Despite playing without replacement from the beginning to the end of this season,
Brandon has not been on the mound for as many as 110 days. He pitched in 14 games with 75 innings, 7 wins, 4 losses, and ERA 3.12 but failed to return easily after suffering injury in late June. Doosan waited until the end, 다파벳우회주소but failed to contribute to its team even in the postseason.
We cannot calculate only the period in which they were absent. Jordan Balazovic, who Doosan rushed to visit to replace Alcantara, had high expectations as a pitcher who had experienced Major League Baseball (MLB) 해외배팅사이트순위but only had two wins, six losses and ERA of 4.26 in 12 games. Although his luck was not consistent with his performance, quality start (more than six innings as a starter and less than three earned runs) was rejected as a starter only twice,
adding to the burden on the bullpen, which is already struggling. Brandon's departure brought in Keisho Shirakawa, who played as a short-term substitute for SSG, but he also left the team with two wins, three losses and 메이저사이트ERA of 6.03 in six games.

Unexpected Starts, All-Stars and a Saves Mark Set: Ten Things to Know in the American Association This Week
Tumblr media
The American Association of Professional Baseball (@AA_Baseball) season continues with a full slate of series this weekend, all available for free live viewing at aabaseball.tv. With the All-Star Game in Kansas City just 12 days away, check out the roster selections here.
Here are 10 (or so) more Things to Know about the AAPB this week:
When Iowa State Representative JD Scholten (House District 1) made a spot start for the Sioux City Explorers on Saturday, his first trip to the MercyOne Field at Lewis & Clark Park mound in 17 years, expectations were tempered. But that 6 2/3 innings of two-run ball earned the 44-year-old righty a win, media attention locally and nationally, and another start today at Fargo-Moorhead (12:30 p.m. CT, AABaseball.tv).
The Cleburne Railroaders' Carter Aldrete (nephew of 10-year Major Leaguer Mike Aldrete and son of nine-year pro Rich) has had a fantastic first season in powder blue, and he's the cover man in the June/July issue of Johnson County Community Life, which also previewed the season and included a feature on Railroaders Superfan Garey Wiley, who has attended all but two of the team's home games since 2017.
AAPB Broadcast alum Sean Aaronson, who has broadcasted the St. Paul Saints since 2007 (in the AAPB from 2007-20), was called up to broadcast six Minnesota Twins games - replacing Kris Atteberry, who broadcasted for St. Paul (2002-06, including '06 in the AAPB) and Sioux Falls (1999-2001).
On the player alum side, Gabriel Cancel (Milwaukee '23) was recently signed by the Blue Jays organization and homered six times in his first 10 games for Triple-A Buffalo, and Twins organization infielder Payton Eeles (Chicago '23), who began the season in Low A, was promoted to Triple-A St. Paul., where he’s slashing .333/.600/.667 in his first six games.
The Olympics are getting most of the international attention this summer, but there’s more worldwide baseball out there. Fargo-Moorhead RHP Orlando Rodriguez will be representing Spain at the upcoming European baseball tournament in the Netherlands.
Call it vacaciones, a siesta or a quick trip South of the Border, but AAPB All-Star Izzy Alcantara found Fargo-Moorhead more to his liking, returning to the RedHawks after a four-game stint with Aguascalientes in the Mexican League. The speedster (38 stolen bases through Wednesday) is second in the league in batting at .355 and has gone 10 for 26 in six games since his visit to the historic central Mexican city.
The Winnipeg Goldeyes are participating in a scholarship program with Baseball Manitoba, incorporating players, coaches and umpires into the offerings. Applications are due Monday, available through this link.
Members of the Kane County Cougars were on hand assisting clients at the Marklund Hyde Center in Geneva, Ill., on Tuesday for a softball game. The Center provides 24-hour residential care for infants, children and adults with severe and profound developmental disabilities. See a gallery of images from the fantastic day here, and congratulations to the whole Cougars organization on an amazing, fulfilling event.
On-field Congratulations are in order to the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks' Alex DuBord, who recorded his franchise-record 48th save in a F-M uniform last night in a win over the West-leading Sioux Falls Canaries. A former 10th-round pick of the San Francisco Giants out of Faulkner (Ala.) University, the Fargo native is in his fourth year with the RedHawks, posting 12 saves thus far in 2024.
Earlier this year, former longtime Gary SouthShore RailCats PA announcer, Tommy Williams passed away at the age of 66 years old. Williams was the PA announcer for the RailCats for 18 years and his signature “People, People, People.” opened up every RailCats home game, every fan that attended a game knew the voice and the signature statement as the sign of summer in Northwest Indiana. To honor his contributions not just to the RailCats, but also his love for sports in the Region for so long, the press box that Williams called home was renamed the “Tommy Williams Pressbox” on his birthday, July 4.
Some fun theme nights coming up:
Thursday, “Shirt off our Backs” Night, Winnipeg Goldeyes
Friday, “I’m Ron Burgundy?” Night, Sioux Falls Canaries
Friday, Video Game Night, Kane County Cougars
Sunday, Sensory Game, Gary SouthShore RailCats
Tuesday, Celebrate Reading Night, Sioux City Explorers
Wednesday, Tyler’s Amazing Balancing Act, Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks

Sandy Alcantara 🇩🇴 (2022)
Sandy Alcántara Montero (San Juan de la Maguana, September 7, 1995) is a Dominican pitcher.
In 2022, he had a record of 14-9 with an ERA of 2.28 in 32 starts, covering 228.2 innings, 207 strikeouts and WHIP of 0.980. On November 16, 2022, he was unanimously elected as the winner of the National League Cy Young Award, becoming the third Dominican to win this award.
This analysis covers in detail his pitching arsenal and his effectiveness against rivals. It also compares his numbers with other pitchers, allowing us to assess his performance and determine if Alcantara deserves the Cy Young award.
If you have any questions regarding the types of pitches (Fastball, Changeup, etc.), here is all the necessary information
Enjoy it 🙌
The data provided is from Baseball Savant
1- Defensive power
With 3248 pitches, Alcantara was able to strike out 207 opponents, ranking 8th in strikeouts in 2022. The pitches he used the most were Changeup with 27.56%, FS Fastball with 25.13%, and Sinker with 24.98% of the total. He had an average of 14.20 pitches per inning, which was the lowest in 2022 season.
In the chart below, we can see that the vast majority of his pitches were outside the strike zone. This reflects his control in attempting to strike out the opponent as quickly as possible or, at the very least, to have a two-strike count on the opponent to gain control of the situation.
In those areas outside the strike zone, the type of pitch he threw the most was the FS Fastball with 203 pitches, he threw 236 Sliders in the lower right corner on the outer part of the plate, and in the other corner was 227 pitches with Changeup.
Tumblr media
In the chart below, we can see each type of pitch and how many Walks, Strikeouts, and hits each one had.
The most effective pitch for striking out batters was the Changeup with 78 strikeouts, followed by the Slider with 58. Both pitches were crucial in dominating opponents by throwing outside the strike zone to deceive the rival.
On the other hand, the Sinker was not as effective, as it had the most hits allowed, and also had the highest walk count with 16.
Tumblr media
To complement this data, we will see in the following charts the strike percentage, and in another graph, each count and the type of pitch, to see which pitch resulted in getting the opponents out.
The Strikes % per Count shows that he rarely reached a 3-2 count against his opponents, reflecting both his low pitch count per inning and the probability of his opponents making contact. 28.78% of the total strikes were with the Changeup, while the other types of pitches, except for the Curveball, are at a similar level of usage when it comes to getting strikes.
It's important to note that this chart takes into account both called strikes and swinging strikes.
Also, we can see that a significant portion of his strikes were in the lower part of the strike zone and the lower outside of the strike zone.
This also depends on the opponent he was facing, but it is evident that his general intentions were to target the lower zone with pitches like Slider and Changeup.
Tumblr media
Below, we can see that Alcantara would start with any of his pitches, which also reflects the importance of the Changeup in striking out his opponents. A significant portion of his pitches in 1-0, 1-1, and 1-2 counts were with the Slider.
Overall, his pitches are well distributed, with the Changeup as his finishing pitch and the Slider to put the opponent in a 2-strike count.
Tumblr media
Among the combined sum of hit attempts and strikes, the highest percentage belongs to strikes with 60.21%, and attempts (which resulted in hits, outs, etc) with 39.79%.
This graph below shows his dominance in getting strikes and his low tendency to allow contact. We can see that in 0-0 counts, he had a low probability of allowing contact (6.35%).
Tumblr media
Now, to give you a visual reference of his Changeup, I'm providing this video with a compilation of those pitches.
youtube
A changeup is thrown with a different grip than a fastball, usually with three fingers placed on the ball, and it is intended to be thrown at a significantly slower speed compared to the fastball. Changeups are typically 10 to 15 MPH slower than the pitcher's fastball, providing a change of pace that can deceive the batter.
In the graph below (provided by Baseball Savant), we can see that all of his pitch types are above the MLB average velocity(the gray lines).
His favorite pitch, the Changeup, averages 91.8 mph. Additionally, on the chart to the right, we can observe the vertical and horizontal movement of the ball, making his Changeup slightly more "curved" than the FS Fastball(look at the video above!).
This demonstrates how dangerous this pitch is, as it initially appears to be coming at 98 mph (its average FS Fastball velocity in 2022) but ends up being a slower pitch.
This reflects why Alcantara used the Changeup to strike out his opponents.
Tumblr media
In the last chart, the percentage of batting average of the opponents faced by Alcantara with his favorite pitch, the Changeup, is shown. The chart indicates that very few batters were able to hit successfully (shown by the blue squares), highlighting its significance in deceiving the opponents who had no choice but to take a swing to see if they could make good contact.
Considering that Alcantara had a Poor/Weak rival average of 6.1%(one of the lowest averages in this category), It means that 6.1% of the times they managed to hit, the contacts were weak or poorly adjusted.
For reference, a batter who maintains an AVG of .250 is considered good.
Tumblr media
2- Cy Young Award
As the unanimous winner of the Cy Young award, Alcantara became a finalist alongside Julios Urias (Dodgers) and Max Fried (Braves), recording 6 complete games and 14 games of at least eight innings.
Additionally, his 2.28 ERA ranked second in the National League, just behind Urias' 2.16, and he kept batters to an average of .212. Now, I will show you some advanced stats that demonstrate why he was the winner.
Tumblr media
These stats (Opponent Sweet Spot % and Average Launch Angle %) showcase his great mastery in pitching the ball, considering that Sweet Spot % represents the percentage of hits that have been perfectly connected. He ranks 4th in the lowest averages in this category.
On the right-hand side, it reflects the average launch angle of hits that were connected against him, with an incredibly low average of 5.50 degrees. This demonstrates that, in general, the hits that were connected against Alcantara were almost at ground level and were not elevated enough to potentially result in doubles, triples, or home runs.
Considering that the range for a home run is between 25 to 35 degrees (depending on the power, obviously), this indicates his ability to keep the batted balls in unfavorable launch angles for the hitters.
Tumblr media
And finally, his average Changeup and FS Fastball velocity, ranking in the top 3 in both categories.

Houston Astros-Minnesota Twins Series Preview
4.7.23-Jose Urquidy RHP (0-0) 6.75 ERA Vs. Sonny Gray RHP (1-0) 0.00 ERA
4.8.23-Luis Garcia RHP (0-1) 5.40 ERA Vs. Joe Ryan RHP (1-0) 1.50 ERA
4.9.23-Hunter Brown RHP (0-0) 7.71 ERA Vs. Tyler Mahle RHP (1-0) 1.80 ERA
The Astros At A Glance- The Houston Astros opened the first week of the season at home. They split a four-game series with the White Sox and lost two out of three to the Tigers. The Astros head up to Minnesota to start a six-game road trip. Jose Altuve broke his thumb while playing for Team Venezuela in the World Baseball Classic. He might return by early-June, but David Hensley and Mauricio Dubon have been filling in at second base. The Astros didn’t re-sign Yuli Gurriel, but picked up Jose Abreu, who is a bit of an upgrade. Michael Brantley is working his way back from shoulder surgery and has been rehabbing in Florida. Yordan Alvarez is off to a hot start with a .348 average, two homres, and 10 RBI. Jose Abreu is 10-for-29 (.345) with his new team. Lance McCullers and Blake Taylor are out with elbow injuries of their own. The Twins will miss Framber Valdez and Cristian Javier in this series. The Astros are very high on Hunter Brown, who pitches on Sunday. The Houston bullpen holds a 4.13 ERA, which is in the middle of the pack of baseball. The starting staff is very good, so the Twins need to get in the bullpen, which has struggled out of the gate.
The Twins At A Glance- The Twins won the first four games of the series then faced some good pitching in Miami. Sandy Alcantara shut them down and so did Jesus Lazardo. The Twins return home with a (4-2) record and a couple of good opponents awaiting them. Trevor Larnach has been hot and is hitting 9-for-23 with a homer and six RBI. Ryan Jeffers is 4-for-9 (.444) with a homer in three games. Joey Gallo has supplied three of the team’s six homers. Jorge Polanco will begin a rehab assignment at Fort Myers on Thursday. The Twins have the best starting pitching in the season’s first week. The starters own a 1.08 ERA through six games. The pitching staff will face better lineups in the Astros and White Sox this week though. The bullpen has a 3.38 ERA, which is eleventh-best in baseball. Everyone should be available for the series opener given the Thursday off day. Jhoan Duran has not thrown since Opening Day, Jorge Lopez hasn’t thrown since Sunday, and Griffin Jax only threw nine pitches on Wednesday.
What To Watch For- The Astros won all six games against the Twins last year. For the second straight year, the Twins home opener was postponed from Thursday to Friday. There hadn’t been a home opener postponed in Target Field history until the last two seasons. Jose Urquidy has a 3.60 ERA in ten innings against the Twins. Sonny Gray is (4-4) with a 3.08 ERA in ten starts versus the Astros. Luis Garcia is (3-1) with a 2.66 ERA in four games against Minnesota. Joe Ryan gave up four runs over four innings of work in his lone start facing Houston. Tyler Mahle gave up two runs over seven innings in his only start against the Astros. Sonny Gray was walking out to “Here Comes The Sun” in spring training, so he probably will on Friday. Joe Ryan was still walking out to “Fire On The Mountain” in spring training, which was his walk-out song last year. It will be awesome to see the changes at the ballpark with the new scoreboard, Minnie & Paul sign, and the disco ball on top of the clock tower in right field. Here’s to baseball being back at Target Field.

Foreign player farming is one of the factors that greatly influence the performance of a season in professional baseball.
Especially in baseball, pitcher play, especially in the selection fight, is very important, and since two of the five starters are made up of foreigners, their performance 다파벳우회주소is often a big variable that determines the performance of the team each year.
In this regard, Doosan was deeply disappointed. The team renewed its contract with Raul Alcantara (32) who experienced 20 wins and Brandon Waddell (30), who showed off his full capacity after spending two seasons with Doosan, raising expectations for a strong one-two 해외배팅사이트순위punch that is as strong as any other team.
The problem was injury. Alcantara was out of the lineup since the beginning of the season, complaining of pain in his elbow. Alcantara was absent from the roster for 35 days, including 10 days when he was on the injured list until he left the team in early July after taking the mound at the opening game on March 23. Even after his return to the mound, he pitched poorly, and was replaced with a record of 2 메이저사이트wins, 2 losses and 4.76 earned run average (ERA) in 12 games and 64 ⅓ innings.

Cicadas, Expansion Talk and Holidays in June: Ten Things to Know in the American Assoc. This Week
Tumblr media
The American Association of Professional Baseball (@AA_Baseball) season continues with a full slate of series this weekend, all available for free live viewing at aabaseball.tv.
Here are 10 Things to Know about the AAPB this week:
The colorful cicadas may be an annoyance to some, but the Kane County Cougars aren't one to brood. Instead, with the 13-year and 17-year cycles converging (we're not entomologists, but we play them on AABaseball.tv), tonight is Kane County Cicadas Night at Northwestern Medicine Field vs. the Kansas City Monarchs. The team will wear special Cicada-themed jerseys which will be auctioned off for charity, and the first thousand fans receive a custom insect swatter.
Juneteenth, Father's Day, Flag Day, Pride Month and National Cucumber Day (ok, that one might be a stretch) are all celebrated across the country in June. But two AAPB teams have a couple of other ideas... Halloween (Chicago Dogs, Saturday) and Halfway to Christmas (Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks, Tuesday) will bring those popular holidays back a few months early.
On Tuesday, the AAPB announced another in a series of key corporate partnerships, this one with MOBILEMONEY, now the official cashless payment solutions provider to the league and its member clubs.
Sometimes a change of position can make all the difference. The Kansas City Star and Yahoo! Sports have the story of Monarchs outfielder-turned-pitcher Nate Tellier, a .342 hitter in college whose coach suspected – rightfully so – that the mound might be a better route for the righthander in the pros. So far, so good, as he’s posted a 2.11 ERA over 17 innings at press time.
Big things are happening around the AAPB, and the time might just be right to grow the footprint, which now currently extends to 12 team across 10 states. Commissioner Joshua Schaub recently discussed the prospects for expansion at Fargo’s Valley News Live, potentially doubling the number of franchises by 2028-29..
Another 10Things, Another Homecoming as Winnipeg native Ben Onyshko signed with the hometown Goldeyes last week. The 27-year-old lefty was originally selected by the Seattle Mariners out of Steston (Fla.) Univ, reaching AAA Tacoma. He started his Goldeyes career with two innings of hitless relief on Friday to help preserve a win over Sioux City.
The Gary SouthShore RailCats along with other businesses sponsored a luncheon for local businesses and leaders for clean air initiatives for Northern Indiana last week. The luncheon awarded three college scholarships to local students in the areas and recognized four businesses making voluntary efforts to improve clean air quality in 2023.
In a few alumni moves:
Kane County outfielder Je'Von Ward had his contract purchased by Toronto and homered in his first game with Single-A Vancouver on Saturday.
Now former Kansas City Monarch Blake Rutherford is heading to Mexico to play for Toros de Tijuana in the Mexican Baseball League. Rutherford, a former MLB player, originally drafted in the first round to the New York Yankees in 2016, but finally made his big league debut in 2023 with the Washington Nationals. This season with the Monarchs, he posted a .328 batting average, .911 OPS, and launched three home runs.
After hitting .331 in the Low-A Florida State League, infielder Payton Eeles (Chicago '23) was promoted to Cedar Rapids, the Twins' High-A affiliate.
The Record Watch department has its eyes on Fargo's Izzy Alcantara, who has 30 stolen bases through his team's first 33 games. The AAPB record is 71, set by the Milwaukee Milkmen’s Bryan Torres last season. Torres continues to rake with the Cardinals’ AA affiliate in Springfield, hitting in eight straight games last week to boost his average to .329 with 16 stolen bases at press time.

C's Recap - AquaSox Silenced by Miranda Rights in Game 1 + No-Hit by Harrison + Svanson in Game 2 as Canadians Sweep Doubleheader
#VanCanadians #MontysMounties #NextLevel #BlueJays #LosAzulejos
The Vancouver Canadians defeated the Everett AquaSox by scores of 8-2 and 2-0 at Funko Field at Everett Memorial Stadium on Saturday. The C’s grabbed a first-inning lead against Sox starter Raúl Alcantara when Alan Roden doubled to the right field wall, stole third with one out and tagged up to score on a one-out sacrifice fly to center field. Cade Doughty drew a walk and stole second base but…
