Happy 92nd anniversary to The Mummy (1932)!

I drew this in December last year, using the anniversary falling so near Christmas as an excuse to draw Im-Ho-Tep in a Santa hat, because why not? I love drawing the OG Monsters out of character 🎅

This also gave me a chance to try and make a “sketchy” piece of art, as I have a habit of turning all my drawings into marathon projects that take hours, and not just quick, efficient sketches. This drawing still took longer than I intended, as I decided to change some details last minute, but I managed to do the face and outline quicker than usual at least. I also got a chance to practice using my Lyra brush pens for once, which was nice.

“Im-Ho-Ho-Ho-Tep” came to me when I was about halfway through the drawing. I am still exceptionally pleased with myself for coming up with that, and was very smug at the time 😂

HB and 3B graphite and mechanical pencils and Lyra Aqua-brush duo pens on 160gsm paper.

Someone: Hey, I can’t draw anything digitally, because I can’t afford a tablet, but here’s a pen on paper drawing that I spent a lot of time and hard work on. Also, I took a shot at my first fanfic and I’d really like some feedback or at least some kudos if you enjoyed it :)

Fandom: Oh... yeah sorry no... not you. We actually meant writers that are already well known and popular to produce MORE content... I mean, if a popular blog shares your work then maybe. And we don’t really like pen to paper art. We just don’t think it’s professional or even looks good :/

have had another madlad mega-plan idea of the organizational variety: make miniature books (facsimile covers only) for all the books i have as digital books. audio books can be represented by miniature vinyl records. a miniature bookshelf to house them.

end result: me being able to see the books i have as digital form instead of them disappearing from consciousness.
