When is a cow 🐮, not a cow? Well, when it’s a goose; A golden goose, to be precise.

Why we buy so much milk, is because many East Indians (also known as South Asians), are vegetarian, and this is our only source of animal protein. No eggs. No fish. No meat. Only dairy.

In India 🇮🇳, and here in Canada 🇨🇦, cows do a lot for us. They: give us milk, till our fields, fertilize our soil, provide companionship, produce methane gas… I’m sure there’s a use for that, not sure exactly what that use is… Cows are needed (actually their poop is needed), for making cowpies 💩, and any extra milk is sold to purchase goods for the home.

This is a lot. THANK YOU, COWS!!

Sometimes, when food is scarce, people kill the cow, and consume its flesh.

When we kill the cow, we kill the proverbial golden goose that has been laying these golden eggs.

Perhaps this is when religion stepped in, and used FEAR (the wrath of God), to get people to not-kill cows for food during these lean times. Hence, letting the golden goose (the cow 🐮), live another day, and continue laying its golden eggs.

Religion may have felt the need to step in, and intervene, when people ignored what was best for the survival of our species.

In the face of starvation, the rational side of humanity can become as scarce as the food supply.

This is my understanding of why the Hindu religion deemed cows sacred. Because it recognized that people don’t always do what is best in the long term, when faced with immediate short-term gain.

Ps. Cowpies 💩 dried in the hot Indian sun for 10 days or more, lose the methane gas smell, and are used as a fuel source in outdoor cooking firepits.
