My Nov. 5 podcast focuses on the progress of Independent Redistricting Commission (IRC). The good news is: the adopted draft maps are not a done deal. My guests Don Jorgensen and Brian Bickel start at the beginning and describe the creation of the IRC through Citizens Initiative and how the process has evolved. Both Don and Brian have been closely watching the IRC. Brian has even submitted a set of maps and attended meetings. Both have submitted comments online. This is not their first rodeo, and they compare this redistricting process, which has Ducey's fingerprints all over it, with the last one. We talk a lot about the gerrymandering in the Pima County districts. In this photo, I am showing how square and compact the Maricopa County districts are. The IRC maps are still drafts. You can view them and make comments on their website. On Saturday, Nov. 6, there is an IRC virtual town hall where people can submit comments online or speak on the video, which will be recorded. There will be meetings around the state where people can comment. Check out the podcast on Friday on my YouTube channel and several podcast players. @pimadems #irc #independentredistricting #arizona #tucson (at Tucson, Arizona) https://www.instagram.com/p/CV3b0ZSPAj5-oBgnkVRfQr7JIARkVfzgCzBmoc0/?utm_medium=tumblr

Michigan residents to Lansing: We don’t trust you to do the basics
3/21/2017 - Bridge Magazine
“In 125 community conversations with about 2,650 people conducted from March through December in 2016, a strong majority reported “low” or “very low” level of trust in state government's handling of K-12 and higher education, services for low-income residents, and in the state’s ability to foster economic growth, protect public health or the environment.
“It doesn't matter who we get elected to represent us, because they're not there to represent us. I find it mind boggling to try to answer these questions in a calm way. It’s not possible because there’s too much sorrow and pain and expense in how we’re operating the state.” - Community Conversation participant “
