India Army Showcases ALAKRAN Vehicle Mounted Infantry Mortar Systems at Republic Day Celebrations
The Indian Army showcased the latest addition to its arsenal, locally developed under the ‘Made in India’ initiative by Mahindra and Milanion NTGS, the ALAKRAN Vehicle Mounted Infantry Mortar System (VMIMS), at the Nation’s 75th Republic Day parade in New Delhi. Following a collaboration between Milanion NTGS and India’s Mahindra Defence, the latter has been awarded an initial contract to supply the Indian Army with an undisclosed number of units of the 81mm ALAKRAN VMIMS, integrated onto Mahindra’s Armoured Light Specialist Vehicle (ALSV). The contract award to Mahindra followed a previously inked teaming agreement between the two organisations, to explore strategic opportunities under the ‘Made in India’ initiative to manufacture, supply and fulfil the need for the Vehicle Mounted Infantry Mortar System. Delivery of the integrated systems will be made by the last quarter of 2024, considerably increasing the mobility and indirect fire capability of the vehicles to support mechanised battalions of the Indian Army.

India's Republic Day is a national holiday, marked by great enthusiasm and patriotism. It commemorates the historic moment in 1950 when the Constitution of India was formally adopted, replacing. The Government of India Act (1935) and declaring India as a sovereign, socialist, secular, and democratic republic.
The main event takes place in the capital city, New Delhi, where a grand parade showcases the country's cultural diversity, military strength, and technological advancements. The President of India hoists the national flag at the iconic Red Fort, and the ceremony is attended by thousands of people. The parade features vibrant displays by the three wings of the military, along with various cultural performances, floats, and tableaus from different states and union territories.

On January 26, 1950, India took a momentous step towards becoming a sovereign democratic republic, marking the birth of a nation that embraced unity in diversity. As we commemorate the 75th Republic Day, it is an opportune moment to reflect on the significance of this historic day and the journey India has undertaken since then.
India's struggle for independence was a long and arduous one, characterized by the sacrifices of countless freedom fighters who envisioned a free and united India. The adoption of the Constitution on November 26, 1949, was a culmination of the nation's aspirations and laid the foundation for a democratic republic.
India's diversity is one of its greatest strengths, and the Republic Day celebrations serve as a testament to the nation's commitment to unity. The parade showcases the rich cultural heritage of different states, with vibrant floats, traditional dances, and music, reflecting the beauty of India's diverse tapestry.
Republic Day is also an occasion to celebrate India's achievements and progress over the past 75 years. From becoming self-sufficient in food production to emerging as a global leader in various industries, India has made significant strides. The nation's advancements in science and technology, space exploration, and renewable energy are a source of pride for every Indian.
While India has made remarkable progress, it is essential to acknowledge the challenges that lie ahead. Poverty, inequality, and environmental degradation continue to be pressing issues that require collective efforts to address. The Republic Day celebrations serve as a reminder of the nation's commitment to building a more inclusive and sustainable society.
As India embarks on the journey towards its centennial year of independence, the spirit of Republic Day should inspire us to work together towards a brighter future. By harnessing the power of unity, innovation, and compassion, India can overcome challenges and seize opportunities to become a global leader in the 21st century.
The 75th Republic Day is a milestone in India's history, symbolizing the nation's unwavering commitment to democracy, unity, and progress. Let us celebrate this momentous occasion by cherishing our diversity, honoring the sacrifices of our freedom fighters, and working towards a future where every Indian can thrive and prosper. Jai Hind!
