Desert
As i live in Ajmer, Rajasthan, I will most probably be making my biome on desert only.
The Thar Desert, also known as the Great Indian Desert, is a large arid region in the northwestern part of the Indian subcontinent that covers an area of 200,000 km2  and forms a natural boundary between India and Pakistan.
It is the world's 17th largest desert, and the world's 9th largest hot subtropical desert.
It is situated in Indian subcontinent in the largest state, Rajasthan
The Thar Desert extends between the Aravalli Hills in the north-east, the Great Rann of Kutch along the coast and the alluvial plains of the Indus River in the west and north-west. Most of the desert area is covered by huge shifting sand dunes that receive sediments from the alluvial plains and the coast.
Tumblr media
Due to the Desert Geography, temperature climb above 40 to 45 degrees Celsius in most places. Due to its location, summers are the longest season in Rajasthan.
The cold weather commences early in October and ends around the end of February and sometimes the temperatures reach nearly 2-degree Celsius’
The annual average temperature is 25 degree Celsius
Average precipitation in Jaipur of Rajasthan(mm) is  637.4
The climate of Rajasthan keeps varying throughout the state. In the desert areas, it is usually hot and dry in summer and cold during the winters. Coming to the Aravali range, to the west, both rainfall and humidity are low. While to the east, weather can be characterized by high humidity and better rainfall.
Desert plants may have to go without fresh water for years at a time. Some plants have adapted to the arid climate by growing long roots that tap water from deep underground. Other plants, such as cacti, have special means of storing and conserving water.
The most common plant found in deserts is cactus
THEY ALSO HAVE
Specialized skin surface. The cacti have a waxy, shiny skin that helps them survive the harsh weather conditions in some of their natural habitats.
The spines.
Specialized root system
And  flowers.
Tumblr media
The other plant commonly found is khejri
Tumblr media
Khejri Tree is a small moderate sized evergreen thorny tree, with slender branches armed with conical thorns and with light bluish-green foliage. Leaves are double compound. The leaflets are dark green, and have a tiny point.
OTHER THREE TYPES OF PLANTS THAT LIVES ON DESERT ARE
shrubs, and grasses ,  succulents
Desert animals have evolved ways to help them keep cool and use less water. Camels can go for weeks without water, and their nostrils and eyelashes can form a barrier against sand. Many desert animals, such as the fennec fox, are nocturnal, coming out to hunt only when the brutal sun has descended. Some animals, like the desert tortoise in the southwestern United States, spend much of their time underground. Most desert birds are nomadic, crisscrossing the skies in search of food. And among insects, the Namibian desert beetle can harvest fog from the air for water. Because of their very special adaptations, desert animals are extremely vulnerable to changes in their habitat.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
TREATS TO DESERT
Global warming is increasing the incidence of drought, which dries up water holes. Higher temperatures may produce an increasing number of wildfires that alter desert landscapes by eliminating slow-growing trees and shrubs and replacing them with fast-growing grasses.
This vast amount of pollution can have various effects on the Sonoran environment. ... These storms could spread deadly disease-infested dirt through the air and far around the desert, endangering the health of all species in the desert in Phoenix, including humans in the city

📍✈️Carleen Goes to Taiwan: Day 2 (Sunshine Cafe + Taipei Zoo + Raohe Night Market)
Tumblr media
Day 2 in Taiwan was mostly spent in one of the largest zoos in the world and the largest in Southeast Asia, Taipei Zoo. The night of day 2 was spent for another night market in Raohe.
But before going to Taipei Zoo, we started the day by going to Elephant Mountain.
Keep on reading to know the hole in a wall cafe we found and the different animals we saw inside the zoo.
DAY 2 MAY 24, 2019
Tumblr media
To be able to go to Elephant Zoo, you may take the MRT:
1. From Ximen Station: Take Songshan-Xindian Line/Green Line (to Taipower Building/ to Xindian) 2. Alight at Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall Station 3. Transfer to Tamsui-Xinyi Line/Red Line (to Xiangshan) 4. Alight at at Xiangshan Station
From the MRT Xiangshan Station, it is about 15 - 20 minutes walk to be able to reach Elephant Mountain. There are signage that will guide you going there.
Tumblr media
Climbing to reach the top will take approximately 20 - 30 minutes. However, after 5 minutes of climbing the stairs, I gave up and went down since I felt like I was gonna have an asthma attack. So safety first, and decided to skip this.
Tumblr media
Upon waiting for my 2 other friends who continued the trek, my friend and I had a little exploring within the area of Elephant Mountain.
----------
SUNSHINE CAFE
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We saw a “hole in a wall” cafe that truly exceeded my expectation for their food and interiors. I really do adore their vintage-themed interiors.
Tumblr media
The Menu
Tumblr media
Pat and I ordered Brown Sugar Milk Tea (NT$180/PHP306) and Earl Grey Milk Tea (NT$160/PHP272). Both Milk Teas tastes amazing and was better compared to the milk tea we tried fir day 1. The milk teas were less sweet comparing to the milk teas here in the Philippines.
Tumblr media
Their New York Style Cheesecake (NT$150/PHP255) is the best cheesecake I have tasted! Sweetness was just right, and with each bite, you would be craving for more.
Tumblr media
Overall, 2 thumbs up for this cafe! Their staff was very accommodating and nice. Food and cafe ambience was also very good. If given a chance to be in Taipei again, I would definitely visit this cafe once again!
----------
TAIPEI ZOO
After taking a break at Sunshine Cafe, we were all ready to go to Taipei Zoo.
Tumblr media
To go to be Taipei Zoo from MRT Xiangshan Station:
1. Take Tamsui-Xinyi Line/Red Line (to Tamsui) 2. Alight at Daan Station 3. Transfer to Wenhu Line/Brown Line (to Taipei Zoo) 4. Alight at Taipei Zoo Station
From the Taipei Zoo station, it is about 5 minutes walk from the entrance of the zoo.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Entrance ticket costs NT$60(PHP102) per person for over the age of 6 and NT$30 (PHP51) for children ages 6 years old and below.
Tumblr media
Before exploring the zoo, we ate lunch first. We bought our food from the a smal stall beside the McDonald’s. I ordered the Braised Sirloin Rice (NT$ 129/PHP219.3) that comes with drinks. The order came with some veggies, egg, and tofu. Taste-wise, it is actually good and will definitely make you full.
Below will be photos I took inside the zoo.
Tumblr media
Flamingos were the one we saw first!
Tumblr media
Left: Swinhoe’s Pheasant | Right: Collared Scops Owl
Tumblr media
Clouded Leopard
The Leopard was so cute just lying down and I think was playing with cage or leaves.
Tumblr media
Pangolin
We went to Insectarium next

Butterflies
Tumblr media
Beetle
After seeing the insects, we passed by the Koala house.

Unfortunately, our original itinerary to try the Maokong Gondola was not pushed through since it was under maintenance. We were sad for not being able to try it, however, we definitely had a lot of fun seeing the animals.
Next for our itinerary is the Raohe Night Market.
RAOHE NIGHT MARKET
Tumblr media
Raohe Night Market is one the oldest night markets in Taipei. It is located beside the Ciyou Temple.
Tumblr media
To go to Raohe St. Night Market, we took the MRT from the Taipei Zoo.
1. Take Wenhu Line/Brown Line (to Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center) 2. Alight at Nanjing Fuxing Station 3. Transfer to Songshan-Xindian Line/Green Line (to Songshan) 4. Alight at Songshan Station EXIT 5
The entrance of the night market is right across the station, beside the temple.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pat and I shared food that we bought from the night market to be able to try more. We were able to try Pork bun (NT$55/PHP93.5), Bacon and Egg (NT$50/PHP85), Strawberry Coated Candy (NT$50/PHP85), Raspberry (NT$40/PHP68), Takoyaki Cheese flavor (NT$60/PHP102), Egg Pudding Oreo Shaved  Ice (NT$95/PHP161.50), Potato Twirl ( NT$60/PHP102), and Caramel Waffle (NT$50/PHP85).
Everything we ordered was scrumptious! The price was worth it for the quantiity and quality of the food.
Tumblr media
On the way back to the station, we saw a cute dog with eyebrows. 😂
Day 2′s original plan on our itinerary was to try the Maokong Gondola, however, it was closed during that day until the 1st week of June since it is under maintenance. It was sad to hear about that but we really enjoyed seeing the animals and trying the different kind of foods in Raohe.
I think the closing of Maokong Gondola was a blessing in disguise since if it was pushed through, we wouldn’t be able to explore the whole zoo. It took us about 5-6 hours stay inside the zoo.
TIP: Since the main transportation when traveling to Taiwan is the MRT, the easycard will be a big help to save you money and time when using it. One easycard is NT$100 (PHP170).

To see more of what we saw in the zoo and our opinions about the food we bought in Raohe Night Market, you may watch my vlog below:

Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve
Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve is a shot film created by Pranav Pandya comprising of photographs taken by him on his four safaris to the Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve in Central India  from 11th to 13th March, 2020. Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve is located in Chandrapur district of Maharashtra state in India. It is Maharashtra's oldest and largest national park. Created in 1995, the Reserve includes the Tadoba National Park and the Andhari Wildlife Sanctuary. The Reserve consists of 577.96 square kilometres (223.15 sq mi) of reserved forest and 32.51 square kilometres (12.55 sq mi) of protected forest. To the southwest is the 120 hectares (300 acres) Tadoba Lake which acts as a buffer between the park's forest and the extensive farmland which extends up to Irai water reservoir. This lake is a perennial water source which offers a good habitat for Muggar crocodiles to thrive. Other wetland areas within the reserve include Kolsa Lake and the Andhari River. Tadoba reserve covers the Chimur Hills, and the Andhari sanctuary covers the Moharli and Kolsa ranges. It is bounded on the northern and western sides by densely forested hills. Thick forests are relieved by smooth meadows and deep valleys as the terrain slopes from north to south. Cliffs, talus, and caves provide refuge for several animals. The two forested rectangles are formed of the Tadoba and Andhari ranges. The south part of the park is less hilly than the remainder. "Tadoba" is taken from the name of the god "Tadoba" or "Taru", worshipped by the tribes who live in the dense forests of the Tadoba and Andhari region, while "Andhari" refers to the Andhari river that meanders through the forest. Legend holds that Taru was a village chief who was killed in a mythological encounter with a tiger. Taru was deified and a shrine dedicated to Taru now exists beneath a large tree on the banks of Tadoba Lake. The temple is frequented by adivasis, especially during a fair held annually in the Hindu month of Pausha (December–January). The Gond kings once ruled these forests in the vicinity of the Chimur hills. Hunting was banned in 1935. Two decades later, in 1955, 116.54 square kilometres (45.00 sq mi) of this forest area was declared a national park. Andhari Wildlife Sanctuary was created in the adjacent forests in 1986. In 1995, the park and the sanctuary were merged to establish the present tiger reserve. Winters stretch from November to February; during this season, daytime temperature are in the 25°-30°C range and the park is lush green. Summers are extremely hot in Tadoba as the temperature can go up to 47°C; even so it is the ideal time to sight mammals near water lakes as the vegetation is also rare, increasing visibility. The monsoon season begins in June; the area receives heavy rainfall during this season (approx.1275 mm) and humidity hovers around 66%. Tadoba reserve is a predominantly southern tropical dry deciduous forest with dense woodlands comprising about eighty seven per cent of the protected area. Teak is the predominant tree species. Other deciduous trees found in this area include ain (crocodile bark), bija, dhauda, hald, salai, semal and tendu. Beheda, hirda, karaya gum, mahua madhuca (crepe myrtle), palas (flame-of-the-forest, Butea monosperma) and Lannea coromandelica (wodier tree). Axlewood (Anogeissus latifolia, a fire-resistant species), black plum and arjun are some of the other tropical trees that grow in this reserve. Aside from the keystone species, the Bengal tiger, Tadoba Tiger Reserve is home to other mammals, including: Indian leopards, sloth bears, gaur, nilgai, dhole, striped hyena, small Indian civet, jungle cats, sambar, barking deer, chital, chausingha and honey badger. Tadoba lake sustains the marsh crocodile, which was once common all over Maharashtra. A black panther was spotted in May 2018. As per the officials, it is a rare sight since black panthers normally live in evergreen forests and not in dry deciduous forests like Tadoba Tiger Reserve. Reptiles here include the endangered Indian python and the common Indian monitor. Terrapins, Indian star tortoise, Indian cobra and Russel's viper also live in Tadoba. The lake contains a wide variety of water birds, and raptors. 195 species of birds have been recorded, including three endangered species. The grey-headed fish eagle, the crested serpent eagle, and the changeable hawk-eagle are some of the raptors seen in the park. Other bird species found in the reserve include the orange-headed thrush, Indian pitta, crested treeswift, stone curlew, crested honey buzzard, paradise flycatcher, bronze-winged jacana, lesser goldenbacked woodpecker, various warblers, black-naped blue flycatcher and the Indian peafowl. Butterflies include pansies, monarchs, mormons and swordtails. Dragonflies, stick insects, jewel beetles and praying mantis are among insects located in the reserve. The signature spider, giant wood spider and red wood spiders are seen, monsoon and after.SHOW MORE

Tasmania big crab
Weighing up to 17.6 kg (30 pouch) with shells up to 46 cm wide, Tasmanian big crabs are considered the largest and heaviest crab in the world. Found along the South Australian coasts, from New South Wales to Western Australia, this crab lives very long and grows very slowly, and this makes them easily threatened because of overfishing. .
jQuery(document).ready(function($) var data = action: 'polyxgo_products_search', type: 'Product', keywords: 'crab', orderby: 'rand', order: 'DESC', template: '1', limit: '4', columns: '4', viewall:'Shop All', ; jQuery.post(spyr_params.ajaxurl,data, function(response) var obj = jQuery.parseJSON(response); jQuery('#thelovesof_crab').html(obj); jQuery('#thelovesof_crab img.swiper-lazy:not(.swiper-lazy-loaded)' ).each(function () var img = jQuery(this); img.attr("src",img.data('src')); img.addClass( 'swiper-lazy-loaded' ); img.removeAttr('data-src'); ); ); );
Skinhead eagle
Also known as black eagles, monk eagles, or Eurasian eagles, bald eagles are sometimes considered the world’s largest bird of prey. This giant bird of prey can be more than 120 cm (47 inches) long with wingspan up to 3 m (120 inches) and weighing up to 14 kg (31 lb). Often nesting on tall branches and distant cliffs, this bird can fly even above the troposphere. See also: 15 largest and smallest Eagle birds in the world
jQuery(document).ready(function($) var data = action: 'polyxgo_products_search', type: 'Product', keywords: 'eagle', orderby: 'rand', order: 'DESC', template: '1', limit: '4', columns: '4', viewall:'Shop All', ; jQuery.post(spyr_params.ajaxurl,data, function(response) var obj = jQuery.parseJSON(response); jQuery('#thelovesof_eagle').html(obj); jQuery('#thelovesof_eagle img.swiper-lazy:not(.swiper-lazy-loaded)' ).each(function () var img = jQuery(this); img.attr("src",img.data('src')); img.addClass( 'swiper-lazy-loaded' ); img.removeAttr('data-src'); ); ); );
Giant hunting spider
