Of course I don't mind! ( >o w o )> and feel free to ask me to elaborate or to ask about specific topics! you're always welcome here <3 So I am of the thought that his studies in the Gariland Akademy were exclusively all of the more advanced classes (especially for his young age) and that he was solidly a teacher's pet due to his inclination for quiet studying away from others as well as his devout faith in Glabados. He never if rarely worried any of his teachers and made good marks that reflected on him superbly in an academic sense but separated him from his peers. I think it would bother Cletienne that he feels like a normal person yet still nobody really wanted to talk to the guy reading books on time theory LMAO

Could also very well see Cletienne being allowed to read books from the library in Gariland that other students weren't since he was so studious for his age (or, of course, he snuck them out in a quest to quench his thirst for knowledge)

Basically, him joining the Church after graduating was all but guaranteed; they have archives upon archives of knowledge there that I imagine Cletienne spent a long time in perfecting his spell craft (the time trap spell anyone?) as well as the fact that he was quite religious.

spoilers for a fic i'm writing below!

I headcanon that Cletienne was orphaned as a baby during the latter half of the fifty year war (on the ordallian side of the warfront) and that he was taken in and raised by a family in Ivalice that was closely tied to the church of Glabados. the Wodring family, in fact. when Cletienne was old enough to go to school they sponsored him and that was what fueled his determination to excel. He knew he wasn't a Wodring (he looked nothing like them and also the name Cletienne Duroi does not inspire thoughts of Ivalice, perhaps) but was fiercely loyal to the family and admired Loffrey even when the guy had around a decade of years over him.

I also headcanon that he was named by the soldiers who found him, one of whom might've numbered a 22-year old Folmarv Tengille. (I'm a fan of contrived coincidences when they can craft a story don't you know XD)
