Chapter 6 - Floodgates

She slipped her hands into the frills of his shirt, her fingers grazing his chest, marvelling at the texture of his skin. She traced his collarbones, there was a beauty there, almost hidden in the ruins of his body. Little parts of him calling to her, like flowers blooming through the rubble. Thunder screamed outside the diner causing the chipped porcelain plates to rattle on the tables. He hissed, pressing his forehead against the slope of her neck, hands pulling at her thighs, fingernails dragging deliciously.

“First time with you, I wanted to be gentle, wanted to show ya all the ways I’d thought about ya. Wanted to take my time. But now,” he drew in a ragged breath “I can’t. I can’t make any promises. The size of this storm? The way you taste? I think I’m gonna fuckin’ devour you.”

His words shot through her, her breathing hitching in anticipation. No one had ever spoken to her like that before, with such devotion, with such… hunger.

“Devour me.” She breathed into his ear, only half aware of the words as they passed her lips. Too far gone on the idea of him, her body electrified, quivering in anticipation.

She’d lost sight of Hancock a while back, her breathing hitching in panic as she struggled to catch up. She couldn’t understand it, her mind desperately going over the events of the last few days, picking every interaction apart as she tried to figure out what had happened to make him change so...suddenly. Was it her? Had she done something wrong? A nauseating combination of guilt and uncertainty rolled through her stomach. She pressed her fingers against the red mark on her wrist, disappointment settling in her chest. As they’d travelled together and his touches had become more frequent she’d grown used to how easy it had been. She marvelled at how quickly she had fallen for those little moments, the texture of his skin, the comfort of his hand in hers, the heat of his body pressed against her.
