I like being alone. I'm not one of those who goes out with friends, even less with family. I know, I'm weird. But I feel good this way, I'm comfortable in my corner, as long as no one comes and messes with me. I'm antisocial. I like writing, listening to music, reading books about love, drinking coffee or even a tea. But for this to happen, that place has to be very nicely for me. hey, im looking into making donations to local indigenous communities and I'm in alberta, but I don't know where to start looking (I tried searching "indigenous groups to donate to in Alberta" and it's just giving me more broad canada-wide charities) so I was wondering if you know of any organizations/communities/groups that are particularly in need right now? since I know you're from the area too! or even if you have a better direction to point me in in my search. I'm definitely going to be donating some stuff to Camp Pekiwewin in Edmonton

First Nations Child & Family Caring Society 

Onion Lake Education Trust Fund  (money goes towards building Legacy Fund, which gives Onion Lake First Nation students scholarships, bursaries, and other Education related expenses)

Sunrise healing Lodge Society (Based in Calgary, Alberta, offers treatment for addictions specifically geared towards First Nations, including cultural services during recovery)

Native Women’s Association of Canada 

Indspire Awards non-profit org that offers scholarships, bursaries, and financial aid to Indigenous post-secondary students across Canada (they've helped me out twice! You might be helping me!)

Alberta Native Friendship centres Association  Association with multiple centres across Alberta that provide services, events, and programs for Indigenous people, including homeless shelters, daycare & childcare services, employment programs, cultural camps, and more

True North Aid: gives humanitarian support to Northern Indigenous communities, including in Alberta

Jordan's principle: Gives financial and legal aid to First Nations who need it regarding health, such as for surgeries

Edmonton Food Bank: 33% of Food Bank users in Edmonton are Indigenous. I think you have to email them to see how to donate money atm because of Covid

Yellowhead Tribal College: Native college in Edmonton owned by multiple FN bands in Alberta (Sunchild, Alexander, O'Chiese, & Alexis), I believe they're using some of the donations specifically for COVID relief, but donating to a school would be good too

Eco justice: legal aid for environmental battles & protecting the land, many active cases are providing aid to Indigenous communities & land rights.

I've tried looking, but I don't know of any First Nations reserves specifically in Alberta that have ready and updated links for donating, some of the ones I found were old. However, a lot of reserves have an official site, so if you look up a few reserves and can't find a donation link on their website, usually there's a number you can call or a contact email of some kind, usually somebody for Chief and Council, and you could try contacting them yourself and asking if there's a recent updated link somewhere to donate. Otherwise, the above links would be very helpful to donate to, and many do include giving help to Alberta, even if they aren't specified there. If anybody has anything else to add, or knows where to donate specifically to FNMI in Alberta, please add!
