Okay. I’m going to go there. Here are my thoughts on this travesty of a match. But first:
Here are the Indian national cricket team’s international stats
World Test Championship
2021 - Runners Up
2023 - Runners Up
ODI World Cup
2015 - Semi-Finalists
2019 - Semi-Finalists
2023 - Runners Up
T20 World Cup
2014 - Runners Up
2016 - Semi-Finalists
2022 - Semi-Finalists
Champions Trophy
2017 - Runners Up
Now, I understand the points made about Choice of Pitch and Crowd Support. I do believe the outcome would’ve been different if we’d played anywhere except Ahmedabad. And as hosts, we’ve got to give our players every advantage, including a pitch that tilts in their favour.* BUT what about all the tournaments we didn’t host? We’ve consistently made the semis and finals of almost every single major international trophy in the past decade. We’re practically giants. We don’t need a pitch advantage to win a match - we’ve demonstrated that we can get the job done and we can do it anywhere, any pitch, any country. So why can’t we win when it matters most?
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: cricket is just as much as a mental game as any other sport. We need to take note of this pattern and do something to address it. I’m not saying a sports psychologist will solve all our problems but it’s certainly a start. The minute Travis Head began to hit a few boundaries, shoulders began to droop. There were times when the fielding was so lax it felt like they couldn’t be bothered to do it faster because “eh, it’s just a single run.” Australia was on fire today. Not a single mistake, not a single toe out of line. They were in the zone, serious from the get go - and they got the job done. I have never seen that kind of coordination and perfection from our Indian team. We’re always wobbly in places, and then are stabilised and carried through by the stellar performance of a few players (who vary from match to match). We can talk about Batting Depth and Hardik’s absence from the team etc etc but the fact of the matter is we are capable enough to win on any pitch, in any conditions, as we’ve shown before, time and time again. But not if it’s a final. And I just think that’s a problem worth addressing with a solution that goes beyond “shiny new pitch, better gyms, and new talent.”
*I know it's technically ICC who prepares pitches but iykyk

“Stay Tuned…”: A Follow-Up
girlautomatic:
Alright, boys and girls, here is what we’ve come up with so far, loosely organized by channel and then a MISC section for everything else. I know this whole thing might not add up to any super-special mystery, but it’s fun to talk about, no? And, as one of the commenters brought up, Gerard did say he wanted it to be something fun.
So! What’s been guessed at so far:
Channel 0: I’m referring to the blank yellow channel that appears to be off, but still shows some kind of signal. It’s like the “home” channel.
RFDD: Looks like your standard issue NTSC Test Pattern or Test Card, down to that annoying single high-pitched beeeeeeeeeeee… No idea what the acronym/abbreviation might mean, though.
BLND: Screen also looks like a Test Card, but more in the style of the Indian Style Test Card, except it’s got a smiling mouse-like creature that appears to have a bullet hole through the head. (I could be wrong?) Tumblr User Leedek suggested that BLND might stand for “Bland”, as in elevator music. The song is likely in the bossa nova style (and decidedly not that bland) but nobody’s been able to figure out what the name of it is yet. It also appears to start out loud but progressively fade as the song continues.
WKIL: Thermal imaging of a man seen from the profile view. If you stay on this screen long enough, the man will change various colors, eventually looping back to the starting point. There’s also a lot of static noise going on, but underneath it one can ear the sound of a drumbeat similar to “Cemetery Drive”, along with possibly the sound of horns or someone singing. User Clarev raised the question that perhaps it has to do with announcing the arrival of a new drummer. Personally, I think it’s more about announcing their return to their more punkish roots after the huge theatrical performance that was The Black Parade. It could be both. It could be nothing. Who knows? Also, no idea what the acronym/abbreviation might mean.
KLSK: Leedek suggested that perhaps this stands for “Classic”, and it rather makes sense. The screen features what is either a radioactive symbol or one of those old-school recording reels. It’s also got “KLSK” written on one of the yellow “rays” while the other two look either muddy or bloody. Also, I feel kind of old for knowing this (though I’m only 23), but the song playing is America’s “A Horse with no Name”. It’s actually a pretty cool jam.
HRBT: Another Test Card screen! I’ve got no similarity equivalent for this one, although I did think for a while that it looked a bit like Test Card F. (If you’ve seen the British show Life on Mars, you might recognize the girl and doll in the middle.) They don’t really look that much alike, though… A couple of you suggested that this abbreviation is for “Heartbeat”, especially since it features what appears to be a lifeline barely visible in the middle of the Test Card, and the beeping sounded perhaps like a heart monitor. Others of you suggested that it probably wasn’t a heart monitor, since that would be so 2006. XD I initially thought it might’ve been Morse Code, but I quickly tossed that out when it only produced gibberish. My history of spending time in hospitals says it does sound familiar, especially since real electrocardiograms (aka, heart monitors) tend not to sound the way they do on TV. (No patient would be able to sleep if they did!) It makes me think of those machines that measure pulse, blood pressure and the body’s oxygen level. The name of it escapes me right now.
MISC: User Eric Lee pointed out that the counters go up to 59 and then restart. Does that mean it’s a clock? (There was also a comment about Halloween, but I didn’t quite understand the connection. I’m sorry. D:) There’s also the fact that the counters are counting up, at various speeds, as opposed to counting down to something. There’s also still the acronym/abbreviation of PTTP on the bottom…
Questions: - What exactly is the machine? Is it a portable television? A radio? Some futuristic alien scanner? - Why are they delighting in melting our brains? - Has anyone thought of scouring the internet to see if any side sites have popped up? I remember during The Great TBP Mystery of 2006, that in addition to the main MCR site, there was a side site for The Black Parade that was all sorts of weird for a while. (It’s since gone down completely, along with the creepy variation that was just a dead flatline around the time that The Black Parade is Dead! came out. Maybe there’s something hiding out there? I’ve got the Disqus comment app enabled, and it has OpenID, so you can probably sign in with your Tumblr. (Plus, it offers more word/character space! :D) Don’t pay too much attention to the question at the end of this long post; I just needed a way to enable answers again for those more comfortable using that. (But if you get the reference, you win an internet cookie.) ETA: I was skimming other Tumblr posts and found this take on the WKIL channel from user Wind-Addiction: WKIL - a very strange one: there’s a heatscan-looking image of the silhouette of a man’s head along with a bar of colors. the man changes colors/heats up and cools down over the course of a few minutes. someone suggested the cooling of the body means he’s dead. someone said that the channel is the name of an old pirate radio station called WeKill from the 80s. another said the man was alfred Hitchcock. idk. audio is radio static fading in and out, beeps, possibly some music in the background, which would confirm the pirate radio theory.
You can read the full post here. Why is a raven like a writing desk?
Some of this information is now outdated, but it still offers a great description of the mysterious transmitter and the different images and recordings. It’s also a perfect example of the mystery and scrutiny that defined the beginning of the DD era.

Why is Indian Polity Important in the UPSC Exam?
Indian Polity is foundational to understanding the functioning of the Indian Constitution, governance, and administrative systems. It offers insights into the rights and responsibilities of citizens, the structure of government, and the principles that guide India's democratic setup. The UPSC tests aspirants on these topics to ensure they have a comprehensive understanding of India's political framework.
Tumblr media
Important Books for Indian Polity
Selecting the right resources is essential to covering the vast syllabus efficiently. Here are the top recommended books:
Indian Polity by M. Laxmikanth Often referred to as the "Bible for Indian Polity" in UPSC preparation, this book is comprehensive and easy to understand. It covers fundamental concepts and provides detailed explanations on every topic. The book’s well-organized structure makes it easy to revisit topics during revisions.
Introduction to the Constitution of India by D.D. Basu This book is ideal for understanding the Constitution's complex aspects and is excellent for detailed study, particularly for the Mains examination. It provides deep insights into the Constitution’s philosophy and its judicial interpretations.
Indian Polity by NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling) The NIOS material on Indian Polity offers concise and reliable content and is a good source for building foundational knowledge, especially if you're starting with zero knowledge on the subject.
Our Parliament by Subhash Kashyap This book gives an in-depth look into the working of the Indian Parliament. It’s beneficial for candidates who want to gain practical insights into the legislative process and parliamentary procedures.
India Year Book Published by the Government of India, this book is a must-read for current affairs related to polity. It includes the latest policies, amendments, and government schemes, making it relevant for both Prelims and Mains.
Effective Tips to Prepare Indian Polity for UPSC
Here are some essential tips to streamline your preparation:
Build Conceptual Clarity Avoid rote learning. Polity requires a clear understanding of core concepts like the Preamble, Fundamental Rights, Directive Principles, and Union-State relations. Focus on grasping the underlying principles of each concept.
Focus on Static Syllabus First Cover the static portion thoroughly. Indian Polity is often directly taken from the Constitution, so understanding its provisions, articles, and schedules is crucial. Refer to M. Laxmikanth's book, and then move on to other resources.
Integrate Current Affairs with Polity Regularly read newspapers, government publications, and trusted online resources to keep track of any amendments, landmark judgments, or important changes in polity. This will also help in answering questions in the Mains where current affairs and Polity overlap.
Practice MCQs for Prelims Practicing multiple-choice questions is essential for Polity. Focus on solving past years' question papers and taking timed mock tests to identify any weak areas.
Write Structured Answers for Mains The Mains exam demands structured, concise answers. For Indian Polity questions, use headings, subheadings, and bullet points to make your answers easy to read. Practice writing answers that are backed by data, recent examples, and Constitutional articles.
Revision is Key Indian Polity requires regular revision, especially because of the extensive articles and provisions. Make a revision timetable and frequently revisit topics to strengthen your retention.
Common Mistakes to Avoid in Indian Polity Preparation
Ignoring Basics: Many aspirants jump to current affairs without solidifying the basics. Start with the Constitution and then move on to recent developments.
Skipping Previous Year Questions: UPSC often repeats question patterns. Studying past questions can give you an idea of what to focus on.
Overloading with Too Many Sources: Stick to a few reliable sources. M. Laxmikanth’s book along with current affairs is usually sufficient.

[ad_1] Scenes from India’s practice session ahead of the 3rd test vs NZ (Image: Subhayan Chakraborty) The white lines marking the off and leg stumps were back in the India nets as the Men in Blue sweated it out at the Wankhede Stadium on the eve of the third and final Test against New Zealand. The focus was firmly on the two senior-most batters in the team, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, following their inconsistent run of form in the longest format of the game. Kohli was the first to walk out to bat in the nets. The primary focus was on the farthest net, where all the main spinners — Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Washington Sundar, and Ravindra Jadeja — were operating. Kohli took on the spinners, and unlike his match form, looked at ease against them all. By the time Kohli had settled in, other top-order batters like Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill also took charge in the adjacent nets, while captain Rohit Sharma kept a close eye from a bench just behind the nets. For Kohli, the focus was more on playing on the back foot as he fine-tuned his cuts and back-foot punches. Occasional sweeps were also observed, but the Indian batting maestro, who has scored 6, 17, 47, 29*, 0, 70, 1, and 17 in the last four Tests, tackled the spinners quite well. While the focus was mostly on settling down with his backfoot game, interestingly, he was also using his feet more with longer strides to punch down the ground in the ‘V’ region, occasionally dancing down the track for good-length deliveries. There were some big hits on display as well, with Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel often at the receiving end of Kohli’s lofted strokes. However, when Kohli switched to another net where Akash Deep and a few young net bowlers were bowling, he was beaten several times. On his first delivery from a youngster, he extended his stride to drive and was comfortably beaten. The next ball, a sharp inswinger from another youngster, also troubled Kohli. Yet, once he settled in, there were some crisp shots that caught the eye. Red or black? Throw in soil of a few other hues when it comes to preparing a pitch? For India, it’s crucial not to lose sleep over the nature of pitch and just get along with the game instead.@atreyom #INDvNZhttps://t.co/MVF8lyRY4y — RevSportz Global (@RevSportzGlobal) October 31, 2024   By the time Kohli was done, Rohit was fully padded up and took charge against the pacers for a brief period. Rohit looked focused, leaving more deliveries and defending those in the off-stump channel. There were no flashy shots; Rohit seemed intent on simply trusting his defense, which has been a concern in his Test batting pattern. For Rohit, the scores in the last four Tests have been 6, 5, 23, 8, 2, 52, 0, and 8. With an army of net bowlers present, this was possibly the last training session for the Indian team before the Mumbai Test, after which they will fly out to Perth for the five-Test series Down Under. Even other batters like Sarfaraz Khan, Rishabh Pant, and Shubman Gill were more focused on defending the ball rather than going for fancy drives or big hits. Gautam Gambhir, the India head coach, in the pre-match press conference, emphasised the importance of having a solid foundation and good defence for being a successful cricketer across formats. “To be a successful Test cricketer, look at players like Virat, all the great players who’ve done really well in Test cricket over a long period, they’ve always had a good defence. The foundation of your batting in Test cricket must be defence,” Gambhir explained. “It’s probably due to playing on flat wickets in T20 cricket. But we need to keep working on our defence, we need to keep tightening our game. Because Test cricket is Test cricket. “And we need to keep getting better. We need to improve our defence. This is crucial, especially on a turning track. Because if you’ve got confidence in your defence, a lot of things can be managed. And that’s something we need to keep improving, keep working on.
Sometimes you get so used to muscling the ball that you forget about using soft hands, which was more common 8 or 10 years ago. The foundation is very, very important.” Is IPL retention deadline day a distraction ahead of 3rd Test? 📆 21 Oct 2024 📰 Indian population sees 30 per cent rise in antinuclear antibody positivity flollowing-COVID-19 infection 🗞️ India Economic Times
Antinuclear antibodies (ANA) are proteins produced by the immune system that mistakenly target the body’s own cells. While the immune system typically protects against infections, ANA positivity can lead to tissue damage and result in autoimmune diseases. Conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and thyroid disorders are often associated with ANA positivity and can cause symptoms like inflammation, joint pain, and fatigue. The presence of ANA serves as a key marker for healthcare professionals in diagnosing and monitoring autoimmune disorders.
The prevalence of ANA positivity substantially increased post-COVID. In 2019, the total ANA-positive cases stood at 39.3 per cent, while in 2022, it surged to 69.6 per cent. Females were found to have more positivity compared to males; however, this trend was similar to pre-COVID. The highest rate of ANA positivity was observed in individuals aged 31-45 years, followed by those aged 46-60 years. Individuals over 60 years consistently maintained high positivity rates in both the pre- and post-COVID periods. There was a notable 9 per cent increase in the nuclear homogeneous pattern, often linked to systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and rheumatoid arthritis, in 2022 compared to 2019.
Tumblr media
Commenting on the study, Dr Alap Christy, Vice President & Scientific Business Head – Clinical Chemistry, Global Reference Laboratory, Metropolis Healthcare Limited, said, “The sharp rise in ANA positivity post-COVID is linked to the immune system’s intensified response to the virus. In some cases, this heightened immune activity causes the body to mistakenly attack its own tissues, triggering or worsening autoimmune diseases. Clinicians have increasingly observed a surge in autoimmune conditions following the pandemic, with research indicating that the body’s immune response to COVID-19 may be a key factor..."
The antinuclear antibody (ANA) test is recognised as one of the gold standard screening tools for diagnosing autoimmune diseases. However, ANA is just the starting point—once positive, it can be followed by a range of advanced tests such as ELISA and ImmunoBlot to confirm the diagnosis and understand the specific autoimmune condition.

How to Prepare for the IAS Exam with Limited Time
Tumblr media
The IAS exam of India is serious and comprehensive in nature. The time needed for preparation is also significant, leaving very little left if you have a tight schedule. So whether you are working or studying, a tight schedule is no excuse in the preparation for IAS. In this blog, we will see some effective strategies that will help you to optimize your preparation and make most out of whatever time you have. We will also emphasize how enrolling yourself in one of the best IAS academies in Coimbatore can really improve your preparation process much better.
1. Assess Your Situation
Before you begin to plunge head first into a preparation plan, an assessment of your current situation is highly important. Be aware of how much time you can realistically devote to IAS preparation in a day and week, and then only prepare a study plan that is workable with achievable goals.
2. Setting Goals That Are Well-defined and Clear
Set certain specific, clear-cut, achievable goals for your IAS preparation. Although the syllabus is huge, divide it into meaningful bits and draw clearly defined deadlines for each section. These goals have to be SMART: specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound. You may, for example, set a goal to complete the Indian Polity section within two weeks, revise it thoroughly, and then go on to the next topic.
A well-structured study plan is required in particular when one has less time. Fix the hours of the day for different subjects and try to follow the timetable drawn. Reserve enough time for revision, tests, and briefing of current affairs. Put more effort into subjects which carry more weightage and in which you lack competence.
Example Study Plan
Morning (1-2 hours): Current affairs/newspaper analysis.
Afternoon (2-3 hours): Core subjects like Indian History or Geography
Evening (1-2 hours): Answer writing practice or past years' solved question papers
Night (1 hour): Revision of key concepts or going through flashcards
4. Focus on Core Subjects
Try to focus more on those subjects that carry more weightage in the IAS exam, as there is a crunch in time. The core subjects that fall under this category are general studies, Indian polity, geography, history, and economy. Devote more time to these subjects without neglecting any other subject.
5. Studying Down to the Best Required Materials
Good study material that will comprehensively cover the IAS syllabus: standard textbooks, supplemented by reference books, previously asked question papers, and information available on the internet. Avoid overloading yourself with resources because that would just result in overloading of information and confusion. Invest time in choosing the right material; it will be key to how you study.
Online resources can be of great help at the time of scarcity of time. Look for authentic websites, online lectures, and video tutorials that can help you understand complex topics quickly. Many IAS aspirants find that online resources supplement their study plans effectively.
7. Practice Mock Tests and Previous Years' Papers
Regular practice is the key to self-assessment of what your plus and minus points are. Ensure you include mock tests and previous papers in your regular study time. This practice will not only make you familiar with the pattern but also help you manage your time in the actual examination.
8. Join a Quality IAS Academy

9. Use Study Groups and Forums
You can draw additional support and motivation by joining study groups or forums. Having discussions with other students who are also preparing for the IAS examination helps in the sharing of ideas, clearing of doubts, and getting new insights. Many times, groups help in keeping the motivation and focus that are very much needed when preparing under a time crunch.
10. Maintain a Balanced Lifestyle
It is vital to live life in a balanced way to maintain healthy fitness of mind and body. Make sure you are getting enough to sleep. Eat well, and give yourself the chance to exercise. You can meditate or do some breathing exercises to relax. A healthy lifestyle gives a lot of positive effect on better performance and concentration.
11. Keep Updated on Current Affairs
Current affairs occupy an important place in both Preliminary and Mains. Allot a specific time every day to read newspapers, refer to good news sources, and note down important current events. Keeping current affairs updated will also help not only during the exam but in the interview stage too.
12. Focus on Answer Writing Skills
Effective answer writing is the basic demand of the IAS Mains examination. You need to work on a regular answer writing practice in order to develop a good pace and hold over writing. Try to bring more clarity and brevity in your answers while addressing all the question's demands. Your answer writing practice can be perfected by providing your written answer scripts to any mentor or peer for taking their feedback on it.
13. Regularly Review and Revise
Revision helps you retain information and be well prepared for the examination. Allocate some time each week for a revision of work that you have covered. Summary notes or flashcards will help you go over the matter fast and strengthen your learning.
14. Seek Professional Guidance
Never hesitate to take professional help when you find it really hard in a certain area or need the right mentoring and tips for it. Most of the IAS academy centers usually mentor and guide you the way that will be perfect personally and help you to prepare with good motivation and without straying from the track.
15. Stay Positive and Motivated
Above all, it is about essentially maintaining a positive attitude and keeping oneself motivated during the entire cycle of preparation. Keep telling yourself about your goals and reasons behind taking up the IAS examination. Surround yourself by friends and family, supportive of you, and motivating you in every way possible.
Conclusion
Preparation for the IAS examination in a short time might be a little difficult to manage; yet, with a strategic approach and proper resources, it is achievable. Joining the best IAS coaching academy in Coimbatore will give you the structured guidance and support necessary for shortening the time length of preparation, but keep your regular lifestyle balanced, continue with daily current affairs, and practice rigorously. Hard work and appropriate strategies together can help you achieve your objective of being a successful IAS candidate.

Preparation Strategies
Understand the Syllabus: The Mains syllabus is extensive and requires a thorough understanding. Divide the syllabus into manageable sections and make a detailed study plan covering all areas.
Read Standard Textbooks: Use standard reference books and study materials for each subject. For General Studies, books such as “India’s Struggle for Independence” by Bipin Chandra, “Introduction to the Constitution of India” by D.D. Basu, and “Indian Economy” by Ramesh Singh are recommended. For optional subjects, refer to subject-specific textbooks and research papers.
Practice Answer Writing: Regular practice of answer writing is crucial. Develop the ability to write clear, concise, and well-structured answers. Focus on improving presentation, including using bullet points and headings where appropriate.
Work on Time Management: Practice writing answers within the allocated time to build efficiency and speed. Time management is essential during the exam to ensure that all questions are attempted.
Revise Regularly: Regular revision of notes and key concepts helps in retaining information. Create summary notes for quick revision before the exam.
Solve Previous Years’ Papers: Analyzing and solving previous years’ question papers helps in understanding the exam pattern and types of questions asked. It also aids in identifying important topics and recurring themes.
Stay Updated: Keep abreast of current affairs and contemporary issues as they are often relevant for General Studies papers and the Essay paper.
Key Insights for Success
Holistic Preparation: Prepare comprehensively for all papers. Focus on building a deep understanding of concepts rather than rote learning.
Answer Writing Skills: Develop a habit of writing structured and relevant answers. Practice framing answers that are analytical and well-reasoned.
Health and Well-being: Maintain a balanced lifestyle with adequate rest and nutrition. Stress management and mental well-being are crucial for effective preparation.
Conclusion

[ad_1] Virat Kohli in nets (PC: Debasis Sen) Players are remembered for different reasons. Some for their deeds and some for failures. Virat Kohli’s case is a queer one. Unquestionably one of the greatest of batters of his generation, he has been spoken about of late for his inability to cope with spin bowling. His records are still quite overwhelming. However, there is a reason to think that he will be remembered for both reasons. This is the tale of a strange contradiction. Kohli is on the same pedestal with Joe Root, Steve Smith and Kane Williamson. They are the contemporaries he is compared with. There is no doubt that the Indian is head and shoulders above these peers when it comes to one-day cricket. He is perhaps the best batter in the history of the 50-over game. At the same time, it is difficult to overlook that Kohli’s average has dipped below 50, unlike Root (51.01), Smith (56.97) and Williamson (54.48). For a long time, the Indian averaged above 50 in all three formats. While he still scores at 58-plus in ODIs and 48-plus in T20Is, the corresponding figure in the longest format reads 48.31 at the moment. It’s an impressive number by any stretch of imagination. But to qualify as an all-time great in Test cricket, a batter usually has to average above 50, if he is not an opener. Indian greats like Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid all did that. At the moment, Kohli is slightly below that standard and unless there is a sharp rise, he will remain below 50. One reason Kohli has not been able to maintain those standards is his vulnerability against spin. It was first noticed in the Indian Premier League against leg-spinners. Subsequently, he got out against spin of other varieties in the longest format. Notably, not many of those dismissals were caused by leg-spinners. Be it off-spin or left-arm orthodox, Kohli succumbed with increasing regularity. It has to be admitted that on a number of occasions, these failures came on pitches tailor-made for spinners. In several home Test series, India opted for turners in order to secure World Test Championship points. This resulted in a dip in the numbers of most other batters and not just Kohli. Undoubtedly, that played a big part in his inability to score big against spin. Think of Smith, Root and Williamson. They didn’t have to bat in spin-friendly conditions as often as Kohli had to. Their challenges were different and Kohli has been almost as successful as them in conditions they are more familiar with. Last year in South Africa in extreme conditions favouring seam and swing, Kohli was perhaps the best batter from both sides. He averages 49.50 out there and above 54 in Australia. These are remarkable numbers. For More Sports Related Content Click here Virat Kohli (Source: X) However, the lean returns against spin at home in recent years are equally true. Like nobody can dispute his scoring prowess abroad in conditions Indians are uncomfortable in, his tendency to lose the plot against spinners is equally indisputable. The ugly manner of his dismissal against Mitchell Santner in the second Test against New Zealand was an aberration as far as the shot attempted was concerned. It didn’t go against what had been the pattern. This is in stark contrast with the greatest of Indian batters, whose names are mentioned in the same breath with Kohli. Gavaskar, Tendulkar and Dravid were master players of spin of all kind and conquerors. They also had to negotiate tricky pitches at times. Unlike Kohli, they didn’t show this level of discomfort against that particular variety of bowling. At this stage, it’s unlikely that this gap will be bridged. Does it mean Kohli won’t be regarded as India’s all-time greats or one of the best Test batters of his generation? The answer is a loud no. His exploits are there for all to see. He scored centuries in all the countries he has played in except for Bangladesh and dominated some of the best bowlers of his generation. The manner of scoring those runs will be remembered.
At the same time, his late vulnerability against spin will also be remembered. It will remain a small blotch on his glittering career. Even the best of creations are not perfect. Kohli — the work of art, craft and more — is like that when it comes to spin. Nobody will forget the runs he made. Some will also remember this late shortcoming.
