First crash of the season has Indyblr discord like…

anyway callum’s indy story is a bit of a roller coaster here is all i know (ive only watched one full season of indycar and i also am running on low sleep im sure others will jump in)

in 2021 callum made his indy debut for juncos hollinger racing for like 3? races. jhr is not the best team on the grid but yknow. the cars go vroom.

in 2022 callum makes his full time debut for jhr. he does alright i think he placed 20th in the championship? and then he signed a contract extension and he was supposed to stick around to 2024

in 2023 callum has this teammate agustin canapino. and agustin is like fine but his fans were kind of mean and when callum and agustin got into a little inchident the fans started sending him death threats and such. this happened more than once. agustin was not entirely blameless and did like a couple of the tweets but that’s lore for another time i think (it’s Very late for me)

anyway at the end of the season callum and jhr “parted ways” (ie callum got fired)

he went to wec for this season and won in spa !!

this year he Also filled in for david malukas a couple of times in indy—david injured his wrists in a biking accident and was out at the start of the season (and was later fired but. again. lore for another time)

and finally he’s been signed to drive for prema’s new indy team next season yippee!!

okay not to get all sappy but i really can’t overstate how much this indycar season has meant to me. i started watching indycar during this year’s indy 500, not knowing the names of any of the drivers or teams, and three months later this series has wormed its way into my heart to become my favorite motorsport series bar none. thank you so much to indyblr for being such an incredible and loving community, and thank you to all my f1 and cycling mutuals who had to deal with me yapping into their inboxes about guys they’d never heard of and speeding full gas into indycar insanity. thank you to the incredible indycar on nbc comms team who showed me that race commentary didn’t have to be a bunch of british people arguing. and to all my non-indycar watcher followers, please consider this my call to action: watch indycar. it might not have the glamour of formula one, but it has a hell of a lot more heart.
