AHA I learned how to make home made pins (which are stored on this piece of foam for now until I can get or craft a display to put them on)

Some came out warmer tinted than I intended and a few of the Chica cup handles broke but I had fun with it. I applied a sealer to protect them from weather and water but might switch to resin, but resin is also expensive so depends. I might sell these in sets but the ones with some errors will be b-grade discounted obviously. I have other designs as well but haven't tested those yet

i think sometimes people conceive of little alters as being like, literal children, and imagine that they have to strongly "protect" them from seeing or thinking about things considered age-inappropriate.

i think it varies from system to system, and we should respect the stated wishes of individual systems and parts, but i don't think aggressive caution and self-censorship should be the default mode of interaction with young parts.

i think it's good to remember and reinforce the reality that the whole system has lived a certain number of years and that the knowledge and experience accumulated throughout that time can be shared and transferred to parts, if they want to accept it.

in my experience as someone who has grey amnesia, most of my young parts have a passive, intuitive awareness of "adult" topics, and can also understand some of the more mature opinions that we collectively have. that being said, they still feel like kids and have their own (often immature!) perspectives on these topics.

i generally disagree with the idea that mere exposure to "adult" topics is innately traumatic to children--it's highly contextual. and completely insulating kids from anything potentially upsetting stifles their growth, leading to avoidance and paralysis.

inviting young parts into awareness of your present adult life can unburden traumatic associations with "adult" topics and demonstrate what a healthier role model looks like. we should focus on helping young parts process and understand "age-inappropriate" experiences that might be confusing or upsetting, rather than just shielding them.

while young parts should never feel obligated to witness or participate in aspects of the system's life that feel age-inappropriate, it's also a real (even likely!) possibility. having a support strategy beyond further avoidant and dissociative barriers helps the whole system grow stronger.

ultimately, i think we can best take care of our little ones by being curious about the nuances of their experiences and self-concept, guiding them through challenging times rather than coddling or restricting their growth. Heart

Greetings, I am the princess of the Sol Empire, but you may refer to me as Blaze the Cat.

I have been informed of my friends' presence here on tumblr and wished to participate as well. Sonic, Amy and Cream have shown me how to start up this blog.
