👏🏼FUCKING THIS👏🏼👏🏼
I don't wanna hear anyone arguing that the Jedi order was oh so good and caring towards Anakin but he was such a problem child who never listened.
This is an excerpt from “There is always another”, one of the CANON short stories in "Star Wars: From A Certain Point Of View: the Empire Strikes Back":
This is extra significant because it's Obi-Wan who's talking. Obi-Wan - who never dared to question the wisdom of the Jedi order and was hard on Anakin for failing to do the same - is now the one who finally admits the truth after death, at least to himself.
Anakin was morally flawed and chose to do awful things of his own free will, but he did not fall because he was inherntly weak or wicked (Obi-Wan used to judge every fallen ex-Jedi like this). He fell because any Jedi in his position and with his trauma would have fallen.
Anakin’s trauma of surviving slavery meant that his traumatized mind would inevitably interpret the Jedi’s philosophy of “transcending selfhood” as “obliterating selfhood”.
And for an ex-slave; the concept of obliterating the self is the most terrifyingly triggering shit EVER.
Anakin and the Jedi order operated from completely different worldviews and lived realities, and it was inevitable for them to clash horrifically unless both of them were willing to understand each other and compromise.
And when we're talking about an institution of care and an individual under the care of that institution? The ultimue burden for reaching out and compromising falls on the institution, not the individual under their care.
And here's the tragic part (the part that Obi-Wan finally admitted to): It was only Anakin who made any real effort to reach out and compromise. He went to great lengths to re-shape himself to fit the Jedi order's needs. The Jedi order - in return - did very little to meet him halfway. There was no real effort on their part to understand Anakin's trauma, and they did not compromise or change anything about how they approach healing to fit Anakin's needs.
Their mantra of "letting" go" was great in theory and a wonderful solution in practice, but the Jedi did not bother to remove the mental blocks in Anakin's traumatized mind that prevented him from emotionally internalizing this wisdom and acting upon it (and isn't that the classic tension between religious/spiritual institutions and religious/spiritual people suffering from unhealed trauma?).
The Jedi order was too arrogant, too rigid, and too closed-minded that they did very little to even address the root of Anakin's trauma with slavery, let alone give him any practical tools to heal from it (and they even carelessly retraumatized him at times).
Anakin would have turned on them eventually, even if he never fell to the Dark Side. It was, sadly, an inevitable outcome.

📌Jedi Appreciation Blog
This is a Jedi appreciation blog. Extremely pro Jedi, especially the council. You won’t get anywhere by trying to change my mind about “oh but actually both sides were bad.” Or “the Jedi were the bad guys all along.” I will try to not engage in these bad faith interpretations of the Jedi.
If you are an Anakin Stan please block me. You won’t like what I have to say about him. You won’t like how I depict him in my head canons. And I definitely won’t like you writing meta’s underneath my posts about why the Jedi failed Anakin and he actually did nothing wrong and isn’t responsible for any of his own actions.
Also quite anti Padme Amidala. She, in my mind and based on her own actions in both the clone wars and the movies, is a “moderate” political figure who waffles on actions that is actually important and the fact that she hid the massacre of an entire tribe of indigenous people to protect a person she knew a total of less than a month is heinous to me.
📌DNI (mainly because I will not engage and block you so you’re wasting your time either way)
Anti Jedi Order
Thinks the Jedi Order stole kids and erased their culture
Stanikins
Anidala fans
Don’t waste your own time. Block me and move on. I won’t entertain your responses anyways.
(This is a side blog of my main, trying to move most of my Star Wars meta and fan fictions to this blog to make my main more coherent)

3 Things ask: 3, 6, 21. Have a great day! ^^
3. 3 songs that mean something to you
Why am I like this? - Orla Gartland
I just relate to it idk what else to say
2. People Watching - Conan Gray
Again I relate to it and it is such a hopeless romantic aroace vibe
3. not your fault (hey you) - yaewow
One of my friends introduced me to this song and I had previous just been through a really messy and hurtful friendship break up/collapse (basically fake friends and hurtful text messages) but it helped me realise that is wasn't my fault and that i didn't do anything wrong.
6. 3 characters that inspire you
I actually am not 100% but will give it my best shot
Steve Rogers (aka captain america) (MCU)
I just love the idea how he was a little man and how it was all about a good man not a solider. I am not like pro war or american or whatnot but liked how he was like "i don't like bullies, i don't care where they are from"
2. Leslie Knope (Parks and Rec)
She kinda makes me want to go into politics. But I just love how she was able to remain strong and smart while still being incredibly caring and goofy.
3. Samwise Gamgee (LOTR)
Im just gonna leave this quote here:
"It's like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were. And sometimes you didn't want to know the end. Because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it’s only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you. That meant something, even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn’t. They kept going, because they were holding on to something. That there is some good in this world, and it's worth fighting for."
21. 3 things you are the most passionate about
Human Rights
Just like in general, there are so many issues throughout the world that need to be worked on. Refugees, LGBTQIA+, Women, those with disabilities and struggle to access healthcare, POC and the indigenous and first nations people of countries. I am trying to generalise it all into one passion but I think there are just so many people not getting their human rights met, in all countries of the world. I want to try and make a difference in the world.
2. My fandoms
If you get me started talking about star wars (from the sequels ruining ankins sacrifice to just Anakin Skywalker in general to how you view him is based on aspects such as fate and destiny) , miraculous ladybug, percy jackson, the medoran chronicles, The 100, Scooby Doo (about how everyone in the scooby gang is 🏳️🌈) etc, I will not stop talking about it.
3. Travel and exploring the world
Considering I have never even left Australia, I just really want to travel the world. I want to go everywhere and see everything. Experience things outside of my comfort zone and learn about other cultures.

they’re catholics with the facade of buddhists if anything, fuck outta here
The problem with a lot of the arguments in Star Wars fandom is that it’s like trying to criticize the material on the grounds of it being a bad historical documentary. When you point out that it’s not a historical documentary, that it’s a space opera/fairy tale, you get back, “Apparently we’re not allowed to criticize anything anymore!” Babe, no one said that. They just said it’s not a historical documentary, meaning that if you’re going to criticize it, do it through what the story actually is, rather than by trying to jam it into a genre it was never intended to be. Anyway, that’s what it’s like trying to say, no, the Jedi aren’t Catholic, they’re Buddhists, and attachment means the desire to cling to someone so much that you’d sacrifice a thousand lives to possess them. Nobody’s stopping you from criticizing them, we’re just pointing out that using a framework that they’re not a part of goes against what they actually are and that criticism should come from their actual content, not something they never were.

*whispers in your ear* the jedi aint as holy and pure as you mfs thought ;)
Me: Opens a YouTube poll on who you would prefer to have as a Jedi Master, Anakin or Obi-wan.
Some dude in the comments: “ Yea anakin was very open and level headed he knew that attachment was good he was just at odds with the councils dogma and hypocrisy”
Me:
Bonus Points: He also said that Obi-wan realized Anakin was in the right about “the mistakes of the Order” after Anakin KILLED HIM.
….
WHAT MOVIES DID THIS GUY WATCH!?!
….
At least the poll show the majority wanted Obi-wan as a Jedi master. But just why are some people like this?

Full offense, the Jedi fucking suck. Their temple and philosophy are placebos that hide the real evil the Jedi stand for. And their “found family” dynamic reads WAY more like kidnapping and assimilation when you’re an Indigenous person who’s child ancestors were actually kidnapped and assimilated by Catholic ppl JUST like the Jedi, who thought they were “just doing the right thing”, but no, they tore millions of innocent children from their parents arms, stripped them of their culture and fundamental identity even if they didn’t speak it out loud, and the Jedi are no different to me.
You cannot change my mind either. Fuck the Jedi, fuck your religious apologism, fuck your temple, fuck your younglings, fuck your found family, fuck your wishy washy “there is no emotion, there is peace” bullshit, fuck your victim blaming of a FORMER FUCKING CHILD SLAVE WHO NEVER HAD A CHANCE TO EVEN DEVELOP AS A PERSON OR HAVE A SINGLE SENSE OF NORMALCY, fuck your victim blaming in general, fuck your covert Catholic-dickriding, and fuck you. 🖕🏼
Why do people try to tell me lies on my autistic pro jedi post???
Like...uhhhh the jedi didn't deserve genocide BUT
And Jedi say emotions are EVIL!!! Like that was never ever said whatsoever in Star Wars. Being mindful and careful or how you react to your emotions does not equal 'emotions are evil.'
Also, why the fuck would u comment on someone's post that specifically says they're pro jedi and expect the anti jedi sentiment to be listened to seriously??? Like I don't go commenting on people's anti jedi posts, I know spending my time there isn't worth it.
Anyways, the Jedi fucking rock. Their temple is super cool, and the Buddhist-inspired philosophy is actually really nice and comforting. And their found family dynamic is absolutely lovely.
You cannot change my mind.

i stand by this shit AND i’m still anti jedi/pro anakin indigenous all the way ✊🏼 you’re not the only one who grew up with star wars
Star Wars takes I’m sick of seeing:
1. When a Jedi chooses to no longer follow the path of a Jedi, they are automatically a Sith. That’s like saying if you are no longer a practicing Jew, you’re automatically a Catholic. Being a Sith has a specific set of beliefs and doctrines that must be followed, the same as being a Jedi. One can choose to no longer be a Jedi and *not* be evil or Fallen in any way, shape, or form, and this does not make them a bad person.
2. That if the Jedi were just a bit more Mandalorian, it would have Solved All Their Problems and prevented Anakin from Falling. Usually this means that if the Jedi just showed more emotion/weren’t emotionally repressed/if Obi-Wan just told Anakin he loved him/was proud of him, Anakin wouldn’t have made the decision on multiple occasions to slaughter children. There are so many “fix it” fics where this is the underlying theme.
3. Likewise, the Jedi repress their emotions. The Jedi teach their students to be *mindful* of their emotions, to not react based on a person’s first initial knee jerk response. They asked Anakin to have the same level of emotional control as a kindergartener–you don’t get to punch someone because they took your favorite toy and broke it.
3. When Mandalorians adopt children (with or without parental permission) and indoctrinate them into their culture of weaponry and violence, it’s cute; when the Jedi adopt children (usually with parental permission) and teach them to control their emotions and their psychic powers based on those emotions, they’re an evil child-snatching cult. Only the Mandalorians are capable of forming a family bond and despite being communally raised, the Jedi are incapable of forming those same bonds, probably because of all that emotional repression. But if you violate the rules of the Mandalorians, you are cast out of said “family”, whereas even someone like Darth Vader was offered a way home.
4. Love = Attachment. Attachment is about greed and possession. We are told *and* shown on multiple occasions that you can love someone and let them go. Obi-Wan does it multiple times. But when you go beyond love, when you refuse to accept loss, whether it’s external like death or internal like someone choosing to leave you, that’s when you move into Attachment, and *that* is what leads to the Dark side.
ETA, because apparently I wasn’t done:
5. The Jedi Order, which has existed for tens of thousands of years, should change everything about itself and its doctrines to suit one kid who doesn’t actually care about following other people’s rules in any circumstance.
6. Anakin Skywalker is the only Jedi who ever treated the clones like Real People, despite several blatant examples showing otherwise, and the fact that he was totally chill with them having their identities and free will stripped away from them. But because he was the only one who was Raised By A Real Mother, he’s the only one capable of showing compassion to other people.
7. That because they have accelerated aging, this makes the clones child soldiers. If they were completely non-human, no one would blink an eye at the idea of a species maturing at a different rate than humans. So they’ve only been alive for ten years? That does not make them children. Grogu has been alive for over 50 years and he’s still a toddler. Calling them children is infantilizing and demeaning.
8. Listen, I love whumping on Obi-Wan as much as the next fangirl, but I’m kinda getting tired of the whole “Obi-Wan never goes to medical/doesn’t sleep/doesn’t remember to eat” thing. He raised a whole ass padawan to adulthood. We have never actually seen him deny himself medical care, sleep, or food. He might work longer hours during the war, but so does everyone else. And the only reason I can justify him not eating isn’t because he “forgets” so much as the poor guy probably has a terrible case of decision fatigue. If all he has to do is walk to the chow hall and get served what everyone else is being served, I don’t think he’d have that much of a problem. There are, of course, extenuating circumstances to all of these based on any prior trauma he may or may not have, but otherwise it’s infantilizing.
This post is brought to you in part by fandom as well as interacting with members of the Star Wars costuming groups.
