it was embarrassing that the boys behind you were forced to call him captain. to his credit, he did lead them to victory today—but all that dignity flew out the window the second he choked audibly at the drop of the curve.

the parking lot was crowded, gaggles of students from their respective schools shuffling into shuttle buses. you were right next to your own when daishou decided he didn’t need to pay attention to the ground below him any longer.

so, you watched him clear his throat as the boys nearby held their breaths. he brought a shaky hand to adjust the collar of his jacket, and you saw his gaze flicker left and right in an attempt to gauge whoever witnessed his lapse of balance.

much to his dismay, it was everyone.

“you’re a fucking idiot,” you snickered, walking past him and onto the steps of the bus.
