in something as fantastic as that film. Bravo La La Land.
