•• He'd been watching his kouhai mutter for awhile, before he finally decided to reach over and tap him on the shoulder. "Hey hey, Izuku! What are you writing there?" The blonde had never seen someone writing with so much passion! "You taking notes on something?"

The teacher huffs, lowering his pointer, pausing the entire class to stop and glare at Midoriya. "I'm uninterested in your paltry apologies, Midoriya."
"You may be a burgeoning hero, but you are still a high school student. Have you forgotten that?"

"While you're busy daydreaming about fighting villains alongside your personal hero All Might, the rest of your classmates are getting a proper education to become well rounded citizens, not just flashy heroes."

EDIT: Since this kinda broke containment: THESE ARE MY PERSONAL FEELINGS. If you agree, let me know and we can connect! :D If you disagree, that's awesome. Keep doing your thing. I do not want to tell anybody that the way they enjoy g/t is wrong.
I think I've cracked the code of why the overwhelming amount of g/t fl/uff (censored so it doesn't show up in its tag) makes me uncomfortable: there just are no stakes.
Like, to me, g/t stories need to have a power imbalance. That's the whole readon for the trope to exist. Just like bd$m or v0re or, fuck, even just boss/employee stories, the inheirent difference in power - literal or social - is the whole point of it.
And, no offense, but all the posts about friendship and r0mance between tiny and giant just... play that down? Maybe it's because the trope has been done to death and back (we're all in its fandom after all), and people just wanna skip to the part that is new in their story. Nothing wrong with that, I'm not trying to police what people are writing. I'm mostry just airing out my own thoughts here.
But that also kinda takes out the tension? I've once read a comparison online, that in real life, two people clearly communicating their problems is good and healthy, but in a story, it takes out the stakes. Stories usually need points of tension building up the closer we get to the climax, with a big finish, and a drop in tension towards the end.
And this may just be me bitching, but I remember a time when the g/t tag was full of fearplay and looming and angst, where evil giants were as plentiful as sand in the desert. And now that's almost a rare trope. A lot of people I follow who used to post lots of angst, now primarily only post fl♡ff, which, again, do as you want. I'm just wondering why this shift occurred.
To me personally, g/t is a good way to explore these feelings, of feeling small, weak, at the mercy of a being so much bigger than me. Bad things need to happen to the tiny, because it's somewhat of a stress release. And if you've read this far, thanks and please don't block me.

Personal pet peeve of mine: Reading a yandere story with a historical setting with the yandere reducing the target of their obsession to just sitting around all day when they are not being subjected to "affections" and it being written that way for "historical accuracy".
I mean, yeah, there were gender roles in the past, but those gender roles didn't feature women being completely reduced to fleshlights with no other purpose. That was a job and it was called prostitute or concubine, and many women didn't do it willingly. Even high society women had a lot of tasks.
Being into historical re-enactment really showed me that it didn't matter if you were a man or a woman, or even just a child; you really didn't have much time to be idle. Asides, idlness was/is frowned upon in many religions and cultures.
C'mon, even the thing with societal norms is that a great part of society didn't adhere to them 'cause it just wasn't feasible. The attitude went along the lines of: "Nice morals you got there. We're just gonna throw a few out 'cause else we're not gonna survive. Mary, go get ye scythe now, the wheat's not gonna reap itself." And high society geneally didn't really practise what it preached because it was commonly too interested in debauchery.
People didn't get married for shits and giggles either. The single lifestyle only really worked when you either inheired a lot/had relatives paying for you or that you were living under your employers roof and all your worldy possessions fitted in one bag. Or you just lived with your family until you kicked the bucket. I mean, the armour and weapons a knight had were often provided by their liege lord and a priest's housing belonged to the Church.
Also, the trope of arranged marriages is a bit overused at this point. How about more stories about both parties hating each other's guts, or the woman loving the idea of marrying her intended but the man wanting to run for the hills? The woman baby-trapping the man perhaps? Because all of that existed to!
Don't get me started on fashion. Corset =/= patriarchy. You don't see the women in Jane Austen or Mary Shelley novels complaining about corsets and burning them, so let it rest. Really, that trope of corsets being a torture device comes from men making fun of woman's fashion and actresses with illfitting periode costumes. Corsets were more comfortable than stays and only really went out of fashion due to women needing more flexability due to bicycles. Ya really think ladies removed ribs, in a period where there weren't antibiotics and doctors went from cutting up corpses to treating patients without washing their hands inbetween? Common sense, where are you?
Asides, the clothing having to be chaste and covering certain parts applied to everybody. Breeches went out of fashion because people thought women would become arroused by men's exposed calves. Such standards didn't only apply to the Victorians, mind you.
I'll stop here, else this will be ten pages long. You also get the gist of it. Over and out.

the clover doesn't belong to 4chan, it's actually an anime refrence. also 4chan has quite a number of fine enough boards. theres fitness, cooking, comic reviews, diy guides, so many things are hosted there. it is not inheirently a bad place full of bad people doing bad things. b and pol are just two boards. sure, you can make heroin from poppies but not everyone growing poppies is a drug lord. they are lovely in a garden, delicious in cakes, and valuable as a medical tool. 4chan is akin to the poppy. it's what you make of it.
(don't post if off anon thanks)
agree
no more 4chan talk now however it is no longer on the topic of toyhouse

“There's something about you that just…” He struggled to articulate it. “I can’t figure it out. I don’t know what your deal is,” “My deal?” Lance’s eyebrows shot up to his forehead. He jabbed a finger into Keith’s chest, voice angry as he spoke. “Alright, here’s my deal. A few weeks ago, one of the hottest guys I’ve ever seen walked into my life, and then I punched him in the face. I keep bending over backwards trying to impress him, but I just keep fucking things up. It doesn’t help, though, that he’s aloof and mysterious and acts like a dick, but I know there’s more to him than that, and for some god-forsaken reason, I’m dying to figure it out,” — Or, Keith has never heard of Voltron or any of its band members. That is, until he’s hired to work with them and catches the eye of Lance, the lead singer/guitarist. Their relationship is complicated and filled with obstacles, and they both try to figure out the best way to navigate it. Or, well, Keith tries. But it’s hard to figure out your emotions when someone is releasing a song clearly written about you every 5 seconds.

high hopes (are getting low) by metamizol (1/1 | 1,420 | Teen and Up)
Lance is the elder prince of Altea, yet he has no rights to inheir the throne. Making out with servants and living like a rebellious royal kid, breaking hearts and being whispered about all around the galaxy - that's what he's like. Love is unnecessary and marriage is overrated. Until he meets some half galra guy.
Past the Mourning Sun by crapoftheworld (14/14 | 67,705 | General)
His vision blurred from tears and sweat running together and making his eyes sting, and he heard his team screaming his name. They felt far away and he wanted to tell them not to worry, his eyes sluggishly attempting to convey what his clenched jaw couldn’t, but before he could do much of anything, Lance’s view of the desolation Voltron had wrought, of the new Galra fleet, of his fellow Voltron lions, of the giant druid ship with its offensively shaped canon, all faded to darkest black. *** Voltron is falling apart. Keith has left, Shiro’s acting weird, and Red is shunning Lance. Just when he thought things couldn’t get worse, they did. Lance gets zapped far away to an alternate reality where he struggles to find his footing. He needs to find his way back to the team, fast, and maybe he’ll find himself along the way. Despite his aversion to cliches, he just can't seem to steer clear of them.

It's such a minefield to just exist as a Jewish person right now. I offhandedly mentioned to my college advisor I took a gap year and when she asked where I had this moment of oh. I do NOT want to answer that.
Up until that point we had been having a pleasent time, but the moment the word "Israel" left my mouth she clearly became extremely uncomfortable. For me, I'm just existing. I'm just being me. I spent a year connecting to my ancestral home. To her? I don't know. And it makes me nervous as hell.
There's an inheirant danger now to revealing you're Jewish. You simply do not know how people are going to react.
(She asked me if taking gap year in Israel is a rite of passage. I told her simply going even once is a something like a rite of passage. That it's where the Jewish people are from, where we originate, and that to be able to reconnect with the land that our ancestors lived and loved is something so huge. She awkwardly thanked me. A few times. I cannot recommend another experience like that to myself.)

Round 1 of 8, Group 2 of 8
Tumblr media Tumblr media
propaganda and summaries are under the cut (May include spoilers)
The Dragon Prince: 5.08 Finnegrin's Wake
Held captive aboard the Sea Legs, Callum and his crew must dig deep to win their freedom. Janai faces her brother once again.
Starts with a banger sea shanty, has a super cool Tidebound Elf pirate captain Finnegrin trying to convince the main character Callum to do Dark Magic, Finnegrin literally tortures a different main character, Rayla, by freezing her blood, then Soren, the son of the BBEG, realizes that Finnegrin treats his crew just like his father had treated himself, and tries to make Finnegrin's bruiser Deadwood (who is like a driftwood creature I think?) realize that Deadwood deserves better, while Soren is actively getting beat up by him. It works. Meanwhile Callum ACTUALLY USED Dark Magic again (he had a big arc in S2 where he used it once and then had to battle with his inner self for it, it's a theme) to free himself from his chains and help his friends. Finnegrin freezes his blood too, but as he does, Callum has a revelation about the inheirent magic of the Ocean, resisting Finnegrin's spell. Then Deadwood grabs the pirate, tells him that his name isn't Deadwood, it's Elmer, and chucks him overboard into the maw of a sea monster. Very Pirates of the Carribean and I loved it.
Over the Garden Wall: 1.10 Chapter 10: The Unknown
The Beast has come. The final chapter begins.

Chrollo 100% watched snuff films as a kid. In meteor city you collect the trash of the world, and I doubt most tapes are clearly labelled. He was looking around for kids shows a lot. Also he intimately knows the culture and practice enough to predict they would post that shit online. not saying he was into it (inheirently) but I bet he saw a lot of it.

I admire you as an artist and consider you a keystone in this collection of indie erohorror creators Ive collected over the years. While I wish you were far, far more popular I know this niche is inheirently constraining in a world ruled by censorship and mealy-mouthed, easily packaged and highly processed works of art.

Byakuya,,,, being scooped up by Mondo so he can carry him to bed.... just that little vulnerability that Byakuya unwillingly shares with him.
And when he wakes up, he has his worldview shattered and that maybe people can be kind and the universe isn't inheirently cruel. Mondo could have hurt him, he could have set him somewhere worse, he could have done anything.
And yet he didn't.
His clothes still vaguely smell like motor exhaust and cheap body spray and he learns to associate it with an unspoken kindness and that maybe these people care about him in their own way.
god. byakuya realising his class cares about him and not knowing how to handle it is so ☹️☹️☹️ bc they’re so messy about it. his class caring for him is all ruffled hair and notes written on crumpled paper and jokes that don’t land and awkward invitations to movie nights. with some of them its loud, like mondo and leon, it’s love shielded between cursed and insults. with some of them it’s silent, like kyoko and celeste and mukuro, it’s love hidden in shared nods and eye contact. and with some of them it’s bright, like makoto and hina, it’s love passed to him in the form of sweet candy and happy laughter. it’s different for all of them and at first he resents it, this weird affection they all seem to show him, as if they don’t realise they’re below him. but it gets to him anyway, and he finds himself humming along to sayaka’s singing, peering over chihiro’s shoulder to watch as she codes, returning the expression when makoto smiles at him with such welcoming he feels he might faint. they’re kind to him and they smile at him and they share their things with him. they insult him in half the things they say, but it’s different. the words falling from mondo’s mouth don’t cut the way his father’s always did. the way hina rolls her eyes doesn’t make him feel small in the way his mother always did. they’re his friends and they love him and he tried so hard to avoid it but now here he is, squished on a sofa between hifumi and hiro, watching shitty b-grade horror movies as leon throws popcorn at the screen and toko laments about the lazy writing. tasting sweetness on his tongue when sakura offers him chocolate, knowing he’d never have been allowed this at home. feeling safe and content and loved when the movie ends and junko asks which one he wants to watch next, very clearly trying to influence him to the one with more gore. these people are messy and confusing and strange and they love him and he loves them. he’s finally coming around to accepting that.
