I don't write BUT here are some dramatic, historical Norrington fic recs for you!

“Mutiny on the Dauntless” - (Ships: none but the sailing kind.) Okay, I'm cheating a little with this one because it's actually from Gov. Swann's POV, but it's a fun semi-historical fic about the Swanns and young Norrington on the crossing from England. It's one of my faves and I always recommend it, even if it's only on the Internet Archive now! But on to the longer, even more historical recs:

“Crossing the Bar” - (Ships: some light Jack/Anamaria but that's about it.) Takes place post-CotBP as Norrington chases Jack after his one day's head start. Written pre-DMC so it bears very little resemblance to the aftermath we know, but it's got terrific characterization, naval battles, philosophizing, and some 18th-century medicine. Probably my all-time favorite PotC fic.

“Between Wind and Water” - (Ships: Sparrington.) Back when I first read this, Sparrington was one of my biggest notps; the historical detail in this fic was so good that I read all 90k words of it (and then became a part-time shipper). The author describes the fic thus: “This story is AU after the first film (sequels never happened). It's an experiment in dropping POTC characters into an actual historical event: the Battle of Cartagena de Indias in 1741. Most of the non-POTC characters are real people.” It's been a while now since I read this but the level of research always stuck with me.
